Fixes #28054
Clause-②: no (narrowing)
Metadata-protocol: narrowed
Skills-docs: none — no page under skills/** teaches a flow's own successMessage / errorMessage. The two docs pages that do (content/docs/automation/flows.mdx, the flow property table, and content/docs/ui/translations.mdx, the server-rendered group) are updated in this diff.

  • 先看:packages/services/service-automation/src/node-text-rendering.ts 的 renderFlowTerminalMessage,dag-traversal.ts / run-resume.ts / engine.ts 的结束出口,packages/spec/src/automation/flow-text-slot-template.ts 的 FLOW_TEXT_SLOTS。
  • 两分钟验证:pnpm --filter @objectstack/service-automation exec vitest run src/flow-terminal-message-template.test.ts,预期 17 passed。其中首次运行和恢复两条路径都应答出 "3 contacts enrolled"。
  • 需要你做的:无。席位已把声明定为收窄(门会拒单花括号写法和编译不过的洞,第一方存量 0 处),契约复审通过后由席位落地。

What changes

  • Spec, the contract. packages/spec/src/automation/flow-text-slot-template.ts adds FLOW_TEXT_SLOTS (successMessage, errorMessage) and flowTextSlotSources(flow). The doors read these the way they read flowNodeTextSlotSources. The flow-level slots are left to the doors, not the parse, which is how a node slot other than end is judged. flow.zod.ts: the docblock line saying {var} is NOT interpolated is flipped, and both describes now say these are {{ }} templates over the run's variables. The describes of AutomationResult (contracts/automation-service.ts) and of the automation API response and FlowFailureDetails (api/automation-api.zod.ts) now say rendered, not copied. system/i18n-resolver.ts adds flowTerminalMessageKey(flow, key), which spells flows.FLOW.successMessage / .errorMessage, as flowRefusalMessageKey does for a refusal. system/translation.zod.ts: the two translation leaves are now flowTextSlotTranslation(), the same leaf a screen's title / description and a refusal's message use. So a single-brace {token} in a translated toast is refused, and an empty string is accepted.
  • Engine, the render. node-text-rendering.ts adds renderFlowTerminalMessage, and engine.ts adds a wrapper of the same name, in the [maintainer] refactor(service-automation): split src/engine.ts (13,735 lines, +2,199 in 30 days) along its AutomationEngine seams, one move-only slice per PR #25222 split pattern. It hands the slot to the existing renderFlowTextSlot, the function the refusing end node's message goes through. So the translation is picked first in AutomationContext.locale (translatedFlowTemplate, through the i18n service), then the holes are filled by renderTextSlot. Every terminal exit is covered:
    • execute(): success and failure.
    • dag-traversal.ts executeWithoutRetry: success, and failure over the variables at the failure point, $error included.
    • run-resume.ts resumeInternal: success, and the stranded-run failure.
    • retryExecution: each attempt renders with the template dispatched for the run. The exhausted exit reports the last attempt's rendering. An attempt that never reached the DAG renders over an empty map.
    • A message that cannot render (a {{ x | currency }} hole with no tenant default currency) is left off the result with one warning, and the run's verdict stands.
  • Every read, decided. grep for flow.successMessage / flow.errorMessage:
    • engine.ts, dag-traversal.ts, run-resume.ts: rendered.
    • map-node.ts, subflow-node.ts: comment mentions only. Neither forwards a child flow's message to its parent's result, so there is nothing to render.
  • Doors. flow-registration-checks.ts (registerFlow) and packages/lint/src/validate-expressions.ts (objectstack validate, compile, the publish gate) judge both keys as they judge a node text slot:
    • textSlotTemplateRefusal for a single-brace token, with the same words as an end node.
    • Then validateExpression('template', …) for a hole that does not compile.
    • The lint issue path is flows[i].successMessage.
  • Console. ui/packages/app-shell flowResponse.ts / flowLaunch.ts / FlowRunner.tsx / RecordDetailView.tsx / useConsoleActionRuntime.tsx: the client overlay of flows.FLOW.successMessage / .errorMessage is removed. The engine now serves them translated and filled, and an overlay would put the bundle's template, holes raw, over the filled sentence. This is the A screen flow's select options and screen description have no key in the flows translation face — the zh-CN intake wizard translates its labels and placeholders and keeps its options and body text in English (17.7.0) #22507 ruling A, as already applied to the screen heading. launchConsoleFlow takes language in place of translation: { i18n, language }. interpretFlowResponse takes a locale string. FlowCopyLocale and translatedFlowMessage are gone.
  • Ledgers and regenerated files.
    • packages/spec/liveness/translation.json: the two flows.* rows are repointed from the console to the engine and stay live.
    • packages/spec/dropped-refinements.baseline.json: 22 new sites, the two leaves under each of 11 published schemas. Hand-edited as that ledger requires, with the exact list the build printed. It is the same dropped .refine() the sibling leaves screens.title / description and refusals.message already carry.
    • Regenerated with repo tooling (gen:schema, gen:docs, check:generated --fix): content/docs/references/{api/automation-api,automation/flow,system/translation}.mdx, packages/spec/api-surface/{automation,system}.json, packages/spec/export-origins/{automation,system}.json.
  • Docs and changeset. content/docs/automation/flows.mdx and content/docs/ui/translations.mdx are updated. .changeset/28054-flow-message-template.md covers spec, service-automation and lint (minor each), plus app-shell, and carries both declaration lines.

