No additional actionable bugs found in the five-file planning diff. The direction is sound: choose the actual merge base, retain resolved JS requests without reusing old-epoch answers, and obtain Safari evidence before changing renderer error handling. These focused follow-ups do not need broader abstractions or speculative runtime fallback.
One existing non-blocking correction is confirmed: quest/m1/webgpu-safari.md:11-12 calls #5138 shipped, but that PR remains open. As already noted in the existing review, explicitly gate this work on #5138 or say “once #5138 lands”; no duplicate inline comment added.
Verification: read the full diff, base-selection/dispatch scripts, JS reset/request code and tests, Rust renewal behavior, broadcast-epoch contract, and the referenced PRs. Static GitHub review only; no tests, quest validation, or Safari sessions were run. This PR changes no runtime API or wire behavior.

Make Safari verification depend on the renderer quest
In the reviewed tree, quest/m1/webgpu-renderer.md is still an open m1 quest, and a repo-wide search finds neither the planned @moq/video package nor importExternalTexture implementation. Treating #5138 as already shipped leaves this independently listed quest impossible to execute if it is started first; record the renderer quest as a prerequisite, or add this follow-up only after that implementation lands.

Fixed in 584b769: the quest now requires WebGPU renderer and says #5138 "ships" the renderer.

Use the planned
renderer option in the Safari test
The source renderer plan defines the public attribute/option as renderer: "auto" | "webgpu" | "2d", while this test plan instructs the executor to set a nonexistent backend option. Following these steps would therefore leave the default renderer selected or fail to configure the component, so use renderer here or update the original API plan and related documentation consistently.

Keeping backend: #5138 renamed the planned renderer option to backend (Backend = "auto" | "webgpu" | "2d", a backend attribute on <moq-watch> and <moq-publish>), and this quest is now gated on that renderer quest, so it runs against the shipped name.

Preserve Rust's dynamic epoch-update behavior
When the epoch changes in place through Dynamic::update, Rust intentionally ends broadcasts served through the old epoch: rs/moq-net/src/model/origin.rs:3725-3731 documents this, and AnnounceProducer::update calls server.renew() when the epoch differs at lines 1997-2006. The cited a_newer_epoch_leaves_the_broadcast_in_flight test instead adds a second exact publish while the old publisher and route remain alive, a distinct case JS already covers in origin.test.ts:1476-1501. Implementing this quest would therefore create a parity gap rather than close one; drop or reframe it around an actual Dynamic.update reproduction. (Written by GPT-5.6 Sol)

Half agreed, fixed in d703f94. You are right that a_newer_epoch_leaves_the_broadcast_in_flight is the second-publish case, not an in-place epoch change, so the quest now reproduces through Dynamic.update and names that test only as the case already covered. I disagree that Rust ends the resolved broadcast: the Dynamic::update doc on main says so, but #5141 found that doc false (renew releases held requests and forgets the served cache; handed-out broadcasts and their subscriptions stay), corrects it, and pins it with the dynamic_epoch_* relay tests. The quest now requires that quest (#5141) so it aligns to the corrected contract.

No actionable bugs found in the two-commit delta since my previous review (17d01ec); the base is unchanged.
The Safari prerequisite correction is addressed. The JS quest now targets an in-place Dynamic.update reproduction and requires #5141, rather than treating the second-publish test as equivalent. I checked #5141's renewal changes and dynamic_epoch_* tests: the corrected Rust contract retains already-served subscriptions while new requests obtain a fresh answer, supporting the clarification in the existing discussion. The bounded gh fallback also keeps the base-selection plan practical offline.
Direction remains appropriately scoped and simple; no broader abstraction or speculative renderer fallback is needed. Static GitHub review only: no tests, quest validation, or Safari execution performed. Planning changes only, with no runtime API or wire change.
