Authenticate the C8 check-mode verdicts of the planar Theorem A and torus wrappers - #544
Conversation
…orus wrappers c8-theorem-a-constants-planar and c8-torus-vanishing-remainder accepted every mutant on exit status 1 alone and their baselines on exit status 0 alone, with the mutants' output discarded. Each now calls the shared check-mode helper with its own child list. The helper requires the exact verdict measured from the unchanged checkers: the theorem-A JSON verdicts, and for torus its success line and its one-line SystemExit rejection on stderr, byte for byte, in the matrix job's interpreter mode. The reference file also binds the three packet files the torus checker loads. Packet bytes are unchanged. Scientific effect NONE. MATH TASK WATCH EXACT-HEAD ENGINEERING REVIEW PICKUP — Actual performer: OpenAI/Codex Math Task Watch Finite scope: one nonauthor/nonintegrator exact-head COMMENT engineering review of the six changed paths:
Outcome: verify exact child scheduling and verdict/stream/exit authentication for both new families; source/pin/manifest custody and rebound-source refusal; preservation of the three existing families; normal/optimized adverse tests; real-checker and current hosted observations; exact base/head/synthetic identities; then publish one COMMENT review or precise blocker and release only this review claim. Dependencies: current PR body and author pickup/history on Math #322; unchanged packet bytes and scientific-effect boundary; current Math/Main governance; actual current-head workflow results. Exclusions: no author/repair/integrator/canonical/Ready/protection/merge/workflow-dispatch/proof/theorem/bound/scientific-status/CBZ-0/scheduler action; no organizational/scientific independence claim. Stop on head/path movement, competing pickup, incomplete source identity, or a scoped defect requiring author repair. REVIEW_COMPLETE — NO SCOPED CODE FINDING; HOLD FOR CURRENT EXACT-HEAD EXECUTION
Exact candidate reviewed: base 9f8dbb4d18b9f3ebd9ffac6b0caa42df9f343966, head ad25eff374978346bfc2cc21d0e7c478ef9ea71c, synthetic merge 658c6d5e48b6278a6b27325142114991db40ad2f. The actual mergebase is the stated base; the delta is one commit and exactly the six claimed paths.
Engineering inspection result: no scoped defect found.
- The two new
_plan()schedules reproduce the prior wrapper arguments, mode split, ordering, per-child timeouts, and concurrency. The refactor preserves the three pre-existing families' child arguments/order/timeouts. - Baseline and mutant acceptance now requires the characterized return code plus the exact channel contract: strict structural JSON with empty stderr for theorem-A; exact stderr bytes, empty stdout, and exit 1 for the torus mutants.
- The helper binds each checker,
RESULTS.json, and all three additional torus-loaded Python sources. Rebound checker/loaded-source tests fail before any child starts; the workflows retain their manifest and upstream-pin guards before replay. - The focused synthetic contract suite runs in both normal and optimized interpreter modes and covers crashes, silent exits, wrong exit/reason/label/value, malformed/duplicate/nonfinite/trailing JSON, stderr-channel faults, triggers, and source rebound.
- Hosted torus run 40971942032 completed successfully at the exact synthetic merge on pinned CPython 3.11.16. Jobs
123790554004and123790554295each passed 15 tests in both test modes; both real baselines and all ten mutant observations recordedprotocol_ok: truewith the expected stream and exit identities.
Current finite hold, not a defect: the real planar replay 40971942026 has passed its focused two-mode contract-test step but its long real-checker step is still in progress. The current full-suite run 40971941968 is also in progress. Do not treat this COMMENT as an integration clearance until both exact-head runs are terminal-success and the head/path set is unchanged.
Boundary: engineering review only. This does not establish mathematical correctness, theorem/bound acceptance, scientific independence, lemma_closed, Ready, merge, or integration custody.

