fix(opencode): keep ACP question choices and fold the custom answer - #25879
qN_custom — type: "string", description: "Type your own answer" (or "Add your own answer" for multi-select).
The generic ACP mapping only reads enum, and turns every property into its own question. So the card shows 1/2 with no choices at all: step 1 is the question without options, step 2 is Type your own answer.
Stored request before this change:
[
{ "id": "q0", "header": "Color preference", "question": "Which color do you prefer?", "options": [] },
{ "id": "q0_custom", "header": "Color preference (other)", "question": "Type your own answer", "options": [] }
]
Repro: add OpenCode V2 2.1.4 over ACP, ask it to call question with one single-select question that has a header and two options, then look at the card above the composer. Selecting an option is impossible; typing in step 2 overrides q0 on OpenCode's side.
Cause: packages/provider-acp/src/server/adapter.ts (handleElicitation mapping) reads only enum and maps Object.entries(properties) one-to-one to questions.
Change
New provider flavor extractOpenCodeElicitationForm in packages/provider-acp-registry/src/server/opencodeAcp.ts:
recognizes the complete OpenCode form shape (qN plus optional qN_custom),
folds the companion into its question and sets allowCustomAnswer,
reads titled oneOf / items.anyOf choices and keeps their const values,
maps a reply back to qN for a known choice and to qN_custom for typed text (including attachment text appended by intake).
Wired only for registry agent ids opencode / opencode-v2, or a local command basename opencode / opencode-v2. Every other form, and every other provider, keeps the generic ACP mapping.
This is a focused bug fix for an obvious defect (the focused-fix exception in CONTRIBUTING), so there is no prior issue. It intentionally does not change the generic ACP choice mapping covered by #21770 or the OMP companion handling in #24012.
Verification
New unit tests: packages/provider-acp-registry/src/server/opencodeAcp.test.ts — 13 passed. Covers one question + companion, selected value, a value/label collision between options, typed custom answer, multi-select, attachments, empty/array answers, multiple questions, malformed or enum-based choices, orphan companions, and unrelated-form fallback.
Typecheck: @t3tools/provider-acp-registry and t3 pass. vp lint and vp fmt --check on the changed files pass.
Full AcpAdapterV2.test.ts: 69 passed, 1 failed. The failure is unrelated and pre-existing: negotiates and executes optional native session forks through the ACP runtime expects empty terminal output but receives a Bearer … string; it fails the same way on clean main in this environment.
Not checked: a live desktop session against OpenCode 2.1.4 (protocol-level replay only), mobile rendering, and live multi-select.
OpenCode 2.1.4 sends an ACP elicitation form with a qN choice field (choices in oneOf) and a qN_custom companion for free-form answers. The generic ACP mapping only reads enum and turns every property into its own question, so the card showed two option-less steps: the question and "Type your own answer".
Recognize OpenCode's complete form shape at the provider flavor boundary, fold the companion into its question, read titled oneOf/items.anyOf choices, and restore the selected value or typed text on reply. Unrelated forms keep the generic fallback.
Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a narrowly scoped OpenCode ACP elicitation bug fix with explicit fallback behavior and dedicated unit/replay coverage; the other changed files are test harnesses. A remaining high-severity finding concerns an option-value/label collision in the new response mapping and should be addressed independently.

An option label can equal another option's value. The combined value/label search returned the earlier label match, so selecting the second option sent the first option's value. Search all values first, then fall back to labels.

The registry adapter now detects OpenCode agents and selects an elicitation-form extractor. The extractor parses supported forms and maps answers and attachment text to ACP content, or cancels invalid answers. Schema generation now uses a separate transformation helper with keyword normalization, composition flattening, and regression tests for property-name handling.

Treat enum as a choice marker in the text-only branch, so an OpenCode form field that carries enum choices is handled by the generic ACP mapping with its options instead of becoming an option-less text question.
kept the original commits and merged current main into this branch. the OpenCode parser is 40 lines shorter, with one answer-mapping path for single and multi-select questions. exact const matching keeps typed display labels as custom text and preserves blank const values.
the new multi-select wire replay exposed a decoder bug before the OpenCode hook: titled items were generated as Schema.Never. included the focused generator repair and the two affected generated declarations, without unrelated generated changes.

