Authenticate the C8 check-mode verdicts of the planar cap-failure wrapper - #520
Conversation
…pper The c8-cap-failure-coefficient-planar workflow accepted its baseline --check --procs 2 on exit status 0 alone and each mutant --check --procs 1 --mutant M on exit status 1 alone, so an unrelated crash, a silent exit or a failure for another reason counted as an intended rejection. It now calls tools/check_mode_replay.py, which gains this family: one inventory row, its measured verdicts, and a POOLED row that keeps the wrapper's schedule. Both baselines run first, one at a time, then the six mutants two at a time, with every verdict read in submission order. Each child must give the exact exit status, empty stderr and the complete verdict measured from the unchanged checker. The batch-1 families keep their sequential path. The workflow gains the same contract step and trigger paths as the batch-1 wrappers. Packet files are unchanged. Dependencies / prior evidence: batch 1 helper behavior landed through Math-#519; this batch adds the planar inventory, pooled schedule and exact verdict contract while declaring packet bytes unchanged. Author-side local evidence reports real replay 8/8, 13 tests in both modes, and a 42-false-acceptance RED control; hosted evidence is still pending and will be read only at its actual exact head. Fresh task comments, native reviews, threads and board suffix show no competing #520 review pickup. Finite review output: read the complete exact-head five-file delta and all directly consumed unchanged helpers/packet identities; verify argument/schedule preservation, pool failure behavior, strict exit/stderr/JSON/verdict binding, family isolation, source/RESULTS custody, workflow triggers/pins/permissions/order/timeouts and regression/RED-control coverage; reconcile actual exact-head hosted runs when available. Return PASS / AMEND / BLOCK with precise findings and limits, then only-own release. Exclusions: no source/ref edit, rerun, Ready, merge or integration; no workflow/ruleset/settings/protection mutation or bypass; no packet/proof/mathematical/scientific review, acceptance or status change; no batch 3–5 custody or foreign-role release. GitHub refused the attempted APPROVE event because this source and review share the repository owner account (Review Can not approve your own pull request). This COMMENT review records the substantive nonauthor engineering verdict without representing a platform approval or bypass.
I completed the requested read of all five changed paths plus the directly consumed unchanged checker, RESULTS, packet manifest/map, strict JSON helper, and trigger helper. Findings: none.
Verified from source:
- source/pin guards remain before any child; action pins, read-only permissions, disabled credential persistence, Python 3.11.16, 75-minute job budget, per-child 2400 s timeout, terminal scientific-effect record, and final clean-tree check are preserved;
- packet membership and every packet blob are unchanged from base; checker blob

--check --procs 2, mutants--check --procs 1 --mutant LABEL; both baselines are sequential first, then six mutants in original mode/label submission order with max concurrency 2; - each child requires intended 0/1 exit, empty stderr, and complete type-exact structural JSON equality through the unchanged strict parser; crash/silent/wrong-reason/wrong-label/wrong-value and malformed-contract cases fail closed;
- batch-1 contract entries remain equivalent, their sequential path is preserved, and regressions cover pooled scheduling, exact arguments, source-guard precedence, formatting-only acceptance, protocol faults, custody, ordering, and triggers.

Dylan Roy — delegated AI review. Actual performer: OpenAI/Codex Downstream Closure Loop /root, separate nonauthor/nonintegrator; shared principal/source-exposed, organizational/human independence credit 0, scientific effect NONE. This is a fresh engineering composition assessment carrying the exact unchanged scope of GitHub Task Pickup review 5658555790, not a rerun of its proof/source argument or a platform approval.
Exact composition. Current default 4a0d51bbd06f0d9ac731a1d1df38f25999797135; reviewed predecessor 6fbdbba3a12dff01dd8ceb32133b3c682638ef65; native PR-reported base still 7d63d08f6cfadfd9c2ef28039a370d741126f9a0. Refresh ordered parents are [current default, reviewed predecessor], tree f24001cda3ba9f67ebd00affab3fa979d292824c. The current-default→head comparison is ahead 2/behind 0 and exactly five files. Every path/status/blob equals the old-base→reviewed-predecessor five-file comparison:
.github/workflows/c8-cap-failure-coefficient-planar.yml→1e82c3d9d6a2e51cd1ccd1237c6cdea93b1c714ereviews/c8_check_mode_wrappers_batch2_20261026/SCOPE.md→e97a42cbfc6ec8ba8cac970cdd4d9c346dd72a43tests/test_check_mode_workflows.py→ee3cd5c27531ac7b5e0f9a9ab90534e1341e69d6tools/check_mode_contracts.json→04c769a077906be41aa0fdf50c2778bfde628e38tools/check_mode_replay.py→0b0ccf13e7ab479a8208508a4f0c73b37c1ea663
The complete predecessor→head delta is exactly the nine #521 SIDE24 paths, with identical statuses/blobs to old-base→current-default. There is zero overlap with these five paths, the planar packet/manifest/map/checker/RESULTS, four current-required source pins, strict JSON helper or legacy trigger helper. Thus those consumed bytes and hypotheses are unchanged. The inherited #521 helper is separate; the existing legacy helper it imports was not altered. Native PR-files currently displays 14 paths against its old reported base; the nine extra paths are exactly inherited #521 content, not an extra #520 implementation.
Fresh hosted composition evidence binds actual checkout a72592b8941d147a9c9d083b4d3a981885df97b4, parents [current default, current head], tree f24001cda3ba9f67ebd00affab3fa979d292824c:

- Full-suite job 122715501641: 1,053 tests OK in each mode and exact TESTED_SHA stability. Both check-mode and inherited SIDE24 controls pass. The emitted protocol-false records inside timeout negative-control tests are expected refusals, not failures of this successful suite.
- Formal job 122715502582, run attempt 1: successful current tested-commit receipt
dda66f79db1e88f6b90f2efa2dfeb0d5c8b9a55e8c7dbf0671832faea68816ba; required aggregate succeeds. - Current check collection: 17 success + one unrelated conditional full-regeneration skip (18 checks total). No local project execution or hosted rerun performed by this reviewer.
Boundary. No composition finding identified. Source/review lineage and the prior review's engineering-only qualification survive this base refresh; this earns no scientific or organizational independence. Current configured Codex review summary 6443126495 is still RUNNING on this head, findings UNKNOWN. Its old quota-failed history remains a failed historical result, not PASS. This assessment does not replace that pending service review, protections, serial-order reconciliation or the distinct integrator's final gates. Observed post-merge formal execution passed 244 auditor tests per mode plus the dedicated build/kernel/axiom/negative-control gate and receipt binding. The downstream log reports 71 distinct immutable-replay tests and 24 semantic mutations, plus 94 focused current P_C tests per mode, with unchanged sources. These results remain scoped to the checks actually executed.
Separately, pre-merge full regression at tested merge 1a81f1b had the same file tree and passed 1,066 tests in each interpreter mode on CPython 3.11.16, with zero unittest skips. That is attributed same-tree evidence, not a claim that a new post-merge whole-federation final pass ran. No scientific acceptance or CBZ-0 declaration follows.
Historical candidate evidence below remains source-scoped.
This makes the C8 planar cap-failure wrapper check why each checker child exits, not just whether it exits. Before,
c8-cap-failure-coefficient-planaraccepted the baseline--check --procs 2on exit 0 alone, and each mutant--check --procs 1 --mutant Mon exit 1 alone, with the mutants' stdout and stderr discarded. So an unrelated crash, a silent exit 1 or a failure for another reason counted as a rejection. It now requires the exact verdict measured from the unchanged checker, as batch 1 (#519) did for two other wrappers. Packet bytes are unchanged.
