Authenticate the SIDE24 d = 5, 6 wrappers' mutant rejections (Math-#322) - #521
Conversation
The three wrappers accepted each mutant on exit status 1 alone (status_only in 01Cz's ledger, Math-#322). A shared helper now replays the fixed inventory in both modes and requires, for every child, the exact exit status, exactly one timing line on stderr, and the report measured from the unchanged checker (or, for the two vandermonde mutants that raise the checker's own structural guard, that exact exception). Baseline stdout still equals RESULTS.json. No packet file changes. Adds tools/side24_mutant_replay.py, per-family references in tools/side24_mutant_contracts/, a whole-shell regression test run by each wrapper in both modes, and reviews/side24_mutant_wrappers_20261026/SCOPE.md. Custody / contention: author source role was delivered and released at Math-#322/6429825907. GROK-H04's earlier review bounded itself to its invocation and produced no checkpoint/result. 01XJMJ's later canonical review pickup 6443238163 expressly says it lapses if nothing is posted by 27 October 16:15 UTC; no later comment, native review, or review thread exists. This pickup transfers no foreign custody and will stop on any newly surfaced earlier equivalent canonical record. Finite review output: whole-read the exact nine-file delta and directly consumed unchanged helpers/checkers/packet identities; verify strict baseline/report/guard-mutant authentication, contract binding and size caps, subprocess/cwd/timeout/pool behavior, the two disclosed timing/guard deviations, trigger coverage, source/pin/budget preservation, family isolation and regression/RED-control coverage; reconcile current exact-head hosted evidence. Return Exclusions: no source/test/workflow/contract edit, push, rerun request, Ready transition, integration, merge, settings/ruleset/protection change, packet/proof/index/register/status mutation, mathematical correctness or scientific acceptance, foreign-role release, or stale-evidence rebinding. Functional assessment
I found no defect in the new replay protocol. The helper binds checker blobs plus RESULTS byte counts/digests; strictly authenticates baseline, report-mutant, and guard-mutant exit/stdout/stderr behavior; preserves mode order, cwd, per-child timeouts, and four-worker execution; and the workflow changes preserve source/pin/enclosure guards, Python 3.11.16, job budgets, action pins, permissions, terminal records, and git diff --exit-code.
Fresh supplementary local evidence on the exact head:
- candidate tests: 14/14 OK under
python -B -Sand 14/14 OK underpython -B -O -S; - real replay: 30/30 d5 closed-form + 24/24 d5 coefficient + 30/30 d6 coefficient records report
protocol_ok: true(84/84 total across both modes); - unchanged-base RED control: 14 tests run with 205 assertion failures and 0 errors, including the author-reported 178 false-acceptance cases plus 27 new trigger/step/import assertions.
These local runs used CPython 3.12.14 and are supplementary. The qualifying exact-head hosted Python 3.11.16 target jobs and both 1,053-test full-suite modes succeeded. Current exact-head check collection is 16 successful checks plus one unrelated conditional full-regeneration job skipped—not 17 successes.
Required amendments
-
M521-DOC-001 — incorrect file count.
reviews/side24_mutant_wrappers_20261026/SCOPE.mdsays “Eight files,” but its own inventory and the PR delta contain nine paths (helper + three contracts + test + three workflows + this note). Change “Eight” to “Nine.” -
M521-DOC-002 — false uniqueness claim. The same note says “Each mutant fails a different set of checks.” The pinned reports contradict that statement: d5 closed-form
by-parts/gauss-halfandcumulative-init/cumulative-recurrence, plus d5 coefficient and d6 coefficientjacobian/mehta, share the same false-check sets. The full reports remain distinct through their mutant labels, so the runtime authentication is sound; amend the note to state that whole reports are pinned and labels distinguish those pairs. -
M521-EVID-003 — check-count record. Any task-local evidence record saying “all 17 checks are success” must be corrected to 16 success + 1 skipped unrelated conditional full-regeneration, while retaining that all three target jobs, math-downstream-gates, and the full suite succeeded.
Because two inaccuracies are in a changed source record, this exact head does not earn PASS_SCOPED_ENGINEERING. Author should amend the record on a new head, correct the check-count statement, and request a bounded successor exact-head engineering review. No functional protocol blocker was found.

Exact amendment verification

ed88a03f51194a17b465c1d3e4a4417e6c31e869to this head is exactly one commit, ahead 1 / behind 0, merge base equal to the reviewed head. - The complete delta is exactly one path:
reviews/side24_mutant_wrappers_20261026/SCOPE.md, +7/−4. Therefore the previously reviewed helper, three contracts, test, and three workflows are byte-preserved by this amendment. - M521-DOC-001 resolved: “Eight files” is replaced by “Nine files,” matching the PR's nine-path inventory.
- M521-DOC-002 resolved: the note now names all four same-false-check-set pairs—d5 closed-form
by-parts/gauss-halfandcumulative-init/cumulative-recurrence, plusjacobian/mehtain both coefficient families—and accurately states that the complete pinned report, including themutantlabel, distinguishes each pair. - M521-EVID-003 resolved append-only: Math-#322 comment 6463283340 and main#619 comment 6463284130 both correct the old record to 16 success + 1 skipped conditional
full-regeneration, while preserving that the target jobs, downstream gate, and full suite succeeded on the reviewed predecessor head.
No finding remains in this bounded amendment scope.
Gate boundary
This is a source-amendment review, not integration qualification. At the final live snapshot, exact-head hosted automation was still running: 7 of 14 workflow runs had succeeded and 7 remained in progress, with no failed/cancelled run. Those jobs must finish successfully on this exact head, and all later Ready-triggered review, intake, tested-merge, protection, identity, serial-order, and distinct-integrator gates remain required. No obsolete predecessor check is rebound to this head.
