Compact chip looks the same after switching to Keep when the composer is narrow #29974

Description

What happened

With a file open in a wide right panel, clicking the Compact chip to keep the full history didn't visibly change the chip. After I closed the right panel, it showed Keep.

Diagnosis

The click works: the next send switches to Keep, and the send button's label changes from "Compact and send" to "Submit message". The chip doesn't show it.

Since #27033, the chip hides its Compact or Keep label when the composer is narrower than 480px, leaving the icon and the token count. The icon is the same in both states. The only other cue is a faint pressed background, which the hover background covers, and the tooltip closes on click. On a 1512px-wide window with a 242px sidebar, a right panel wider than about 700px puts the composer under 480px.

Before the redesign in #24865, the two states also differed in color: Compact used the warning color for its border, text and icon, and Full used a gray border and muted text. The redesign gave both the same styling, which left the label as the only clear difference.

The chip is in apps/web/src/components/chat/ComposerPrimaryActions.tsx. A separate icon for Keep would fix it, for example arrows pointing out, the pair the right panel's Maximize panel button already uses. Web and desktop share this code. The mobile app has no Compact chip.

Separately, docs/user/providers-claude.md says the chip switches to Full. The chip says Keep.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a Claude thread with more than 200,000 tokens of context after its prompt cache has expired, with Compact idle threads at its default, When you return. The composer shows "Compact 549k" next to the send button.
  2. Open the right panel, choose Files, and open a file.
  3. Widen the right panel until the chip shows only its icon and token count. On a 1512px-wide window with a 242px sidebar, that's past about 700px.
  4. Click the chip. It looks the same.
  5. Close the right panel. The chip reads "Keep 549k".