Tests

  • packages/services/service-automation/src/flow-terminal-message-template.test.ts (new, 17 tests):
    • The card's probe '{{enrolledCount}} contacts enrolled' with enrolledCount = 3 answers "3 contacts enrolled" on the first-run path and on the resume path, and over a later retry attempt's variables.
    • errorMessage filled at the failure point, a {{ $error.message }} hole, and the retry-exhausted exit.
    • An unknown variable renders the blank fragment, equal to renderTextSlot(template, new Map()) for any text slot.
    • registerFlow refuses a single-brace token with the same textSlotTemplateRefusal words it gives an end node.
    • registerFlow refuses a malformed {{ enrolledCount + 1 }} with the same validateExpression message at flow and at node level.
    • No-hole controls are byte-identical, and absent messages stay absent.
    • The translation key is spelled flows.enrol.successMessage.
    • zh-CN success and failure use the translated template with its holes filled. No locale, or a locale the bundle lacks, renders the authored template.
    • A currency hole with no tenant currency leaves no message, logs one warning, and the success stands.
  • packages/spec/src/automation/flow-text-slot-template.test.ts: FLOW_TEXT_SLOTS keys equal FLOW_TERMINAL_MESSAGE_KEYS. Also covers flowTextSlotSources and the judge on {enrolledCount}.
  • packages/spec/src/system/translation.test.ts: the toasts are keyed as templates that keep their holes. A single brace in a translated toast is refused at ['flows','enrol',key], and an empty string is accepted.
  • packages/lint/src/validate-expressions.test.ts: both keys checked for where and path. A single brace and a malformed hole get the end node's message, and well-formed messages are clean.
  • Console: flowResponse.test.ts, flowLaunch.translation-12075.test.tsx and FlowRunner.flowsTranslation-12075.test.tsx flipped to pin the toasts as served. Each flipped pin asserts the served string, and that the bundle template is not drawn over it.
  • Ablation (one-time, not committed). After the fix commit, scripts/ablation-replace.mjs made renderFlowTerminalMessage return the authored text, which is the old copy. It reported "ok mutation landed: anchor 1 -> 0". The new file went 11 failed / 6 passed: every render pin went red, and the door, control and key pins stayed green as expected. The file was restored with git checkout HEAD -- path under a trap, and git diff HEAD was empty afterwards.