the regression fails on main with two empty questions. browser verification through the real ACP adapter and orchestration returns q0: "blue" for a choice and q0_custom for typed text.
both independent reviews approve 1a5c176269.
unverified: a live OpenCode 2.1.4 model session, native desktop/mobile, and live multi-select. the browser evidence uses protocol replay; multi-select has wire replay coverage. there is no separate generator-level test harness; generation was exercised directly.
Reduce the OpenCode adapter cases to one wiring case.
opencodeAcp.test.ts already covers these behaviors at the lowest layer: option preservation, custom companion routing, multi-select split, empty-answer cancel, and the unrelated-form undefined result. These new rows repeat them through the adapter.
The cancel case also repeats the generic adapter path. That path returns { action: "cancel" } when userInput.answers === null, and it does not depend on OpenCode.
The only new adapter-level behavior is the routing in adapter.ts that selects extractOpenCodeElicitationForm. One row proves this. The "typed answer goes to q0_custom" row suffices, because the generic mapping gives different content for it.
Keep that row. Delete the other four OpenCode rows. Keep the "unrelated form" row only if you want an explicit check that non-OpenCode-shaped forms still use the generic mapping.
As per path instructions: "Hold changed tests to the rules in docs/internals/testing.md." That document says to test at the lowest layer that fails on main and not to repeat the case in a wrapper test.

ran vp i and a background vp run dev on github/main (15fe283272) in a separate worktree, stopped that server, then installed and ran the exact pr head with isolated state. drove both web clients with the repo's playwright and /usr/bin/google-chrome. added the real git project and provider through the app. all question scenarios used live opencode 2.1.4 over local acp with gpt-6.1-sol through the local proxy, without mocks or replay.
main reproduced the bug: one question became q0 and q0_custom, both with empty options. the card showed 1/2 and no selectable colors.
the pr showed one question with red/blue choices and custom input. selecting blue returned Blue from the provider.
typing green with silver stripes returned that exact text from the provider.
live multi-select kept red and blue selected together and returned Red, Blue.
stopping a pending question persisted it as cancelled. the same thread then returned RECOVERED_AFTER_CANCEL on a follow-up turn.
separate native codex-provider turns using gpt-6.1-sol completed on main and the pr; the pr returned CODEX_PR_LIVE_OK.
blacksmith checks passed: all 13 opencode parser tests and all 9 registry elicitation adapter cases. the tested head also has 29 successful ci checks, zero failing or pending. inspected the screenshots and played and sought through the uploaded 10-second recording.
native electron, ios/android, macos/windows, relay/tunnel connections, attachment answers, and registry-managed opencode installation were not exercised. the live acp path used the local-command option. the live provider used identical choice labels and values, so distinct value/label collisions remain covered by the existing automated tests. no separate generator-level regression test was added; this pass made no code changes.
…ed schemas
Extract the testable schema transform pipeline (collectSchemaEntries,
mapSubschemas, normalizeSchemaKeywords, flattenCompositions,
generateSchemaOutput) from scripts/generate.ts into scripts/schemaTransform.ts
and add a generator-level regression test: a schema schema containing a
property named anyOf survives the traversal and generates a real property
instead of Schema.Never. The checked-in generated schemas and the replay
test are not used as fixtures.
Co-authored-by: factory-droid[bot] <138933559+factory-droid[bot]@users.noreply.github.com>
Keep one test layer for the anyOf property regression.
Both tests check the same regression: a property named anyOf must stay a property name.
The first test checks it at the normalizeSchemaKeywords / flattenCompositions layer.
The second test runs the same fixture through generateSchemaOutput, which wraps those same functions.
The testing rules require one test layer: the lowest one that fails on main. Both tests fail on main, so the second test only repeats the first one in a wrapper.
Fix: keep one test. Option A: keep the lowest-layer test and delete the wrapper test. Option B: keep only the generateSchemaOutput test, because it checks the reported Schema.Never symptom directly. Remove the other test either way.
As per coding guidelines: "Test at one layer: the lowest one that fails on main. Do not repeat the case in a wrapper test, at each call site, or in web and mobile copies of the same logic."
♻️ Proposed fix (Option A: keep the lowest-layer test)
If you apply this option, also remove the unused generateSchemaOutput import.

Problem
OpenCode 2.1.4 asks its
questiontool through ACP as an elicitation form. For a question with choices and a free-form answer it sends two properties:qN—type: "string",title= question header, description= question text, choices inoneOf: [{ const, title, description }], optionaldefault;qN_custom—type: "string",description: "Type your own answer"(or"Add your own answer"for multi-select).The generic ACP mapping only reads
enum, and turns every property into its own question. So the card shows1/2with no choices at all: step 1 is the question without options, step 2 isType your own answer.Stored request before this change:
