Fixes #28912

Clause-②: yes (widening)
Metadata-protocol: semantic

  • 先看:packages/spec/src/ui/view.zod.ts(hideFields 默认值与上方注释)、ui/packages/plugin-list/src/ListView.tsx(showHideFields 一行)、packages/spec/scripts/lib/default-changes.ts(台账新行)。

What changes

  • packages/spec/src/ui/view.zod.ts: UserActionsConfigSchema.hideFields goes from .default(false) to .default(true). The describe and the block comment above the schema now say why (maintainer ruling on List views: readers can hide and show columns by default — flip the userActions.hideFields default, so a generated app has the control without having to declare it #28912) and where the reader's choice is kept.
  • ui/packages/plugin-list/src/ListView.tsx: showHideFields: ua?.hideFields !== false (was === true), and the comment above it changes with it.
  • packages/spec/scripts/lib/default-changes.ts: the protocol-18 row ui/UserActionsConfig:hideFields, false to true, with the reason a build prints.
  • Regenerated: content/docs/references/ui/{view,page}.mdx (the default column and describe) and packages/spec/authorable-defaults/ui.json (one fingerprint line).
  • .changeset/28912-hide-fields-default-on.md: @objectstack/spec and @object-ui/plugin-list, minor.
  • Not touched, per the card: persistHiddenFields and the objectui#10694 session-only rule in objectViewListRenderer.tsx, and the record-details component's hideFields (a string[]).

Tests

Forced edits (they pinned the old default):

  • packages/spec/src/ui/view.test.ts "should apply default values": hideFields now expects true.
  • packages/spec/src/ui/view.test.ts the defaults-asymmetry pin: renamed to "pins the group-ON / hideFields-ON / rowColor-OFF defaults" and expects true.
  • ui/packages/plugin-list/src/__tests__/ListView.test.tsx "should keep the legacy show* flags working": a legacy showHideFields: true is now indistinguishable from silence, so the fold is pinned by showHideFields: false (control absent).

New:

  • view.test.ts "hideFields defaults ON (maintainer ruling)": absent parses to true (schema and through ListViewSchema), explicit false stays false, no userActions block materialises none.
  • ListView.test.tsx: the control is drawn when userActions omits hideFields, and not drawn for hideFields: false.

Acceptance notes

  • Premise check (run first, on main 135054e with ListView.tsx at main's === true read): ObjectView.emptyColumnsNoProjection-10694.test.tsx and ObjectView.userListState-12418.test.tsx, 43/43 passed. They drive the real ListView Display popover and its Hide Fields checkbox: the column goes; on a view that declares columns and on a saved view the choice is stored on the user's own list state and re-applied after a remount, and the view is not written; on a system view with no columns it is session-only and nothing is stored; another user sees the defaults. So the control works end to end and the flip does not spread a broken control.
  • Interface pages are unchanged on purpose: InterfaceListPage.tsx keeps its closed-by-default toolbar (hideFields: userActions.hideFields === true, like filter, rowHeight, group). A page interfaceConfig.userActions block that omits the key parses to true, but that page still draws the control only for an explicit true. The ledger reason and the changeset say so.
  • ui/packages/core/src/utils/normalize-list-view.ts around line 400 still says "hideFields/rowColor default OFF" in a comment. It is outside this card's file surface, so it is left for the seat.
  • No ADR-0087 D3 semantic migration entry is added: it is outside the claimed file surface. The three earlier UI default flips (editInline, pageSize, nav-group expanded) each carry one; see the report's open question.

Verification

Spec and plugin-list suites ran at d9c8c4e; the only later commit (5e51cfd) rewords the ledger reason and the changeset, touching no source or test. Gates and the app-shell set ran at 5e51cfd.

