Docs, two lab examples in the workspace-excluded drf-focus-probe crate, and test-only falsifiers (soa-view-probe, cognitive-shader-driver/tests, lance-graph-planner/tests).

  • No runtime, ABI, planner, writer, WAL or ownership change. No production source file is touched.
  • No new opcode, selection vector, store, cache, generation or engine.
  • The scatter survival condition (ir.rs:329-337) stays in force.
  • P2 is complete; P3–P5 remain unauthorized.

Plan: .claude/plans/dr256-where-capstone-v1.md.

Sections

  • P0 census, P1 lab: WHERE, COUNT and ANY already exist in Quack / mask-risc. Occupancy is the one missing statistic.
  • Amendment A: DR64³ gap inventory, kept as a working model. DR Claude/review lance graph architecture i6 t kf #3's physical contract is still an open admission question (NFR-OP-2).
  • Amendment B, P2 (examples/p2_quack_where.rs): the real Quack path, every arm oracle-checked.
    • Bind and lower ≈ 200 ns; building R ≈ 20 µs.
    • Reusing a kept R costs 0.05–0.60 of recomputing it per property.
    • Existing execution skips dead words only in gated predicates. A block schedule pays at sparse selections (0.02–0.39) and not near full occupancy.
    • Stale codebook, scope, selection and predicate-dependent property changes all run silently stale through Quack.
  • Future compiler compatibility: cites D-DRMC-0 and the native-first plans instead of restating them.
  • § D, evidence reconciliation: binding store planned/unbuilt; Quack numeric binding and RelAlg let reuse implemented; witnessed DR populations, typed DR method binding and compiled recipes implemented in lab; source-attested production integration missing. Spine linked with source (U2 (D-RU-2): let-bound planes over the contract set algebra #1649 … dr-math-binding-probe: L1, reuse a D-DRMC-5 certificate on a fresh frame (X8) #1740). The predicate-dependent falsifier: a reused R2 keeps 1,032 rows against 31 fresh, silently.
  • Part E, D-NFR-1 ownership correction and amendment:
    • Guarantees kept apart: structural (borrow, compile time), nominal (mailbox_owner, cast(on_behalf); not authorization), persisted, now split into horizon (QueryReference::at: row admission only, no dataset or owner field) and physical snapshot (checkout_version on one dataset: a separate, unrecorded step).
    • Borrow-scoped execution needs no frame, lease or guard; the next possible lab step is a thin zero-copy adapter over real owner lanes.
    • Escaped reuse must recompute or refuse until a contract establishes source/owner identity, a complete mutation witness, focus and coordinates, scope and authorization, codebook interpretation, and multi-source snapshot consistency. One owner generation may become a component of that, after every mutation path is closed; it is not the contract.
    • Mutation inventory: every MailboxSoA column and both stamps are pub fields; direct writes, the 12 setters, same-cycle write_row, reset_row, apply_edges, consume_firing, style and phase methods move no stamp. A method-local generation would miss direct writes; the fix options (encapsulation, owner-scoped capability, snapshot publication) are listed, not chosen.
    • Falsifiers (each disable-verified, red only in its own test; one non-binding disable recorded): raw setter; same-cycle write_row; later-cycle twin; direct public-field write; reset_row + same-cycle write restoring both stamps over new data; two owners with equal stamps and different answers; one pinned QueryReference admitting different rows from two sources; an exhaustive destructure proving the reference has no source field; the packet cycle as caller stamp.
    • Status: PROVEN borrow exclusion; PROVEN stamps cannot validate escaped masks; PROVEN no Quack ↔ MailboxSoA integration. NOT YET PROVEN that one generation suffices. OPEN mutation-path ownership, physical snapshot attestation, and NFR-OP-1 (the escaped-reuse authority contract).
  • Ready if separately approved: the in-borrow D-NFR-1 lab adapter; a Quack Agg route to the existing power-sum terminals; a P3 gate-aware fold measurement.
  • Blocked: the escaped-reuse authority contract; the production binding store; cross-frame named intermediates; lab(D-DR256-OD): on-demand global mask, u16 scatter, bounded reuse, L1 interference #1791 scattered-mask reuse; S-INGRESS; the proof reference (CC1); a proof checker; the DR³ physical contract; witness unification.

…edule lab

P0: verified capability table for WHERE / population-masked reads against
Quack and mask-risc source. Smallest real gap is exact occupancy (active
64-row words, active 256-row blocks) over a Keep mask. Corrects an earlier
note: Terminal::Any has no early exit on the generic tile path.

P1 (lab, reported not gated): scalar occupancy costs ~240 ns above
popcount_batch_u64 per 8 KiB mask; a shared block schedule for
multi-property reads gains from dead-block skipping (B/S 0.017..~1.0),
roughly flat in property count. Oracle-checked, two disable runs red.

