Planning to refactor this code to separate out the JSON output generation and logic part-out in their own helper functions.
Makes sense to add unit tests for the same, though we are not planning to test the API using DB or API mocks. Only the refactored logic and JSON generation parts are being planned on being testing.
The rest we will prob test out as part of an integration test-suite later on.