Spec, consumers, generated artifacts
  • pnpm --filter @objectstack/spec check:generated: 14/14 artifacts up to date (after gen:docs).
  • pnpm --filter @objectstack/spec test: Test Files 789 passed, Tests 23328 passed, 1 todo.
  • cd ui && pnpm exec vitest run packages/plugin-list: Test Files 179 passed, Tests 1729 passed.
  • cd ui && pnpm exec vitest run the 34 app-shell files that read hideFields, hiddenFields or userActions: Test Files 34 passed, Tests 344 passed (head 5e51cfd). The full app-shell suite (2065 files) is left to CI's Test UI shards; a local full run was stopped after 64 minutes.
  • check-empty-changeset exit 0; check-adr-0087-registration exit 0 (non-breaking, no disposition owed); check-changeset-no-major --event on this body exit 0 (LEVEL AXIS reads yes (widening) + semantic).
  • pnpm --filter @objectstack/spec typecheck exit 0. @object-ui/plugin-list type-check NOT MEASURED locally (the ui package closure is unbuilt in this container); CI's Type Check UI carries it.
  • dispatch-gates --ran on head 5e51cfd: 108 derived, 108 run, 0 NOT-MEASURED, 0 UNRUN, every exit 0.

Generated by Claude Code

A list view now offers the Hide Fields control unless it declares
`userActions: { hideFields: false }`. The spec default moves from false to
true, the ListView read becomes `ua?.hideFields !== false`, and the change
is recorded in the default-change ledger. Where the reader's choice is kept
(their own list state, or session-only on a system view with no columns)
is unchanged.

📓 Docs Drift Check

2 anchor(s) derived from 1 changed package(s); no hand-written page names any of them. ⚠️ 1 changed file(s) yielded no anchor (packages/spec/authorable-defaults/ui.json), so the pages documenting them are NOT COVERED by this run — this is not a clean bill of health for those files.

What this run could not see
  • 1 changed file(s) yielded no anchor (packages/spec/authorable-defaults/ui.json) — pages documenting those are invisible to this run
  • 3 name(s) were too generic to anchor anything (single lowercase words)
  • the SDK route bridge reached 60 of 216 client-bound route-ledger rows — the other 156 have no registrar path: tail to select them, so pages documenting THEIR client methods cannot appear above, on this or any run. Of those 156: 0 are remediable by widening that discovery convention (an in-repo file declares the path; the convention did not scan it); 55 are structural — on a ledger where NOT ONE row is declared in-repo, so no discovery change reaches them at any price; 101 are undecided (no in-repo declaration, on a ledger that has other in-repo registrars — absence and an unreadable spelling are not distinguishable here). The rows themselves: node scripts/docs-audit/affected-docs.mjs --bridge-coverage
  • a page that states a rule by its inputs shares no identifier with the emitter that implements the rule, so an emitter-only diff cannot list it — not on this run and not on any run. Measured on fix(driver-sql): emit varchar(maxLength) for a text field a declared index keys on #11430: content/docs/protocol/objectql/types.mdx documents the text-family column mapping by the ObjectQL type names it maps FROM (text / textarea / html) while the diff changed createColumn; it went unlisted, and it was the page that diff falsified, in four places. No shared token exists to detect this on, so a rule your change carries has to be re-read by hand in the pages that restate it.
  • a key NAME is not a key, so the hand re-read the line above prescribes can land on the wrong schema. The same spelling is authorable on one governed type and a [REMOVED] tombstone on another for each of active, aria, joins, objects, template, tools and version (censused on [finding] tools is a key on BOTH AgentSchema (tombstoned, dead) and SkillSchema (live, cloud-attested), so a name-based search attributes skill examples to the agent key — it produced a false stop-the-line alarm on PR #19059 #19093 over the liveness ledger's governed types, top-level keys); nothing in a search result distinguishes the two, so a grep hit on a LIVE example reads as evidence about the DEAD key. Measured on fix(spec): the agent.tools liveness row says dead — it claimed live on a key the schema tombstoned #19059: content/docs/ai/agents.mdx was reported as contradicting the agent.tools tombstone over its tools: example at :161, which is inside the defineSkill({ block opened at :155 — the page was already correct. Settle ownership by PARSING the value against both schemas, never by the name: that literal PASSES SkillSchema, and as an AgentSchema it FAILS at tools with the tombstone prescription. ⛔ These names are not the whole class — a key retired through a .strict() guidance map leaves no tombstone in the walked shape and none of them here (tool.category, live as AIToolDefinition.category).

