Summary

From the agent docs feedback (Oct 19-23), about 15 reports.

  • Auth guidance contradicted onboarding. The router said "get a key first, do not default to MCP OAuth" and called OAuth-only a "half-setup". agents.runpod.io tells agents to sign in with OAuth and defer runpodctl, Flash and API keys until a task needs them, so agents hit both instructions during setup. The router, runpod-mcp/SKILL.md and runpod-mcp/reference/connect.md now lead with OAuth, keep the key order for CLI-only steps, and keep the API key as the path when no user is present or a client's OAuth callback is rejected.
  • Hosted URL. .mcp.json, the README and the skills named the legacy https://mcp.getrunpod.io/; the docs name https://mcp.runpod.io/. They're separate OAuth issuers, so agents registered both. All references now use mcp.runpod.io, and the migrate scanner recognizes both hosts.
  • Installer references now pass --client <id> (without it, the installer configures nothing in a non-interactive shell).

Related: runpod/runpod-mcp#153 switches the installer default to the same URL.

Test plan

  • validate_marketplace, check_versions, check_runpod_branding, check_frontmatter, check_links, check_cli_absence_claims, check_migrate_scanner, check_migrate_tables, check_migrate_class3 all pass (Python 3.14).
  • runpod-migrate unit tests pass.

The router said to get an API key first and called OAuth-only a
half-setup, which contradicted the onboarding guide at agents.runpod.io
(OAuth now, CLIs and keys when a task needs them). Agents onboarding
from that guide hit both instructions. Lead with OAuth, keep the key
order for CLI-only steps and the no-user case.

The bundled .mcp.json and skills still named the legacy
mcp.getrunpod.io, a separate OAuth issuer from the documented
mcp.runpod.io. The migrate scanner now recognizes both hosts.
