Settings→Plugins - Search for "Glass Effect"

When the glass effect is enabled, you can activate click-through mode:
- Shortcut:
Ctrl + Alt + C - This allows mouse clicks to pass through the transparent IDE window to windows behind it
- Press
Ctrl + Alt + Cagain to disable click-through and restore normal interaction
💡 Tip: Click-through mode is useful when you want to see and interact with windows behind the IDE while keeping it visible.
- Go to
Settings→Glass Effect - Drag the slider to adjust opacity (0-255)
- Lower value = more transparent, Higher value = more opaque
- Click

Why is there no effect?
- Make sure you're on Windows 10/11
- Enable the effect via
Ctrl+Alt+Gor Settings - Try restarting IDEA
Why is there a white area at the top?
Right-click the project switcher button (top-left corner with project initials) and uncheck "Show Project Gradient".
Will this affect performance?
The transparency is handled by Windows DWM, so the impact on IDEA performance is minimal.
What is click-through mode?
Click-through mode allows mouse events to pass through the transparent IDE window to windows behind it. Use Ctrl+Alt+C to toggle this mode. It's useful when you want to see and interact with background windows while keeping the IDE visible.
