Summary

Resolves #131 (building directly atop the proof-ledger lane in #130) and aligns the proof-verification lane with the mathematical architecture and authority routing in hyperpolymath/mathesis (docs/standards/AUTHORITY.adoc, docs/proposals/estate-mathematical-architecture.adoc, docs/status/CROSS-PROVER-RECONCILIATION.adoc) and normative metadatastician/standards 3-practice/PROOF-POLICY.adoc (@ 46ee1832…).

What changed

  1. Rocq (coq) compiled-witness assumption audit (scripts/check-proofs.sh):

    • Stages each <source-root> into an isolated scratch directory (keeping the working tree free of .vo/.glob/.aux artifacts while preserving local multi-module import order).
    • Runs coqchk -Q . "" -silent -o <module> on every gated .vo, enforcing predicative Set, <none> for type-in-type, unsafe (co)fixpoints, and assumed positivity, and comparing * Axioms: against the claiming leg's axioms list in verification/proofs/LEDGER.json.
    • Generates and compiles a per-declaration Require <module>. Print Assumptions <module>.<decl>. probe for every recorded target declaration, failing closed unless output is Closed under the global context or Axioms: matching the ledger entry, and rejecting stale/padded axioms entries.
  2. Lean 4 (lean4) compiled-witness assumption audit (scripts/check-proofs.sh):

    • Compiles each gated module to .olean in an isolated scratch directory (preserving lean --print-libdir on LEAN_PATH so Init resolves).
    • Generates and runs an import <module> + #print axioms <decl> probe for every recorded target declaration, unconditionally rejecting sorryAx (even across module imports or if listed in .axioms) and failing on any unrecorded or stale axiom.
  3. Verbatim assumption receipts (Justfile, scripts/check-proofs.sh, .github/workflows/proof-ci.yml):

    • just proof-check-{coq,lean4,agda,idris2} write receipts to ${PROOF_RECEIPT_DIR:-target/proof-receipts}/witness-<prover>.txt, capturing verbatim coqchk, Print Assumptions, and #print axioms output (or an explicit gated-modules: 0 notice while legs remain open), surfaced in the Proof CI summary and uploaded in proof-receipts.
  4. Ledger & Mathesis architectural alignment (scripts/check-proof-ledger.sh, verification/proofs/LEDGER.json, PROOF-STATUS.adoc):

    • Adds non-collapsing cross-prover reconciliation tracking (AGDA-VERIFIED, NOT-INVENTORIED / COQ-CHECKED / LEAN-CHECKED, BRIDGE-PENDING / RECONCILED) per mathesis CROSS-PROVER-RECONCILIATION.adoc.
    • Supports per-leg declarations (mapping hyphenated Agda anchors like TP-ECHO-1..3 to distinct, valid Rocq/Lean identifiers) and support_files (all required gated in MANIFEST), forbids sorryAx in .axioms, enforces exact gated MANIFEST entries (closing the quarantine bypass), scopes lexical axiom checks to the owning leg, binds formal declaration names to their types, and accepts >= 1 independent proven DTT legs at Grade 2i so completing both PROOF-POLICY §2 legs is representable.
    • Removes the #131 open-gap note in PROOF-STATUS.adoc and documents the live witness assumption checks.
  5. Bidirectional §7 controls (tests/proofs/run-controls.sh, tests/proofs/run-ledger-controls.sh, tests/proofs/control/ControlImportedAxiom.{v,lean}):

    • 51 ledger/scanner controls (including quarantine bypass, sorryAx in .axioms, statement_compared: false, duplicate source-prover leg, unmapped hyphenated anchors, premature RECONCILED bridge, swapped declaration types, and proof that ControlImportedAxiom.{v,lean} contain zero lexical escape hatches).
    • 15 kernel & witness controls (K1–K15) exercising scripts/check-proofs.sh both ways on clean witnesses, stdlib-imported axioms (Coq.Logic.Classical_Prop.classic, Classical.em), proven-with-postulates pass and stale-axiom mismatch, cross-module helper Axiom, cross-module imported sorryAx, missing recorded declarations, clean worktree staging, and verbatim receipts.

Closes #131

Arena Agent and others added 30 commits November 1, 2026 10:44
Issue #57: `just proof-check-all` existed but no workflow ran it, and every
prover recipe ended in `SKIP: <prover> not installed; exit 0`. The proofs
were asserted, not enforced. Two further ways the target could go green
without checking anything: a prover directory with no sources still printed
PASS, and the banned-pattern scan flagged the *prose* "zero postulates" in
EchoTyping.agda (exit 1 on a clean tree) while ignoring real escape hatches
inside block comments.

Enforcement added (no proof or safety flag weakened):

* scripts/check-proof-enrolment.sh — registry gate. Parses
  [verification].allowed-proofs (placement.a2ml) and ALLOWED_PROOFS
(check-coordination-boundary.sh), requires them to agree, requires every
file under verification/proofs/ to be registered, requires every
registration to exist on disk, refuses to pass on zero proof sources, and
requires --safe/--without-K to stay in force. A required prover missing
from PATH exits 2 (BLOCKED), never a skip.
* scripts/proof-scan-dangerous.sh — comment-aware banned-pattern scan
(block + line comments), word-boundary keywords, zero-work fails.
* Justfile — proof-check-all now depends on the gate; every prover recipe
fails BLOCKED when it has work and no prover, fails on any typecheck error,
and prints NONE instead of PASS when it has no enrolled sources.
* .github/workflows/proof-ci.yml — hosted lane for `just proof-check-all` on
proof, manifest, Justfile and workflow changes. Agda 2.8.0 (sha256-verified
  official binary), agda-stdlib v2.3 (tag+commit asserted), just 1.59.0,
  echo-types and absolute-zero commit-pinned. No continue-on-error, no
skip-on-missing-tool. Receipts uploaded as an artifact.
* actions.lock — entry for the new workflow (existing pinned actions only).

Local receipts: enrolment gate PASS (2 sources, 3 registered entries),
banned-pattern scan PASS (2 files). Agda typecheck: BLOCKED locally (no Agda
in this environment) — the hosted lane supplies it; not claimed as passing.

The hosted lane's first run went red inside `just proof-check-all`; raw
runner logs were not retrievable, so the failing error was invisible to
anyone reading the PR. Pipe the target's output through tee and, only on
failure, re-emit the tail as ::error:: annotations (and into the job
summary). Diagnostics only — the run is already red when this executes.

…agda

First hosted run of proof-ci.yml reached the prover and failed both modules
with [ModuleNameDoesntMatchFileName]: Agda searched only CWD, the registered
defaults and its primitive library, so the proof directory was never an
include root and nextgen-typing.agda-lib was inert.

Pass --library=verification/proofs/agda/nextgen-typing.agda-lib (and fail if
the manifest is missing) so the manifest's include path and its
standard-library/echo-types dependencies are what Agda uses. No proof source
and no safety flag is touched: --safe stays, --without-K stays in the file
pragmas.

…t in CI

Run 2 showed --library expects an installed library *name*, not a path
(LibraryError). Derive the name from nextgen-typing.agda-lib itself and pass
--library=
, so drift between recipe and manifest fails loudly; register
the repo manifest alongside standard-library/echo-types/absolute-zero in the
lane's AGDA_DIR/libraries.

PROOF-STATUS.adoc: add the guard table (enrolment gate, per-prover strictness,
banned-pattern scan, proof-ci lane), the real verification commands, and a
receipt table citing proof-ci run 41299544043 (green, sha 4c6b918) and the
failing first runs that exposed the [ModuleNameDoesntMatchFileName] defect.
Local run recorded as BLOCKED (no Agda), not as a pass.

verification/proofs/README.adoc: replace the false claim that CI enforces the
banned patterns via 'panic-attack assail --proofs-only' with the scripts that
actually run; document that an unlisted proof fails the enrolment gate.

