fix(web): deleting a thread clears its side chats' drafts - #29832
When you delete a thread, the server also deletes its side chats. The web client clears the deleted thread's composer draft and releases its staged uploads, but it does not do this for the side chats. Deleting a side chat with its own Delete button also leaves its draft behind.
So any text or attachments typed into a side chat's composer stay in the persisted draft store, and its staged uploads are never released. Side chat ids are never reused, so nothing in the UI can reach or clean up these drafts.
Change
useThreadActions.deleteThread: after a successful delete, release uploads and clear the draft for each side chat of the deleted thread too. Side chats are found by lineage.sideChat and lineage.parentThreadId, the same way client-runtime groups them by parent.
Archived threads that aren't loaded on this client: maria-rcks added a threadFamily read so their side chats are found too. If that read fails, the delete falls back to the thread shells this client holds and still runs, because a cleanup lookup must never block deletion.
SideChatPane Delete: after a successful delete, release the side chat's uploads and clear its draft, as deleteThread already does for a thread.
Scope and approval
Very small, focused fix for an obvious bug, so no prior issue: deleting a thread already clears its own draft and uploads, and this applies the same cleanup to the side chats deleted with it.
Overlap search: no PR or issue covers side chat drafts. The closest are #29792 (worktree prompt counts cascade-deleted side chats as occupants; same function, different lines and defect) and #29643 (fallback navigation after delete).
Verification
Red on main, new case in useThreadActions.permissions.test.ts: × clears the drafts of the side chats deleted with it. Received effects held only release-uploads:thread and clear-draft:thread, with no side-chat entries.
Green: vp test run src/hooks/useThreadActions.permissions.test.ts: 37 passed.
vp run check:changed: format, lint, knip, typecheck, tests (3 files) and react compiler all pass.
Not checked: no real-client run. The SideChatPane change is two calls that match deleteThread and has no separate test. Closing a never-run side chat's tab (onlyIfUnused delete) is unchanged, because the client cannot tell whether the server deleted it.

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This clears stale drafts and releases staged uploads when side chats are deleted directly or with their parent thread. Cleanup runs only after successful deletion and is limited to the affected threads.

Walkthrough
After successful side-chat deletion, the web client releases composer draft uploads and clears the saved draft. Parent-thread deletion also cleans up drafts for linked side chats. Tests cover family lookup failure and check that cleanup excludes ordinary forks and unrelated side chats.

The orchestration state adds a thread-family query. After successful deletion, useThreadActions releases uploads and clears drafts for the target and matching side chats. Tests cover server family lookup, lookup failure, and cleanup that excludes ordinary forks and unrelated side chats.
Deleting an archived thread still works when the server lookup of its side chats fails. In that rare case, drafts or staged files for archived side chats may stay in local storage. Merging is reasonable, but the owners should decide whether to accept this tradeoff or follow up.

Clean side-chat drafts when the parent is absent from the live shell.
Deleting an archived thread can take this branch and return before the new cleanup loop. The server deletes its side chats, but their drafts and uploads remain. Obtain the affected side-chat IDs and perform the cleanup after successful deletion in this branch too. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Update the `if (!resolved)` deletion branch to obtain the affected side-chat IDs
and, after deletion succeeds, clean up their drafts and uploads before
returning. Preserve the existing cleanup behavior for threads found in the live
shell.
Add a side chat with a different parent to the deletion test.
361-364: Trivial · Data Integrity & Integration · Quick win
Add a side chat with a different parent to the deletion test.
The test has one side chat, and its parent is the deleted thread. Removing the parentThreadId check would leave the test passing. A side chat that belongs to another thread would then lose its draft and uploads when this thread is deleted. A case with a side chat under a different parent, asserting that neither its draft nor its uploads are cleared, would catch that regression.

Delta since your verification at 74df5f4: one commit, 85de9a7, answering CodeRabbit's review of your archived-parent fix. If the threadFamily read fails, the archived delete now falls back to the thread shells the client already holds and still runs. Before, it returned early, so a failed cleanup lookup blocked the delete. Permission checks still run first, and when the read succeeds, the cleanup you verified is unchanged. Your extended permission test now also covers a failed read: it fails on 74df5f4 (expected 'Failure' to be 'Success') and passes now. An independent GPT-6.1 Sol review approved it, with 37 permission tests and 102 related thread-action, undo and draft-store tests passing.
