docs: epistemic frontier capstone map + O1/O3 decisions (46..49 activation, W = thought layer) - #1597
Conversation
….49 decisions Capstone tree (address space -> alpha channel -> 64 thought layers -> presence bits -> CE64 fields -> ladders -> NAL -> front ends), with file and status per node. Records DECISION O1 (46..49 = activation i4) and O3 (W = thought layer), marks WitnessTable as a foreign-key VIOLATION, and supersedes the D-CGW-9 line in ce64-semantic-upper-half.md. Keep evidence identity separate from thought layers
For an observation copied across layers, or two independent observations placed in one layer, this mapping treats the thought ID/presence mask as the witness identity. That contradicts D-HL-3 in .claude/plans/ce64-hypothesis-layers-v1.md, which requires each delta to carry a separate evidential-base bitset and explicitly says layer membership must not affect independence. Implementing this canonical map would either count duplicated evidence twice or collapse independent evidence, corrupting revision confidence; retain the per-delta evidence source alongside the layer.

Partly right. Independence for revision cannot be keyed on the lane, so a source bitset per delta (D-HL-3) decides it; the table now says so. But that bitset is not a side reference stored next to the layer. A thought runs in one of 64 isolated epistemic lanes, and when it materializes, that lane becomes its sparse storage layer (alpha channel, split tunnel, merge on read). The lane is the thought. Fixed in ea0b1e4 and the follow-up commit.

Distinguish current frontend lowering paths from the target design
This states that every listed frontend currently lowers through R2IL, but the preceding table includes the nonexistent lance-graph-cog, while lance-graph-metta is only a probe whose crate dependencies and src/lib.rs show hand-lowering through Quack directly into mask-risc, with no R2IL dependency. Since this file is now the mandatory architecture map, readers can infer and build against an executor path that does not exist; label this as a target topology or document the current per-frontend paths.

Agreed. §7 now marks "everything lowers to R2IL" as the target and gives each crate's current path. nal and relalg lower through r2il. metta is a probe that lowers by hand through Quack into mask-risc, with no R2IL dependency. cog does not exist yet.

…-end lowering as target topology Codex review on #1597. P1: the presence-bit table read the witnessing source off the thought layer, which contradicts D-HL-3 (per-delta evidential base, layer membership plays no part). Now two rows: layer = which thought holds the state; evidential base = which sources a belief rests on. P2: 'all lower to R2IL' described the target; now states each crate's current path. …des independence Corrects ea0b1e4. A thought runs in one of 64 isolated epistemic lanes, and its materialization is that lane's sparse storage layer (alpha channel, split tunnel, sparse write, merge on read): the lanes in storage are the thoughts that inhabit them, not a side reference. Independence of evidence for revision is a source bitset per delta inside the lane (D-HL-3), never the lane number. Working model: W is pure address like a node's classid. 0 is the givens lane (the zero fallback), W selects the lane's overlay without decoding a value, it resolves once per session through the 64-entry lane table to what the lane is, and it never carries the evidence sources (D-HL-3 source bitset).