PROOF-NEEDS.adoc: same correction, plus the proof-CI guard in References.

No proof source and no safety flag is touched.

…ripts and CI

Follows standards/3-practice/PROOF-POLICY.adoc and mathesis
`estate-mathematical-architecture` to the letter, examining only the Coq/Lean
witness state. The previous lane re-ran the estate's own "all four provers"
sweep; under §1/§2 that was the wrong shape. Agda is a theory proof's SOURCE
leg and Rocq + Lean are its RECHECK legs, so:

  * the Agda leg is RECORDED in verification/proofs/LEDGER.json (commit, run,
    pinned library assumptions) and audited for form — not re-derived;
  * the ledger audit and the declared recheck legs are what CI enforces.

Witness verdict, in the policy's own vocabulary:
  XP-1 kind=theory grade=3 (Agda only, not translated)
  agda: proven @ 4c6b918 (run 41299544043)
rocq: open — no witness; §2 wants transport (Dedukti/Lambdapi) or a
hand re-proof, with the statement comparison recorded
  lean4: open — no witness; no Mathlib, so a core-Lean re-proof
Grade 2i needs one proven leg, 2ii needs two plus a non-DTT leg (Agda/Rocq/
Lean are all DTT/CIC, so 2ii is unreachable from this family), Grade 1 needs
AXLE/coq-lsp/isabelle-server. None is established, and nothing here claims
  otherwise.

New:
scripts/check-proof-ledger.sh the policy gate: schema + closed §5 vocabulary,
grade supported by proven legs, artifact/MANIFEST/route/statement-
comparison/axiom bookkeeping for any claimed leg, no Mathlib, comment-
      aware escape-hatch scan, undeclared-axiom cross-check, manifest <->
ALLOWED_PROOFS <-> disk parity, witnesses on disk claimed by the ledger,
docs anchored to the ledger. Open legs print POLICY GAP and are never
      counted as verification.
scripts/check-proofs.sh the estate instrument, verbatim from mathesis
(missing toolchain = FAIL, unmanifested file = ERROR, a quarantined
module that starts compiling = ERROR).
  verification/proofs/LEDGER.json + per-prover MANIFESTs
tests/proofs/run-controls.sh §7 both ways: closed Rocq/Lean proofs must be
      accepted (Print Assumptions "closed", #print axioms "no axioms");
`Admitted`/`sorry` controls, a grade with no leg behind it, and a witness
planted on disk must all be rejected. No prover here => BLOCKED, exit 2.

CI (.github/workflows/proof-ci.yml): pins Rocq 8.18 and Lean 4.15.0, runs the
controls, then `just proof-witness-check` (enrolment + banned-pattern + ledger
audit + declared Rocq/Lean legs), then the Agda source leg, and announces every
policy gap as a warning. A zero-work guard fails if a leg is recorded proven with
no gated module. No continue-on-error, no skip-on-missing-tool.

Gates widened, not weakened: MANIFEST/LEDGER.json are excluded from the
proof registries (they are the gates' inputs, not proofs) in both
check-proof-enrolment.sh and check-coordination-boundary.sh; the latter allows
tests/proofs/control/* only if each fixture declares itself and stays <= 20
lines. The ledger gate's unclaimed-witness check no longer degrades silently in
a tree without .git.

Docs: PROOF-STATUS.adoc re-anchored to the ledger (the "1 of 1 done" figure is
withdrawn — it inflated a single-prover proof into a finished one), PROOF-NEEDS
and verification/proofs/README updated to the §5 vocabulary and the MANIFEST
format.

Local receipts: enrolment --static-only PASS, ledger gate PASS (1 theorem,
2 sources, 0 proven legs, 2 policy gaps), boundary PASS, banned-pattern PASS,
justfile parses; coqc/lean absent here, so the compile legs and the controls
are BLOCKED locally and must be proven in CI.

Co-authored-by: arena-agent <297053741+arena-agent@users.noreply.github.com>
The runner log and the receipts artifact are not retrievable from every client
(both redirect to blob storage), so the evidence that the instrument actually
ran was only inferable from a green step. Emit the census and the control count
as ::notice:: annotations, which the check-run API serves.

Local: ledger gate PASS, notice reads '1 theorem(s), 2 proof source(s),
0 proven recheck leg(s), 2 policy gap(s)'.

Co-authored-by: arena-agent <297053741+arena-agent@users.noreply.github.com>
The previous commit recorded XP-1 as Grade 3 with both recheck legs open. This
one makes the rung *below* the gap as explicit as the gap itself, and puts the
rungs either side of it under the gate.

What the grade now rests on (each item checked against the tree, not asserted):

  * named declarations — statement_anchor/statement_formal pin TP-ECHO-1..3 in
EchoTyping.agda and record their types; the gate re-reads the file
whitespace-normalised and fails if a recorded type is no longer there, so a
    moved statement cannot leave a stale record behind;
  * flags in force — the gate reads the {-# OPTIONS #-} pragmas out of the proof
files AND the CLI flags out of scripts/check-proofs.sh, and requires the
ledger's safety_flags to equal their union. Drop or add a flag and the run
    goes red;
  * the §5 deviation — mathesis §5 names '--safe --erasure' or 'Full --cubical'
for grade 3; this proof runs '--safe --without-K --cubical-compatible',
which is neither. The grade stays 3 (Agda alone, safe, untranslated) but the
difference is recorded in grade_deviation, and the gate requires that field
    whenever the flags are not a named configuration;
  * 'no postulates' — now evidenced by a mechanism (--safe + the comment-aware
    scans) in escape_hatch_evidence, not asserted.

The rungs either side:

  * 2i needs exactly one proven recheck leg. `just proof-grade` prints the delta
straight from the ledger; PROOF-STATUS carries the runbook, including what
will NOT be accepted (Mathlib, exit-code-only evidence, a grade raised while
    the legs stay open);
  * 2ii still needs a non-DTT leg, which Rocq + Lean cannot supply;
  * 1 still needs an AXLE/coq-lsp/isabelle-server receipt.

Regressions and supersession (mathesis §6) are now checked: every history entry
needs date/target/from/to/evidence, the LAST entry for a target must equal that
target's current value (so a downgrade cannot be quietly applied and a record
cannot be quietly dropped), and a transition to a weaker state needs a reason.
An honest, evidenced regression passes — control 7 pins that.

Controls split into two halves: run-ledger-controls.sh (15 expectations, no
prover needed, runs everywhere) and the kernel half in run-controls.sh (5).
Planted: grade with no leg, contradictory history, unjustified regression, flag
drift, statement drift, missing escape-hatch mechanism, unrecorded deviation,
non-existent anchor, ghost source file, unclaimed witness — each refused for the
stated reason.

Local: enrolment --static-only PASS, ledger gate PASS (1 theorem, 2 sources,
0 proven legs, 2 policy gaps), boundary PASS, banned-pattern PASS, 15/15
ledger-form controls PASS, `just proof-grade` renders the ladder. The kernel
half needs coqc/lean, which are absent here: BLOCKED, proven in CI.

The estate PROOF-POLICY is an owner ruling of 2026-10-26 **amended today**
(2026-11-01): §2.1 fixes the canonical Agda invocation, §2.2 fixes the
correspondence record, §2.3 the rollout. It postdates this repo's
D-2026-10-12 proof-kernel ruling, which said "Coq, Mizar: archived" and "Lean 4
is provenance". So the local ruling is partly superseded and the repo never said
so.

