Summary

Adds Google's Gemini 4 Argon to the google (Gemini API key) and google-antigravity providers. On Antigravity, Argon requires a User-Agent split: Cloud Code Assist (CCA) serves Argon only to the Antigravity CLI client, while other agent models need the IDE client.

Behavior

  • Before: google-antigravity/gemini-4-argon was not offered. A hand-typed gemini-4-argon-high went out with the IDE UA and got 404 Requested entity was not found.
  • After: gemini-4-argon is a picker row with low/medium/high efforts. They map to the wire ids gemini-4-argon-low, -medium, and -high; the default is medium, and xhigh/max clamp to high. Argon requests and :fetchAvailableModels discovery send antigravity/cli/1.3.4 (os_type=darwin; arch=arm64; aidev_client; auth_method=oauth). Every other Antigravity model keeps antigravity/ide/2.5.5 (...), because the CLI UA 404s gemini-3.7-flash-tiered and gemini-3.1-pro-low.

Antigravity lineup cleanup (3.8 / 4 / 5.5 / 5.5)

The static google-antigravity picker (ANTIGRAVITY_MODELS, which also seeds the registry and reconcile) is now exactly gemini-3.8-flash, gemini-4-argon, claude-opus-5-5, claude-sonnet-5-5. Each has low/medium/high efforts mapped to <id>-low/-medium/-high wire ids, with no extra thinkingLevel; the default is medium.

  • Claude 5.5 has a 1,000,000-token context window and text/image input. It uses the IDE UA; only Argon uses the CLI UA.
  • Dropped from the static list: gemini-3.7-flash, gemini-3.1-pro, gemini-3.1-flash-image, claude-sonnet-4-6, claude-opus-4-6-thinking, gpt-oss-120b-medium. They stay in a new ANTIGRAVITY_KNOWN_PICKER_MODELS set, so suffix detection, discovery collapse, and usage identity behave as before. A saved gemini-3.7-flash still resolves to gemini-3.7-flash-tiered plus thinkingLevel, and not as a suffix id. Models that live discovery still returns (Claude 4.6, gpt-oss) keep appearing through discovery.
  • This touches only model tables and headers. The protocol translators are not changed (that work is on feat/antigravity-direct-protocols).

Verified ids (2026-10-14, :fetchAvailableModels on the home-Mac Antigravity account, run with both UAs)

Wire id CLI UA discovery IDE UA discovery Inference probe
gemini-3.8-flash-{low,medium,high} listed listed medium: 200 (IDE and CLI)
gemini-3.8-flash-tiered listed (new, tieredModelIds.flash) listed not probed
gemini-4-argon-medium listed absent 404 on this account (both UAs)
gemini-4-argon-low, -high absent absent 404 on this account
claude-opus-5-5-*, claude-sonnet-5-5-* absent absent medium: 404 on this account
claude-sonnet-4-6, claude-opus-4-6-thinking listed listed sonnet: 200
gpt-oss-120b-medium listed listed not probed
gemini-3.7-flash-tiered absent absent 404
gemini-3.1-pro-low, gemini-pro-agent absent absent 404

Argon -low/-medium/-high were verified callable with the CLI UA on Jun's travel-Mac account. The Claude 5.5 -low/-medium/-high family was returned by live discovery on 2026-10-03 (devlog/_fin/261003_release_lane_c: six ids, 1,000,000 tokens each, image support). The home-Mac account in the table above can't call either model, which looks like a per-account entitlement difference.

