test(web): typecheck core test files in the typecheck script (#1043) - #1159
packages/core/tsconfig.json excludes **/*.test.ts. The config that covers the tests, tsconfig.test.json, was only used as an ESLint parser project, so type errors in the Web test files were never reported.
packages/coretypecheck is now tsc --noEmit && tsc -p tsconfig.test.json --noEmit, the same shape as the RN core package. The root bindings/webtypecheck already runs it, so the web-typecheck job in pr-build.yml picks it up with no workflow change.
tsconfig.test.json now excludes **/*.test-d.ts. That file belongs to tsd (test:types). It imports @runanywhere/web through dist/, which the root script only builds after the core typecheck.
Fixed the errors the config reports, all in test fakes and fixtures. No src/ changes:
RunAnywhere+TTSLifecycle, RunAnywhere+VADStream: the fake module interface extended both EmscriptenRunanywhereModule and ModalityProtoModule, whose shared members differ in readonly and optionality (TS2320). They now use the intersection-type and Partial + installCurrentModelRegistryExports(...) pattern that RunAnywhere+VADLifecycle already uses. This also covers the _rac_solution_*, getValue/setValue and registry members the literals omit.
RunAnywhere+TextGenerationStream: same TS2320. The fake only goes to ModalityProtoAdapter.registerModuleCapabilities, so it now extends ModalityProtoModule only. resolveSecondToken was narrowed to null and then called (TS2349).
RunAnywhere+CrossWasmModelLifecycle: the module literal omitted the required _rac_solution_* and model-registry members. It is now typed as Partial<...>.
runtime/EmscriptenModule: the fake was missing the required getValue and setValue.
RunAnywhere+ToolCalling: addFunction's never[] callback type could not be stored in its Map, and stringToUTF8 returned undefined instead of number.
RunAnywhere+StructuredOutput: two StructuredOutputValidation literals were missing repairAttempted and repairAttempts.
RunAnywhere+STTLifecycle: _rac_audio_float32_to_pcm16 was not declared on the fake module type.
RunAnywhere+CrossWasmRAG: ragQueryStream is optional on RAGProvider and was called without a guard.

Summary by cubic
Makes packages/core typechecking cover test files, so type errors in them are now reported instead of silently passing. Fixes the type errors the config now surfaces, all in test fakes and fixtures; no src/ changes.
typecheck now runs tsc --noEmit plus tsc -p tsconfig.test.json --noEmit, and the root bindings/web script already runs it, so the CI workflow picks it up without changes.
tsconfig.test.json excludes **/*.test-d.ts, which belongs to test:types and imports through dist/.
Test fakes were updated to match the real module shapes: intersection types instead of duplicate interface extensions, Partial wrappers plus installCurrentModelRegistryExports, and missing members (getValue/setValue, _rac_audio_float32_to_pcm16, repairAttempted, repairAttempts) added or narrowed.
Written for commit ec24d64. Summary will update on new commits.

Walkthrough
The Web core package typecheck script now checks the test TypeScript project. The test configuration excludes declaration test files. Unit-test fakes and fixtures receive type updates.
Changes: Web core test typechecking
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Enable test typechecking and update test fixtures bindings/web/packages/core/package.json, bindings/web/packages/core/tsconfig.test.json, bindings/web/packages/core/tests/unit/Public/Extensions/*, bindings/web/packages/core/tests/unit/runtime/*
The typecheck script now runs the test TypeScript project, which excludes **/*.test-d.ts. Test fakes, callbacks, stubs, and structured-output fixtures receive type updates.
The Web core typecheck script now also checks the test project. Two test mocks use a callback return type that the module contract does not allow, which can make the web-typecheck CI job fail. Fix those two signatures before merging. The change touches no production code.

Explanation
The title "test(web): typecheck core test files in the typecheck script (#1043)" matches the main change. The PR adds tsconfig.test.json to the packages/core typecheck script, and the test fixes it requires are in the changeset. The title is specific and conventional. The trailing issue number is harmless.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description follows the repository template. It has a clear description with the issue link and a precise account of the changes. The Type of Change, Testing, Labels, and Checklist sections are filled in. The Web SDK label is checked, and the Testing section lists the commands run. Platform-specific checkboxes for other SDKs are left unchecked, which is expected for a web-only change. The Documentation checkbox is unchecked, and the Screenshots section says N/A. Those are acceptable for this change.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
All changed files relate to the #1043 objective, and the PR does not change src/ files. The changes fall into three groups:
Config and script: packages/core/package.json adds the test-config typecheck pass. tsconfig.test.json excludes **/*.test-d.ts. The PR states that this file belongs to tsd (test:types) and imports @runanywhere/web through dist/, which the typecheck script does not build first. Excluding it keeps the typecheck pass from failing on a file that is outside the typecheck scope. This change is needed for the new typecheck step to run cleanly.
Test fakes and fixtures: edits in RunAnywhere+TTSLifecycle, RunAnywhere+VADStream, RunAnywhere+TextGenerationStream, RunAnywhere+CrossWasmModelLifecycle, RunAnywhere+STTLifecycle, RunAnywhere+StructuredOutput, RunAnywhere+ToolCalling, RunAnywhere+CrossWasmRAG, and runtime/EmscriptenModule test files. Each edit changes a fake's types, a missing member, or a missing required field. Each one is a direct fix for a type error that the new typecheck pass reports. The RunAnywhere+VADStream and RunAnywhere+ToolCalling edits also adopt the Partial and installCurrentModelRegistryExports pattern used in RunAnywhere+VADLifecycle.
No unrelated refactors, feature changes, or documentation changes appear in the diff summary.
I did not find a change that lacks a connection to the objective. Whether the test-fake edits fully clear the typecheck is covered by the linked-issue assessment, not this one.

