Why

  • Long task titles end in "…", which cuts words mid-letter and makes similar titles hard to tell apart.
  • On hover, the action buttons sit on top of the title with a hard edge.

What this PR adds

  • Task titles and local project subtitles stay on one line and fade out over their last 20 px instead of ending in an ellipsis.
  • The hover action strip gets a matching fade, and other computers' tasks use the same treatment.

Related: independent of #1278 (calmer rows) and #1236 (collapsed rail); all three touch the sidebar rows, so whichever lands later gets a small rebase.

Remote: other computers' task titles fade the same way, against their own row background.

Details for reviewers (design, files, checks)

Commit: Agent: fade long sidebar task titles instead of cutting them.

Design

  • Fades use the existing idle, selected and hover row colors; no new theme tokens.
  • CRLF, LF and CR each become one space for display, computed when cached rows change, not in render. Search still matches the original title.
  • Renaming suppresses the hover gradient. Activity indicators and the task-state ladder are unchanged.

Files (under apps/maple-agent/app/src/ui/chat): sidebar.rs, sidebar_computers.rs, tests.rs. 3 files, +118 / −22.

Checks (component Nix shell, Xcode 26.5)

  • cargo fmt --all -- --check: passed.
  • cargo clippy -p maple-agent-app --all-targets --locked -- -D warnings: passed.
  • cargo test -p maple-agent-app --locked: 944 passed, 2 ignored on master e5870485.
  • Full workspace CI was not run locally; GitHub CI covers it. The local commit hook was skipped (MAPLE_HOOK_SKIP=1) because of the existing updater test installer::tests::reads_native_release_tar_format_and_preserves_bundle_modes, which fails only on this machine.
  • Checked by hand in light and dark against master (recordings above).

A long task title ended in an ellipsis, and on hover the action strip
sliced through it with a hard edge. The title and project lines now
fade into the row over 20 px, in the row's own color (normal,
selected, or hovered), so over empty space the fade is invisible. The
hover strip leads with the same fade instead of solid padding, so the
title fades out just before the buttons. A row being renamed has no
hover highlight, so its fade keeps the row color too. Other computers'
task rows get the same fade, in their own selected and hovered colors.

The fade is always drawn, so text that just fits softens slightly at
its end; detecting overflow would take a custom element for a few
pixels.

The lines no longer wrap, so a line break in a title or project name
(\r\n, \n or \r) becomes a space when the row is built. Search still
uses the title as written, and a row built from a multiline title is
reused while that title is unchanged.