Acceptance notes

  • Declared a narrowing (seat ruling). The doors now refuse, in these two keys, a single-brace {token} and a {{ }} that does not compile; both were accepted before. Rendering {{ }} changes meaning and widens no accept set. So the PR declares Clause-②: no (narrowing) / Metadata-protocol: narrowed (AGENTS.md step 3: a value refused is narrowed; several ⇒ narrowed over semantic). The changeset carries the BREAKING banner, the remedy and adr-0087: not-required (no-migration-prescription). Measured reach: 0 first-party flow messages contain {. The (narrowing) arm's dogfood battery ran at cccbc85418: 371 files passed / 3 skipped, 2994 tests passed / 28 skipped, 0 failed.
  • A message that cannot render is dropped, not thrown. At a terminal exit the run has already ended. A FlowTextTemplateError there (the only known case is a currency hole with no tenant default) leaves the message off the result with one warning, so the caller shows its own sentence and the verdict and history row stand. An end node's refusal throws instead, because there the refusal is the verdict.
  • Not extended: the lint-flow-patterns.ts bare-$ advisory still covers node slots only.
  • Translate-by-key settled by precedent: the engine picks flows.FLOW.successMessage / .errorMessage before it renders, exactly as renderRefusalMessage and the screen executor do. The console overlay is removed, per A screen flow's select options and screen description have no key in the flows translation face — the zh-CN intake wizard translates its labels and placeholders and keeps its options and body text in English (17.7.0) #22507 ruling A.

Verification

Suites below at head e99d244155; the declaration commit and the merge of origin/main that followed (head cccbc85418) re-ran the changeset gates (check:adr-0087-registration, check-changeset-no-major, check-empty-changeset: exit 0), regeneration (all 14 artefacts up to date) and the full dogfood battery (exit 0). check:dual-build-cjs-loads exited 3 (PREREQUISITE NOT MET): it needs every workspace package's dist, and 34 are not built in this container. Nothing was measured; CI's build job runs it. check:skill-examples and check:i18n-walk-parity first exited 3 for the same reason. After building @objectstack/client-react and @objectstack/cli each re-ran with exit 0, and the table records the re-run.

📓 Docs Drift Check

This PR changes 3 package(s): @objectstack/lint, @objectstack/service-automation, @objectstack/spec, touching 53 documentable anchor(s). ⚠️ 6 changed file(s) yielded no anchor (packages/spec/api-surface/automation.json, packages/spec/api-surface/system.json, packages/spec/dropped-refinements.baseline.json, …), so the pages documenting them are NOT COVERED by this run — this is not a clean bill of health for those files.

  • 6 changed file(s) yielded no anchor (packages/spec/api-surface/automation.json, packages/spec/api-surface/system.json, packages/spec/dropped-refinements.baseline.json, …) — pages documenting those are invisible to this run
  • 2 name(s) were too generic to anchor anything (single lowercase words)
  • the SDK route bridge reached 60 of 215 client-bound route-ledger rows — the other 155 have no registrar path: tail to select them, so pages documenting THEIR client methods cannot appear above, on this or any run. Of those 155: 0 are remediable by widening that discovery convention (an in-repo file declares the path; the convention did not scan it); 55 are structural — on a ledger where NOT ONE row is declared in-repo, so no discovery change reaches them at any price; 100 are undecided (no in-repo declaration, on a ledger that has other in-repo registrars — absence and an unreadable spelling are not distinguishable here). The rows themselves: node scripts/docs-audit/affected-docs.mjs --bridge-coverage
  • a page that states a rule by its inputs shares no identifier with the emitter that implements the rule, so an emitter-only diff cannot list it — not on this run and not on any run. Measured on fix(driver-sql): emit varchar(maxLength) for a text field a declared index keys on #11430: content/docs/protocol/objectql/types.mdx documents the text-family column mapping by the ObjectQL type names it maps FROM (text / textarea / html) while the diff changed createColumn; it went unlisted, and it was the page that diff falsified, in four places. No shared token exists to detect this on, so a rule your change carries has to be re-read by hand in the pages that restate it.
  • a key NAME is not a key, so the hand re-read the line above prescribes can land on the wrong schema. The same spelling is authorable on one governed type and a [REMOVED] tombstone on another for each of active, aria, joins, objects, template, tools and version (censused on [finding] tools is a key on BOTH AgentSchema (tombstoned, dead) and SkillSchema (live, cloud-attested), so a name-based search attributes skill examples to the agent key — it produced a false stop-the-line alarm on PR #19059 #19093 over the liveness ledger's governed types, top-level keys); nothing in a search result distinguishes the two, so a grep hit on a LIVE example reads as evidence about the DEAD key. Measured on fix(spec): the agent.tools liveness row says dead — it claimed live on a key the schema tombstoned #19059: content/docs/ai/agents.mdx was reported as contradicting the agent.tools tombstone over its tools: example at :161, which is inside the defineSkill({ block opened at :155 — the page was already correct. Settle ownership by PARSING the value against both schemas, never by the name: that literal PASSES SkillSchema, and as an AgentSchema it FAILS at tools with the tombstone prescription. ⛔ These names are not the whole class — a key retired through a .strict() guidance map leaves no tombstone in the walked shape and none of them here (tool.category, live as AIToolDefinition.category).

