fix(acp): preserve Windows shim stdio pipes - #30544
Fixes#29088. On Windows, an owned ACP process launched through a .cmd shim gets shell: true and detached: true, losing its stdio pipes and opening a console. Grok initialize then times out on recurring health checks.
Change
Gate ACP spawn detachment on the host platform being non-Windows. Keep ownDetachedProcessGroup unchanged so Windows PID tree cleanup still runs. POSIX detachment is unchanged; no changes to Grok ownership policy or windowsHide.
Scope and approval
This qualifies as a small, focused fix for an obvious bug: it corrects the demonstrated Windows spawn-option combination within the existing ACP runtime. See the reproduction and spawn matrix in #29088.
Verification
One regression test fails on upstream main (expected true to be false) and passes with this fix. It checks Windows spawn options and retained PID cleanup.
Windows runtime check through makeGrokAcpRuntime, binaryPath: grok, and a temporary grok.cmd first on PATH: shell: true, detached: false, initialize succeeds with protocol version 1. Explicit Windows PID tree termination succeeds. Subsequent scope disposal logged the already-terminated PID as missing.
No visual assertion was made about console windows; the successful pipe handshake verifies the reported hang.
vp run check:changed passed on the merged-main tree (identical to remote head 27ff3b3e7f): 97 tests, typecheck of 14 affected packages, lint, format, GraphQL generation, and both knip checks. CI owns the full suites and build.
Review follow-up b5e625d785: PID equality is asserted after scope disposal and cleanup always targets the spawned child. vp run check:changed passed on an identical file tree: 97 tests, 14 affected typechecks, lint, format, GraphQL generation, and both knip checks.
Implemented and verified by GPT-6.1 Sol through the Codex harness.
Integrated Windows client verification
Verified the unchanged PR commit 1f81ab9 integrated onto main 9e85538535 (local integration e80019e767) in an isolated Windows dev instance. In the actual web client, a configured temporary grok.cmd forwarded arguments and stdio to installed Grok 1.0.70; provider discovery reported authenticated and returned four models. A Supervised Grok 4.7 Fast turn returned exactly T3_GROK_WINDOWS_30544_OK and reached Done.
After stopping the retained dev-server session, every one of the 17 captured process identities was gone, including the retained Grok process and its observed descendants. PID creation times were checked to avoid confusing reused PIDs; both test ports stopped listening. This proves a usable real-client CMD/ACP path and observed disposal for this run. It does not certify absence of visible consoles or focus stealing; no direct window observation was performed. Browser snapshot/click automation was unreliable, so UI state was read and activated through the Browser panel's page evaluation tool. No replacement browser system was used.
Cleanup regression correction
At b5e625d785, the regression asserts detachment only for the ACP launch. The finalizer's taskkill request is handled separately. Teardown always terminates the captured mock-child PID through Node on either host platform; equality with the requested finalizer PID is asserted after disposal, outside swallowed finalizer errors. Production code is unchanged.
Verification on Windows: focused regression passes (1 passed, 94 skipped); targeted lint, format, and diff checks pass. Server effect-tsgo tsrs --noEmit passed at preceding test head d3b320b309; it was not repeated for this assertion relocation. Commit hooks pass format, lint, and knip. Required CI passes at b5e625d78554b49c38cb660e79f5209e4ca33e05, CodeRabbit has completed, and GitHub reports a clean merge state. One fingerprint workflow attempt is cancelled; no result is claimed for that attempt. Original real-client evidence retains its capture SHA labels.

Hosted checks now pass with no pending or failing results; GitHub reports a clean merge state. The recorded Macroscope approval predates this head. Earlier local and client evidence keeps its original SHA attribution; no new client run is claimed.
Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — The change preserves Windows ACP shim communication by disabling process detachment while retaining PID-tree cleanup. POSIX behavior stays unchanged, and reported Windows runtime verification covers initialization and termination.

Walkthrough
The ACP runtime now disables detached spawning on Windows while retaining process-group ownership. A new test checks the spawn option and verifies that process-tree cleanup passes the spawned PID to the Windows tree terminator.
Changes: Windows ACP process handling

Summary
Windows spawn and cleanup packages/provider-acp/src/server/AcpSessionRuntime.ts, apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/Adapters/AcpAdapterV2.test.ts
The runtime disables detached spawning on Windows when configuring an owned process group. The test verifies this setting and checks that cleanup passes the spawned PID to the Windows tree terminator.
No actionable merge-blocking risk remains in the reviewed change.

Explanation
Issue #29088 requires Windows ACP launches to avoid detached: true when a .cmd or .bat shim uses shell: true, while retaining process-tree cleanup. AcpSessionRuntime now sets detached to false on win32 and leaves ownDetachedProcessGroup unchanged. The added regression test asserts the Windows spawn option and verifies cleanup receives the spawned PID. The reported Windows shim check confirms that ACP initialize succeeds.

Completed the requested integrated Windows check at unchanged PR head 1f81ab9, on main 9e85538535 (integration e80019e767). The isolated real client discovered authenticated Grok through a real temporary .cmd shim, completed a Supervised Grok 4.7 Fast marker turn, and showed the exact reply plus Done. After retained-session shutdown, all 17 captured PID/creation-time identities had exited, including the observed Grok subtree, and both test ports were closed.
Updated Verification in the description with these results and limits. Console visibility/focus was not directly observed, so no claim is made about that symptom. This verifies the CMD/stdio hang fix and observed disposal, not every Windows launcher configuration.
