CI: release scripts take the app's tag format and several packages per build - #391
Make the Framework release scripts usable by both Musescore (currently the case) and now Audacity as they are, supporting Audacity's tag format as parameters:
release/make_tag_name.sh takes TAG_PREFIX (v → Audacity-),
TAG_LABEL_SEPARATOR (rc.2 → rc-2),
added APP_DISPLAY_NAME
added STABLE_RELEASE_LABEL
pre-release number is now read from the MUSE_APP_VERSION_LABEL that version.cmake prints
Audacity prints it: so the tag takes the number the app shows and the package files carry
MuseScore doesn't print it: so it keeps counting tags as before
When having multiple package files per build:
tools/checksum.sh and release/collate_release_binaries.sh take one file name per line in artifact_name.env (providing support for Windows that ships both the MSI and 7z archive),
the checksums file name now comes from CHECKSUMS_FILE (default checksums.sha256.txt as Musescore expect),
BONUS: the collate stage now refuses a package file that has no build checksum (raised by the review).
All parameters defaults are MuseScore's. With no parameters the tag script's output is byte-identical to before, and single-file builds go through checksum and collate unchanged.
Only new behaviour being is the collate refusal BONUS point from above.
The title of the PR describes the problem it addresses.
Each commit's message describes its purpose and effects, and references the issue it resolves. If changes are extensive, there is a sequence of easily reviewable commits.
The code compiles and runs on my machine, preferably after each commit individually. I have manually tested and verified that my changes fulfil their intended purpose.
No prior attempts to resolve this problem exist, or if they do, I listed them in my PR description and described how I avoided repeating past mistakes.
There are no unnecessary changes.
Complete only if applicable:
I created a unit test or vtest to verify the changes I made.
This PR was created using AI assistance; I have read, understood and complied following the guidelines for AI-assisted contributions. The AI tool(s) I used are listed below.
The script wrote the tag as v<version>, MuseScore's form. Audacity's tags
are Audacity-<version>, so the prefix becomes a parameter, with 'v' as
the default. It is used wherever an existing tag is looked up as well.

Between a pre-release type and its number the script wrote a dot, as in
v4.0.0-rc.2. Audacity's tags use a hyphen, Audacity-4.0.0-beta-4, so the
separator becomes a parameter, with '.' as the default.
Step 3 of audacity/audacity#12542.
Assisted-by: Claude Code 2.1.304
The release was named 'MuseScore Studio <version> <label>'. The app name
becomes a parameter with that default, and so does the label of a stable
release, STABLE_RELEASE_LABEL, default 'Release', which may be empty:
Audacity names its releases 'Audacity 4.0.1'.
Step 3 of audacity/audacity#12542.
Assisted-by: Claude Code 2.1.304
The pre-release label was derived from RELEASE_TYPE and the existing tags:
the first beta is 'beta', the next 'beta.2'. An app may name the
pre-release in version.cmake instead, where the app shows the label and
the package files may carry it. When version.cmake prints
MUSE_APP_VERSION_LABEL and it is not empty, the tag now follows it:
'beta.4', 'beta-4' and 'beta4' all give the type, the separator and 4.
A label that does not match RELEASE_TYPE, a label on a stable release and
a label whose tag already exists are errors. Runs without CREATE_TAG
ignore the label, as before.
Nothing changes for a version.cmake that does not print the label, which
is MuseScore's.
Step 3 of audacity/audacity#12542.

artifact_name.env named one file. A build may produce several packages,
such as the installer and the archive on Windows, so the file now holds
one name per line, and checksum.txt gets one openssl line per file.
A single name works as before.
Step 3 of audacity/audacity#12542.
Assisted-by: Claude Code 2.1.304
The same contract as checksum.sh: one file name per line in
artifact_name.env. Every file named is moved to the release directory,
with its .zsync when there is one. The checksum comparison already
handled several lines per checksum.txt.
Step 3 of audacity/audacity#12542.

…UMS_FILE
The default stays checksums.sha256.txt. Audacity has published
CHECKSUMS.txt with its releases so far and can keep the name.
Step 3 of audacity/audacity#12542.
Assisted-by: Claude Code 2.1.304
The checksum and release collation scripts now handle multiple artifact names from artifact_name.env. The tag script now supports configurable tag prefixes, label separators, application display names, and stable-release labels. It reads the version and pre-release label from version.cmake, then applies explicit-label validation or automatic numbering when selecting a release tag.

Explanation
The title "CI: release scripts take the app's tag format and several packages per build" matches the main change. The PR makes the release scripts configurable for Audacity's tag format (make_tag_name.sh) and lets checksum.sh and collate_release_binaries.sh handle several artifacts per build. The title is specific and descriptive, though it is slightly long at 76 characters and uses the less common phrasing "take the app's tag format".
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description states the purpose (making Framework release scripts usable by Audacity and MuseScore via parameters), lists the parameters added (TAG_PREFIX, TAG_LABEL_SEPARATOR, APP_DISPLAY_NAME, STABLE_RELEASE_LABEL, MUSE_APP_VERSION_LABEL-based numbering, multi-artifact checksum/collate handling, CHECKSUMS_FILE), states defaults keep MuseScore behavior, and links the related Audacity PR. The template's required parts are present: the issue reference is filled in with a step reference rather than a GitHub issue number, the CLA, title, commit, coding rules, compile/manual-test, prior-attempts, and no-unnecessary-changes checkboxes are checked, and the AI-assistance checkbox is checked with the tool named. The unit test/vtest checkbox is left unchecked, which is acceptable because it is marked as applicable only when a test was created. The Build configuration section is filled in with Audacity and MuseScore targets. Minor gaps: the Resolves line references a tracking step in audacity/audacity#12542 rather than a direct issue link, the template's line 'Each commit's message...' is checked without listing commits, and the AI tool line is present but the template asked for tools to be listed below the checklist, which it is. The description is mostly complete.

The comparison looped over the build checksums, so a package file that
had none, because its build skipped the checksum step or checksummed only
one of its files, went into the release unverified. Every file named in
artifact_name.env must now have a checksum from its build, or the
collation stops.

The validation accepts labels such as beta-2 and beta.2, but the generation step replaces the original separator with TAG_LABEL_SEPARATOR. With the default separator, beta-2 becomes beta.2. With _ configured, beta_2 is rejected before generation. Keep the validated label unchanged instead of rebuilding it from RELEASE_TYPE and the captured number.
