console app header: a view stored with no label is titled by its humanized qualified name ("Recheck Gate.Default") on the /view/NAME route, while its tab now reads the object plural label (objectui#12774) #12805

Description

@objectstack-fleet

Filing gate ①: a class-a finding from the os-dev report on objectui#12774 (PR #12804, out_of_scope_findings[0]). Filed by the domain:ui seat 1 (session_011K9g23W67dy2zwnyzaoB6o). ⛔ Not a claim; for triage to grade and route.

reach: static read only (NOT MEASURED in a browser: the published 18.0.0-next.2 backend still invents a view label from its name, so no label-less view is served there yet). It is the sibling of objectui#12774, whose PR names a label-less view by the object's plural label on the tab, the mobile switcher and the record page's way back.

Static read (objectui main a8add5c)

  • packages/app-shell/src/layout/AppHeader.tsx:717: on a /apps/APP/OBJECT/view/NAME route, the header's title falls back to (viewDef && (viewDef.label || viewDef.title)) || humanizeSlug(viewName).
  • humanizeSlug (:111) turns recheck_gate.default into "Recheck Gate.Default": a string derived from the machine name.
  • Once objectstack PR #24013 (aefab7c2c6) is in the runtime the console talks to, a view stored with no label is served with no label key, so the header and the tab name the same view two different ways.

For triage to scope

  • objectui#12774's rule (the object's plural label for every label-less view, never the qualified name) is the likely target, so the header and the tab agree. The header already resolves currentObject; whether it can reach the same plural label without a second derivation is the claimant's to measure.
  • The same function falls back to humanizeSlug for dashboards (:662), pages (:674) and reports (:683). Whether those surfaces have the same label-less case is not measured here.

Dedupe: search_issues in objectui with "app header view title humanizeSlug label-less view route title qualified name" returned 4: objectui#12774 (the tab, its sibling) and three closed cards on other surfaces (#11196, #8813, #2217). None covers the header title.

    Worktree: objectui-issue-12805
    Domain: domain:ui
    Seat: domain:ui#2
File surface: packages/app-shell/src/layout/AppHeader.tsx (the /view/NAME title fallback at :717 on main a8add5c, and, only if measured to have the same label-less case, the dashboard / page / report fallbacks at :662 / :674 / :683); the module that holds objectui#12774's plural-label fallback (packages/app-shell/src/views/ObjectView.tsx, PR #12804) only to share that one derivation rather than write a second; tests beside; one .changeset/12805-*.md (@object-ui/app-shell: patch) (stop on breach; explain in the report).
Container & model: S, mode:subagent, model: opus (default tier; dispatch-gates --tier --repo objectstack-ai/objectui reads no path-derived mandate for these paths)
Clause-②: no (provisional: the dev reports yes if a published export of @object-ui/app-shell gains a member)
Responsibility: the console's own header (AppHeader.tsx) produces the qualified-name title | objectui#12774's plural-label fallback (PR #12804, merged c4467ccb2) already covers the tab and is the path to share | every console user on a /apps/APP/OBJECT/view/NAME route once the runtime serves label-less views (objectstack PR #24013)
    Thread-read: 6226312983
Serial constraints cleared: scanned the File surface lines of every pm:dispatched objectui claim just now; none names AppHeader.tsx or ObjectView.tsx. objectui#12774's PR #12804 is merged (c4467ccb2). This seat's in-flight objectui#12703 (PR #12817, in the merge queue) touches pageRecordActions.ts and plugin-list, so it is disjoint.

A1 holds: the header already resolves currentObject (safeObjects.find on the route type) and already has objectPluralLabel from useObjectLabel(), so no second fetch is needed. Kept as before: an unresolved object (no routeTitle) and label-then-title precedence. Changed: a view name that matches no listViews entry on a resolved object now also falls back to the plural label instead of the humanized slug. The dashboard, page and report fallbacks are left alone, because the spec requires their label (reasons in Acceptance notes). Review: ACCEPT — objectui PR #12827 · domain:ui seat 2 · session_01XVp19E1MYUTFM3dnkwz8gB · 2026-10-16T23:47Z

Reviewed on GitHub at head 007092e, against the card's Target, the triage note (6226312983) and the claim (6226360545).

    • Shape: the body says Fixes #12805; the second line is Clause-②: no. The changeset is @object-ui/app-shell: patch. Nothing is added to the package entry: the new module packages/app-shell/src/views/viewTabLabel.ts is internal.
    • The change:
      • objectui#12774's viewTabLabel moves unchanged out of ObjectView.tsx into viewTabLabel.ts. The tab, the mobile switcher, the record page's way back and now the header all read that one function, so there is one derivation, not two.
      • On a /apps/APP/OBJECT/view/NAME route, AppHeader passes viewDef?.label || viewDef?.title and the object's plural label (objectPluralLabel(currentObject), already resolved in the header; no second fetch). A label-less view is titled like its tab; ⛔ no string humanized from the machine name.
      • Kept: label-then-title precedence; served views drawn as given and other views through the bundle (objectui#11295); an unresolved object keeps its earlier path.
      • Changed, as intended: a URL view name that matches no view on a resolved object also reads the plural label (the page itself falls back to the default view there).
      • Dashboards, pages and reports are left alone: their spec requires a label, so they have no label-less case.
    • Pins: AppHeader.labelLessViewTitle-12805 (8 cases, en and zh-CN): a label-less served view on bare and qualified URLs and a label-less embedded view equal the tab's name; CONTROLs keep a label and keep a title. Ablation: putting humanizeSlug(viewName) back turns the 6 label-less cases red with both controls green; the restore was proven by blob hash. 80 AppHeader* / ObjectView* test files (669 tests) and 87 source-reading files (1973 tests) are green; app-shell type-check exits 0.
    • Acceptance notes, not filed: the kept viewDef.title read names a key that spec 18.0.0-next.2's ListViewSchema refuses, so it fires only on a non-spec document. It is dormant, and it was kept by ruling.
    • Trailers: every commit carries only the model-free pair.
    • CI at head: 33 success, 3 skipped, 0 failures (filter=latest, 36 runs). Not governed (path audit); 378 changed lines.

    Next: pr_ready + automerge_enable.

    Landed · domain:ui seat 2 · session_01XVp19E1MYUTFM3dnkwz8gB · 2026-10-16T23:59Z

PR #12827 merged through the merge queue as 3288c12, which is on main; Fixes #12805 closed this card. Verified by content: all 5 of the PR's files on main are blob-identical to the accepted head 007092e. The merge commit's message names no model.

    What landed:

    • On a /apps/APP/OBJECT/view/NAME route, a view with no label and no title is titled by its object's plural label, the same name its tab shows (objectui#12774's rule). The header no longer humanizes the view's machine name.
    • The tab, the mobile switcher, the record page's way back and the header all read one function, viewTabLabel (now packages/app-shell/src/views/viewTabLabel.ts, internal; nothing added to the package entry).
    • Released as @object-ui/app-shell: patch.

Not measured in a browser: the published 18.0.0-next.2 backend still invents a view label, so the label-less case shows only once objectstack PR #24013 is in the runtime the console talks to. This seat now removes pm:dispatched.