Coarse fallback — 168 page(s) merely mention a changed package (the pre-#9192 predicate, kept for the deliberately-wide backstop): node scripts/docs-audit/affected-docs.mjs --json 7e6e8a464799af6271410ec6b4b3e119716e2f3a → packageMentionDocs.

Which tree this was computed on

This run read content/docs from 33bf73b9a77c5c0c353a21e5252a45d2e19d9921 — the merge of head 5db38c6984c22d07ce726fd1c0641b0bb1128fb2 into base 7e6e8a464799af6271410ec6b4b3e119716e2f3a, which is what actions/checkout gives a pull_request run. Not the PR head.

A worktree cut from an older main holds a different content/docs, so re-deriving there can legitimately return a different list — that is a different tree, not a wrong row. To answer on the same tree:

# while this PR is open — GitHub drops the merge commit once it closes
git fetch origin 33bf73b9a77c5c0c353a21e5252a45d2e19d9921 && git checkout 33bf73b9a77c5c0c353a21e5252a45d2e19d9921
# afterwards, rebuild it from the two parents, which stay fetchable
git fetch origin 7e6e8a464799af6271410ec6b4b3e119716e2f3a 5db38c6984c22d07ce726fd1c0641b0bb1128fb2 && git checkout -B drift-repro 7e6e8a464799af6271410ec6b4b3e119716e2f3a && git merge --no-ff 5db38c6984c22d07ce726fd1c0641b0bb1128fb2

node scripts/docs-audit/affected-docs.mjs --json 7e6e8a464799af6271410ec6b4b3e119716e2f3a

⚠️ That checkout carried uncommitted changes, so the commit above does not fully identify what was read.

Advisory only, and a precision-first one (#9192): a page is listed because it names a
symbol, wire route or SDK method this diff touched — not because it mentions a changed
package. Each row says which anchor put it there, so a wrong row is reportable rather than
merely annoying. To re-verify, run the docs-accuracy-audit workflow scoped to these files:
node scripts/docs-audit/affected-docs.mjs 7e6e8a464799af6271410ec6b4b3e119716e2f3a → pass the list as
args.docs, on the commit named under Which tree this was computed on.