TERMINAL HOSTED-EVIDENCE CLOSEOUT / ONLY-OWN RELEASE — The candidate remained unchanged at Math- #544 base/head/synthetic merge Observed exact hosted result:
Scoped conclusion: the formerly outstanding full-suite execution hold recorded at #issuecomment-6511205839 is cleared for this unchanged candidate. Together with the already recorded terminal-success planar and torus real-checker runs, all currently cited execution gates are terminal-success at this exact head. This is evidence observation only: it does not supply author, engineering-review, mathematical/formal-proof, scientific, organizational, blind-independence, integrator, Ready, canonical, or merge credit; scientific effect NONE; PR remains draft and no status was changed. Released now: only this finite hosted-evidence observer claim. No source/ref/PR/workflow/protection/rerun/dispatch/review/integration/merge/status mutation was performed. |

CBZ0-MATH544-INTEGRATION-01A0BBB5-20261029 — finite integration pickup and decision Actual executor: OpenAI/Codex subagent /root/math544_integration, delegated by chat 01a0bbb5-2fcb-77f0-b78b-4d220ddd7ab2 for Dylan Roy. Source-exposed engineering integration; no human, mathematical, or blind-review credit. Authority: the latest direct owner master preserved verbatim at main#686/6511339492 supersedes older procedural no-merge/approval/role locks. Current Math AGENTS.md and canonical main#684/#695 remain the routing context. This is a bounded integration, not a competing canonical writer. I take only the Ready/expected-head merge and landing verification of Math #544. Current observed base/head/synthetic merge: 9f8dbb4 / ad25eff / 658c6d5. The tested synthetic tree is 0e28d1077fffb77e66ff635a112899ccb091b3ba. Exact six paths, one commit, ahead 1/behind 0; files page 2 empty; no inline review threads. Author delivered/released the implementation stage at Math #322/6510775765. Review 5706387475 found no scoped code defect; the planar and full-suite execution holds were subsequently closed at #544/6511205839 and #544/6511336309. No current equivalent integrator pickup was found in the task-local and bounded live #684/#619 records. Fresh native API readback confirms all 20 executed current-head check runs SUCCESS. The one additional full-regeneration job is correctly SKIPPED because c8-normalizer-floor-planar.yml declares it workflow_dispatch-only; the actual PR replay job passed. Planar run40971942026, torus run40971942032, and full-suite run40971941968 all completed SUCCESS, attempt 1, with the exact head/base join above. The full-suite record observes 1,082 tests in each interpreter mode on CPython 3.11.16, with exact-commit and clean-tree guards. Decision: update stale PR metadata with a current evidence addendum while preserving historical author text, mark Ready, merge using the exact expected head if a final fresh source/check reread still matches, and verify actual landing commit/tree/parents plus any applicable push CI. Preserve all packet bytes, scientific-effect NONE, theorem/axiom/bound state, prior failures and source identities. No proof CLOSED promotion or CBZ-0 claim, no ref pruning. New conflicts or substantive failure will be handled at source and logged; no unchecked merge. |

CBZ0-MATH544-INTEGRATION-01A0BBB5-20261029 — actual landing receipt (push qualification still running) Math #544 merged at 2026-10-30T00:00:53Z as 19a5575. Native readback confirms parents 9f8dbb4 + ad25eff, and tree 0e28d1077fffb77e66ff635a112899ccb091b3ba exactly equals the already tested synthetic merge658c6d5e48b6278a6b27325142114991db40ad2f. All six final path/blob identities match the reviewed candidate; packet bytes are unchanged. PR is merged/closed. Exact-head merge was guarded after a fresh current Main/head/check reread. The PR body now adds the exact completed review and hosted evidence above the retained historical author snapshot. Existing full-suite execution remains bound to its actual synthetic commit/tree:1082 normal +1082 optimized tests on pinned CPython3.11.16. I have not represented it as a new push run. The full-suite workflow is pull_request/workflow_dispatch-only, so this unchanged tree does not require another manual36-minute suite to supply the same evidence. Actual merge PUSH observations: math-hypergraph run40976936967/job123807174710 is SUCCESS; downstream run40976937217 is still executing replay123807175839 and formal123807176034. Those pending jobs are not called green. The final exact-push result will follow. CBZ0-MATH544-INTEGRATION-01A0BBB5-20261029 — VERIFIED INTEGRATION COMPLETE / ONLY-OWN RELEASE Math #544 is merged as 19a5575 (2026-10-30T00:00:53Z). Native landing verification confirms exactly the intended parents9f8dbb4d18b9f3ebd9ffac6b0caa42df9f343966 + ad25eff and tree0e28d1077fffb77e66ff635a112899ccb091b3ba. That is the identical tree exercised by tested synthetic merge658c6d5e48b6278a6b27325142114991db40ad2f. All six final path/blob identities match the reviewed delta; there are no packet/proof-byte changes. Fresh actual-merge PUSH qualification is now terminal-success, separately from the earlier PR evidence:
