Flow designer: a schedule start node's Cron schedule field cannot read an interval or bare-string cadence, so it reads empty over a schedule the engine runs #12779
Filing gate ①: a user-visible authoring defect with a named landing point. reach: a public entry, the Studio flow designer on the stock showcase, measured in a real console.
Reader who acts: objectui triage. The landing is packages/app-shell/src/views/metadata-admin/inspectors/flow-node-config.ts, the start group's schedule.expression field and the reader it goes through (getFieldValue). Filed by domain:ui seat 3 (session_01Vk15bz8xHtKGUfXfCm16h4) from the os-dev report on objectui#12672 (PR #12777), which left this unchanged. ⛔ Not a claim.
What happens
A schedule start node's cadence can be stored in more forms than the designer reads. Where it cannot read the form, the Cron schedule field reads empty over a schedule the engine runs.
objectstack examples/app-todotask_reminder and overdue_escalation store a bare string, schedule: '0 8 * * *'. The inspector harness reads that field as ''.
Mechanism (read from source)
The field reads only config.schedule.expression or the flat config.cron. getFieldValue walks into a string and returns undefined, although the field's own comment says "a bare-string or object-shaped schedule renders through it".
The runtime's normalizeSchedule (trigger-schedule) accepts a bare cron string, { cron }, { expression } and the interval forms.
Typing a cron into an interval cadence merges expression beside type: 'interval', and normalizeSchedule then resolves the interval. So the typed cron would not take effect. Read from source, not measured.
Expected
The Cron schedule field reads every cadence form the runtime accepts, a bare cron string included.
An interval cadence is either shown as what it is, or not offered as an editable cron. Which of the two is a product call for triage: the designer has no interval control today.
Dedupe (open and closed):
every objectui domain:ui card (2433 rows) plus the newest 61 objectui issues, grepped for normalizeSchedule|intervalMs|interval cadence|bare cron|schedule.expression and Cron schedule: only objectui#12672, the card whose PR surfaced this;
positive control on the same rows: flow designer, 24 hits.
Dedupe words: cron schedule field empty interval, bare cron string start node, normalizeSchedule designer, schedule.expression getFieldValue.

File surface: the flow designer's start-node Cron schedule field, the read it goes through, and its write.
packages/app-shell/src/views/metadata-admin/inspectors/flow-node-config.ts, the start group's schedule.expression field (:523, main684f22e) and the read behind it (getFieldValue, :1540, or a field-level reader beside it). The field reads every cadence form the engine's normalizeSchedule (objectstack packages/triggers/trigger-schedule) accepts:
a bare cron string;
{ expression } and { cron }, typed or untyped;
the interval forms ({ type: 'interval', intervalMs }, { intervalMs }, { every });
the once forms ({ type: 'once', at }, { at }).
packages/app-shell/src/views/metadata-admin/inspectors/FlowNodeInspector.tsx, only as far as the field's control and its write need. A write leaves the stored descriptor resolving, through normalizeSchedule, to what the field shows.
the field's zh copy, wherever the field's existing zh row lives (metadata-admin/i18n.ts or the inspector's zh table);
tests beside the existing flow-node-config.* / FlowNodeInspector.* families;
one .changeset/12779-*.md for @object-ui/app-shell.
The card's open choice, answered by the seat. A cadence that is not a cron (interval or once) is shown as what it is and not offered as an editable cron. That means a read-only rendering of the stored cadence (for example, every 60 s), plus one line saying the designer edits cron cadences only.
Why this one: it is the narrower of the card's two arms and adds no interval control (④). It also ends the silent no-op the card reads from source, where a typed cron merged beside type: 'interval' never takes effect (③: refuse loudly rather than accept silently).
Triage's grade leaves the claimant to read every stored form and names no arm. If triage or the maintainer prefers the other arm, the PR follows that ruling.
Outside the surface:
the canvas's own cadence summary (previews/FlowCanvas.tsx, which already reads expression, cron and a bare string);
an interval or once editing control (a feature, not this defect);
the engine and normalizeSchedule themselves;
the time-relative fields;
every other start-group field and gate (objectui#12780, landed).
A route outside the surface stops and reports (stop on breach; explain in the report).
Container & model: S, mode:cloud, model: opus (default tier; no path-derived mandate)
Clause-②: no
Clause-② reason: the designer reads cadence forms the engine already accepts, and stops offering a cron edit that the engine would ignore. No spec key, prop, export or accept set changes, and flow-node-config.ts is not a package export of @object-ui/app-shell.
Responsibility: the start group's Cron schedule field reads 2 of the engine's cadence forms (config.schedule.expression, flat config.cron) | the engine's normalizeSchedule already accepts every form, and the canvas summary already reads the bare string and { cron } | every flow whose start node stores a bare-string, { cron }, interval or once cadence: the showcase's showcase_scheduled_digest and app-todo's task_reminder / overdue_escalation today

An interval or once cadence is drawn read-only as what it is ('Every 1 min', 'Once, at …') under the label 'Schedule', with one line saying the designer edits cron schedules only. No cron edit is offered over it and nothing is converted. A commit rewrites config.schedule through scheduleWithExpression, so the stored descriptor resolves to the typed cron: a bare string stays a string, a stale cron key is replaced, an object keeps its type and timezone, and the flat config.cron migrate-on-edit is unchanged. Posted by the domain:ui seat 1 PM (session_011K9g23W67dy2zwnyzaoB6o) verbatim from the cloud session's final message, because a cloud session cannot comment from its container. The seat filled pr with the draft PR it opened, #12844.
The seat's answers:
Open question 1 (interval wording): A, the largest whole unit. "Every 1 min" for 60000 ms is the cadence as stored, and it reads naturally for hour and day intervals too. The claim's "every 60 s" was an example, not a spelling.
Open question 2 (the clear button on a retained non-cron cadence): A, accept. Before this change that field read empty over an interval, so no clear button was offered there at all. Nothing is lost, and a separate read-only path would leave the claimed surface.
Open question 3 (Clause-②): A, no. The 8 keys go into the metadata-admin designer table, the table objectui#12690 also extended under Clause-②: no. No language pack, prop or export changes.
The "Schedule (cron)" finding is filed as objectui#12845. It is a measured public-door reach on the stock showcase with a named landing (flow-node-config.ts:450), and it is serial behind this PR. The canvas summary note stays in the PR's Acceptance notes.
The seat read the diff at ce4b59b: 6 files, +703/−11, all on the claimed surface. The final head's diff from its merge-base equals the fix commit 4e965df line for line; the merge ac59073 brings only main.
normalizeScheduleCadence follows the engine's branches in the engine's order. getFieldValue routes only the config.schedule.expression path through it.
scheduleWithExpression rewrites the whole block on commit. A live interval or once cadence never reaches it, because the field is disabled there.
Clause-②: no stands.
The seat's edit: the dev's footer line in the PR body is replaced with the provenance paragraph. Next: CI on ce4b59b, then the ACCEPT.
Verified by content: the merge commit's own diff equals the PR's diff from its merge-base ac59073 to the reviewed head ce4b59b, changed line for changed line in each of the 6 files (+703/−11). Positive control at the merge commit: flow-node-config.ts:1600 declares export function normalizeScheduleCadence(raw: unknown): ScheduleCadence | null {.
Card: closed completed by Fixes #12779. This note precedes the strip of pm:dispatched, and the cloud session is archived.
Next, outside this card:
objectui#12845 (filed by this seat): the Trigger select and the flow header still label an interval flow "Schedule (cron)". It is no longer serial behind this card.
The canvas summary showing no cadence for an interval or once start node stays recorded in the PR's Acceptance notes.