  • 先看: packages/services/service-automation/src/node-text-rendering.ts 的 renderFlowTerminalMessage,packages/spec/src/automation/flow-text-slot-template.ts 的 FLOW_TEXT_SLOTS。
  • 两分钟验证: pnpm --filter @objectstack/service-automation exec vitest run src/flow-terminal-message-template.test.ts,全绿。
  • 需要你做的: 无。不是受管面,契约复审通过后由席位落地。

席位意见: ACCEPT(车道部分)。渲染完全沿用结束节点 message 已有的那条路径:先翻译、后填变量,判定规则也相同,没有另造一套。控制台不再自己叠加翻译,改为直接显示服务端渲染好的句子,这跟 #22507 的裁决 A 一致。声明由席位定为收窄,因为门开始拒收以前能收的写法。

  1. 形态: 36 files, +1014 / −316 at head cccbc85418, draft, title feat(automation)!:.
    • The PR body declares Fixes #28054, Clause-②: no (narrowing), Metadata-protocol: narrowed and Skills-docs: none … (the two docs pages are updated in the diff).
    • The changeset is .changeset/28054-flow-message-template.md: spec, service-automation and lint at minor, with a BREAKING banner, the remedy and adr-0087: not-required (no-migration-prescription).
    • check-governed-merges.mjs --pr 28720: NOT governed, 1330 lines. Tier S.
    • The seat patched the title and the body's declaration, acceptance and verification lines (relay issue_patch, read back byte-identical).
  2. 前提实测: holds.
    • Render. renderFlowTerminalMessage (node-text-rendering.ts) calls the existing renderFlowTextSlot with key flowTerminalMessageKey(flow, key), so the translation is picked by locale before the holes fill, as for an end node's message and renderRefusalMessage.
    • Exits. It is wired at every terminal exit (execute, executeWithoutRetry in dag-traversal.ts, resumeInternal, retryExecution). errorMessage renders over the failure point's variables. Under retryExecution it uses the dispatched definition's template.
    • Render failure. A FlowTextTemplateError leaves the message off the result with a warning. The run's verdict stands, and raw holes never reach a user.
    • Doors. registerFlow (flow-registration-checks.ts) and validateStackExpressions (lint) judge the two keys as node slots, with textSlotTemplateRefusal then validateExpression('template').
    • Console. The client overlay of flows.FLOW.successMessage/errorMessage is removed (flowResponse.ts, flowLaunch.ts, FlowRunner.tsx), and the toast shows the server's sentence.
  3. 门禁 check-runs: CI is running on cccbc85418. The seat re-reads every check before any landing stroke. Dev results:
    • At e99d244155: dispatch-gates --commands derived 112 commands; 111 ran with exit 0 and 1 was NOT MEASURED (check:dual-build-cjs-loads, no dists, left to CI). service-automation 252 files / 3202 tests; spec 783 / 23178; lint 184 / 7722; app-shell flow files 149 / 1153; typecheck 0 for spec, service-automation, lint and app-shell.
    • Ablation: with renderFlowTerminalMessage returning the raw text, 11 of the 17 new tests go red. The door, control and key cases stay green.
    • At cccbc85418 (declaration commit plus merge of main): check:adr-0087-registration 0, check-changeset-no-major 0, check-empty-changeset 0, all 14 generated artefacts up to date. The full dogfood battery passed: 371 files passed / 3 skipped, 2994 tests passed / 28 skipped, 0 failed.
    • os-dev-report 6559858097. It predates the re-declaration, so its widening reading is superseded by this record.
  4. 接受的偏差:
    • Declaration re-ruled by the seat to no (narrowing) / narrowed. The order said yes (widening) / semantic. The doors now refuse {token} and uncompilable {{ }} in two keys that took any string, and per AGENTS.md step 3 a refused value is narrowed, which outranks semantic. clause2-line.mjs reserves yes (narrowing) for a diff that also widens, and nothing is widened here.
    • dropped-refinements.baseline.json +22 sites: two translation leaves × 11 published schemas. They moved to flowTextSlotTranslation(), whose refine does not project to JSON Schema, the same as the sibling screens.title/description and refusals.message rows.
    • liveness/translation.json: two rows' evidence now points to engine.ts, where the render happens. The status stays live.
    • FlowRunner.flowsTranslation-12075.test.tsx: re-pinned from the old client overlay to "shows the server's sentence". Nothing was skipped.
  5. 范围外去向: the bare-$ hint in lint-flow-patterns.ts covers node slots only, not the two flow-level keys. It is polish, noted in the PR's acceptance notes, and no card is filed. Skills-docs: none: no skill teaches the flow-level pair, and both docs pages are updated here.
  6. 落地条款: Tier S path. Owed before any landing stroke: green CI on the landing head, including Check Changeset reading the patched body; and a same-shape CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER PASS (packages/spec/src/** non-test, plus the (narrowing) declaration). This seat cannot serve that tier now and hands the review over below.