Live verification on the home Mac (2026-10-14, Antigravity account bitk***@gmail.com)

Direct CCA (v1internal:generateContent, minimal "pong" request) and the installed ocx 2.83.0 proxy (/v1/chat/completions with reasoning_effort):

Lineup model Effort → wire id (this branch) Discovery: CLI UA / IDE UA Direct CCA: CLI UA / IDE UA ocx 2.83.0 (low / medium / high / none)
gemini-3.8-flash low/medium/high → gemini-3.8-flash-{low,medium,high}, default medium; IDE UA listed / listed 200 / 200 for all three tiers 200 / 200 / 200 / 200
gemini-4-argon low/medium/high → gemini-4-argon-{low,medium,high}, default medium; CLI UA listed / absent 200 / 404 for all three tiers 200 / 200 / 200 / 200
claude-opus-5-5 low/medium/high → claude-opus-5-5-{low,medium,high}, default medium; IDE UA absent / absent 404 / 404 404 / 404 / 404 / 404
claude-sonnet-5-5 low/medium/high → claude-sonnet-5-5-{low,medium,high}, default medium; IDE UA absent / absent 404 / 404 404 / 404 / 404 / 404
  • Bare gemini-4-argon, claude-opus-5-5, and claude-sonnet-5-5 return 404 under both UAs. Only the suffixed ids are wire ids.
  • gemini-3.8-flash-tiered answers 200 under both UAs and is now listed in tieredModelIds.flash.
  • claude-sonnet-4-6 and claude-opus-4-6-thinking are still listed. claude-sonnet-4-6 returns 200.
  • The ocx usage log does not record the wire tier, so the effort → wire mapping was checked against the wire directly (every suffixed tier answered for 3.8 Flash and Argon).

Claude 5.5 is per-account (entitlement), not a client bug. This account's fetchAvailableModels lists no Claude 5.5 rows under either UA, and every 5.5 id returns 404. Jun has confirmed 5.5 on other accounts. Public cases match exactly:

How this PR behaves per account:

  • Catalog: with liveModels: true (the Antigravity default), a successful discovery is authoritative. mergeConfiguredModelsIntoLiveCatalog drops static rows the account did not return (verified by reading the code). An account without 5.5 or Argon therefore does not list them, and an entitled account lists them with the static effort ladder. The static rows show only when discovery is unavailable (logged out or failed), as the existing degraded fallback.
  • Routing (not yet per-account): the generic OAuth failover switches accounts only on 429, and only Kiro checks per-account model support. With several Antigravity accounts, a 5.5 request can land on an unentitled account and get 404. This is proposed as a follow-up: record each account's discovered roster and prefer or require a supporting account, following the Kiro and Antigravity-Manager pattern.

Per-account model differences (Antigravity) and how this PR handles them

Google enables Antigravity models per account. The static lineup cannot describe every account, so each account's own discovery decides what it shows and where a request goes.

Account shape (observed 2026-10-14) Discovery lists Calls that work Claude mapping
Claude 4.6 account (home-Mac bitk***) gemini-3.8-flash-*, gemini-4-argon-* (CLI UA only), claude-sonnet-4-6, claude-opus-4-6-thinking, gpt-oss-120b-medium 3.8 Flash, Argon (CLI UA), Claude 4.6; every claude-*-5-5-* returns 404 4.6: one wire id, effort sent as thinkingLevel (low/medium/high; max clamps to high)
Claude 5.5 account (reported by Jun on other accounts) claude-{opus,sonnet}-5-5-{low,medium,high} instead of 4.6 Claude 5.5 5.5: effort picks the -low/-medium/-high wire id, with no thinkingLevel
Non-Ultra account no gemini-4-argon-* — —

Google gates Claude 5.5 to directly billed, non-trial Pro/Ultra plans and rolls it out gradually (antigravity docs; Google staff in antigravity-cli #1184). Other clients handle it the same way: oh-my-pi PR #14342 and Antigravity-Manager PR #3594.

