finding(devx): the per-file ref removes the structural blocker that kept check-bash32-floor.mjs and the ported .claude/hooks/** files out of the port pin — and their stale rationale now describes a field that no longer exists #8385
Blocked-by: objectui#8288 (must land first — this is only actionable once the per-file ref exists)
What is stale
scripts/check-bash32-floor.mjs carries a ~40-line section, ## Why this port is not pinned in scripts/upstream-port-pin.json, whose whole argument rests on a field that #8288 removes. It says, quoting the file:
Read off the pin's own schema and check-upstream-port-parity.mjs: the ref is a SINGLE GLOBAL field (pin.upstream.ref), one per pin and not one per file, and --resync rewrites it for the whole ledger (pin.upstream.ref = ref;). The ledger currently names bf10deb. This port was taken from 6136293.
The section then enumerates two options and rejects both, and rejects a third as the one that must not be taken. All three were consequences of the single global ref. The real conclusion it records is the one that matters:
Consequence, stated so it is inherited rather than rediscovered: this file has NO drift gate.
What is now possible
Both blocked registrations were blocked by the same structural fact, and both are unblocked:
scripts/check-bash32-floor.mjs — taken from objectstack 6136293. It can now be registered at its OWN ref without disturbing any other entry, so neither of the two rejected options (ship a weaker construct table, or force a re-sync of all three pinned files) is needed any more.
objectui#7953 (closed) recorded the same gap from the other direction: two ported .claude/hooks/** files do not exist upstream at the then-global ref at all, so the ledger could not reach them. A per-file ref reaches them.
Out of scope by that card's own file surface, and correctly so: registering a port is not a schema change. Each registration needs its upstream blob read at a named ref, its digest computed, and its divergences declared as exact text pairs with a stated why — real per-file work with its own review surface, and for the hooks files it also crosses GOVERNED surface (.claude/**), which --resync refuses to rewrite without the long-form flag.
Suggested shape
Correct the rationale section in scripts/check-bash32-floor.mjs — at minimum it must stop describing a retired field as the blocker.
Register check-bash32-floor.mjs at 6136293, with its divergences declared.
Re-triage objectui#7953's seven hook files against a per-file ref, deciding registration per file rather than as one all-or-nothing batch.
Each can be a separate card; they are grouped here because they share one cause.
Filed by the os-dev seat working objectui#8288, as an out-of-scope finding. No assignee.

⭐ 卡里最值得保留的一句:那段散文的陈旧本身就是它所描述的缺陷的实例
"The ledger currently names bf10deb" was ALREADY stale before #8288: objectui#7749 moved the global ref to 70e77ec3b. That staleness is itself an instance of the bug #8288 fixes — one global field that every re-sync silently rewrote out from under the prose describing it.

Why this card, and its blocker is measured CLEAR
The card's body carries Blocked-by: objectui#8288 (must land first). ⭐ Satisfied: triage read objectui#8288 closed / completed at 2026-09-07T16:03:20Z, PR objectui#8386 merged, and verified the retirement landed on origin/main.
⇒ ⭐ the card is no longer "will go stale" — it is wrong NOW, and in the worst way: its whole argument rests on pin.upstream.ref, a field validatePin now actively refuses. A reader following that prose goes looking for something that would be rejected if written.
⛔ Scope: item 1 ONLY
Triage narrowed it — items 2 and 3 are split out. ⛔ The taker does not touch them.
⚠️ The hard requirement, and the reason for it
⛔ Do not write any ref into the rewritten prose. Point at the pin file itself, which now carries a per-file ref.
⭐ Because that section has already gone stale twice by the same mechanism: objectui#7749 moved the global ref out from under it before objectui#8288 retired the field entirely. ⇒ "That staleness is itself an instance of the bug objectui#8288 fixes — one global field that every re-sync silently rewrote out from under the prose describing it."⚠️ Restating a concrete SHA would make it stale a third time.
Concurrency and file surface
Three in flight (batch:3); this card owns scripts/check-bash32-floor.mjs's docblock and nothing else.
One os-dev subagent (mode:subagent, model: opus), branch claude/issue-8385-bash32-floor-port-rationale, worktree /home/user/objectui-issue-8385. Three in flight (batch:3), surfaces pairwise disjoint.
Adjudication section
⛔ No maintainer ruling applies. The constraints are the card's and triage's (5582520495).
⛔ Scope: item 1 ONLY
Triage narrowed it; items 2 and 3 are split out. ⛔ The dev does not touch them, and if one looks trivially adjacent it reports rather than doing it.
⚠️ The hard requirement, and why it exists
⛔ No concrete ref/SHA in the rewritten prose — point at the pin file, which now carries a per-fileref.
⭐ That section has already gone stale twice by the same mechanism: objectui#7749 moved the global ref out from under it before objectui#8288 retired the field. ⇒ ⚠️ restating a SHA would make it stale a third time — in the very paragraph explaining that mechanism.
Preconditions falsified against the tree first
⚠️Anchored on text, ⛔ not line numbers (triage flagged the drift): objectui#8288's retirement is really landed and validatePin really refuses the field · the stale section still exists · ⛔ each false clause enumerated individually, not as a block · what the per-file ref looks like today · ⚠️whether the pin blocker is in fact gone — ⛔ do not pin anything (ledger change, out of scope), but the new prose must state that fact correctly.
⭐ The trap that is unusually live here
⚠️ A whole-file grep can hit the docblock that quotes what you are hunting — and on this card the text being searched IS prose about the thing. The PM seat hit both variants of that trap on landing probes today.

⭐ LANDED — PR #8697, merged 6621cf39b at 2026-09-09T00:57:39Z
Probe run verbatim from the Armed note against a re-fetched origin/main (5ece49bbc), 01:20Z. Full reading on the PR: #8697 (comment)
✅ heading at :162 reads not YET pinned;
✅ 0 SHA-like tokens inside the section (:162–:214); the file's 4 remaining SHA-carrying lines sit at :8, :41, :223, :1382, all outside it;
✅ firing control: the same pattern found 11 SHA-carrying lines on the pre-merge blob — the number this card's Armed note recorded — and still finds 4 elsewhere post-merge, so the zero is a reading and not a dead pattern;
✅ scripts/upstream-port-pin.json unchanged (0-line diff across the merge commit) — ⛔ this card fixed prose, it did not pin;
✅ nonsense control exits 1.
⭐ Beyond the ask: the repaired section now carries ⛔ Do not write a revision into this prose at :191, with both prior staleness events named (objectui#7749 moved the global ref out from under the sentence; objectui#8288 deleted the field it named). The cause is written where the next author meets it.
⚠️Still unpinned, and that is the card's own consequence, stated so it is inherited: until registration lands, check-bash32-floor.mjs has no drift gate — upstream CONSTRUCTS improvements reach this repo only by hand. objectui#8288 removed the structural blocker; what remains is ordinary per-file work (read the upstream blob at a named ref, compute its SHA-256, declare each divergence as an upstream/ported pair with a why). ⇒ that is a separate card's subject, not this one's.
Stripping pm:dispatched and the assignee in one write.

For the .claude/hooks/** half the blocker is likewise gone (a per-file ref can name a revision where each file exists, and one governed entry is ALREADY in the ledger), with one residual cost, not a blocker: `.claude/**` IS governed (`governedPathsIn` returns the claude-tree surface), so --resync refuses to write without --rewrite-governed-file. ⛔ NOTHING WAS PINNED - the ledger is not in the diff." }, "clauses_found_false": [ "'the ref is a SINGLE GLOBAL field (`pin.upstream.ref`), one per pin and not one per file' -> FALSE.