① Derived judgments

  1. What is newly refused, and where. Two keys, FlowSchema.successMessage and FlowSchema.errorMessage. Three doors now refuse what every one of them accepted before.
    • AutomationEngine.registerFlow, through validateFlowExpressions in flow-registration-checks.ts: for each slot flowTextSlotSources(flow) yields, first textSlotTemplateRefusal(source), then validateExpression('template', source). The thrown sentence is the existing registration sentence (Flow 'NAME' has 1 invalid expression (ADR-0032 §1a) ...) with the row flow errorMessage at errorMessage: A flow text slot reads ... template holes (ADR-0032 §3), not the single-brace ... dialect: ... so it is refused. Write ... as .... Read off the red check-run, not off prose.
    • validateStackExpressions in packages/lint/src/validate-expressions.ts (objectstack validate, compile, the publish gate): same two steps, severity error, where is flow 'NAME' flow successMessage, path is flows[i].successMessage.
    • The translation parse: the two flows.FLOW.successMessage / .errorMessage leaves in translation.zod.ts are now flowTextSlotTranslation(), so a single-brace token or a hole over an unbound $ root in a translated toast is refused at path ['flows', FLOW, key]. An empty string is still accepted.
Correct: all three doors call the one judge (textSlotTemplateRefusal) and the one compile. flowTextSlotSources is a source lister over FLOW_TEXT_SLOTS, not a second reading of the dialect. No regex copy anywhere in the diff.
  2. What is not refused. FlowSchema.parse still takes any string in both keys. The refusal is door-level only, as for every node text slot except end. The module docblock gives the reason (no door is missing after the parse for a top-level key). Consequence for a stored tenant flow carrying {x}: it canonicalizes, so the stored pass (os migrate meta --stored, meta.ts) does not mark it failed; registerFlow refuses it at boot with the sentence above and the flow is not registered. That is the path the node slots already take since [v18] flow text slots: read ADR-0032 §3's {{ }} delimiter instead of single-brace {token} (notify title/message and the other flow string slots), converting only what renders the same #22110. Not new to this PR, but it is the whole blast radius of the narrowing and the record names it.
  3. Meaning shift. A {{ x }} hole that was literal text (the old docblock: {var} is NOT interpolated) now renders over the run's variables. Rendering happens at every terminal producer. Census of successMessage: / errorMessage: producers in packages/services/service-automation/src on the head: engine.ts (execute success and failure), dag-traversal.ts (executeWithoutRetry success and failure), run-resume.ts (resumeInternal success and the stranded exit), engine.ts retryExecution (the exhausted exit reports the last attempt's rendering). No raw copy remains. map-node.ts and subflow-node.ts only mention the keys in comments and forward nothing.
  4. Who breaks (measured on the head tree). Flows carrying either key: examples/app-crm/src/flows/convert-lead.flow.ts (plain text, no brace) and hotcrm src/marketing/flows/campaign-enrollment.flow.ts ('Eligible members enrolled in campaign.', no brace). Translations under flows.*: examples/app-crm/src/translations/crm.translation.ts crm_convert_lead_wizard (two plain sentences). Every braced successMessage hit in examples/**, packages/platform-objects/** and hotcrm is an action's successMessage, a different schema that is already a template since feat(spec)!: an action's description, param helpText and outcomeMessages are {{ }} template slots; ${…} refused at publish #28463; none is a flow's. Skills: no page under skills/** teaches the flow pair; skills/objectstack-api/SKILL.md line 375 says errorMessage? is "the flow author's text", still true. Docs prose: content/docs/automation/flows.mdx flips the "not interpolated" cell; the four reference pages are regenerated. First-party reach 0 holds for stored flows and bundles.
  5. One break the census missed, and it is red on this head — must-fix. packages/verify/src/automation-trigger-terminal-messages.test.ts (unchanged by the diff) pins the OLD contract end to end: carries both VERBATIM — no templating, no trimming, no escaping registers a flow whose errorMessage and successMessage are a hostile string beginning {amount} items ... and asserts byte identity on the wire. On the head, registerFlow refuses that flow with the new sentence (flow errorMessage at errorMessage: A flow text slot reads ... template holes). The check-run Test Core (5/8) (run 41320794111, job 124891119537) is failure with exactly this one test red (Test Files 1 failed | 47 passed, Tests 1 failed | 400 passed), and the aggregate Test Core is failure on it. The same shard is success on the merge-base d62d973734 (run 41320663227), so this is not a base signature. The pin's docblock names flows.mdx's "{var} explicitly NOT interpolated" as its acceptance criterion; the PR changes that contract, so the pin must be re-written to the new one (a hostile string with no closed single-brace token stays byte-identical on the wire; a {amount} token is refused at registerFlow; a {{ amount }} hole renders the trigger param). The dev's 112 dispatch gates, the service-automation, spec, lint and app-shell suites and the dogfood battery do not include @objectstack/verify, which is why it went unseen.
  6. Check-runs on cccbc85418 (74). Red: Test Core (5/8) and Test Core, this PR's (item 5). Cancelled: one Check Changeset (run 41323636389), superseded sixty-six seconds later by Check Changeset success (run 41323725619) on the same head after the seat's body patch; not a red. Everything else success or skipped (opt-in and matrix placeholders). Nothing pending; the commit-status API reports no statuses. auto_merge is null, so no disarm is owed.
  7. Console. The client overlay of flows.FLOW.successMessage / .errorMessage is removed; launchConsoleFlow takes language, interpretFlowResponse takes a locale string, FlowCopyLocale and translatedFlowMessage are gone. Every in-tree caller is updated (Type Check UI, Test UI green). The separate objectui repository is archived (its README points at ui/ here), so no out-of-tree consumer of the removed parameter exists.

