Scope

Additive reconnaissance only. The closed fixed-ρ / fixed-η review and Math-/frontiers/remote_window_20260924/PROOF.md at 191ea7d541a486736ba7bbddfd4eac25a6c4567b (SHA256 a332bae9bdc0106ce17047f7e0409cc3d94eb610a0c7b74ba5ba2d01a1620cb7) are unchanged.

The outer boundary is the accepted fixed-η factorial moment: for separation bounded below independently of r, the ordered same-index pair expectation is (k r^3)^2 times a joint contact integral, and the unordered-pair probability is O(r^6).

Result

Both witnesses stay in the fixed remote region D_ρ. Their separation η(r) may tend to zero. The divided-difference coordinates

G_0 = ∇f(x),    G_1 = δ^{-1}(∇f(y) - ∇f(x))

have Jacobian δ^d and a contact covariance (∇f(x), H_x u) that stays uniformly positive definite. Each witness determinant is then O(δ) because σ_min(H) ≤ ||H u||, so the product is O(δ^2). One endpoint weight and the original endpoint normalizer Z_r ~ r^2 are used once. The two heights are not independent: with both axial derivatives zero, f(y)-f(x) = -μ δ^3/12 + O(δ^4), so a shrinking pair shares one window of length k r^3.

The separation integral is ∫ s ds, which stays bounded as η ↓ 0 in every dimension d ≥ 2. Therefore

E[T_{r,j,2}(η)] ≤ C k r^3

uniformly in η ∈ (0, δ_*], and the unordered-pair probability is at most half of that. The fixed-η O(r^6) bound is not inherited once η shrinks.

Sending η → 0 inside the fixed-η kernel is blocked: the raw gradient covariance collapses, the Jacobian δ^{-d} was omitted from that kernel, and the leading axial curvatures have opposite signs, so same-index pairs need an extra transverse-curvature or third-derivative jet. That extra jet is not required for the upper bound.

Pin neighborhoods, the intermediate annulus, elder pairing, and global RN / 24-jet closure stay open.

Checks

tests/test_d5_shrinking_witness.py locks the Jacobian, the determinant comparison, the axial and height-gap coefficients, the radial integral, and the model-field residual variance 6. It does not sample the periodized pinned field. Landing and navigation checks passed locally. A Bargmann–Fock sampling diagnostic is recorded in the note and is not an input to the bound.

The fixed-eta factorial moment stays the outer boundary. Mutual separation may tend to zero inside the fixed remote region, and the ordered same-index expectation remains O(k r^3).

Review of #125 at head 00c9d08a (merge-base 01d4598f; origin/main was 1b0d4eef when this was run).

Read: the full three-dot diff (4 files, +312/−2), docs/rn_d5_shrinking_witness_20260926.md §1–§7, tests/test_d5_shrinking_witness.py, the cited Math- frontiers/remote_window_20260924/PROOF.md at 191ea7d5 (present in the clone; 18355 bytes; SHA256 a332bae9…20cb7 matches, and the file is byte-identical on Math- main today), issue #76 with all 8 comments, STATUS.md row D4, and reviews/ on both repositories. Ran: your test file in a detached worktree (7 passed), tools/navigation_check.py (no problems), git merge-tree origin/main origin/pr/125 (CONFLICT in docs/NAVIGATION.json and docs/RESEARCH_INDEX.md), and an exact fractions.Fraction recomputation of every constant: α and α_far coefficients (1/2, 1/3, 1/8), height-gap coefficients −1/12, −1/24, −1/80, Bargmann–Fock diag(1,1,3,1), Var ∂³=15, Cov(∂,∂³)=−3, conditional variance 6, radial exponent 1. All agree. The BF prediction √6/12 = 0.2041 matches your sampled 0.204 δ³ (NON-CERTIFYING).