Coarse fallback — 168 page(s) merely mention a changed package (the pre-#9192 predicate, kept for the deliberately-wide backstop): node scripts/docs-audit/affected-docs.mjs --json d1f3ac05038cffc28b9f8bcbe2116afe1b5f1a2e → packageMentionDocs.

Which tree this was computed on

This run read content/docs from 90ce645ceece900dbdc139dadc91dfb5c22b260e — the merge of head 5e1742ee6760b057f0dbdbcb87f3e8a78fae0393 into base d1f3ac05038cffc28b9f8bcbe2116afe1b5f1a2e, which is what actions/checkout gives a pull_request run. Not the PR head.

A worktree cut from an older main holds a different content/docs, so re-deriving there can legitimately return a different list — that is a different tree, not a wrong row. To answer on the same tree:

# while this PR is open — GitHub drops the merge commit once it closes
git fetch origin 90ce645ceece900dbdc139dadc91dfb5c22b260e && git checkout 90ce645ceece900dbdc139dadc91dfb5c22b260e
# afterwards, rebuild it from the two parents, which stay fetchable
git fetch origin d1f3ac05038cffc28b9f8bcbe2116afe1b5f1a2e 5e1742ee6760b057f0dbdbcb87f3e8a78fae0393 && git checkout -B drift-repro d1f3ac05038cffc28b9f8bcbe2116afe1b5f1a2e && git merge --no-ff 5e1742ee6760b057f0dbdbcb87f3e8a78fae0393

node scripts/docs-audit/affected-docs.mjs --json d1f3ac05038cffc28b9f8bcbe2116afe1b5f1a2e

⚠️ That checkout carried uncommitted changes, so the commit above does not fully identify what was read.

Adds `list-view-hide-fields-default-on` so `os migrate meta` and the
upgrade guide carry the flip, points the ledger row, the schema comment and
the changeset at it, and corrects the stale "hideFields default OFF" comment
in ui core's normalize-list-view.

  1. Shape: draft, base main, Fixes #28912, Clause-②: yes (widening) / Metadata-protocol: semantic at line start in the body and the changeset (spec + plugin-list minor). Inside the claimed surface as amended (claim 6569727084, amended for the semantic entry and the ui core comment). Not governed.
  2. Premise first (round 1, on main 135054eb): the control hideFields: true draws already works end to end. ObjectView 10694 + 12418 are 43/43 green: a real Hide Fields click removes the column, the choice survives a remount on a view with columns and on a saved view, and on a system view with no columns it lasts for the session only.
  3. Diff, read on the head:
    • hideFields is .default(true), with its describe and block comment rewritten.
    • ListView reads ua?.hideFields !== false.
    • The ui/UserActionsConfig:hideFields row in default-changes.ts goes false→true (check:authorable-surface accepts it), and authorable-defaults/ui.json and the references are regenerated.
    • D3 semantic entry 18.list-view-hide-fields-default-on, in the same class as list-view-edit-inline-default-on and view-pagination-page-size-default-50: no key removed, so no tombstone and no D2 conversion. A mechanical rewrite would defeat the ruling, and the entry says why.
    • The ui core normalize-list-view.ts comment now reads ON.
    • persistHiddenFields / objectui#10694 is untouched, and so is the record-details hideFields.
  4. Forced test edits (4, all named): 2 in view.test.ts; the legacy show* fold test in ListView.test.tsx, now pinned by false; and accepted deviation — normalize-list-view.foldOutputAuthorable-5435.test.ts in ui core, whose default-polarity pin went red on the flip and now expects true. That one is a pin of the very default this card flips, outside the amended surface only because round 1 had not run ui core.
  5. Readings (dev): spec 789 files / 23328 tests, check:generated 14/14; ui core + types 614 files / 14682 tests; plugin-list 179 files / 1729 tests; the 32 + 34 ui test files that name userActions/hideFields green; dispatch-gates 110/110 exit 0, --ran 0 UNRUN; check-changeset-no-major --event exit 0. The full app-shell run (2065 files) is left to CI (declared). Check-runs on 5e1742ee at reading: 58 success, 7 skipped, 0 failed.
  6. Accepted note: InterfaceListPage keeps its closed-by-default === true, as it does for filter, group and rowHeight. This is disclosed in the ledger reason, the semantic entry and the changeset; the card's surface is the list view.
  7. PR body: it still carries round-1 readings. The dev's round-2 body is staged at /mnt/project-files/spec-seat1/29083-pr-body-r2.md, and this record is the current-head reading.
  8. Landing: one CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER review (a default change), handed to triage (line below). Then the seat readies and queues.

