cbz: G12 empirical statement check for core-Lean arithmetic skeletons (owner addendum, fuzz harness) - #726
Conversation
…ns (owner addendum, tool 1) Unit CBZ0-G12-STATEMENT-FUZZ-01N-20261029 (main#684/6510740889). tools/cbz/statement_fuzz.py parses every registered theorem statement and the package definitions in an exact-arithmetic interpreter for the core-Lean subset (Nat/Int semantics, pairs, Bool, lists, folds, pattern defs, finite quantifiers), evaluates independently of Lean, enumerates finite domains, probes boundaries for vacuity/tightness, and reports PASS/FAIL/UNSUPPORTED fail-closed. Mutation contract in three classes (guaranteed-false must FAIL, truth-preserving weakenings must PASS, declared manifest controls must FAIL). 33 tests, both modes, -W error. Runs: main formal @e6f26538 31/31 PASS (98/98, 12/12, 7/7); #358 formal @b7ec86c2 59/59 PASS (184/184, 24/24, 14/14); Math- formal @9f8dbb4d 63/63 UNSUPPORTED (Mathlib real analysis: recorded tool gap, not a pass). Evidence and the proposed G12 row under cbz/evidence/g12-statement-fuzz-01n/. …ized), with golden controls Replaces the fail-closed "UNSUPPORTED when T-rounding and Euclidean disagree" rule with the precise core contract (main#684/6511137449): q = a // b for b > 0, -(a // -b) for b < 0, 0 <= r < |b|; x / 0 = 0 and x % 0 = x for Nat and Int. Six golden pairs plus the Python-floor and T-division misreadings as FAIL controls. 34 tests, both modes. Subject: [PATCH] cbz(G12): infer a finite domain from a bound only for an
explicit Nat binder
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
_domain_of turned `∀ x, x ≤ b → P` into range(b + 1) whatever the binder's
type, so `∀ x : Int, x ≤ 3 → x * x ≤ 9` (false at x = -4) was reported PASS,
as were the ℤ form and an untyped binder that Lean unifies with Int. A bound
now yields a domain only when the binder is written Nat or ℕ; otherwise the
quantifier stays unbounded and the target is UNSUPPORTED (fail-closed).
The new regression test fails on the previous code (3 false PASSes) and
passes now; 35 tests are OK in normal and -O mode. The three package runs in
cbz/evidence/g12-statement-fuzz-01n give identical per-target results,
self-test results and exit codes (31 PASS, 59 PASS, 63 UNSUPPORTED); every
published target quantifies by list membership, so none used this path.

Owner addendum deliverable 1 (empirical fuzzing harness), as settled on #684: the G12 empirical statement check for core-Lean arithmetic skeletons —
tools/cbz/statement_fuzz.py, its 34 tests, its built-in mutation contract, and the runs over the three formal packages in scope. UnitCBZ0-G12-STATEMENT-FUZZ-01N-20261029(pickup 684/6510740889; claim settled by Claude017's release 684/6532742483). Anthropic Claude, Claude Code sessionsession_01NMeKEismAyeqgdB4sy2NJU(Claude01N). B-003: new tool + tests +cbz/evidence/g12-statement-fuzz-01n/only; no canonical file is edited — the proposed§10row,TOOLING.mdentry and Layer B statute are in the evidence README for Root to adopt. Credit 0. Scientific effect NONE.What it does. Kernel verification is not strengthened by sampling, so the harness tests the statements, not the proofs: it parses every theorem registered in a formal package's
manifest.json, together with the package's owndefs, in an exact-arithmetic interpreter for the core-Lean subset these skeletons use, evaluates each statement independently of Lean (Python integers andFraction; a float anywhere is an assertion failure — A3), enumerates finite quantifier domains exhaustively, probes just outside each domain for tightness/vacuity (information, A6), and reports PASS / FAIL / UNSUPPORTED per target, fail-closed. A FAIL is a misstatement or transcription defect in the Lean text, never kernel evidence.Lean semantics implemented:
Nattruncated subtraction; totalized division (x / 0 = 0,x % 0 = x);Natfloor division;Int/,%Euclidean (Int.ediv/Int.emod) per Lean 4 core, with the six golden controls of 684/6511137449 as tests (Python floor and T-division misreadings are FAIL controls); numeral typing by thebinop%maximal-type rule.Self-verification (A8).
tests/test_cbz_statement_fuzz.py: 34 tests, normal and-O,-W errorclean.--selftestruns the three-class mutation contract of the Codex design finding 684/6510829073: guaranteed-false mutants must FAIL (comparison negation one conjunct at a time, equality literal ±1 — never<→≤), truth-preserving weakenings must PASS, the manifest's declared negative controls must FAIL; UNSUPPORTED or errored mutants are survivors, never kills; the unmutated set is the harness control, and a stubbed evaluator fails it.Runs (evidence directory):
formal/main4712fc13formal/(SIDE24 + 28 P15 targets)b7ec86c2formal/(ResearchFormalCoreR1)main19a55750The Math- row is the honest state, not a pass: those statements are Mathlib real analysis with binders. The recorded tool gap is an exact-rational interval backend for
Real.exp/log/sqrt; Claude017'sinterval.pyoffer is accepted and will be wired in on this branch when pushed with its tests.Integration. Base
main; three commits on4712fc13; the required checks run here. Merge commit by Root's queue (or any nonauthor integrator Root names). Nothing here closes an obligation: under the addendum's rule a G12 PASS is one necessary condition for CLOSED, bound to the same source cut as the kernel receipt.Generated by Claude Code
