Answer engines (Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT search, Perplexity) and Hashnode's AEO check scored the site poorly: an audit of all 51 pages against a 27-check rubric, built from published AEO guidance, averaged 74.6/100 with no page at 95. The main gaps were pages that open without a direct answer, headings that don't say what they answer, claims without sources, content that only appears after JavaScript runs, and missing dates and structured data.

Templates

  • Breadcrumbs on docs, blog index and posts, with BreadcrumbList JSON-LD.
  • Published and updated dates from each file's git history, shared by the page, its JSON-LD and the sitemap. VERCEL_DEEP_CLONE=true is set so production builds see the history.
  • FAQPage JSON-LD built from the page's own FAQ headings. TechArticle and BlogPosting carry dates, publisher and isPartOf.
  • Markdown versions of the blog (/blog.md, /blog/<slug>.md, and Accept: text/markdown), listed in llms.txt, with a canonical Link header.
  • Inactive tabs stay in the HTML, and the landing demo reads its first week on the server, so crawlers that don't run JavaScript see every example and event.
  • Headings and the breadcrumb no longer carry classes that make Readability, which many AI tools use to extract articles, drop them.
  • Google Analytics loads lazily.

Content

  • Every page opens with a direct answer, sections answer their headings, and code samples sit under a heading instead of in the lead.
  • Claims about provider APIs link to the provider's own docs.
  • Short page titles get a search title that stands alone.
  • The Calendly booking limits in the README are corrected.

Result: the final audit averages 99.3, and every page scores at least 95. Verified with typecheck, Biome and next build. Screenshots at 390 and 1440 px show no horizontal overflow.

Answer engines look for question-shaped headings and short direct
answers. Each post now has both, and its FAQ is also published as
FAQPage structured data built from the post itself.
