Pipeline controller notification
This repo is configured to use the pipeline controller. Second-stage tests will be triggered either automatically or after lgtm label is added, depending on the repository configuration. The pipeline controller will automatically detect which contexts are required and will utilize /test Prow commands to trigger the second stage.

For optional jobs, comment /test ? to see a list of all defined jobs. To trigger manually all jobs from second stage use /pipeline required command.

This repository is configured in: LGTM mode

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 0.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 1 functions across 1 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)

Full details: Stable And Deterministic Test Names

Explanation

PASS: The pull request adds five literal, static YAML test names. The suite generator uses each Name as a Ginkgo DescribeTable entry title. The changed files add no It, Describe, Context, or When title with runtime values, generated identifiers, timestamps, node names, namespaces, or IP addresses. The replica limit 10 is a fixed API contract, not run-time data.

Full details: Test Structure And Quality

Explanation

The pull request adds declarative API test cases, not hand-written Ginkgo blocks. Each new case checks one behavior: valid replicas, the maximum, invalid bounds, or preservation of advancedOverrides. The shared generator already provides BeforeEach and AfterEach hooks and deletes CRD instances after each test, including the cluster-scoped ExternalSecretsConfig resource. The pull request adds no Eventually or Consistently call and no new assertion code. Existing generic assertions and waits are unchanged.

Full details: Microshift Test Compatibility

Explanation

The pull request adds no new Ginkgo e2e test files or constructs. Its test changes are declarative cases in api/v1alpha1/tests/...testsuite.yaml, executed by the existing test/apis envtest API integration harness. The added cases validate the repository's own ExternalSecretsConfig CRD and do not add MicroShift-incompatible e2e API usage or platform assumptions.

Full details: Single Node Openshift (Sno) Test Compatibility

Explanation

No new Ginkgo e2e test was added. The PR changes one API test-suite YAML file, and the diff contains no *_test.go or test/e2e file. The YAML cases run through the API envtest generator, which creates and reads ExternalSecretsConfig objects. The podAntiAffinity content is only a preserved API object field; the tests do not schedule pods or require multiple nodes. Replica cases validate API values and do not test HA or leader-election failover.

Full details: Topology-Aware Scheduling Compatibility

Explanation

PASS: The PR changes only API types, generated deepcopy code, CRD schemas, documentation, and validation tests. The exact diff contains no Deployment manifest, controller, or operator implementation changes. No node selectors, affinities, topology spread constraints, tolerations, PDBs, or rolling-update settings are introduced. The added test uses required pod anti-affinity, but it does not set maxUnavailable: 0 and does not create a production Deployment constraint. The new replica field is not derived from node count, and the new raw field has no consumer in the changed code.

Full details: Ote Binary Stdout Contract

Explanation

PASS: The pull request changes only API types, generated deepcopy code, CRD schemas, documentation, and YAML validation cases. No changed lines add or modify main(), init(), TestMain(), suite setup, RunSpecs(), or other process-level output paths. The added Go lines contain no fmt.Print*, log.Print*, klog, os.Stdout, or Ginkgo warning/log calls.

Full details: Ipv6 And Disconnected Network Test Compatibility

Explanation

PASS — The pull request adds no Ginkgo e2e test code. It updates an API test-suite YAML file that the repository runs through envtest, a local control plane. The added cases create only ExternalSecretsConfig objects and use no IPv4 addresses, IP parsing, network policies, URLs, public hosts, image pulls, DNS lookups, or external services. The changed file set contains no new It(), Describe(), Context(), or When() test definitions.

Full details: No-Weak-Crypto

Explanation

PASS. The PR-range diff adds API schema fields, deepcopy support, generated CRD/docs content, and replica validation tests. The only crypto-related addition is the Kubernetes runtime import required by runtime.RawExtension; no MD5, SHA1, DES, RC4, Blowfish, ECB, custom crypto, or secret/token comparison was added.

Full details: Container-Privileges

Explanation

PASS: The pull-request diff adds API fields, CRD schema, deepcopy code, documentation, and validation tests. No changed line introduces privileged: true, hostPID, hostNetwork, hostIPC, SYS_ADMIN, allowPrivilegeEscalation: true, or an unjustified root setting. Existing generated Deployment security settings remain unchanged and set allowPrivilegeEscalation: false and runAsNonRoot: true.

Full details: No-Sensitive-Data-In-Logs

Explanation

PASS: The pull request changes only API types, generated deepcopy code, CRD schemas, validation fixtures, and documentation. The added AdvancedOverrides field uses runtime.RawExtension, but the diff adds no logging, printing, serialization-to-log, or error/event messages that include its contents or other sensitive data. The existing deployment code is unchanged and does not consume or log this field.

Wire ControllerConfig.Replicas and ControllerConfig.Concurrent into the core controller Deployment. The renderer hard-codes --concurrent=1 and the embedded Deployment has replicas: 1, so configured values are ignored. Retain 1 when either field is omitted.

Remove or implement AdvancedOverrides.

AdvancedOverrides is accepted by the CRD, but applyUserDeploymentConfigs never reads it. Configured patches are silently ignored. If implemented, validate patch paths with an allow-list before applying them.

Summary

  • Adds ExternalSecretsConfig API fields for core controller scale and throughput:
  • spec.controllerConfig.concurrent (*int32, min 1 / max 100) for --concurrent=<N>
  • spec.controllerConfig.replicas (*int32, min 1 / max 10) for core controller Deployment replicas
  • Adds spec.controllerConfig.componentConfigs[].experimentalOverrides (*runtime.RawExtension)
  • Regenerates deepcopy, CRDs (config + bundle), and API reference docs; adds CRD validation tests for the new fields
Implements the API surface from openshift/enhancements#2068 (ESO-540/ESO-550).

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
  • Added configurable component deployment replicas from 1–10, defaulting to one.
  • Enabled leader election when running multiple core-controller replicas.
  • Added advanced deployment overrides for settings such as pod anti-affinity.
  • Validation
  • Added safeguards for invalid replica values and protected structural container, init-container, and port settings.
  • Documentation
  • Updated the API reference and configuration schema with supported fields, defaults, limits, and override restrictions.

Apply DeploymentConfig.Replicas during deployment reconciliation.

The current applyUserDeploymentConfigs implementation does not read DeploymentConfigs.Replicas. Valid values therefore leave the generated Deployment replica count unchanged, and the documented leader-election behavior for ExternalSecretsCoreController never activates. Set deployment.Spec.Replicas from this field and preserve the default of 1 when the pointer is nil.