Contract review

Served-tier: CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER
Head-sha: 5e1742ee6760b057f0dbdbcb87f3e8a78fae0393
Local-runs: none
Scope: packages/spec/src/migrations/entries/semantic/18.list-view-hide-fields-default-on.ts, packages/spec/src/ui/view.zod.ts + packages/spec/scripts/lib/default-changes.ts, packages/spec/src/ui/page.zod.ts (InterfacePageConfigSchema.userActions, the schema's second carrier), ui/packages/plugin-list/src/ListView.tsx (the first consumer), ui/packages/app-shell/src/views/objectViewListRenderer.tsx (persistHiddenFields, the storage rule the entry describes), ui/packages/app-shell/src/views/InterfaceListPage.tsx (the interface-page read the entry and the ledger describe), ui/packages/core/src/utils/normalize-list-view.ts (the fold applies no default), packages/spec/src/migrations/entries/semantic/18.list-view-edit-inline-default-on.ts and 18.view-pagination-page-size-default-50.ts and 18.ui-nav-group-expanded-default-open.ts (the precedent class), packages/spec/src/migrations/entries/README.md and registry.ts.template, docs/adr/0087-metadata-protocol-upgrade-contract.md, AGENTS.md post-task checklist item 3, ui/packages/app-shell/src/views/ObjectView.emptyColumnsNoProjection-10694.test.tsx and ObjectView.userListState-12418.test.tsx on main (the premise evidence).

Inputs read: card #28912 body and all four comments (the ruling confirmation 6568880403, triage, the seat's claim and amendment, both os-dev reports), PR #29083 body, file list, the net diff, the three PR comments, and the 70 check-runs on the head: 59 success, 11 skipped (opt-in harnesses, matrix placeholders, the schedule gate), 0 failed, 0 pending. The PR body is the round-1 text and says no D3 entry is added; the tree has one. The tree is judged, not the body.

① Derived judgments

  • Accept set: unchanged — right. UserActionsConfigSchema stays a strictObject with the same seven keys; hideFields stays z.boolean(). Every authored value parses as before; a non-boolean is still refused. The changeset, ledger and entry all say so, and the diff agrees.
  • Published default: ui/UserActionsConfig:hideFields false to true — right, and declared the documented way. default-changes.ts says a moved default of an existing key belongs in the ledger with before/after fingerprints and a printed reason, and "a default change that also warrants a migration TODO should get one" as a semantic entry. Both are present. authorable-defaults/ui.json moves exactly one fingerprint line, so the schema is published under one def key; the page's interfaceConfig.userActions is the same def (page.zod.ts:1076), which is why page.mdx regenerates too.
  • Silent inheritance: this IS a behaviour change every existing list view inherits, not a widening of what parses. A view whose userActions block omits the key now parses to true; a view with no block parses with none and ListView reads the absent key as on. ADR-0087 classes a default flip as semantic and refuses it at the D2 window (DEFAULT_FLIPS_NOT_REPLAYED_HERE), leaving D3 as the only carrier. That is exactly the route taken: a ledger row that announces itself in the build log and a D3 entry that reaches os migrate meta and the upgrade guide. Right.
  • Renderer reads the spec default with no second default of its own — right for the list view. ListView.tsx:1849 showHideFields: ua?.hideFields !== false; normalize-list-view.ts folds legacy showHideFields and applies no default (its comment now says so correctly); objectViewListRenderer.tsx:613 relays userActions through the fold untouched. ObjectDataPage.tsx:398 writes an explicit hideFields: true (pre-existing, consistent with the new default).
  • Interface page keeps a second default — pre-existing, now contradicting the published default. InterfaceListPage.tsx:589 reads userActions.hideFields === true off cfg.userActions || {}, as it does for filter, rowHeight and group whose spec default is already true. So the one schema now publishes "on by default" for a page block that the page renders closed by default. The ledger and the entry disclose it; the card's surface is the list view (ListView.tsx:1847). Named here as a contract inconsistency of the existing class, should-fix below, not a defect of the hits files.
  • Storage rule untouched — right. persistHiddenFields (objectViewListRenderer.tsx:373) and the objectui#10694 session-only rule are not in the diff; the entry describes them accurately (stored on the reader's list state on a view with columns or a saved view, session-only on a system view with none, never the shared view).
  • Field security: the control subtracts columns client-side; the 10694 suite on main pins that a drawn field the caller may not read is not offered and not stored. No security-relevant finding; nothing withheld from this record.

