Summary

  • avoid runaway sign-in DMA-BUF allocations on WebKitGTK 2.54 and newer while retaining NVIDIA handling and explicit user overrides
  • adapt SKetU-l's workaround from fix(webview): disable runaway WebKitGTK DMA-BUF renderer #925 (fbd5554), which remains open; offer this draft as an alternative with runtime diagnostics, not a claim of original authorship
  • record the loaded WebKitGTK version and existing backend/workaround messages in the application log
  • verify formatting and four existing webview tests in a standalone copy with cached dependencies; leave locked workspace compilation pending unavailable dependencies
  • verify a host WebKitGTK 2.54.1 blank-page open/close under a 384 mib cgroup limit with swap disabled and a six-second deadline: 1.499 seconds, 186.8 mib peak; leave actual apple login and flatpak validation pending