Reconciliation, clause by clause, inside the decision itself (nothing deleted):

  stands        Agda as the family kernel; Idris2 for ABI/engineering;
                Isabelle supplementary only (policy §3)
superseded "Coq, Mizar archived" — §2 requires a Rocq recheck leg
partly "ported, not imported" stands; "provenance only" does not —
§2 requires a Lean recheck leg with §2.2 correspondence evidence
consequence XP-1's Rocq/Lean legs are OPEN OBLIGATIONS, not waivers: §4
waives a leg only when the statement cannot be expressed in the
mapped prover, which is not a strategic archive decision

`docs/decisions/README.adoc` becomes an index with that status line, so a reader
meets the supersession before the ruling.

Policy is now pinned, not just named: `policy.proof_policy` carries
repo/path/commit `46ee1832…`/ruling/amended/url and `vendored_here: false` —
this repo has no `standards/` directory, so the old bare path was a dangling
citation.

§2.1 also says a prior `--safe` or `--safe --without-K` success is *historical
evidence, not a receipt* for the combined `--cubical-compatible` profile. The
pinned Agda receipt was invoked as `agda --safe --library=nextgen-typing`, so it
no longer counts: re-baselined onto run 41314454646 (3cd1859), the first run
that used the canonical invocation via `just proof-check-agda`, with the old one
kept as `historical_evidence`. Recorded as a history transition, and the gate's
history rule now also resolves a target that names the SOURCE leg rather than a
recheck leg.

Also recorded, not hidden: policy §6 wants toolchains from a Guix manifest or the
container; this lane installs Rocq/Lean from the package index and the release
archive. That is an open `policy.deviations` entry, not a waiver.

Incidental, same class of defect: CLAUDE.md routed tropical work to
`tropical-resource-typing`, a name this repo's own ECOSYSTEM.a2ml records as
renamed on 2026-09-09. Fixed, and CLAUDE.md now points at the pinned policy
(policy preamble requires exactly that).

…hority

Item 2 of the audit: absolute-zero and echo-types were two bare version pins in
`.source.assumptions`, sitting in the same array as `agda 2.8.0`. They are not
the same kind of thing as a compiler version, and the ledger now says so:

  dependency-pin a tool at a version (agda, agda-stdlib)
  external-development another repository's development, with its `relation`
                        (construction-under-comparison / proof-bearing-consumer),
a note on what it is, and the file+date it was read from

echo-types carries `identity_claim: open` — its README says criterion 2 is open.
absolute-zero carries `undischarged_axioms: 61` — 115 Qed / 0 Admitted / 61
axioms, OND-6 open by design, its Coq archived 2026-10-10, and it reaches this
proof only via echo-types' manifest. Recording either as a pin would have let a
reader conclude the opposite.

New `.source.import_cone`: every imported module at the pin with its
`{-# OPTIONS #-}` and postulate count (Echo, EchoCharacteristic, EchoLinear — all
`--safe --without-K --cubical-compatible`, 0 postulates), and the postulated
modules deliberately OUTSIDE it. `--safe` refuses an import that is not itself
safe, so the cone *is* the trust base for "no escape hatches" — worth an explicit
record rather than an implicit assumption.

Gate (§1.1, §3, §5 applied to dependencies, not just to contracts):
  - every assumption is tagged, and an unknown tag is refused
  - an external development without relation/evidence is refused
  - a dependency with open obligations must be NAMED in `.caveats`
  - a postulated module inside the import cone forces `proven-with-postulates`
    and a named axiom list
  - an open leg with no caveat at all is refused (a claim by omission)

Item 3 of the audit: the gate's policy reference was a bare in-repo path
(`standards/3-practice/PROOF-POLICY.adoc`) — a citation to a file this tree does
not contain — so the ledger's own `note` claiming the gate "prints the commit and
fails when the pin is missing" was false. It is true now:

  policy: metadatastician/standards 3-practice/PROOF-POLICY.adoc @ 46ee18323305
            (owner ruling 2026-10-26), amended 2026-11-01
referenced, not vendored: this repository carries no copy

The gate reads the pin from the ledger and fails on a missing repository, path,
ruling or full 40-char commit, on `vendored_here: true` with no file, and notes
the reverse mismatch. §2.2's third route `unavailable` and §4's `waiver` are now
accepted: a waived leg carries NO status (so nothing can count it), must name
obligation/tool/reason/record, and is printed in the verdict; `unavailable`
cannot carry a claim and must say what is missing. Neither can create a grade.

Two silent-parsing bugs found on the way, both in the gate's own record reads:
bash `read` with `IFS=$'\t'` COLLAPSES empty fields (tab is whitespace), so a
record with an empty middle field shifted every later field left — the
trust-base rule read `evidence` as `open` and passed everything. All record reads
now use a non-whitespace separator (0x1F). One inline read had no IFS at all.

Controls: 19 → 26. The seven new ones plant an external dependency with no
caveat naming it, a postulated import-cone module under a `proven` leg, a
relation claim with no evidence, open legs with no caveat, an unpinned policy, a
phantom vendored copy, a waiver used as a status, a thin waiver, an `unavailable`
route with no blocker, an `unavailable` route carrying `proven`, and one
conforming waiver that must be accepted AND printed.

…tity claim

Item 4 of the audit. XP-1 compares the pipeline's loss operations against
echo-types' `Echo` construction. echo-types' own claim — that `Echo` *is* the
identity of structured loss — is OPEN at our pin: their README says "Positive
identity is open ... Criterion 2 is open". Nothing in this repo said so, and
"EchoTyping proves the echo-types thesis" is exactly the over-read a reader will
make from the filename alone.

Stated in the module header (where someone reading the proof starts), in
PROOF-STATUS under the theorem (three caveats: identity claim open; absolute-zero
is a proof-bearing consumer with 61 undischarged axioms, none in the cone; no
second kernel has checked it, and no waiver is claimed), and in the proofs README.
The ledger already carried all three in `caveats`, and the gate refuses a record
that drops one — the prose now says what the machine record says.

Also corrects a sentence in yesterday's reconciliation: the canonical
`--cubical-compatible` flag is passed by `scripts/check-proofs.sh`, not declared
in the files' `{-# OPTIONS #-}` (the ledger's `flags_provenance` records exactly
that split; the prose claimed otherwise).

…format

Item 5 of the audit. Two stale values, both inherited from gitbot-fleet
templates. Neither was a question for an owner in the end: the owning repos
document the answer, and the defect is in the *template*, which I am reporting
upstream.

hexad → octad. Our feed descriptor said `format = "hexad"` and
`destination = "verisimdb-data/feeds/"`. VeriSimDB's records carry
`"schema": "verisimdb.octad.v1"` (8 modal witnesses), the REST surface is
`/api/v1/octads`, and `HEXAD` survives only as a LEGACY VCL keyword for the
octad source, kept in `spec/grammar.ebnf` v3.0 for backward compatibility. A
query keyword is not a wire format. There is also no `feeds/` directory anywhere:
the store's documented layout is `scans/` and `scans/octads/`. Now
`format = "verisimdb.octad.v1"`, `destination = "verisimdb-data/scans/octads/"`,
with `repository` naming the engine and `parent` naming nextgen-databases.
`tests/e2e.sh`'s commented example POSTed to `/api/v1/hexads` — corrected.

logtalk → json. `report-format = "logtalk"` names a format Hypatia removed on
2026-04-14; hypatia's own NEUROSYM.a2ml says so in a comment and uses `json`.
This repo has zero `.lgt` files, so nothing read the value and nothing failed —
which is exactly why it survived. Now `json`, with the removal date recorded.