Resolution

Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Linked issue #1043 has one coding objective group: run tsc -p packages/core/tsconfig.test.json --noEmit in a script and in CI, and make Web test files typecheck clean.
Wiring (met by the diff): The PR changes packages/coretypecheck to run tsc --noEmit && tsc -p tsconfig.test.json --noEmit. The PR states that the root bindings/webtypecheck already runs this script, so web-typecheck in pr-build.yml runs it. I did not inspect the root package.json or pr-build.yml, so this wiring is taken from the PR description.
Test fixes (implemented by the diff): The diff changes test fakes and fixtures in RunAnywhere+TTSLifecycle, RunAnywhere+VADStream, RunAnywhere+TextGenerationStream, RunAnywhere+CrossWasmModelLifecycle, RunAnywhere+CrossWasmRAG, RunAnywhere+STTLifecycle, RunAnywhere+StructuredOutput, runtime/EmscriptenModule, and RunAnywhere+ToolCalling. These edits address the errors the PR reports.
Unresolved: The reviewer reports six TS2322 errors on addFunction mocks in DeviceRegistrationAdapter.test.ts, RunAnywhere+CrossWasmRAG.test.ts, RunAnywhere+StructuredOutput.test.ts, RunAnywhere+ToolCalling.test.ts, RunAnywhere+TTSLifecycle.test.ts, and RunAnywhere+VADStream.test.ts under TypeScript 5.9.3. This report is not independently verified. At head, RunAnywhere+ToolCalling.test.ts types the addFunction callback as (...args: Array<number | bigint>), not never[]. RunAnywhere+VADStream.test.ts assigns an addFunction taking (...args: number[]) into a Partial<FakeVADModule>. Whether these assignments compile depends on the declared addFunction signature in EmscriptenRunanywhereModule and on whether that member uses method or property syntax. My read of src/runtime/EmscriptenModule.ts was truncated before that declaration, so I could not confirm it. DeviceRegistrationAdapter.test.ts is named by the reviewer but does not appear in the PR's changed-file summary, so its head state is unknown.
The done-when item "Web test files typecheck clean" therefore cannot be confirmed from the available evidence.
Resolution
Provide the result of tsc -p packages/core/tsconfig.test.json --noEmit at the reviewed head, run with TypeScript 5.9.3, showing whether any TS2322 or other errors remain. Also provide the declared addFunction member signature in EmscriptenRunanywhereModule (in bindings/web/packages/core/src/runtime/EmscriptenModule.ts) and confirm whether DeviceRegistrationAdapter.test.ts at head contains an addFunction mock that is affected by this change.

Thanks for this, @sharmis-tp! Getting the core test files type-checked in npm run typecheck is a nice improvement, and the fixes to the fakes read well.
Before we merge, one thing to sort out: with this change the new tsc -p tsconfig.test.json --noEmit step still reports 6 x TS2322 on addFunction mocks (TypeScript 5.9.3, merged into current main), so the web-typecheck job goes red. The interface declares addFunction(fn: (...args: never[]) => number | bigint | void, signature: string) (packages/core/src/runtime/EmscriptenModule.ts:832), and TypeScript checks callback parameters strictly, so a mock whose fn takes (...args: number[]) is not assignable.
bindings/web/packages/core/tests/unit/Adapters/DeviceRegistrationAdapter.test.ts:119, .../Public/Extensions/RunAnywhere+CrossWasmRAG.test.ts:763, ...+StructuredOutput.test.ts:115, ...+ToolCalling.test.ts:226 (via addFunction at ~173), ...+TTSLifecycle.test.ts:265, ...+VADStream.test.ts:111 — declare the mock's fn parameter as (...args: never[]) => number | bigint | void to match the interface, and cast where you store it, e.g. trampolines.set(ptr, fn as Trampoline). Running npm run typecheck in bindings/web should then be clean.
The two cubic notes (the Partial<...> fake in the TTS test, and the double tsc pass in the script) are nits and don't block this.
Once that's in we'll take another look. Thanks again!

Change the addFunction callback return type in the CrossWasmRAG and StructuredOutput mocks.
These two mocks type the callback as returning unknown. The addFunction contract requires number | bigint | void, and unknown is not assignable to that type. The web-typecheck job can fail on this mismatch.