  • Exposure is per account. With liveModels: true, the active account's discovery is authoritative. Static lineup rows it does not return are dropped, and the rows it does return (including Claude 4.6) are shown with their mappings. Switching the active account clears the model cache, so the catalog follows the account. Dropping static rows is no longer logged as drift for google-antigravity, because the lineup is an entitlement superset.
  • Rosters are recorded per account. src/providers/antigravity-account-roster.ts (new) stores each account's discovered roster: picker ids, wire ids, and tier wire ids. The store is in memory, keeps rosters fresh for six hours, and is scoped to the config home.
  • Account selection is per account. In src/oauth/generic-account-failover.ts, the Kiro model-listing preference now also covers Antigravity. An account that lists the model wins, a known non-listing account is skipped while another remains, and an account without a fresh roster stays usable. With oauthAccountFailover.enabled and two or more accounts, a Claude 5.5 request on a 4.6-only active account is steered to a 5.5 account before dispatch.
  • Not covered yet: a 404 on an unlisted model does not trigger reactive rotation; reactive rotation remains 429-only. Rosters are learned only for accounts that were active during a discovery.
  • Tests: new tests/adapters/google/antigravity-account-roster.test.ts. It runs end-to-end discovery for a 4.6-only roster (exposes 4.6 + 3.8, hides static 5.5/Argon) and a 5.5 roster (exposes 3.8/4/5.5/5.5, no 4.6). It also covers 4.6 and 5.5 effort mapping, roster lookups (picker, tier, alias, TTL), the account ranking, and proactive steering of a 5.5 request.

Touched locations

Area File Change
User-Agent src/adapters/client-fingerprint.ts antigravityCliUserAgent() / ANTIGRAVITY_CLI_VERSION. The GOOGLE_ANTIGRAVITY_USER_AGENT override still applies to the IDE UA only, so setting it cannot re-lock Argon.
User-Agent src/adapters/google-antigravity-wire.ts ANTIGRAVITY_CLI_REQUEST_UA and ANTIGRAVITY_DISCOVERY_UA. antigravityUserAgentForWireModel(wire) returns the CLI UA only for gemini-4-argon and its -low/-medium/-high ids (exact match).
Inference src/adapters/google.ts The CCA envelope header uses antigravityUserAgentForWireModel(wireModelId).
Web-search sidecar src/web-search/gemini-executor.ts The same per-wire selection, so an Argon sidecar model also works. The default stays gemini-3.8-flash, which keeps the IDE UA.
Discovery src/oauth/index.ts (buildModelsRequest) The CCA :fetchAvailableModels call uses the CLI UA. The quota probe in src/providers/quota/antigravity.ts also calls that RPC but is unchanged.
Antigravity catalog src/providers/antigravity-models.ts Static lineup [gemini-3.8-flash, gemini-4-argon, claude-opus-5-5, claude-sonnet-5-5]. Argon and Claude 5.5 get efforts, suffix wire maps, suffix-tier set membership, medium defaults, picker↔wire maps, context windows, and text/image input. The new ANTIGRAVITY_KNOWN_PICKER_MODELS keeps the dropped bases known to routing, discovery, and usage. defaultModel stays gemini-3.8-flash.
Gemini API preset src/providers/registry/entries-core.ts google lists gemini-4-argon (1,048,576 context, text/image input, low/medium/high efforts). defaultModel is unchanged.
Metadata scripts/model-metadata.source.json, regenerated src/generated/model-metadata.ts google/gemini-4-argon: reasoning, 1,048,576 context, 65,536 max output. No cost block, so the price overlay decides.
Pricing src/usage/expected-prices.ts $2 in / $10 out / $0.10 cached per 1M (introductory, through 2026-11-30). google rows are verified; Antigravity rows (picker id and three wire ids) are verified-derived.
Cursor src/adapters/cursor/catalog.ts, effort-map.ts Preemptive gemini-4-argon seed (low/medium/high), following the 3.8 Flash precedent. It stays inert until Cursor's live roster lists it.
Docs docs-site/src/content/docs/guides/providers.md Argon availability and the CLI/IDE User-Agent split.
Tests new tests/adapters/google/gemini-4-argon-antigravity.test.ts (registered in layout.json and test-layout-expected.json) Picker row and ladder; effort → wire id with no thinkingLevel; usage canonicalization; discovery collapse; CLI UA only for Argon ids (near misses such as gemini-4-argonaut and gemini-4-argon-max stay on the IDE UA); Argon requests carry the CLI UA; gemini-3.7-flash-tiered, gemini-3.1-pro-low, gemini-pro-agent, gemini-3.8-flash-medium, and Claude keep the IDE UA; discovery sends the CLI UA; the IDE override doesn't touch the CLI UA.
Tests google-antigravity-wire.test.ts, oauth-provider-reconcile.test.ts, provider-registry-parity.test.ts, gemini-37-flash-migration.test.ts, google-hardening.test.ts, usage-cost.test.ts Exact lists now hold the 4-model lineup (and toHaveLength(4)); 3.7 is off the static list but stays in ANTIGRAVITY_KNOWN_PICKER_MODELS; a saved 3.7 default stays operator-owned; overlay keys include Argon. The new argon test file also covers the lineup, Claude 5.5 suffix routing on the IDE UA, and unchanged routing for dropped bases.