Both are template defects in hyperpolymath/gitbot-fleet, whose
`fix-missing-verisim-feed.sh` stamps the hexad block (`format = "hexad"`,
`destination = "verisim-data/feeds/"`, `data-store = "verisim-data"`, plus a
`verisim.a2ml` filename whose idempotency check misses `verisimdb.a2ml`, so a
second descriptor can be created) and whose
`robot-repo-automaton/templates/skeleton/` ships the logtalk value to ~367 code
hits across the fleet. Reported with evidence: gitbot-fleet#640, gitbot-fleet#641.
Each local file now records the divergence and the issue, so a future re-sync
does not silently reintroduce it.

A status document that changes its receipt without saying so is the defect this
branch exists to fix, so the changelog records what moved: the policy (ruling
2026-10-26, amended 2026-11-01, pinned 46ee1832), the local ruling amendment, the
re-baselined Agda receipt under §2.1, the trust-base records, the scope caveat,
and 15 → 26 controls.

The two governing documents are not interchangeable, and the repo was only
answering one of them. `mathesis/estate-mathematical-architecture` **defines the
grades** (§5) and the record discipline (§6, §11); the standards PROOF-POLICY
(pinned 46ee1832, ruling 2026-10-26, amended 2026-11-01) says where a proof lives
and how the legs are rechecked. So the grade-3 claim is now traced to both:

  §5 type-checks in Agda → receipt 41314454646 @ 3cd1859, re-typed every run
§5 not translated → both legs `open`; that IS the rung 3
§5 solvers flags (e.g. --safe --erasure | Full --cubical)
                                    → --safe --without-K --cubical-compatible;
deviation recorded, §2.1 makes it canonical
  §5 family note (2ii = non-DTT) → FAMILIES map: agda/rocq/lean4 dtt, isabelle hol
§6 no percentages → tokens only; ladder prints "recorded, not estimated"
§6 axiom tracking → 0 postulates under --safe; no recheck axiom list
exists yet, and none is invented
§6 receipt commit → full 40-char SHA required by the gate
§6 Superseded / Regressed → new `state` on every retained receipt
§11 no drift, inflation, false claims → anchors re-read, unclaimed witnesses refused

The one item mathesis §6 asked for and the ledger did not carry: a retained
receipt had no state. The pre-§2.1 Agda receipt is now `state: "superseded"`, and
the gate refuses an archived receipt with no state or with a state outside
`superseded | regressed` — otherwise a dead receipt is indistinguishable from a
live one, which is the drift §6 exists to stop. Grade_deviation now names
PROOF-POLICY §2.1 as the authority for the flag difference and mathesis's own
"e.g." as why the parenthetical is illustrative rather than closed.

Controls: 26 → 28 (unmarked superseded receipt; state outside the pair). PROOF-STATUS
gains the clause-by-clause table, and the prose avoids asserting any rung above 3
in the gate's vocabulary — the ladder is described, not claimed.

…rusted-base policy

The proof rules of this estate are not one document. Reconciliation pass against
all five that bear on a grade-3 claim, with the strict reading named wherever they
disagree:

PROOF-POLICY (pinned 46ee1832) where a proof lives, rechecks, routes, waiver
README-EXPLAINME §5 a second ledger shape, and a *required* ratio
TRUSTED-BASE-REDUCTION-POLICY escape-hatch tiers, dispositions, debt register
mathesis §5/§6/§11 the grade ladder, lineage, no inflation
LANGUAGE/TOOLING-VERSION policies how toolchains are pinned

Twelve disagreements recorded in D-2026-11-01-policy-reconciliation, each with the
weak reading it currently licenses. The sharpest: PROOF-POLICY §2.1 standardises
the Agda invocation while TRUSTED-BASE says "how a repository invokes its prover
is its own business" — cite the latter and a `--safe`-only lane is defensible,
which is what §2.1 was amended to stop. Also: mathesis 2i needs ONE translation
while §2 requires two; mathesis wants Superseded/Regressed while the vocabulary
is closed; README-EXPLAINME *requires* a proven-over-all-rows ratio while
mathesis forbids flattening confidence; and §6 requires Guix/container with no
deviation mechanism at all, unlike §4.

Two of them were this repository's to fix, and both were failing:

1. The estate trusted-base gate was RED on this tree. Running the estate's own
scripts/check-trusted-base.sh: "No docs/proof-debt.md (or equivalent) found,
but 1 escape hatches exist" — the marker being the planted `Admitted` in the
instrument fixture. Added docs/proof-debt.md (all four dispositions, honestly
empty) and .trusted-base-ignore for tests/proofs/control/ with the rationale
that those fixtures exist to be detected. Result: core_undocumented=0,
   core_exempted=1, exit 0.

2. Our escape-hatch scan knew 7 tokens; the estate's CORE tier has 16. It missed
   Coq `Axiom`, Lean `axiom`, Idris2 `really_believe_me`/`partial`, F* `assume
   val`/`admit_p`, `unsafePerformIO` — so a proof could carry a core-tier escape
hatch and pass both our gates. Widened, and the ledger gate's own duplicate
copy of the pattern list is gone: it delegates to the scanner (--scan-file,
   --patterns). One list, one meaning.

Also: `partial`/`assume` are anchored to Idris2/F* line starts so identifiers and
prose do not trip them; the scan now covers `verification` *and* `tests` (the
estate checker scans the whole repo, so a superset is the only honest scope), and
it refuses a proof-bearing repo with no debt register.

PROOF-NEEDS.adoc said "Tier T5 — Exempt" and stopped, which reads as "the proof
policy does not apply here" and would have excused the open Rocq/Lean legs. It
now says what exemption actually means: exempt from the RSR template's *mandated*
obligations, not from the policy — hosting a proof makes this repo proof-bearing
for the trusted-base policy and for §7.

Controls: 28 → 30 (planted Coq `Axiom`; missing debt register).

…m issues

standards#1389 carries the seven standards-side items; mathesis#11 the five
grade-ladder items. A record that says "goes upstream" without a number is an
intention, not a handover.

… the receipt

The sandbox has no root, no apt and no GitHub release assets, so no mapped prover
was installable from source. What *was* reachable: PyPI, npm and codeload. PyPI
carries an Agda 2.7.0.1 manylinux wheel (GHC 9.6.5), and codeload serves the
source of agda-stdlib v2.3, echo-types@b0982c44 and absolute-zero@f486c29 — the
exact pins in the ledger. With the wheel's missing `data/lib/prim` restored from
the matching Agda source tree and the four library manifests registered, the
canonical invocation type-checks locally:

  agda --safe --without-K --cubical-compatible EchoTyping.agda   -> exit 0
  agda --safe --without-K --cubical-compatible Verification.agda -> exit 0

and the same session rejects a planted `⊥` (exit 42), so the pass is not vacuous.

That answers one question — is the proof an artifact of Agda 2.8.0? — and not the
one the grade rests on. §2.1 pins the compiler version *with* the result, so this
is recorded as `.local_evidence` with `corroboration_only: true`, naming wheel,
GHC version, library pins, invocation and result. The gate refuses a local run
that drops that flag ("cannot stand in for the pinned receipt") or omits its
toolchain ("cannot be reproduced"): controls 31 and 32.

Still blocked, and now measured rather than assumed: Rust/Creusot, Lean 4, Rocq
and Idris2 need either root+apt, or release assets from
release-assets.githubusercontent.com, or ghcup/downloads.haskell.org — all three
are outside this sandbox's egress. z3 (5.3.3) and cvc5 (1.4.2) installed from
PyPI; they are SMT checkers, not a §2 recheck leg.