② Semver level

  • .changeset/28054-flow-message-template.md: @objectstack/spec, @objectstack/service-automation, @objectstack/lint, @object-ui/app-shell at minor; BREAKING banner; Clause-②: no (narrowing) and Metadata-protocol: narrowed at line start; title carries !. Under AGENTS.md step 3 a refused value is narrowed and a kind takes at least minor on a package the diff moves, so minor is the declared level, not major. check-changeset-no-major and Check Changeset are green. Consistent.
  • ADR-0087 marker: not-required (no-migration-prescription). Judged right, and for a reason the precedent makes sharp. feat(spec)!: an action's description, param helpText and outcomeMessages are {{ }} template slots; ${…} refused at publish #28463 (7e3822cab3) REGISTERED a conversion because ${x} to {{ x }} on an action's copy slots is lossless: both spellings were holes. Here a single-brace token in these two keys was literal text until this PR (the old docblock says so), so rewriting {x} to {{ x }} would change what the author wrote rather than preserve it, and a literal {{ has no escape form in a text slot. No lossless conversion exists, which is ADR-0087 D2's "refused, not converted" as the slot module already states for [v18] flow text slots: read ADR-0032 §3's {{ }} delimiter instead of single-brace {token} (notify title/message and the other flow string slots), converting only what renders the same #22110. The changeset's Before / Now / remedy prose is a remedy, not a FROM-to-TO rewrite prescription; the gate (check-adr-0087-registration, which refuses the exemption on a prescription) is green. No registered migration is owed.
  • dropped-refinements.baseline.json +22 sites (the two leaves under eleven published schemas) is the same dropped .refine() the sibling screens.title / description and refusals.message leaves carry. liveness/translation.json repoints two rows to engine.ts and keeps them live. Both ledgers match the code.