Intentionally unchanged

  • Web-search sidecar default (gemini-3.8-flash): Argon costs more and has no free tier.
  • free-directory.ts: Argon is not on the free tier.
  • Command Code: commandcode.ai/models/gemini-4-argon returns 302, and the live fixture has no Argon.
  • Opper seeds: no evidence of Argon.
  • ANTIGRAVITY_CLAUDE_SDK_PARAGRAPH_REJECTORS: membership is probe-only, and Argon has not been probed.

Sources and evidence

Open questions for @lidge-jun

  • Should a 404 on a model the account does not list also trigger reactive account rotation? Per-account exposure and proactive preference are in this PR; reactive rotation remains 429-only.
  1. (Resolved: Argon is verified on the home-Mac account; Claude 5.5 is account-gated, see the live verification above.) Which account should the Argon and Claude 5.5 ids be verified on? On the home-Mac account, both 404 and discovery lists neither Claude 5.5 nor Argon low/high. Discovery also now lists gemini-3.8-flash-tiered. Should a follow-up retarget the retired-Flash redirect (3.5/3.6, and now 3.7) from the dead gemini-3.7-flash-tiered to gemini-3.8-flash-tiered?

  2. Does CCA reject the Claude-Agent identity paragraph for Argon, as it does for 3.7/3.8 Flash (429 RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED)? If so, gemini-4-argon belongs in ANTIGRAVITY_CLAUDE_SDK_PARAGRAPH_REJECTORS.

  3. Does discovery under the CLI UA still list every model the IDE UA listed, including gemini-3.7-flash-tiered, gemini-3.1-pro-low, gemini-pro-agent, Claude, and gpt-oss? A smaller list would hide those rows from discovered catalogs.

  4. Should Argon become the default for google or the Gemini web-search sidecar? This PR keeps both unchanged.

  5. Should the Cursor seed stay preemptive until Cursor's live roster confirms the id?

  6. Pricing rises to $4/$20/$0.20 on 2026-12-01, and the rows need updating then.

With multiple Antigravity accounts, a request for a model such as Gemini 4 Argon can go to an account that is known not to offer it. This can return 404s even when another account might serve the model. Fix the account preference before merging. The documentation corrections are minor.

P2 Badge Include Cursor's minimal Argon effort

Cursor's model-specific documentation lists four Argon effort levels—minimal, low, medium, and high—but this capability exposes only the latter three. Because cursorModelEffortLadder filters against this declaration and the matching row in effort-map.ts, Cursor users cannot select the documented minimal tier. Add minimal to both Cursor Argon ladders while keeping the direct Google preset's three-level ladder unchanged. Cursor Gemini 4 Argon documentation

P2 Badge Add an exact Cursor price overlay for Argon

The new Cursor catalog entry has no matching cursor/gemini-4-argon price row. pricingFamilyProvider("cursor") remains cursor, Cursor has no generated metadata alias, and the Argon metadata intentionally omits cost, so resolveMatchedPrice("cursor", "gemini-4-argon") falls through to null; Cursor Argon usage therefore displays no estimated cost despite Cursor publishing the same $2/$10/$0.10 rates. Add an exact Cursor overlay and a resolver assertion. Cursor Gemini 4 Argon pricing

Plan the 2026-12-01 price step.