② Semver level

  • Changeset 28912-hide-fields-default-on.md: @objectstack/spec minor, @object-ui/plugin-list minor, with Clause-②: yes (widening) and Metadata-protocol: semantic at line start in both the changeset and the PR body. AGENTS.md checklist item 3: "a changed meaning or default is semantic", and a kind "takes at least minor on a package the diff moves". Right.
  • @object-ui/core moves by a comment and a test pin only; it sits in the same fixed group as @objectstack/spec in .changeset/config.json, so it is versioned with them and no changeset of its own is owed. Check Changeset is green on the head.
  • Clause-② arm: the vocabulary is the closed pair, and (narrowing) is BREAKING; nothing here is refused or removed, so yes (widening) is the only truthful arm, and the behaviour change rides on semantic plus the D3 entry rather than on the arm. The gate's own ruling pins this reading (check-changeset-no-major: "the widening arm is read and the KIND carries the axis"). Right. No skip-changeset; no BREAKING banner owed; check-adr-0087-registration has no disposition to ask for.

③ Boundary flags

  • Dev open question 1 (add a D3 entry): seat took A; the entry is in the tree at the id the ledger row and the view.zod.ts comment name. Answered.
  • Dev open question 2 (stale "hideFields default OFF" comment in normalize-list-view.ts): seat took A; fixed, comment only. Answered.
  • Dev open question 3 (do the claim lines fit a default flip): yes, per ② above. Answered.
  • Dev round-2 open question (who patches the PR body): process, not contract. The body on the head still says "No ADR-0087 D3 semantic migration entry is added" while the tree has one; the seat's ACCEPT comment is the current-head reading. Should-fix: the seat applies the staged round-2 body before landing so the merged description does not contradict the tree.
  • Deviation: local app-shell run narrowed to 34 files; the full suite is CI's — Test UI 16/16 shards green on the head. Deviation: @object-ui/plugin-list type-check not measured locally — Type Check UI green on the head. Deviation: normalize-list-view.foldOutputAuthorable-5435.test.ts edited outside the amended surface — it is a pin of the very default this card flips, and the seat accepted it; right.
  • Premise (the card's "verify first"): the round-1 os-dev report records it on the card — ObjectView.emptyColumnsNoProjection-10694 and ObjectView.userListState-12418 on main 135054eb with the renderer still at === true, 43/43. Read on main, those suites click the real Display popover's Hide Fields control, assert the column goes, mount the route again and assert the stored list is applied on a view with columns and on a saved view, and assert nothing is stored on a system view with none. That is the card's premise, with the caveat that it is a jsdom run, not a browser walk; the card asked for the former's content and not the latter's form. Satisfied.
  • Maintainer ruling: confirmed on the card in comment 6568880403 (「Phone list: offer sort and the list search at 390 px — today both are hidden and the code tells the reader to switch to desktop #28911 和 List views: readers can hide and show columns by default — flip the userActions.hideFields default, so a generated app has the control without having to declare it #28912 都保留,按卡上写的做。」); the Target stands as written, and the diff does Target 1 to 3 and adds nothing beyond them.

④ Design judgment

packages/spec/src/ui/view.zod.ts — judged against the ruling on #28912 and its first consumer ListView.tsx.

