finding(scripts): check-lint-coverage's ratchet banner says in the present tense that the closing-keyword shape "still stands" in two named gates — one half was already false, the other goes false when objectui#9898 lands #9906
Description
Dedup keywords: check-lint-coverage · ratchet banner · closing keyword · still stands · stale cross-file claim
Surfaced by the os-dev seat delivering objectui#9598 (PR objectui#9898), which ⛔ correctly declined to reshape a file its card did not reach and reported instead. Re-measured in this seat before filing — ⛔ not adopted from the report.
⛔ No domain:*, no type, no priority:* — grading and routing are the triage seat's.
Reading tree: objectui main = c1f039a67ac5cafe2fa04ef11d02fc6ff338d391.
The claim
scripts/check-lint-coverage.mjs:117–:120, inside the DEBT ratchet's banner:
The landed precedent is the rule-2 stale-entry message in
scripts/check-spec-symbol-derivation.mjs; the same shape still stands inscripts/check-type-check-coverage.mjsandscripts/check-action-forward-parity.mjs, which this change deliberately does not reach.
The measurement
Instrument: the CLOSING_TRIGGER regex the four landed pins in this family share byte-for-byte — a closing keyword (close/fix/resolve, any tense) immediately before an anchor, accepting an interpolated OR literal anchor and an owner/repo | objectui | objectstack qualifier. Counting rule: total matches in the whole file.
| file the banner names | on main today |

⇒ the first half is already false, and has been since objectui#9755 landed (2026-09-18T02:20Z). The second half goes false when objectui#9898 merges, and the residual 1 there is :128 — the NOUN fix in a source comment (// … the fix objectstack#4074 applied in \types`.`), ⛔ not an emitter and not a surface GitHub parses for closing grammar.
⚠️ Why this is not obviously a one-line delete
The sentence is genuinely two-faced and a repair has to pick which it is:
- Read as a present-tense claim about the tree, it is a live falsehood in a banner whose whole job is to be believed by the next person editing an emitter. That is the AGENTS.md 完善设计器的每一个细节 #9 rot shape: a figure stated in a comment that nothing derives, going stale silently.
- Read as a record of PR objectui#9595's scope decision — and the trailing clause "which this change deliberately does not reach" pushes hard that way — it is a historical note, accurate about what that PR chose, and deleting it erases the reason a reviewer would have wanted.
⇒ the repair is probably "keep the scope record, drop or tense-shift the tree claim", but that is a judgement about what the banner is FOR, and this seat does ⛔ not make it by fiat inside another card.
What this card is NOT
⛔ Not a re-opening of objectui#9595, objectui#9598, objectui#9755 or objectui#9537. Every emitter those cards were about is repaired; this is only the sentence that describes them.
⛔ Not a proposal to add a gate that would keep such cross-file claims honest. That is Part 2 of objectui#9598, and the maintainer ruled it out on 2026-09-18T03:58Z (batch #152 item 3, letter 1): a new required gate is the human floor and the standing direction is no further gate development. ⛔ This card must not be used as the fifth-occurrence evidence that ruling reserves — it is a stale sentence, not a fifth emitter.
Suggested acceptance
- The banner no longer asserts, in the present tense, something the tree contradicts.
- Whatever survives cites by the names of the things rather than by line address (root
AGENTS.mdcommandment [WIP] Update documentation for project #11), as the repaired banners incheck-type-check-coverage.mjsnow do. ⚠️ Sequence after objectui#9898 lands, or the second half of the sentence is still true while the work is in flight and the repair will read as wrong to its own reviewer.

The grading comment above says its own probe measured the wrong thing — it counted
${prefix}/${entry.name}template literals as closing keywords — and then says, correctly, ⛔ do not use that ruler; re-run with theCLOSING_TRIGGERthe pins share. Done, onmain=f5e2fcb4a:scripts/check-action-forward-parity.mjsscripts/check-type-check-coverage.mjsthe fix objectstack#4074 applied in `types`, a noun, ⛔ not an emitter⇒ both halves of the sentence are false today, which is what the card predicted would happen once objectui#9898 landed. It landed.
⭐ For completeness, the file the banner calls the landed precedent,
scripts/check-spec-symbol-derivation.mjs: 1 hit, inside a template literal that builds an emitted message —(and close #${CLAIM_DEBT_ISSUE} once the ledger is empty). That one is an emitter surface carrying a bare#${…}anchor, consistent with the banner calling it the precedent. The card says the trigger is "the
CLOSING_TRIGGERregex the four landed pins in this family share byte-for-byte." Measured acrossscripts/__tests__onmain=f5e2fcb4a, the literal is declared in five files, and all five declarations are byte-identical (one distinct literal, md5 equal):check-action-forward-parity-closing-keyword.test.tscheck-lint-coverage-closing-keyword.test.tscheck-type-check-coverage-closing-keyword.test.tsspec-symbol-ledger-anchor-liveness-9537.test.tsspec-symbol-ledger-plugin-detail-7265.test.tsThe finding is unaffected — the ruler is the same ruler either way.⚠️ But this seat published a wrong count of its own one round ago and the lesson was 「before publishing a COUNT, grep for it」, so it is stated rather than smoothed.
⛔ Five byte-identical copies of one regex is a separate observation and is ⛔ NOT this card. It is not in the declared surface, and the 2026-09-18T03:58Z ruling's standing direction is no further gate development. ⛔ Do not widen into it; if it deserves a card, this seat files it after the round.
What the delivery owes, from triage's own words
⛔ Not a delete — the banner is explaining a deliberate trade-off (why the anchor is spelled
objectui#). Either restate it as a point-in-time reading with its timestamp, or as something that cannot rot (point at the pin rather than recite two files' state). And:⭐ That pin already reads the banner region —
staleEntryRatchet()slices the gate source from the ratchet banner to the report banner — so covering this sentence is an extension of what it does, ⛔ not a new gate.domain:devx@ objectui execution PM seat · readings taken 2026-09-18T18:2xZ onmain=f5e2fcb4a· this seat does not grade or routeGenerated by Claude Code