Plan carries the DR-aware benchmark profile, interface proposal (no new
ABI), DR64/DR256 crossover criteria, DuckDB D1-D7 harvest, P0-P5 ladder
and review blockers. No runtime, ABI, planner, writer or WAL change.

Source-backed audit of DR #1 (identity), DR #2 (properties) and the
DR #3 Identity x Properties view against D-NFR-0's seam table. Records
the operator's DR64³ direction as a working model, not a verified fact.

Findings: the frame/focus/scope guards and the typed (Identity, Property)
register exist only in lab crates; named intermediates map onto four
existing lifetimes, with D-NFR-1 (a frame on a bound Quack query) as the
one missing link; mask-risc already folds exact grouped cross moments,
but Quack has no Agg route to them; an inverse relation read is an
access path, not a bit; PrefetchDepth is a schema tier, not a physical
prefetch. DuckDB A/B/C harvest with owner and decision per technique.
PR A-F ladder mapped onto existing D-ids (D-NFR-1, D-NFR-5, D-RMAP-*).
Documentation only; nothing authorized.

…easurement

Audit (source-backed): Quack Binder -> Query -> Program; the binding store
is proposal only (D-QSP, D-NFR S5); `BindStore` occurs in no file in any
branch's history. RelAlg SetProgram lets live for one run_program call
with a u64 version check. lance-graph-java View is lazy, immutable,
narrowing-only and lowers straight to mask-risc; its Mask has no sum.
mask-risc skips dead words only in gated predicates; masked folds skip
value reads but not words; mask ops and the tile loop never skip.

P2 lab (crates/drf-focus-probe/examples/p2_quack_where.rs), two runs,
every arm oracle-checked, two disable runs red: R bound through
Draft::bind; reusing a kept R as a plane costs 0.05-0.60 of recomputing
it per property; the P1 block schedule is 0.02-0.39 of that at sparse
selections and 0.63-1.08 at full occupancy, so existing execution does
not deliver block skipping. Stale codebook, scope change and selection
change run silently stale through Quack; relalg refuses by version.

Lab only. No new opcode, selection vector, store or cache. P3-P5 remain
unauthorized.

Architecture compatibility note only; P2 scope unchanged, nothing new
authorized. References D-DRMC-0, D-NFR/D-NFC, D-ONNX-RELALG-CAP, D-DR3
and D-RPR instead of restating them.

Records the existing lab precedents on main: typed DR64 binding (#1701,
integrated by #1708), law/recipe/binding separation (#1703), certified
recipe reuse on a fresh frame without egglog (#1740), witness-refusing
populations (#1666) and zero-copy relation lanes (#1659). Corrects P2:
a witnessed kept population exists in the lab; a Quack Keep plane still
has none. Answers the five P2 compatibility checks and names each
missing hook with its existing owner.

…endent invalidation falsifier

Corrects the binding-store wording: the generalized Quack Binding Store
is planned/unbuilt, while numeric binding, RelAlg let reuse (#1649,
#1653), witnessed DR populations (#1666), typed DR method binding
(#1701/#1708) and compiled mathematical recipes (#1693/#1694/#1707/
#1740) exist in production or lab. Notes #1666 Pop's witness refusal
in B.7(5).

Replaces "a property change is harmless" with the three-way invalidation
rule, and adds the falsifier it needs to the P2 lab: a property read by
R's criteria is mutated; the reused R2 keeps 1,032 rows vs 31 fresh and
a downstream read differs, silently (`--controls`, seed 0x0D0D_F00D).
Disable run red (skipping the mutation fails the non-vacuity assertion).

…, P2)

Links the existing implementation spine with source and status: #1649,
#1653, #1659, #1666, #1681, #1685, #1693, #1694 (landed via #1696/#1698),
#1701/#1703 (via #1708), #1707, #1740. Separates production (Quack
numeric binding, CompiledProgram, mask-risc terminals, r2il procedures,
the contract's SetProgram type) from lab.

Names the smallest missing seams with their owners: D-NFR-1 frame on a
bound Query (needs NFR-OP-1), an input-generation dependency witness for
kept planes (binding store; witness type is NFR-OP-3, so no new Pop),
and the D-NFR-2 codebook generation. Shows how one certified recipe
applies to many witnessed bindings without copying populations, re-reads
the DuckDB harvest against what exists, and states the authorization
boundary. Documentation only.

In-borrow Quack execution inherits ownership from the source borrow and needs
no frame store. Escaped reuse is a real gap: the mailbox's cycle and write
stamps do not move on a raw setter or a same-cycle write_row (escaped_reuse.rs).