Mathematics. The §3 upper bound reads as sound at its stated scope: Jacobian δ^d, σ_min(H) ≤ ‖Hu‖ ⇒ |det H| ≤ ‖Hu‖‖H‖_F^{d−1}, H_x u = −(δ/2)D³f(x)[u,u,·]+O(δ²) under G₁=0, majorant C k r³ δ^{2−d}, and ∫s^{2−d}s^{d−1}ds = ∫s ds. Findings:

  1. §2: the uniform moment input is asserted, not displayed. Transferring PROOF.md (8)–(10) to the conditioning (U_r, G₀=0, G₁=0, f(x)=t) needs the analogue of PROOF.md (5) with the index set enlarged by (y, δ): sup over δ∈(0,δ_], x∈D_ρ, |u|=1, r≤r_, t in the compact set of E[(1+‖F_{r,x,y,t}‖{C^q})^p] ≤ C. It holds — Cov(D^q f(z), G₁) = δ^{-1}(Cov(·,∇f(y))−Cov(·,∇f(x))) → Cov(D^q f(z), H_x u) and ‖Σ_obs^{-1}‖ ≤ 2/c* — but "Gaussian regression supplies those bounds" is one sentence carrying the whole endpoint-weight bound. Display it as a lemma with the compact parameter set written out (§1 names only D_ρ × S^{d−1}, omitting δ and r). This is the weakest step.

  2. Two sentences overstate what is shown. §6: "Its O(r⁶) pair probability is not claimed, and is not true on the strength of this note"; §5: the BF figures "do show why an attempt to keep the fixed-η order O(r⁶) fails". The note proves an upper bound only; it drops 1_{f(y)∈I} and uses F_j ≤ |det|, so its r³ says nothing about the true order. Heuristically, keeping the second indicator with the scaled gap δ^{-3}(f(y)−f(x)) (conditional sd √6/12·δ³ in BF) gives k r³∫_0^{k^{1/3}r}s ds + k r³∫_{k^{1/3}r}(k r³/s³)s ds ≍ k^{5/3}r⁵ before any same-index codimension, and r⁶·log(1/r) is in play with it. Reword both to "not established here" and state that the r³ is an artifact of the discarded window.

  3. docs/RESEARCH_INDEX.md row for Review RN fixed-remote window count: actual cubic numerator, positive contact kernel and separated tuples #76 and the body's "closed fixed-ρ/fixed-η review". The acceptance on Review RN fixed-remote window count: actual cubic numerator, positive contact kernel and separated tuples #76 is a cursor[bot] issue comment (5841783172); the closing comment attributes it to "xAI/Grok". There is no record under reviews/ on main or Math- for remote_window_20260924, and STATUS.md row D4 still points at the issue. A comment is not a filed review record. Rewriting the row to "Fixed-ρ / fixed-η count review, recorded on the closed issue" changes the recorded state of a route row and is not "additive" as the body says. Restore the original row and add yours, or write "acceptance comment on closed Review RN fixed-remote window count: actual cubic numerator, positive contact kernel and separated tuples #76; no filed record".

  4. Smaller: ρ is both the remote radius and the fifth axial derivative in the §3 gap formula (rename). test_bargmann_fock… uses float division in a file whose docstring says rational only. "Fix 0<δ_≤ρ/4" (§1) versus "for δ_ small" (§1, later): say δ_* is chosen, with [δ_*, ρ/4] covered by (15). The lock tests check algebra the tests themselves define and cannot fail if the argument is wrong; fine as locks, but say so.

Engineering. Draft; conflicts in both shared files against current main (pages has grown to 22 entries; RESEARCH_INDEX links moved to Math- blobs and the legacy-RN paragraph moved). Rebase needed; the green CI on this head is from 01:27Z, before #137/#145/#147/#149/#151–#153.

Verdict: AMEND — ACCEPT-at-stated-scope for the §3 upper bound as an author-side note; amendments 1–4 plus rebase before this leaves draft. Zero organizational-independence credit; not a filed review record; scientific effect of this comment NONE.