…rom evidence

epistemic-types now formalises the object XP-1 talks about, differently: its
`EchoBridge.Echo` is a CERTIFIED RESIDUE (`residue`, `certified : Cert residue y`)
over a `Retention` record (`observe/retain/Cert/sound`), where echo-types' `Echo f
y` — the one XP-1 uses — is a fibre `Σ A (λ x → f x ≡ y)`. Neither imports the
other. XP-1 says nothing about epistemic-types' warrant transport
(`checkerSound`, `proofCannotSupportFalse`, `opaqueNotCertifying`,
`verifyReceiptIsGap`) or its `tests/reject/ForgedResidue.agda`.

That is the confusion case with the worst failure mode: a reader who sees two
"Echo" developments and one proven theorem concludes the theorem covers both.
Neither existing array fits it. `.source.assumptions` means "what this proof
rests on" and would be a lie (nothing is imported). A caveat alone is too weak to
gate. So `.source.related_developments` is added for exactly this: relation
stated, evidence noted, `consumed_by_this_proof: false` REQUIRED, and claiming
consumption there is a failure ("then it belongs in .source.assumptions") — which
stops the double-count in either direction.

Recorded at epistemic-types `5422cd5b`, with its header flags read at the pin
(`--safe --without-K --cubical-compatible --exact-split --no-sized-types
--no-guardedness` — the same combined profile §2.1 fixes, plus stricter extras),
and its own PROOF-STATUS claims (36 modules, `--no-libraries`, zero postulates,
`--double-check -W error`).

Controls: 32 → 34 (sibling counted as consumed; related development with no
relation).

…trument

Each of these let a run look green without doing the work it claimed.

* check-proofs.sh — an unrecognised MANIFEST status was read as `quarantine`,
so a misspelt `gatde` turned a broken module into an *expected* failure. Only
`gated` and `quarantine` are statuses now; anything else fails before
  compilation and says why.
* check-proofs.sh — the toolchain probe ran before the "is there any work?"
question, so `proof-check-idris2` demanded Idris2 in a repository with no
Idris proof (and made `proof-check-all` impossible on a machine with no reason
to carry every prover). Nothing to compile now exits 0 first; a toolchain
missing while work exists is still fatal, never a skip.
* check-proof-ledger.sh — a `dependency-pin` assumption with neither `version`
nor `commit` satisfied the trust-base rule while pinning nothing; deleting the
Agda version left the audit green. Control 40 plants exactly that.
* proof-scan-dangerous.sh — the receipt redirect could fail silently (the
Justfile passes target/proof-receipts/..., which does not exist on a fresh
checkout), so the scan exited 0 with the evidence it advertises missing. The
  directory is created up front and a receipt write failure is now a failure;
the three write sites share one helper so they cannot diverge again.

Also: `.trusted-base-ignore` and `docs/proof-debt.md`/`.adoc` now trigger the
proof lane. They are scanner *policy* inputs — the exemption list and the
required register — so a change to either changes what the gate means, and it
should have to run the gate. And the debt register names all four planted
fixtures, including PlantedAdmit.v, and says plainly that the two closed
fixtures are exempted only because the exemption is by directory.

Controls: 40 expectations, 0 violations.

…the API rejects

The escape-hatch scan removed `(* … *)`, `{- … -}`, `--` and `//` from every
file regardless of language. That is wrong in the direction that matters: `(*`
is a comment in Coq and TLA+ but ordinary text in Lean, so a Lean file with
`(* Axiom foo : False *)` had the axiom read as commented out and the scan
called it clean. The delimiters now come from the extension — Agda and Idris2
take `--` and `{- -}`, Lean takes `--`, `//` and `/- -/`, Coq takes `(* *)` and
nothing else, TLA+ takes `\*` and `(* *)`.

Two smaller corrections in the same function: double-quoted strings are masked
before comment delimiters are looked for (a `"--"` inside a string is text, and a
banned word inside a string is not code), and an unknown extension is scanned
raw rather than guessed at — stripping nothing can only cause a false positive,
which someone fixes, while guessing a syntax can hide an escape hatch, which
nobody sees again. Only double quotes are masked: `'` is part of an ordinary
identifier in Agda and Idris2.

Controls 41 and 42 pin both directions with new self-declaring fixtures:
PlantedLeanBlockText.lean must be refused, and ControlCommentAxiom.v — a real
Coq comment that mentions Axiom and admit — must be accepted. 42 expectations, 0
violations.

Also, from review: the commented-out VeriSimDB example in tests/e2e.sh posted
`{tool, modality, content}`, but `OctadRequest` is `deny_unknown_fields` over
{title, body, embedding, types, relationships, tensor, provenance, spatial,
metadata}, so anyone who uncommented it got 422. The example now posts title and
body and says why. And the checkout in proof-ci.yml no longer persists the job
token: nothing in the lane pushes, and its one clone is of a public library.

Co-authored-by: arena-agent <297053741+arena-agent@users.noreply.github.com>
The page said kernel queries are the only accepted evidence that a compiled
witness is closed, which is true, and left open whether the lane runs them over
the witnesses it compiles. It does not, yet: it compiles what a MANIFEST gates
and audits the ledger's recorded axiom lists, and the queries are exercised on
the control fixtures. An axiom imported from another module would not be caught
by the compile step.

That is now written down, with the shape of the fix and issue #131, rather than
being a property a reader has to infer from a green run.

Co-authored-by: arena-agent <297053741+arena-agent@users.noreply.github.com>
Three corrections from re-review, all small and all in the same direction — a
citation that resolves, and a comment syntax that does not eat code.

* `//` is not a Lean comment. `{ n // n = 0 }` is subtype notation, so treating
`//` as a line comment truncated the line and could hide anything after it.
  Lean now takes `--` and `/- -/` only. PlantedLeanSubtype.lean puts a `sorry`
behind subtype notation on one line, and control 43 requires it to be found.
* Control 41 now distinguishes a finding from a failure to scan: it demands exit
1 *and* a FAIL line, and treats a missing fixture or a BLOCKED scanner as a
violation. A control that passes on any non-zero exit would go green on a
crash — the same trap as control 24, one layer up.
* `PROOF-STATUS.adoc` gains an explicit `[[waivers]]` anchor, because AsciiDoc
does not mint `#waivers` from a heading on its own: the waiver rule resolves
citations in the file itself, and an anchor that only looks resolvable is
exactly the defect that rule exists to catch.
* The status table called run 41299544043 "the receipt pinned in the ledger".
It is historical evidence; the ledger pins run 41314454646, which superseded it
when the stdlib moved to v2.4. Both are receipts for the Agda leg, neither for
  XP-1 as a whole.

Controls: 43 expectations, 0 violations. Boundary, scan and the estate
trusted-base checker all pass (9 files exempted by path, 4 core-tier markers, all
exempted, none undocumented).

Co-authored-by: arena-agent <297053741+arena-agent@users.noreply.github.com>
Extend scripts/check-proofs.sh so every gated Rocq or Lean module in MANIFEST is compiled in an isolated scratch workspace and checked at the kernel level against verification/proofs/LEDGER.json:
- Rocq (coq): run coqchk -Q . "" -silent -o <module> (enforcing predicative Set and <none> for type-in-type, unsafe (co)fixpoints, and assumed positivity) plus a generated Print Assumptions <module>.<decl>. probe per recorded declaration, failing on any undeclared or stale axiom.
- Lean 4 (lean4): compile .olean and run a generated import + #print axioms probe per recorded declaration, unconditionally rejecting sorryAx and failing on any undeclared or stale axiom.
- Record verbatim assumption-query output in target/proof-receipts/witness-<prover>.txt.
- Align ledger schema, reconciliation vocabulary (AGDA-VERIFIED / NOT-INVENTORIED / BRIDGE-PENDING), and authority routing with hyperpolymath/mathesis and metadatastician/standards 3-practice/PROOF-POLICY.adoc.
- Expand bidirectional controls (§7) to 51 ledger controls + 15 kernel/witness controls (K1-K15), including lexically clean standard-library and cross-module imported axiom/sorryAx fixtures, and update PROOF-STATUS.adoc.

Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added automated proof validation in CI, with checks for registered proofs, unsafe proof patterns, ledger consistency and supported prover results.
    • Proof checks now produce receipts and summaries, including when validation fails.
  • Improvements
    • Missing required proof tools now block checks rather than being silently skipped. Open recheck steps are reported as outstanding, not as verified.
  • Documentation
    • Updated proof status, requirements and decision records to describe current evidence, limitations and recheck obligations.

The change adds proof enrolment, ledger auditing, prover and assumption checks, control tests, and a hosted proof workflow. It records XP-1’s current proof status and updates VeriSimDB integration metadata, repository metadata and the workflow-linter tool version.

Changes: Proof validation

  • hyperpolymath/nextgen-typing#131 — The prover checker queries Rocq and Lean assumptions for gated witnesses, compares them with ledger entries, and records query output in receipts.

Suggested reviewers: claude

Merge Risk: Low · previous review f69b4

The proof gates are mostly sound, with a few bounded gaps. The Rocq assumption check is more permissive than intended, the ledger gate can report false findings when run from another directory, and PROOF-STATUS.adoc claims more ledger reconciliation than the gate performs. Several documentation statements also need correcting before merge, but none blocks a normal CI run.

Explanation

[#131] Requirement 1, Rocq: The summary states that scripts/check-proofs.sh runs coqchk -Q . "" -silent -o <module> on each gated .vo. It rejects unsafe type-in-type, (co)fixpoint and positivity settings. It compares * Axioms: output with the claiming leg's axioms list in LEDGER.json. This covers the requirement to fail on axioms not named in the leg, and on any axiom when the leg records axioms: [].

[#131] Requirement 1, per-declaration check: The script generates Require <module>. Print Assumptions <module>.<decl>. probes for every recorded target declaration. It accepts only Closed under the global context or output that matches the ledger entry. It fails closed otherwise.

[#131] Requirement 2, Lean: The script compiles each gated module to .olean in a scratch directory. It generates import <module> and #print axioms <decl> probes for each recorded declaration. It rejects sorryAx unconditionally, including across imports. It fails on any unrecorded or stale axiom.

[#131] Requirement 3, receipts: just proof-check-{coq,lean4,agda,idris2} writes witness-<prover>.txt. The receipt holds the verbatim coqchk, Print Assumptions and #print axioms output, or a gated-modules: 0 notice. The Proof CI workflow uploads the receipts.

[#131] Documentation: PROOF-STATUS.adoc removes the #131 open-gap note and documents the live checks, as the issue asks once the behaviour is wired. Controls K1–K15 and the ledger controls exercise the checks on fixtures. These include stdlib-imported axioms, cross-module sorryAx and stale ledger entries.

Limit: The ledger has no gated Rocq or Lean module at this head. The coq and lean4 MANIFEST files list no artifact, and the receipts record gated-modules: 0. The query mechanism exists, but it runs on zero production modules now. This assessment relies on the PR summary and description. No source file was inspected directly.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The following changes have no connection to the #131 objective of querying kernel assumptions for compiled witnesses:

  • .github/workflows/workflow-linter.yml: upgrades gh-actions-lock from v0.1.6 to v0.4.0 and changes the checksum.
  • .machine_readable/descriptiles/NEUROSYM.a2ml: changes the version from 0.1.0 to 0.2.0, changes last-updated, and changes report-format from logtalk to json.
  • .machine_readable/integrations/verisimdb.a2ml: changes the repository identity, the format from hexad to verisimdb.octad.v1, and the destination path.
  • tests/e2e.sh: changes the commented VeriSimDB example from /api/v1/hexads to /api/v1/octads and changes its request fields.
  • CLAUDE.md: changes the placement table entry for tropical/semiring type-theory work.

These files are not proof-lane files. The PR summary gives no link between them and the assumption-query work.

Secondary concern: The ledger and reconciliation rules (cross-prover reconciliation states, per-leg declarations mapping, exact gated MANIFEST enforcement, and acceptance of >= 1 DTT legs at Grade 2i) go beyond the #131 axiom query. The policy-reconciliation documents (D-2026-11-01, docs/proof-debt.md, PROOF-NEEDS.adoc) are also broader than #131. These may belong to the stacked #130 lane. The summary does not show that they are needed for #131.

The supporting changes that implement #131 are in scope. These include proof-ci.yml, check-proofs.sh, the receipts in the Justfile, the control fixtures, and the .trusted-base-ignore update.

Resolution

Remove the unrelated changes from this pull request: workflow-linter.yml, NEUROSYM.a2ml, verisimdb.a2ml, tests/e2e.sh, and the CLAUDE.md tropical-types placement entry. Submit each one in a separate pull request under its own issue. For the reconciliation and grade-rule changes and the policy-reconciliation documents, either show that #130 requires them and move them to that lane, or move them to a separate pull request. Then re-run this assessment.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 44.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 25 functions across 8 files. (31 skipped: 31 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

P2 Badge Enrol literate Agda Markdown sources

When a proof is added as an Agda-supported .lagda.md file, this filter removes it before prover_of_path or the registry checks run. The dangerous-pattern scanner explicitly recognizes *.lagda.*, but the ledger census and compiler manifest do not, so such a file can live under verification/proofs/ without being registered, compiled, or claimed by the ledger while CI remains green. Preserve .lagda.md here and either wire it into the Agda manifest/compiler path or reject it explicitly.

P2 Badge Require formal declarations before checking statement drift

If .statement_formal.declarations is deleted or changed to an empty array, this optional iteration performs no checks and the ledger still passes because statement_anchor is validated separately. The source theorem types are then no longer pinned, so those types can change without invalidating the recorded statement comparison—the exact drift this section is intended to prevent. Require a non-empty declaration array and ensure it covers every statement anchor before iterating.

P2 Badge Reject a missing Agda import-cone inventory

When .source.import_cone or its modules array is absent, // [] makes this audit execute zero times and the ledger passes even though the recorded Agda files import external modules. That silently removes the dependency inventory, option flags, and postulate counts that the ledger describes as its trust base. Require the import-cone record to exist and contain the imported modules before validating individual counts.

P2 Badge Validate source axioms independently of import-cone counts

The source axiom list is inspected only inside the branch for an import-cone module whose postulate count is greater than zero. Consequently, a source with status: "proven" and a non-empty .source.axioms array still passes whenever all recorded module counts are zero (or the cone is missing), contradicting the meaning of proven. Apply the same empty/non-empty axiom-list consistency checks used for recheck legs directly to every source status.

P2 Badge Build manifest dependencies before their importers

Manifest entries are compiled serially in file order, so a valid multi-file witness fails whenever its primary module appears before a local support module that it imports: the required .olean or .vo does not exist yet in the staged tree. Lean loads imported dependencies from their intermediate module files (Lean reference), while Rocq's Require loads compiled .vo files (Rocq reference). Either derive a dependency order/use the prover build tooling, or explicitly validate and document that support modules must precede importers.

