Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Added persistent Flow State and deduplication across runs, with separate Draft and Live scopes.
Added a “Remove Duplicates” task with new-item and increasing-value modes.
Added Workbench controls to view and clear state and deduplication history, including confirmation before clearing Live data.
Added HTTP API, MCP, and CLI commands for managing Flow State.
Added configurable state capacity limits.
Documentation
Documented Flow State behavior, deduplication, limits, and runtime compatibility.
Walkthrough
This change adds persistent Flow State for Draft and Live runs. Code Tasks can read and write JSON values and use deduplication capabilities. Flows can add managed dedupe tasks with node- or Flow-scoped history. The Server stores state, applies configured limits, and exposes read and clear operations through the Control API and MCP. The CLI and Workbench add state-management controls. Engine and Flow model contracts advance, and the change adds migrations, tests, lab coverage, and documentation. The Code HTTP-host editor also changes to a dialog with explicit Save and Cancel actions.

The Workbench can show or clear the wrong Live deduplication history when the Draft and published node use different spaces. Clearing the shared space could make other Live nodes reprocess items. Fix this before merge. The missing no-store header and several documentation inaccuracies are low-impact cleanups.

packages/open-flow/src/control/common/authoringSchema.ts:289 Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Expose dedupe error handling in flow_schema.
When a caller requests the new dedupe schema, onError is false because this condition checks only retryNodeTypes. Dedupe supports onError: 'error' without supporting retries. The schema therefore hides the supported way to handle dedupe.full from CLI and MCP authors. Include dedupe in the onError condition, but leave retry disabled. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Review comment at @packages/open-flow/src/control/common/authoringSchema.ts at
line 289:
Update the onError condition in the flow schema to include dedupe alongside
retryNodeTypes, so dedupe exposes its supported error option. Keep retry
handling disabled for dedupe.
Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
Replace the hardcoded 'open-flow-engine/v10' check with the engine contract's flowState flag.
EngineContract.flowState already defines which engines support State. The guest also uses it to remove state and dedupe in compileProgram. This host check duplicates that rule with a string literal. Two things then go wrong:
When a later engine contract (for example v11) inherits flowState: true, the guest exposes context.state. This check still rejects every State call with capability.denied.
The two checks can drift apart.
Derive the check from the contract resolved for run.engineContract.
♻️ Proposed change
- if (run.engineContract !== 'open-flow-engine/v10' || node?.kind !== 'task' || !('moduleId' in node.task))- throw new StateError('capability.denied', 'State requires an Engine v10 Code Task.')+ if (findEngineContract(run.engineContract)?.flowState !== true || node?.kind !== 'task' || !('moduleId' in node.task))+ throw new StateError('capability.denied', 'State requires a Flow State-capable Engine and a Code Task.')
Import findEngineContract from the same module that isolated-vm-executor.ts uses. If run.ts does not already import it, add the import.

Addressed the two additional findings in review 5711168081 in f7678e6: dedupe authoring now advertises onError independently of retries, with creation/read/round-trip regression coverage and updated authoring documentation; Server state capability admission now uses the shared EngineContract.flowState flag instead of a fixed engine version string.
Validation: root bun run check passed; public package suite 243 files / 3020 tests passed; Server Flow State suite 16 tests passed; CLI and MCP flow-state Lab reference scenarios passed; public npm package, Browser runtime, and bundled CLI consumer verification passed.

Replace the retired byte-accounting rule.
Line 222 says to count keys and fixed row overhead as stored bytes. The new limit measures each value’s serialized JSON in UTF-8 bytes, and Line 240 removes the total-byte quota. Update this rule so the pending Cloud implementation does not apply a different limit.

Wait for pending capability calls before completing the Code Task.
context.dedupe.insert can pass the initial invocation check, remain suspended in hashIdentities(ids), and continue after the Code Task returns. The executor does not wait for capability promises before emitting the Task result, and the parent bridge does not cancel calls when an individual Task finishes. The later active() check only verifies that the Run is still running. Therefore, the stale call can reserve and insert dedupe history after a downstream Task starts, which can change that Task's dedupe result or suppress the same item in a later Run.

Review comment at @apps/server/node/application/run-state.ts around lines 58 -
65:
Ensure Code Task completion waits for pending capability calls to settle before
emitting the Task result. In the dedupe.insert path around hashIdentities, let
the existing active check and store.insert finish before downstream Tasks begin,
so a suspended call cannot write dedupe history after completion.
