feat(web): add colored PR text preference - #27167
Sidebar PR numbers are harder to spot when only the small icon carries the status color. Add Appearance → Color PR text, enabled by default, so numbers, multiple-PR counts, and stack counts inherit their existing icon color. Turning it off restores the gray text treatment.
The preference uses existing client settings, settings search, per-setting reset, and Restore defaults. It applies to the shared web/desktop sidebar, sidebar search, and command palette. Native mobile already colors its PR text; providers, server behavior, and connection modes are unchanged. This is a focused appearance option for an established capability, with colored text on by default as Julius requested.
Verification
vp run check:changed passes format, lint, knip, affected typechecks, 58 existing tests, and React Compiler checks.
Exercised the setting in the isolated dev client: default on, off, persisted off after reload, and reset to on. Verified matching icon/text colors for open, merged, closed, draft, multiple-PR, and stack badges. Search results honor both settings for the same six badge shapes in light and dark themes.
Matched screenshots below use synthetic demo threads at 1440×1000 in both color schemes. “Before” is the off setting, which preserves the current main appearance; “After” is the new default. Captures are unmodified sidebar crops and exclude hostnames and real threads.
Built-in Browser screenshots timed out; Alex authorized the installed Playwright for capture. No cosmetic UI tests added. A separate Electron session and native mobile were not run.

Search results with Color PR text off
The shared search badge renderer now applies the preference to sidebar search and command palette results. Before the search correction, text stayed colored with the setting off; after, only the icons carry status color. The fixture and viewport match; relative timestamps advanced between captures.

The change adds a client setting for pull-request badge text color. Users can change or restore the setting in Appearance settings, and settings search includes it. Both pull-request badges use the setting to determine their text color.

Summary
Setting contract and controls packages/contracts/src/settings.ts, apps/web/src/components/settings/AppearanceSettingsPanel.tsx, apps/web/src/components/settings/SettingsPanels.tsx, apps/web/src/components/settings/settingsSearch.ts
The client settings schema defaults colorizePullRequestText to true, and the patch type accepts it. Appearance settings can change or reset it. Restore handling and settings search include the setting.
Badge text rendering apps/web/src/components/ThreadStatusIndicators.tsx
Both pull-request badge components read colorizePullRequestText. Their text inherits its surrounding color when the setting is enabled and uses text-secondary-label when disabled.
The preference is reported to apply to both sidebar and search-result PR badges. No concrete merge-blocking risk is established.

The title "feat(web): add colored PR text preference" matches the main change: a new Appearance setting that colors PR numbers, multiple-PR counts, and stack counts. It follows the conventional commit format and names the affected area (web).
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description follows the template's main sections: Problem, Change, Scope and approval, and Verification. It explains the sidebar problem, the new Color PR text setting, and the scope. It cites a maintainer request (Julius) but does not link a triaged issue or discussion, and the template asks for the approval comment or link. Verification is detailed, with the commands run, manual checks, screenshots, and what was not checked. The template's model/harness line is present. The Problem section is not labeled as such, and the Change section is not explicit about the fix. Overall the description is mostly complete. The main gap is the missing approval link under Scope and approval.
Resolution
Link the approval comment from Julius (or the discussion with explicit maintainer approval of the direction and scope). Add explicit Problem and Change headings that follow the template. Optionally note that the search correction is part of this change.

Verified head 82d23ea0696efa70967026217dd6aec273c5fbec as-is on a Linux Boat VM, using the real dev web client, repository Playwright, and /usr/bin/google-chrome at 1440×1000.
Ran github/main (15fe283272) in a separate worktree after vp i. Created a project for the real repository, submitted a Codex gpt-6.1-sol turn, and linked this PR through the app. Main showed gray stack-count text with a green icon and had no Color PR text setting.
Stopped main before starting the exact PR head after vp i, with an explicit isolated home. Copied the app-created state between stopped servers for matching captures. Created another thread through the UI and completed another real Codex gpt-6.1-sol turn on the PR head. No mocks, fixtures, or demo data.
Default on: single PR numbers and stack counts match their status icons. Off: text turns gray while icons retain their color. Checked sidebar search and command-palette results using 27167, in light and dark themes.
Off survives reload. Per-setting reset and Restore device defaults return it to on. Settings search finds the control. Clicking the PR badge still opens this PR's detail panel. Real provider messages still finish.
