Builds zlib 1.3.2 from madler's own source archive into a cmeel prefix - shared library, static archive, headers and the CMake/pkg-config files - via the cmeel CMake build backend. Upstream publishes no riscv64 wheel.

Mirrors upstream's release.yml.

Differs from upstream

  • Single-arch matrix (riscv64 only) - the macOS/x86_64/aarch64 legs are not applicable here.

Matrix: one job - [tool.cmeel] has-sitelib = false, so the wheel holds no Python extension and a single py3-none wheel covers every interpreter.

Testing

  • upstream only installs the wheel; this also checks the wheel's contents and runs a compress2/uncompress round-trip through ctypes against the built libz.so.

License: Wheel bundles zlib 1.3.2 (Zlib) together with upstream's own LICENSE text.

Builds clean from the tag with no patches; the wheel's layout matches upstream's x86_64 release wheel exactly.

Stock madler zlib behind the cmeel wrapper; no patch and no build flag needed.
Rehearsed end to end under QEMU riscv64 before pushing and reproduced on the
runner: real riscv64 libz.so.1.3.2, compress2/uncompress round-trip, publish
job dry-ran clean. Unblocks cmeel-assimp.