  • .default(true) with a describe that names the opt-out (hideFields: false) and the distinction from the record-details hideFields array. The block comment above the schema no longer calls the asymmetry load-bearing; it records the ruling verbatim, the renderer read ua?.hideFields !== false, where the choice is kept (objectui#10694) and the D3 id. Every statement checks against the live tree (ListView.tsx:1849, objectViewListRenderer.tsx:373, the entry file). Holds.
  • Break attempt: parse an interfaceConfig.userActions block that omits the key — it materialises true, and InterfaceListPage.tsx:589 === true then draws the control, while an absent block or an unparsed stored page stays closed. So on the page surface the new describe ("On by default ... declare hideFields: false to withhold") is true for a parsed block and false for an absent one; the same split already exists for filter, rowHeight and group on that page. Not introduced by this diff, disclosed in the ledger and entry, outside the card. Should-fix (carrier: a ui card): InterfaceListPage reads the spec defaults for the four === true toggles, or the spec gives the page its own documented defaults; one contract, not two.
  • The view.test.ts pins match the schema: absent key to true directly and through ListViewSchema; explicit false kept; no block materialises none; the asymmetry pin renamed and re-pinned. The Zod .default() is the single source; no second default in spec.

packages/spec/src/migrations/entries/semantic/18.list-view-hide-fields-default-on.ts — judged against ADR-0087 D3, entries/README.md, the three precedent default-flip entries, and the consumer code it describes.

  • Shape: one file, filename derived from the id, export const entry: SemanticMigration with id, surface, replacement, reason, acceptanceCriteria; no conversionIds (no D2 conversion exists for a default flip, as ADR-0087 requires) and no relevantWhen (the three precedents carry none; the surface lives under views and pages). registry.ts.template untouched, matching the precedents (none adds a STEP18_RATIONALE fragment for a default flip). registry.ts not edited. Holds.
  • Tells the upgrading deployment what changes and how to keep the old behaviour: replacement gives the exact spelling userActions: { hideFields: false }; reason states the old and new parse of an omitting block, that a block-less view parses with none and the renderer reads it as on, where a reader's choice is kept, and the os compile residue (a serialised false keeps withholding). acceptanceCriteria are checkable and are what view.test.ts and ListView.test.tsx now pin. Holds.
  • Prose ratchet (README rule): the quoted shapes are the same spellings the edit-inline entry already carries on main, and Test Core 8/8 is green on the head, so no live textual ratchet matches them. Holds.
  • Break attempt: the sentence "An interface page keeps its own closed-by-default toolbar and still draws the control only for an explicit true" is exact for an absent block or an unparsed document and inexact for a parsed block, where the materialised default satisfies === true (see above). The prescription that matters to the deployment (write false to withhold) is correct on both surfaces, so this is not a must-fix. Should-fix (this entry, next touch): qualify the sentence — the page draws the control for an explicit true or for a parsed block that omits the key — so the one load-bearing prose field does not overstate the page's closedness.

No must-fix found. Two should-fixes above plus the stale PR body (③).

Contract review PASS 6572308637 on this head. Check-runs: 59 success, 11 skipped, 0 failed. The seat removes needs:contract-review, readies the PR and arms auto-merge. It is not governed.

  • PR body (should-fix ③): the body still describes round 1 and says no D3 entry is added. The seat cannot rewrite it here: the relay refuses a seat's issue_patch body that does not open with the seat's signature line, and a signature line above Fixes #28912 would break the PR-body shape the guards read (post-stamped: every post's first line is a signature <lane>#<n> · <account> · <session>, and a post without one is refused #27113 exempts only pr_create). The current-head reading is the seat record 6571977447, together with this note: the tree carries the D3 entry 18.list-view-hide-fields-default-on. The dev's staged round-2 body is not applied. The merge commit carries the title, not the body. The process gap (who rewrites a PR body after round 1) goes to the pm-dispatch skill owners as a finding.
  • Should-fix, interface page: InterfaceListPage.tsx:589 keeps === true for hideFields, filter, rowHeight and group, while the one UserActionsConfigSchema publishes them on by default. This is filed as a ui finding.
  • Should-fix, entry sentence ("an interface page … draws the control only for an explicit true"): next touch. The same finding carries it.