Useful? React with 👍 / 👎.

Review comments at @.github/workflows/proof-ci.yml:
- Around line 12-14: Correct the Agda verification description in the proof CI
header and the corresponding claims in Justfile, the proofs README, and the Agda
MANIFEST to state that CI re-typechecks the Agda leg via `just
proof-check-agda`. Update the ledger-control count in the header to match the 51
controls documented by `run-controls.sh` and numbered by
`run-ledger-controls.sh`.

Review comments at @.machine_readable/integrations/verisimdb.a2ml:
- Line 30: Update the feed writer configured by destination to emit the declared
verisimdb.octad.v1 format and preserve the scan output required by the index,
which includes only top-level files under scans/. Ensure writing to
verisimdb-data/scans/octads/ does not leave the index without the required scan
output.

Review comments at @docs/proof-debt.md:
- Around line 38-39: Update the LEDGER.json reference in the documentation so it
points to `.caveats` alongside `.source.assumptions`; do not describe caveats as
a field of `.source`.

Review comments at @PROOF-STATUS.adoc:
- Around line 31-32: Update the caveat count in the sentence introducing the
bullets to match the four bullets that follow, changing “Three” to “Four” while
leaving the caveat list unchanged.
- Around line 9-12: Narrow the reconciliation claim in the PROOF-STATUS summary
to the documented grade fields checked by scripts/check-proof-ledger.sh. State
that just proof-ledger-check fails when a documented grade differs from the
ledger; do not imply that it reconciles other proof details.
- Around line 463-465: Update the documented exit behaviour for the `just
proof-check-*` recipes: missing required provers produce exit 1, while exit 2
remains reserved for CLI misuse; keep the typecheck-failure behaviour accurate
and apply the correction consistently to the Idris2, Lean4 and Coq equivalents
of `just proof-check-agda`.
- Around line 152-155: Update the §6 receipt-state rule in the ledger summary to
apply only to historical receipts under .source.evidence.historical_evidence[],
not the active source receipt; retain the existing state, reason, and gate
requirements for historical entries.
- Line 6: Add the MPL-2.0 SPDX licence identifier at the start of
PROOF-STATUS.adoc, before the title, using valid AsciiDoc comment syntax.

Review comments at @scripts/check-proof-ledger.sh:
- Line 89: Update the `proof-scan-dangerous.sh` invocation to resolve the
scanner from the already-computed `ROOT` rather than `dirname "$0"`. Preserve
the existing scan-file argument and output/exit-status capture.
- Around line 252-253: Replace the predictable `/tmp/proof-ledger-rows.$$.tsv`
path in the row-generation and read paths with a uniquely created temporary
file. Create it with `mktemp` and install its cleanup trap before writing to it,
then use the same path for the redirect and the loop input.

Review comments at @scripts/check-proofs.sh:
- Around line 340-342: Update the Rocq axiom-validation flow so allow-list
matches cannot accept an admitted theorem before its source declaration is
checked. For module-local names, verify the source declares an Axiom, Parameter,
or Conjecture before allowing the match; apply the equivalent check to staged
support-module declarations and recognise declarations whose type starts on the
next line. Add a kernel-level control confirming an admitted witness listed in
.axioms is refused.

Review comments at @verification/proofs/agda/MANIFEST:
- Around line 1-3: Add the required MPL-2.0 SPDX header as the first line of
each new proof MANIFEST and .trusted-base-ignore file. Preserve their existing
contents; the comment parsers skip lines beginning with #, so the header must
remain in that form.

Review comments at @verification/proofs/README.adoc:
- Line 124: Correct the field path in the README text from plural
`sources.related_developments` to singular `source.related_developments`,
matching the ledger schema and the path read by `scripts/check-proof-ledger.sh`.
- Around line 177-180: Update the local Agda typecheck example in the README to
use the canonical check from scripts/check-proofs.sh agda, or show an equivalent
invocation that includes --safe, --without-K and --cubical-compatible.

604-610: Functional Correctness

The repository logic supports the reported failure only if Coq 8.18 prints a shortened external name for this probe. The available documentation does not establish that output, and the local Coq probe could not run. The finding and proposed suffix mapping remain undecidable.

Preserve indexed scan output for the octad destination.

The configured destination, verisimdb-data/scans/octads/, is excluded from the per-repository index because the index scans only top-level files under scans/. If the feed writer writes scan results only to this destination, those results will not appear in that index. Ensure that the writer emits the declared verisimdb.octad.v1 format and preserves any required indexed scan output.

Update the feed writer configured by destination to emit the declared
verisimdb.octad.v1 format and preserve the scan output required by the index,
which includes only top-level files under scans/. Ensure writing to
verisimdb-data/scans/octads/ does not leave the index without the required scan
output.

P2 Badge Preserve a nonempty history baseline

When a theorem's entire .history field is deleted, (.history // [])[] emits no rows, and the subsequent last-entry check is skipped as well. I verified that removing XP-1's history still makes check-proof-ledger.sh pass, so the recorded Agda re-baselining—or any later promotion or regression—can be erased silently despite this section's stated guarantee that history records cannot be dropped. Require a baseline history entry for each theorem or otherwise detect removal of existing history.

P2 Badge Scope Agda flag checks to Agda source legs

When an engineering theorem uses the supported Idris2 source path, this unconditional comparison still requires its ledger CLI flags to equal the Agda invocation; the following checks also fold the Agda flags into the effective set and demand --safe. Consequently, a valid Idris2 engineering proof can never pass the ledger gate even though kind: engineering, the Idris2 manifest directory, and check-proofs.sh idris2 are all explicitly supported. Apply this block only when sprover is agda, and use prover-specific validation for other source legs.

P2 Badge Fail when the enrolment receipt cannot be written

When --receipt points to an unwritable location, the receipt redirection failure is not checked and the script continues to print receipt written before returning success. I reproduced this with a receipt below /proc: the shell reported that the file could not be created, but the gate exited 0. This can leave Proof CI green without the enrolment evidence it promises to upload, so treat directory creation or the receipt write itself as a fatal error.

P1 Badge Reject blank theorem IDs before per-theorem audits

When a theorem's .id is an empty string, this duplicate-only check accepts it and nearly every later audit skips the row via [ -z "$tid" ] && continue. I verified that blanking XP-1's ID makes the gate exit 0 while also suppressing its policy-gap reporting and per-theorem validation. Require every ID to be a nonempty, non-whitespace string before running the keyed audit loops.

P2 Badge Bind each waiver to its leg's prover

When a waiver's tool names a different prover from the enclosing leg, this code checks only that the field is nonempty and that the cited file mentions that unrelated tool. I verified that the required rocq leg can be waived with tool: "lean4" and a Lean-specific reason while the ledger still passes, incorrectly removing the Rocq obligation. Require the waiver tool to match the leg's prover, including only deliberate aliases such as Rocq/Coq.

P1 Badge Reject unsupported source provers before skipping compilation

For an engineering theorem whose .source.prover is misspelled or unsupported, this case leaves src_mdir empty, and the subsequent condition silently skips the MANIFEST check while the source can still carry status: "proven" and support the recorded grade. A new engineering entry with no history can therefore point at an arbitrary existing file and pass without any compiler recipe ever checking its claimed source proof; fail on unknown source provers rather than treating an empty src_mdir as exempt.

P1 Badge Strip Agda comments before accepting formal signatures

When an Agda declaration's actual type changes but the old name : type text remains in a -- or block comment, this raw whole-file substring search still sets found=1. The compiler then checks the new declaration while the ledger continues to accept the stale formal statement, defeating the statement-drift guard; compare against parsed declarations or at least comment-stripped source.