The new rows hold the introductory rate: input 2, output 10, cacheRead 0.1. GEMINI_4_ARGON_PRICING states that the rate rises to 4/20 (0.20 cached) on 2026-12-01. The overlays have no date-bound field. After that date, the usage cost estimates for google/gemini-4-argon and the Antigravity rows will under-report by about 50%, until someone edits the file. The PR description already lists a follow-up. Track it in an issue so the date is not missed.

One option is to add a dated tier table, like CONTEXT_TIERS, and select the rate by request timestamp. Use this option only if historical usage rows must keep the old rate. A plain rate edit on 2026-12-01 would reprice past usage.jsonl entries.

Also applies to: 207-207, 354-360, 418-418

Add date-aware pricing for GEMINI_4_ARGON and the affected Google and
Antigravity pricing rows, selecting the introductory or 2026-12-01 rate by
request timestamp so historical usage retains its original estimate. Reuse the
existing CONTEXT_TIERS pattern for the dated rates and update the relevant
overlays to use it.

Adds gemini-4-argon to the google-antigravity picker with low/medium/high mapped to the verified gemini-4-argon-{low,medium,high} wire ids. CCA serves those ids only to the Antigravity CLI User-Agent, so Argon inference and model discovery use antigravity/cli/1.3.4 while every other model keeps the IDE User-Agent.

… 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5

The static google-antigravity picker now lists gemini-3.8-flash, gemini-4-argon, claude-opus-5-5 and claude-sonnet-5-5. Claude 5.5 gets the same low/medium/high suffix-tier mapping as Argon and 3.8 Flash. Dropped bases (3.7 Flash, 3.1 Pro, 3.1 Flash Image, Claude 4.6, gpt-oss) stay known to routing, discovery collapse and usage identity, so saved selections route unchanged and discovered rows still appear.
@lidge-jun lidge-jun changed the title feat: add Gemini 4 Argon (Gemini API + Antigravity via CLI User-Agent) feat: Gemini 4 Argon + Antigravity lineup 3.8 / 4 / 5.5 / 5.5 (CLI UA for Argon) Oct 13, 2026
… the trimmed lineup

Retired 3.5/3.6 Flash selections now migrate to the live gemini-3.8-flash base (registrySeedsTarget refused 3.7 once it left the lineup). Discovery-only family tests use a hypothetical claude-opus-6-1 because Claude 5.5 now has a static ladder. The static catalog count is 4.
Antigravity gates models per account (Claude 4.6 on some accounts, Claude 5.5 suffix families on others, Gemini 4 Argon on Ultra/Enterprise). Discovery now records each account roster; account selection prefers an account whose roster lists the requested model, skips a known non-listing account, and treats a missing roster as unknown. The catalog keeps exposing only the active account discovery, and the static-lineup drop is no longer warned as drift.

account's own model discovery, because Google enables models per account: some accounts list

Qualify the account-discovery claim. If OAuth has no usable token or discovery fails, src/codex/catalog/provider-models.ts returns configured static models instead of the account’s discovered models. An unavailable Argon model can therefore remain visible. State that the picker follows the account roster after successful discovery, and that fallback rows do not prove entitlement. As per path instructions, “Check that user-facing docs stay in sync with actual CLI/API behavior.”

Select an unknown-roster sibling before retaining a known-unsupported active account. If the active Antigravity roster excludes the requested model and an eligible sibling has no roster, modelEligible retains the sibling, but this check requires true support. With the default strategy and a healthy active account, the later return keeps the known-unsupported account and sends a request likely to fail with 404. After checking for a listing sibling, select an eligible unknown-roster sibling before the healthy-active return. Add this case beside tests/adapters/google/antigravity-account-roster.test.ts Lines 172-177.

Describe the static lineup as a seed, not an entitlement superset. The tested Claude 4.6 account discovers models absent from ANTIGRAVITY_MODELS. Conversely, the seed includes models unavailable to that account.

  • src/providers/antigravity-account-roster.ts#L13-L13: replace the superset claim in the roster contract.
  • src/codex/catalog/model-hints.ts#L434-L435: explain drift suppression without claiming the seed contains every discoverable model.
  • structure/providers-and-adapters.md#L588-L588: distinguish the static seed from authoritative account discovery.