The earlier exact-head review5706387475, planar run40971942026, torus run40971942032 and full-suite run40971941968 retain their actual source/run identities. The full suite executed1082 normal +1082 optimized tests on pinned CPython3.11.16 against the identical tested tree. No skipped job is represented as execution; dispatch-only full-regeneration remained correctly skipped for the PR event. Delivery: PR metadata now distinguishes completed evidence from the preserved author snapshot. Local append-only DECISIONS.jsonl, bounded NATIVE-EVIDENCE.json, exact decoded formal push log and FINAL-VERIFIED-CHECKPOINT.json are retained in work/cbz-math544-integration-20261030-01a0bbb5. The two local evidence-collection errors are retained in the ledger and did not alter source/tests or become green claims. Actual integrator: OpenAI/Codex /root/math544_integration, delegated by chat01a0bbb5-2fcb-77f0-b78b-4d220ddd7ab2 for Dylan Roy, with source exposure. Original implementation and reviews retain their real authors. No human-review claim, mathematical CLOSED promotion, scientific effect, CBZ-0 claim or ref pruning. Only this finite integration scope is released. Next useful work is current-source composition of other reviewed Math candidates and canonical consolidation of their source-bound dispositions. In particular, #541 currently reports38 total changed paths (the latest repair review covers8); those paths are disjoint from this six-path landing, but old base9f8dbb4d/syntheticce6ccf4e evidence must not be rebound to actual Main19a55750 without composition verification. I made no #541 mutation. |

Its pending/review/Draft statements are superseded by the exact update above; its local runs remain author-reported history, not executions performed by this integrator.
This makes the C8 planar Theorem A constants wrapper and the torus vanishing-remainder wrapper check why each checker child exits, not just whether it exits. Before, both accepted their baselines on exit status 0 alone and each mutant on exit status 1 alone, with the mutants' output thrown away (
c8-theorem-a-constants-planar) or never captured (c8-torus-vanishing-remainder). So an unrelated crash, a silent exit 1 or a failure for another reason counted as a rejection. Each now requires the exact verdict measured from its unchanged checker, as batches 1 (#519) and 2 (#520) do for three other wrappers. Packet bytes are unchanged. Characterization (28 October, on
main4a0d51bb; both packet trees and workflow blobs are identical at9f8dbb4d): two separate runs of the unchanged checkers, 18 children each. All stdout and stderr byte strings are identical across the runs, the torus verdicts are identical across the two modes, and the exit statuses are as above. A first, interrupted pass on 27 October (on1965142e, the same packet trees) measured the same verdicts: its contract is byte-identical to this one (5,677 B, SHA-256be7415ca…).This test file (29 October, this tree, CPython 3.11.17): 15 tests OK in both modes, for each new family alone, as its workflow step runs it (about 8 s per mode for theorem-A and 11 s for torus), and for all five families (about 60 s per mode).
RED control: the same tests, with
CHECK_MODE_SOURCE_ROOTset to this branch's base9f8dbb4d, whose two wrappers are unchanged. False acceptances, the same in each mode and the same as on 27 and 28 October against the earlier bases:The wrong exit statuses were already rejected there. For torus, whose mutants run at once, those four subtests fail there only on the new requirement that the error name the faulty child. The trigger, step and import tests fail there too (nine subtests per family), as expected. The inventory test passes there, because the old wrappers ran the same schedule.
The real checkers through the helper, run as the workflow steps run them (torus once per matrix mode), on this tree: torus 12/12 children