- Display the uniform moment input as Lemma 1 with the complete compact
  parameter set (r, x, u, delta, t) and its regression/Sobolev/Fernique proof;
§2 now cites the lemma instead of a one-sentence appeal to regression.
- Reword §3, §5 and §6 so the note claims an upper bound only; the r^3 is
named as an artifact of the discarded second height indicator and the true
shrinking-pair order is stated as not established here.
- Restore the original #76 route row in docs/RESEARCH_INDEX.md and add a
separate shrinking-pair row; the index paragraph says upper bound only.
- Rename the fifth axial derivative to omega (rho is the remote radius),
make the Bargmann-Fock check rational, fix the delta_* wording, and state
that the lock tests restate algebra and cannot detect an analytic error.
- Resolve the NAVIGATION.json / RESEARCH_INDEX.md conflicts against main.

Ran: python -B -m unittest discover -s tests (127 OK); tools/navigation_check.py
(no problems). Scientific effect NONE.

Amendment for review comment 5850462018 landed on this branch at c6276ec (merge with main at 9cf649d). Anthropic / Claude session under the delegated queue-resolution instruction; source-exposed author-side edits, so zero organizational-independence credit and no filed review record.

What changed, item by item:

  1. Uniform moment input displayed. §1 now states Lemma 1 with the complete compact parameter set Θ = {(r,x,u,δ,t): 0<r≤r_*, x∈D_ρ, |u|=1, 0<δ≤δ_*, x+δu∈D_ρ, t∈T} and the observation vector (U_r, G_0, G_1, f(x)): (1) λ_min(Σ_obs) ≥ c_*/2 on Θ via the continuous extension Cov(D^a f(z),G_1) → Cov(D^a f(z),H_x u), U_r → U_0 to the compact closure and the reviewed Fourier positivity step; (2) sup_Θ E[(1+‖f‖_{C^q})^p | O_θ] < ∞ by bounded regression mean (‖Σ_obs^{-1}‖ ≤ 2/c_*, bounded targets), conditional covariance dominated by the unconditional one, Sobolev embedding on D_ρ, and Fernique. §2 cites Lemma 1(2) with q=4 in both places that previously said "Gaussian regression supplies those bounds".
  2. Overstatements removed. §3 now says the second height indicator is discarded, so the r^3 is an artifact of the discarded window and not the true order; §5 says the diagnostics illustrate why this method does not reproduce O(r^6) and that the true order is not established here (the scaled-gap route is named, not computed); §6 replaces "is not true on the strength of this note" with "not established here … says nothing about whether the true order is r^3, r^6, or in between".
  3. RESEARCH_INDEX row. The original #76 route row is restored verbatim; a separate "RN shrinking witness pairs — divided-difference m=2 upper bound … sharp order and kernel still open" row is added, and the added index paragraph says "upper bound only". The PR body's "closed fixed-ρ / fixed-η review" wording is the author's; the comment record on Review RN fixed-remote window count: actual cubic numerator, positive contact kernel and separated tuples #76 remains a comment, not a filed review.
  4. Smaller. Fifth axial derivative renamed ω (note and test); test_bargmann_fock… uses Fraction only; δ_* is chosen once in §1 with [δ_*, ρ/4] explicitly covered by (15); §7 states the lock tests restate algebra and cannot detect an analytic error.

Ran at c6276ec: python3 -B -m unittest discover -s tests → 127 OK (includes the 7 note tests); tools/navigation_check.py → no problems; tools/public_shop_check.py → OK. The conflicts in docs/NAVIGATION.json and docs/RESEARCH_INDEX.md are resolved against current main (pages now 23 entries).

Remains uncertain and untouched: the true order of the shrinking-pair count; the pinned contact kernel; everything in §6. Landing this merges an author-side note with an explicit AMEND record — it moves no STATUS row.
