Summary

.claude/knowledge/thinking-tables-wiring.md checks each element of the thought-table model against the plans, entries and crates of PRs #1447–#1596. Every cited line was read in source.

  • Carried: the 64 tables, per-table write isolation, presence reads at one coordinate, written-by provenance (D-HL-5, D-HOLO H14c/H14d); independence by source bits (D-HL-3, pre-registered, not run).
  • Partly carried: the set AST (one algebra in four spellings, hinge D-RA-2); the fixpoint (operand reuse, external d′ driver, residue fixed point measured); the wave scheduler (schedule_depth.md); uses; metacognition.
  • New: FIFO order as stratum order; a fixpoint inside one table; the written-by queries as the metacognition surface; the table lifecycle as one unit.
  • Open: thoughts vs lanes as the word; session vs storage (D-HL vs docs: epistemic frontier capstone map + O1/O3 decisions (46..49 activation, W = thought layer) #1597); precedence vs fold; derived writes vs split-tunnel rule 7 and law A1; tables as strata under revision (Simpson); D-RA-2; coverage gaps (O8).

Board: entry 2026-10-17-thinking-tables-wiring.md, entries index regenerated, arc entries for #1592, #1595, #1596, #1598, LATEST_STATE line.

Documentation only; no code changed.

Records why the PR #1447-#1596 maps were run and what each row must be
wired to, before the maps are synthesized. Every row starts OPEN.

Fills the wiring document: every element of the thought-table model is
traced to the plan, entry or crate that carries it, with the cited lines
read in source. Rows 1-5 are carried (D-HL-5, D-HOLO H14c/H14d, D-HL-3);
rows 6-10 are partly carried with the gap named; FIFO order as stratum
order, a fixpoint inside one table, the metacognition surface and the
table lifecycle are new. Open points and coverage gaps are listed.

Board entry added; entries index regenerated.

Entries index regenerated from main's version. The wiring doc now cites
the capstone by its path on main.

State, owed decisions (table), PG-Ring resume commands, and the standing
rules that do not survive a fresh container.

Closes O1. Element table, entry and handover use the decided word; the
stale 'seven Haiku maps' line now points at the catalogue in #1600.

DECISION recorded in row 11: thoughts are branches over main (thought 0),
max 64; the squash (D-HL-8) frees the slot and lands as the next sealed
version. Closes O2, answers N2, narrows O4. Open design points listed:
squash through the revision gate, provenance kept through the squash,
strata surviving the squash (Simpson).

A selection of thoughts squashes into an intermediate thought (integration
branch). Slot reuse means provenance rides the source bitset, not the
thought number; per-stratum intermediates keep the Simpson axis.

Main, branch, diff, merge-base, squash, conflict, review, rebase,
integration branch, blame, revert, checkout and branch limit, each with
what already plays the part. Rebase has no counterpart yet.

Squash requires an up-to-date merge-base; rebase moves no data and is
decided by four masks over W (written), R (read) and M (main's change);
stale reads re-run the fixpoint with R AND M as the delta. Missing piece:
a read plane per thought. Falsifier: rebased squash equals a from-scratch
re-run on the new version.

Main/Thought/MergeQueue surface over the decided branch model: branch,
write, read, diff, status, rebase, squash_into, discard, land, blame,
checkout, log. Reuses the alpha mechanics, not the alpha types (alpha holds
attention, never values). Board: STATUS_BOARD rows, INTEGRATION_PLANS entry.

…k or ordered merge

Chosen by operand shape and density; positions by presence rank, no hash
lookups. The dense/sparse crossover is the PG-Ring catalogue's open
measurement, with rebase as its first consumer.

…cade)

The alpha doc separates attention from reference data, not attention from
values; land writes the next sealed version, so the overlay never holds
reference data. D-TGA-1 now carries the overlay to 64 thoughts: a thought
axis beside the rung lanes, presence-rank lookup instead of HashMap.

One land = one sealed version holding the squashed delta and its record;
log is the PR history. Cheaper (only changed cells; split-tunnel rule 2)
and a stable reference (versions are never reused, thought slots are):
blame, revert, checkout and merge-base point at versions.

…off-by-one

0..63 in a code span reads as Rust's half-open range, which stops at 62.
Ranges are now written 0..=63 / 1..=63 with the count beside them. The
branch limit was also off by one: 64 thoughts are main plus 63 branches,
so the 64th branch() is the one refused, not the 65th. D-TGA-1 now tests
both edges (63rd accepted, 64th refused, slot 0 never handed out).

…e, negation order)

- The alpha overlay row stores only its stamp, so carrying it to thoughts
needs the written cells at the claim's coordinate: the claimed row's
value slab, or a sparse value plane under the same presence rank.
  Chosen in D-TGA-1.
- Rebase retracts derived cells that read a changed or deleted cell, then
re-derives (DRed); D-TGA-3 adds a deletion fixture and a disable.
- FIFO alone is not stratification: thoughts record negated reads, land
refuses a dependent before its producer, cycles through negation are
refused at enqueue; D-TGA-6 tests both.
