A fresh pip install agent-ultra-kit has no pytest (the core is dependency-free), so bob's RED step collected nothing and the doctor's bob check crashed with a traceback. Caught by installing main into a clean venv.

Changes

  • run_pytest_step preflights pytest and returns a clear "pip install pytest" message; no misleading receipt is written.
  • The gate's live re-run fails closed with the same message instead of a cryptic exit -1.
  • doctor reports WARN with the install hint (13 pass / 1 warn / 0 fail on a bare install); demo skips the bob line without failing.
  • New bob extra: pip install agent-ultra-kit[bob]; README + docs note the one runtime dependency.

Verification

  • Fresh venv WITHOUT pytest: doctor 13 pass / 1 warn / 0 fail, demo PASSED, bob run --mock blocks with the actionable message.
  • Same venv WITH pytest: doctor 14 pass / 0 fail, bob run --mock gate PASSED (9 receipts).
  • Local: 171/171 tests, leak gate PASS.

The kit core is dependency-free, so a bare `pip install agent-ultra-kit`
has no pytest — bob's RED step then collected nothing and the doctor's bob
check crashed. Now: run_pytest_step preflights pytest and returns a clear
"pip install pytest" message (no misleading receipt written), the gate's
live re-run fails closed with the same message, doctor reports WARN with
the install hint instead of FAIL, demo skips the bob line without failing,
and a `bob` extra (pytest>=7) plus README/docs notes document the one
runtime dependency. Caught by a fresh-venv install test of main.