P1 Badge Propagate jq failures from source-audit row generation

If a source field has the wrong JSON type, this process substitution can make jq fail while the surrounding while simply receives zero rows and the script continues. For example, changing source.flags_provenance.file_options from an array to a string emits cannot be sorted but the ledger gate still exits 0, skipping the entire source-prover, manifest, flag, anchor, formal-statement, and escape-hatch-evidence audit for that theorem. Capture and check the producer's status, or validate these field types before consuming the rows, so malformed ledger input fails closed.

P1 Badge Verify the Lean archive against a committed digest

If the versioned GitHub release asset is replaced or the download source is compromised, this step records the digest of the substituted bytes but never compares it with a trusted value before extracting and executing them. A malicious archive can provide a lean binary that prints 4.15.0 and accepts invalid witnesses, so the later version check does not pin the proof kernel as claimed. Store the expected archive digest in the repository and verify it before extraction, as the Agda installation step already does.

P1 Badge Bind Lean target declarations to the witness modules

When a Lean leg maps its anchors to declarations imported from core Lean or another unrecorded module, the generated probe accepts those names without checking that the artifact or one of its declared support files defines them. An otherwise empty witness can therefore map the anchors to distinct axiom-free declarations such as core constructors, make every #print axioms query pass, and support a proven leg without implementing the recheck statement. Verify each mapped declaration's defining module belongs to the claimed artifact/support set before accepting its axiom result.

P2 Badge Strip comments before collecting declared axioms

When a Rocq or Lean block comment contains a prose line beginning with Axiom, Parameter, Conjecture, or axiom, this raw grep reports it as a real declaration. scan_one then rejects an otherwise closed witness as having an undeclared axiom, despite the escape-hatch scanner correctly treating the same text as a comment. Run the declaration census over comment-stripped source so ordinary explanatory comments do not break the proof lane.

…) and harden proof gates (#133)

## Summary

Completes the remaining proof-verification obligations following PR #132
(and superseded PRs #130 / #129): runs `just proof-check-all` in
`.github/workflows/proof-ci.yml`, discharges `XP-1`'s `PROOF-POLICY §2`
Rocq and core Lean 4 recheck legs, promotes `XP-1` from Grade `3` to
**Grade `2i`** (`AGDA-VERIFIED` / `COQ-CHECKED` / `LEAN-CHECKED` /
`RECONCILED`) with pinned CI receipts
(`8bdfd5a69a6bc34dcf1faa19ad617aaea0edd158`, run `41539844452`), hardens
the proof audit/kernel scripts against PR #132's post-merge review edge
cases, and closes #57.

> **Note on #57's legacy template paths (`ApiTypes.lean`,
`TypeSafety.v`, `idris2`):** Single-project RSR template scaffold proofs
were removed on `2026-06-19` per
`.machine_readable/bot_directives/placement.a2ml` and
`docs/decisions/D-2026-11-01-policy-reconciliation.adoc` because
`nextgen-typing` is a coordination repository that permits cross-project
proofs only. `.github/workflows/proof-ci.yml` now executes `just
proof-check-all` directly (`proof-enrolment`, `proof-ledger-check`,
`proof-check-idris2`, `proof-check-lean4`, `proof-check-agda`,
`proof-check-coq`, `proof-scan-dangerous`) across all enrolled
cross-project proofs (`EchoTyping.agda`, `Verification.agda`,
`EchoTyping.v`, `EchoTyping.lean`).

## Changes

- **XP-1 Rocq & Core Lean 4 Recheck Witnesses (`PROOF-POLICY §2`, Grade
`2i`)**:
- `verification/proofs/coq/EchoTyping.v` (`gated` in
`verification/proofs/coq/MANIFEST`): Coq 8.18 `Init.Prelude`
formalisation over `Type`-valued `sigT` and `prod` plus explicit CIC
convoy matching (zero `JMeq_eq` / Streicher's K), proving `tp_echo_1`,
`tp_echo_2`, `tp_echo_3`, `affine_typing_proof_irrelevant`, and
`subsume_coherent` (`Closed under the global context` under `coqchk
-silent -o` and `Print Assumptions`).
- `verification/proofs/lean4/EchoTyping.lean` (`gated` in
`verification/proofs/lean4/MANIFEST`): Core Lean 4.15.0 `Init`-only
formalisation (zero Mathlib, zero axioms), proving
`EchoTyping.tp_echo_1..3` over `Type`-valued `PSigma`/`PProd` plus
`Type`-valued Martin-Löf `Path` companions
`EchoTyping.tp_echo_1_path..3_path` (`Sigma` + `Prod` + `Empty`).
- Enrolled both files in
`.machine_readable/bot_directives/placement.a2ml` and
`scripts/check-coordination-boundary.sh`; updated
`verification/proofs/LEDGER.json`, `PROOF-STATUS.adoc`,
`verification/proofs/README.adoc`, and `docs/proof-debt.md`.
- **Proof CI & Toolchain Integrity (`.github/workflows/proof-ci.yml`)**:
- Switched the main CI sweep to `just proof-check-all` (running
`proof-enrolment`, `proof-ledger-check`, `proof-check-idris2`,
`proof-check-lean4`, `proof-check-agda`, `proof-check-coq`, and
`proof-scan-dangerous`).
- Pinned and verified `LEAN_LINUX_SHA256`
(`af71a2569a9f68337de2434829b3008cd8e32c436e9cb6bd8c84a2c2ba3585c9`) via
`sha256sum -c` prior to archive extraction.
- **Audit & Kernel Gate Hardening**:
- `scripts/proof-scan-dangerous.sh`: Added nested block-comment depth
tracking and `--strip-comments <file>`.
- `scripts/check-proofs.sh`: Bound Lean `legs[].declarations` to
declarations owned by the leg's claimed `.lean` modules via both
comment-stripped module scan and `Lean.Environment.getModuleIdxFor?`
kernel origin query; switched Coq local `Axiom` verification to
comment-stripped source.
- `scripts/check-proof-ledger.sh`: Enforced non-blank theorem IDs, JSON
container shapes, non-empty `.history`, `engineering -> idris2` and
`theory -> agda` `.source.prover` rules, comment-stripped Agda
signature/anchor and `scan_declared_axioms` checks, and `.waiver.tool`
<-> leg `.prover` binding.
- `scripts/check-proof-enrolment.sh`: Fail closed (`exit 1`) on
unwritable `--receipt`.
- `.machine_readable/integrations/verisimdb.a2ml`: Documented
`verisimdb-data/scans/` top-level index vs `scans/octads/` layout.

## Testing

- `bash scripts/check-coordination-boundary.sh` — PASS
- `bash scripts/check-proof-enrolment.sh --static-only` — PASS (4 proof
sources enrolled across Agda, Rocq, Lean 4)
- `bash scripts/proof-scan-dangerous.sh` — PASS (4 proof sources clean,
nested-comment-aware)
- `bash scripts/check-proof-ledger.sh` — PASS (1 theorem, Grade `2i`, 2
proven recheck legs, 0 policy gaps)
- `bash tests/proofs/run-ledger-controls.sh` — PASS (63/63 ledger-form
expectations held, 0 violations)
- GitHub Actions `Proof CI` (`just proof-check-all` +
`tests/proofs/run-controls.sh` on Ubuntu 24.04 with Agda 2.8.0, Coq
8.18.0, Lean 4.15.0) — PASS (63 ledger + 18 kernel expectations held, 0
violations; `EchoTyping.agda`, `Verification.agda`, `EchoTyping.v`,
`EchoTyping.lean` all verified axiom-free)
