Summary

The Manager could only talk to the OpenCode server it spawns. This links other machines' opencode serve instances (OpenCode 2.0.x) so their sessions can be driven from the same UI. The local server keeps the reserved id local, and everything that does not name a server still means local, so existing routes, query keys, events and tables are unchanged.

Server registry (db/opencode-servers.ts, services/opencode-server-registry.ts, routes/opencode-servers.ts)

  • New opencode_servers table (migration 202610181200-opencode-servers). Passwords are AES-GCM encrypted in app_secrets and never returned; responses carry hasPassword.
  • /api/opencode-servers: list, create, get, update, delete, POST /test (draft), POST /:id/test, GET /status. Tests call GET /api/info and report whether the version is supported.
  • getClient(serverId) returns the local client or a cached remote client. Remote clients never send the local workspace as a default directory.

Proxy (routes/opencode-server-proxy.ts)

  • /api/opencode/servers/:serverId/* is cookie-authenticated, streams request and response bodies, and adds Basic auth server-side. Only /api/* paths are forwarded, encoded traversal is rejected, cookies are stripped, and redirects are not followed.

Events (services/remote-server-events.ts, services/sse-aggregator.ts)

  • One /api/event stream per enabled remote server, with backoff and reconnect on registry changes.
  • Remote subscriptions use the key srv_<id>|<directory>. Remote envelopes add serverId; local envelopes are byte-identical.
  • Pending permissions and forms replay through the remote client. Remote events never reach the aggregator's event listeners, active-session tracking or notifications.

Frontend

  • OpenCodeServerContext selects a per-server SDK client. Every OpenCode API function takes an optional trailing serverId. Remote query keys append the server id last, so prefix invalidations still match.
  • Event consumers filter by server and directory. Permission and form replies go back to the server that asked, and remote permissions navigate to /servers/:serverId/sessions/:sessionId.
  • /servers/:serverId lists the server's projects (GET /api/project) and their sessions, and starts sessions in a project or an arbitrary remote path.
  • SessionDetail remote mode takes the directory from the session and skips repo lookups. It does not render source control, terminals, files, preview, actions, goals, pins, sandbox, permission modes or walkthroughs. Manager-only built-in commands and drawer items are hidden on remote routes.
  • Desktop sidebar gains a Servers group with a connection dot.

Settings → Servers and QR pairing

  • Add, edit, enable, test and delete servers. A non-HTTPS URL on a non-private host shows a warning.
  • Add accepts a camera QR scan (jsqr), a pasted ocm://link URL, or manual URL, username and password. Scanning only prefills the form; the user still saves.
  • On save the backend redeems the one-time code and stores the returned credential. The browser never sees it.

ocm-cli

  • ocm link runs next to a remote opencode serve. It checks the server, prints a QR (uqr) and the link, and serves a single-use POST /redeem: constant-time compare, 5 minute TTL, closes after 3 wrong codes.

Known gaps (not in this PR)

  • No end-to-end run against a real remote opencode serve yet.
  • The mobile repo switcher has no Servers group.
  • App preferences (useSettings) still load on remote pages.
  • The pairing listener and remote servers use plain HTTP unless fronted by TLS; use HTTPS or a private network.
  • Remote terminals, schedules, goals, multi-runs, permission auto-modes and push notifications for remote sessions are follow-ups, as is linking other Managers.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Link and manage remote OpenCode servers, test connections, and pair servers using credentials, a pairing link, or QR code.
    • Browse remote projects and sessions, start sessions in project or custom directories, and navigate linked servers from the sidebar.
    • Use core session workflows—including prompts, permissions, forms, MCP, and skills—with server-specific connection status.
  • Improvements
    • Remote-session views show server names and focus on tools and actions available for those sessions.
    • Session updates, activity, and event notifications stay scoped to the selected server.

📝 Walkthrough

This pull request adds linked OpenCode server pairing and management. The backend stores encrypted credentials, exposes authenticated management and proxy routes, and relays remote events. The frontend adds server-scoped APIs, state, routes, session views, and settings. The CLI adds a pairing command and QR output.

Protect the pairing response and the remote transport.

startPairingServer always returns an http://.../redeem URL. The Manager sends the pairing code to that URL, and the listener returns the OpenCode credentials. The ocm://link wrapper does not encrypt this HTTP exchange.

This is a distinct exposure when baseUrl uses HTTPS. For the default HTTP configuration, pairing encryption alone is insufficient because the proxy and event hub send the same Basic authorization over connection.baseUrl. Use HTTPS for both transports, or keep the proposed HMAC/AES-GCM pairing protection and require HTTPS or a private network for remote traffic.

  • Keep code out of the network.
  • Send a nonce and HMAC(code, nonce).
  • Return the credentials encrypted with AES-256-GCM using an HKDF-derived key.
  • Decrypt and validate the payload in redeemPairing.

Replace the plaintext pairing exchange with a nonce and HMAC proof plus
AES-256-GCM encrypted credentials, bumping links to v2. Track session
ownership per linked server so activity, session picker, transcript, MCP
and skills views work against remote servers. Share encrypted secret
access, event routing and URL helpers across backend, shared and CLI.
Keep the schedule reports list added on main and the remote-route gating
for activity, repos, and assistant entries added on this branch.

frontend/src/contexts/EventContext.tsx:925-926
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

A vcs.branch.updated event from a linked server can overwrite a local repo's branch.

handleSSEMessage now receives events from remote project directories, because remoteProjectDirectoriesKey subscribes to them. The vcs.branch.updated case still matches reposRef.current by plain directory. Consider a linked machine that has the same path as a local repo, for example /home/me/app. A branch change on that machine rewrites the local repo's currentBranch in the ['repo', id] and ['repos'] caches, and it invalidates the local repo's git caches.

Ignore the event when it comes from a linked server.

Reject a server address change to a new origin unless a password or
pairing is supplied, so the stored password is never sent to another
host. Test connection now checks the edited values and warns when an
origin change needs credentials. Replay and reconcile remote session
statuses on stream reconnect and browser resync so linked-server
sessions no longer stay busy. Treat malformed server session URLs as
not found instead of throwing.

Test same-origin URL edits with the stored password.

When an edited saved server changes only its path, the Test action sends the draft request without a password. The backend then omits Authorization, while Save preserves the encrypted password. A password-protected server can therefore report a false connection failure.

Allow the draft test request to include the saved server ID. Resolve the stored password on the backend only after confirming that the draft URL has the same origin.

Render the session picker's Active tab under the local server scope so
local rows deleted from a linked-server route no longer go to the
linked server.
Test always checks the draft URL. When the password is left blank, the stored password is reused only if the draft URL has the same origin as the saved server.