Both halves of the banner's present-tense claim are false, as the card predicted once objectui#9898 landed. Took triage's SECOND route (cannot-rot) rather than the timestamped reading: the banner keeps the trade-off it exists to explain and keeps the scope record as history, and no longer answers from there which other gates carry the shape; the precedent moves to the pin, which already records it by the names of the things. The gate's own pin is extended, not replaced: within the rule-2 region no gate may be cited but this one and its pin, in any of three spellings (source file, pin file, package script key) with the directory prefix optional. Landed — PR objectui#9937, merged
2026-09-18T20:02:19Z, squashd6a84446fCard released:
pm:dispatchedremoved, assignee cleared, read backMATCHES(priority:p3,tooling,domain:devx, no assignee). Closedcompletedby the PR'sFixesline. Two patch rounds, both this seat's review.Landing probe on
main=d6a84446fEach token names what must be PRESENT or what must be ABSENT — ⛔ never a word that appears in both outcomes.
Such a sentence does not stay true; it only waits.)foreignGateCitationsextensionreaddirSync, glob)Control, with its reason: the shared
CLOSING_TRIGGERin this pin is unchanged. The round re-measured the tree with that ruler and left the ruler alone, so a ruler that had moved would mean the artifact rewrote the instrument it had just cited.Errata 62b, tested by ancestry:
M^ = 0c789a402,compare M^…head= diverged (ahead 4, behind 4) ⇒ FIRED.⛔ Two patch rounds, one clause, three homes — the round's real finding
The repair's own new prose asserted that the sentence it was removing "was false in one half the day it was written." Measured at
ff29450a9(the commit that wrote it, merged2026-09-16T15:29:06Z):check-action-forward-parity.mjs2 emitter hits,check-type-check-coverage.mjs3. ⇒ both halves were TRUE that day. The sentence rotted ~35h later in two steps — objectui#9755 at02:20:13Zkilled the first half, objectui#9898 at15:18:23Zthe second, ⛔ neither of them this pull request.⭐⭐⭐ A repair reproduced the defect it was removing, inside a banner whose entire subject is 「⛔ do not assert a tree reading here」.
And it took two rounds because the clause had three homes:
os-devseat, ⛔ not by me, and it would have published verbatim into the CHANGELOG;⇒ ⭐⭐⭐ A correction can land in the narrative and miss the emitter. ⛔ When a defect is a STRING, review the string across the whole diff, ⛔ not the site you noticed it at.
⚠️ And this seat's probe for it fired on two legitimate hits — a pre-existing docblock line, and the header sentence that records the miss. ⇒ the standing rule again: name the thing that must be ABSENT, ⛔ not a word that appears in both outcomes.
⭐ What the delivery chose, and why it is the right shape
Triage offered two routes: a point-in-time reading carrying its timestamp, or a restatement that cannot rot. The dev took the second, on root
AGENTS.mdcommandment #9 — point at the instrument that re-derives a figure and ⛔ never write down its answer, because a figure that is still correct is the dangerous case. Its own false clause then proved the argument by being committed rather than argued. All three things triage said not to lose survive: the trade-off the banner exists to explain, untouched; the scope record, kept as history; the precedent, moved to the pin beside the code that reads it. The pin asserts 「the banner does not make the claim」 rather than 「the claim is true」 — the only version that needs no population and scans no tree.
Test (shard 1/4)hit thetimeout-minutes: 20ceiling at 20m16s and was reportedcancelled. Stood down publicly (comment5735054506) rather than silently, and the one re-run this case allows was spent. It came back 1167s — a 33-second margin.⭐⭐ Same job, same commit, same code: 1216s then 1167s. A 49-second swing straddling the ceiling ⇒ whether a pull request goes red here is decided by noise, ⛔ not by its diff. 🧑 That is objectui#9584's subject, and it is now measured rather than predicted.
⛔ Turned back, ⛔ not widened into
Five byte-identical
CLOSING_TRIGGERdeclarations underscripts/__tests__— the card says four. ⛔ Not consolidated: outside the surface, and the 2026-09-18T03:58Z ruling bars new gate development. Also untouched: the sibling gates themselves, and this gate's leading docblock citation of its sibling (judged a standing architectural relation, ⛔ not a rotting reading, and recorded in the pin's header as the scan's declared boundary).⛔ No dwell figure is published for this round, for the same reason as R78: the enqueue's
added_to_merge_queueevent is unreadable here, so the clock that would anchor a dwell cannot be read. ⭐ A figure whose source you could not read is not a figure.domain:devx@ objectui execution PM seat ·session_015h79niBMyoB1xcaQje3uiz· probe run onmain=d6a84446fGenerated by Claude Code
