The request

corning ULA round bottom 96well plate cat no. 7007

Closes #46

Decisions needed

  • Is 7007 the catalogue number on the box? Corning sells several 96-well ULA plates: 7007 (clear, round bottom, this pull request), 3474 (clear, flat bottom, Add Corning 3474 96-well plate labware #45) and 4515 / 4520 (black, clear round-bottom spheroid plates, Add Corning 4520 96-well plate labware #39). The request's description, "ULA round bottom", matches 7007.
  • 7007 is not named on Corning's dimension sheet. The sheet's "96 well round bottom" row lists eleven other catalogue numbers. The row is used because 7007's own Product Description agrees with it on every dimension the two share (depth, top and bottom diameter). The A1 offsets, plate height, skirt height and floor stack come from that row only. Accept the row for 7007, or check A1 against a plate in hand?
  • Corning gives three different well volumes: 360 µL on the sheet, "0.360µL" in the Product Description (360 µL with a unit slip), and 330 µL on the catalogue page. The file records only the catalogue's 75–200 µL working range, so none of the three is in the data. This affects nothing geometric.
  • The radius of the U floor is unpublished. bottom_radius is left out, so readers take a hemisphere of the 6.35 mm bottom diameter. The ULA hydrogel's thickness is also unpublished, and it is not in bottom_thickness.

Sources used

  • Controlling document: Corning Microplate Dimensions 96/384/1536, row "96 well round bottom" under "Solid black, white, and clear polystyrene plates". Corning publishes no per-catalogue drawing for assay plates.
  • Cross-check: Product Description 7007, Rev 9, Feb 9 2026, imperial, ±0.010 in. It gives length 5.030 in, width 3.365 in, depth 0.445 in, well 0.270 in at the top and 0.250 in at the bottom, and 0.650 in height with the lid on.
  • Catalogue page (web_reference): clear plate, round clear bottom, ULA, sterile, with lid, working volume 75–200 µL.

Judgement calls

  • diameter 6.35 mm is the bottom figure on both documents. For this U well it is taken as the diameter where the wall meets the round floor. diameter_top 6.86 mm is the opening.
  • bottom_elevation 1.76 mm is the sheet's "Distance to bottom of plate", and floor_height 2.88 mm is its "Well Bottom Elevation". 1.76 + 1.14 = 2.90 mm, against the 2.88 mm printed; both are recorded as printed. The floor plus the depth gives 14.18 mm, against the 14.2 mm plate height.
  • The footprint is 127.76 × 85.48 mm. The Product Description gives 127.76 × 85.47 mm and the sheet rounds to 127.8 × 85.5 mm. The plate height is the sheet's 14.2 mm.
  • The well is recorded as round, inferred from the sheet's top/bottom diameter column and from "Diameter of Well" in the Product Description.
  • Nothing was scaled off a drawing or measured.

Testing

  • pytest -q: 184 passed.
  • lint (CI's pixi exec command: ruff check, ruff format --check, ty check): all passed.
  • Geometry check:
