Stop ringing when a dose is marked on Today; warn when full-screen alarms are off - #31
1. Marking a ringing dose on Today didn't stop the sound _setStatus calls cancelDose → AlarmScheduler.cancel → AlarmService.cancelFallback, which only cleared the fallback notification. When the alarm service itself was ringing for that dose, it kept ringing. It now sends ACTION_STOP for just that dose id (other doses ringing at the same time keep ringing).
2. No warning when full-screen alarms are off (Android 14+) USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT is a revocable special access on Android 14+. When it's off, the alarm rings but never takes over the lockscreen, the same silent failure as notifications being off. Today now shows a warning card, and its Fix button opens the right settings page. Below Android 14 it always counts as on.
Not changed: the hunt also flagged that a timezone change doesn't re-arm alarms until the app is opened. A dose then rings at the same absolute moment (e.g. 08:00 London for a 09:00 Warsaw dose) until the next app open re-syncs. For medication that's arguably right, so I left it as a design call.
Checks: flutter analyze clean, TZ=Europe/Warsaw flutter test 39 passed, flutter build apk --debug OK. Not tried on the phone yet.
Android users can check whether full-screen alarm access is enabled and open the relevant system settings.
A warning appears when notifications are enabled but alarms cannot take over the lock screen. Its Fix action opens settings and refreshes the status afterward.
Bug Fixes
Canceling a dose now also stops its alarm if it is already ringing.
…arms are off
- Marking a ringing dose taken/skipped from Today disarmed it but the alarm
service kept ringing. cancelFallback now also sends ACTION_STOP for that dose.
- Android 14+ can switch off full-screen intents (special access). Then the
alarm rings but never takes over the lockscreen. Today now shows a warning
card with a Fix button, like the notifications one.

Walkthrough
The change adds Android full-screen-intent access checks and settings navigation, with a warning in TodayPage when access is unavailable. It also updates cancelFallback to stop a dose that is currently ringing in memory.
When the dose ID is in the ringing map, cancelFallback sends ACTION_STOP with that dose ID. It retains the existing fallback notification check.

Summary
Platform access and Flutter bridge android/app/src/main/kotlin/dev/susiee/dosekeeper/MainActivity.kt, lib/services/alarm_bridge.dart
MainActivity reports full-screen-intent access and opens the app-specific settings on Android 14+. AlarmBridge exposes both operations and defaults a null access response to true.
Permission status and warning lib/ui/today_page.dart
TodayPage refreshes and stores full-screen-intent access status. When notifications are enabled and access is unavailable, it shows a warning. The Fix action opens settings, waits one second, and refreshes the page.
A marked dose may still ring if its alarm is starting, and the permission warning can occasionally remain visible after access is enabled. The remaining merge risk is low.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to bada7
The changes remain within this app’s alarm controls and permission guidance. No new external alarm-control path or permission bypass was identified. Android-specific interruption and recovery behavior remains unverified.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The changed control paths affect this installation’s alarm service and its own Android settings. A cancel request identifies one local dose, while existing restore and medication-cleanup workflows can issue multiple requests. The inspected additions do not introduce another package target or externally callable alarm-control endpoint.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — Android remains the authority for full-screen special access. The new methods query the OS or open settings for packageName, with an app-details fallback; neither method grants access. The operations are registered on the existing Flutter method channel, rather than as external intent actions.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — The new sender supplies an explicit singleton ID array, so it does not select the handler’s clear-all branch. Removing an already-absent ID leaves other entries intact. Settings return also triggers the existing application-resume refresh, which re-reads permission state rather than treating successful navigation as permission approval.

Stop a dose that is queued to ring but not yet in ringing.
cancelFallback sends ACTION_STOP only when the dose is already in ringing. AlarmReceiver.onReceive starts ACTION_RING before startRinging adds the dose to ringing. If Today marks the dose taken or skipped in that window, no stop is sent. startRinging has no status check, so the dose can start ringing after it was dealt with. Cancelling the scheduled alarm does not retract the delivered broadcast or the queued service start.
The fix must cover this window. Record the dismissal for the dose, check it in startRinging, and clear it when the dose is no longer pending. The change should stay in AlarmService.kt. Do not add a stop-only check, because the stop arrives before the ring is processed.

Skipping. The window is between AlarmReceiver starting the service and onStartCommand running, both on the main looper, so a few milliseconds. The user would have to tap Taken on Today at that exact moment. If it happens, the alarm screen just asks about a dose already marked. That's harmless, and a persisted dismissal set isn't worth adding for it.

@SusieeTheLinuxUser Understood. You accept the risk of an alarm starting after the dose is marked. I won’t pursue the dismissal-set change.

# DoseKeeper
## Why it's built this way
A medication reminder that doesn't fire is worse than no reminder, because you
trusted it. Everything here is shaped around that:
- **A foreground service does the ringing**, so a killed activity can't silence it,
and it plays on the alarm audio stream so it's audible on silent/vibrate.

## Guardrails
- **Reliability over everything.** Never weaken the alarm path (alarm stream, foreground
service, full-screen intent, `setAlarmClock`) for cleanliness or battery friendliness.

Two fixes from the read-only alarm bug hunt.
1. Marking a ringing dose on Today didn't stop the sound
_setStatuscallscancelDose→AlarmScheduler.cancel→AlarmService.cancelFallback, which only cleared the fallback notification. When the alarm service itself was ringing for that dose, it kept ringing. It now sendsACTION_STOPfor just that dose id (other doses ringing at the same time keep ringing).2. No warning when full-screen alarms are off (Android 14+)
USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENTis a revocable special access on Android 14+. When it's off, the alarm rings but never takes over the lockscreen, the same silent failure as notifications being off. Today now shows a warning card, and its Fix button opens the right settings page. Below Android 14 it always counts as on.Not changed: the hunt also flagged that a timezone change doesn't re-arm alarms until the app is opened. A dose then rings at the same absolute moment (e.g. 08:00 London for a 09:00 Warsaw dose) until the next app open re-syncs. For medication that's arguably right, so I left it as a design call.
