As following screenshot from BlackBerry KEY2 user manual indicates: The 9 dot key is called "Universal Shortcut"

In Android it just launches a weird custom app for defining shortcuts or something.

I think in a Linux environment, the closest equivalent would be the CTRL key. It's also a lot more useful than "RMETA"

in case someone decides to map left ctrl and right ctrl to different things like a monster, left ctrl seems more default.