③ Boundary flags

  • open_questions[0] (keep yes (widening) or re-declare (narrowing)): answered by the seat in 6560302987, re-declared no (narrowing) / narrowed. Agreed: the doors refuse inputs they took, and clause2-line.mjs reserves yes (narrowing) for a diff that also widens. The os-dev-report's widening reading is superseded.
  • Deviation: a terminal message that cannot render is dropped with one warning, not thrown. Accepted. The doors compile the authored template, so at a terminal exit only a currency hole meeting no tenant default can throw; the run has ended and its verdict stands. A translated template that does not compile falls back to the authored text with a warning (renderFlowTextSlot), so raw holes never reach a user.
  • Deviation: FlowRunner.flowsTranslation-12075.test.tsx re-pinned to the served string. Accepted; it asserts the bundle template is not drawn over the filled sentence.
  • Deviation: origin/main merged once (to 9182ff62b2), main moved after. Merge-base is d62d973734; the diff is clean against it.
  • out_of_scope_findings: the lint-flow-patterns.ts bare-$ advisory covers node slots only. The refusing half (a hole over an unbound $ root) does reach the flow slots through textSlotTemplateRefusal; only the advisory hint is missing. Polish, no card owed.
  • independent_review: none run (quota): this record is that review.
  • Not flagged by the dev, found here: the @objectstack/verify pin (① item 5). Escalated as the must-fix below.
  • Should-fix (wording): FLOW_TEXT_SLOTS labels are flow successMessage / flow errorMessage, so the diagnostics read flow 'enrol' flow successMessage (lint) and flow successMessage at successMessage (registerFlow), a doubled word in both. The node slots read node 'n' (end) end message at config.message. Drop the flow prefix from the label or from the composed where. Pinned by validate-expressions.test.ts, so the pin moves with it.

④ Design judgment

  • packages/spec/src/automation/flow-text-slot-template.ts. FLOW_TEXT_SLOTS and flowTextSlotSources(flow) mirror FLOW_NODE_TEXT_SLOTS / flowNodeTextSlotSources; the test pins the key list equal to FLOW_TERMINAL_MESSAGE_KEYS, so the slot list and the translation face are one list. Holds against the card's Wanted list (judged at the node-slot doors) and against the feat(spec)!: an action's description, param helpText and outcomeMessages are {{ }} template slots; ${…} refused at publish #28463 precedent's two-step pattern (judge, then compile). One difference from the precedent: an action's bare string parses into a { dialect: 'template', source } envelope; here the key stays z.string() and is judged at the doors. That is the flow node slots' convention, not the actions', and the docblock says why. Acceptable.
  • packages/spec/src/automation/flow.zod.ts. Docblock and describes flipped; shape unchanged. The describe names the render point and the {{ }} grammar without restating the judge. Holds.
  • packages/spec/src/contracts/automation-service.ts. AutomationResult.successMessage / errorMessage say rendered, in the run's locale. Matches every producer in ① item 3. Holds.
  • packages/spec/src/api/automation-api.zod.ts. TriggerFlowResponseSchema.successMessage / errorMessage and FlowFailureDetailsSchema.errorMessage stay z.string().optional(); only the describes change, so the published wire shape is unchanged and the regenerated automation-api.mdx follows. Holds.
  • packages/spec/src/system/i18n-resolver.ts. flowTerminalMessageKey(flow, key) spells flows.FLOW.successMessage as flowScreenCopyKey and flowRefusalMessageKey spell theirs; FlowTerminalMessageKey is exported for the engine. translateFlow still overlays the two keys on a flow document; since a translation is now a template like its source, that overlay is template over template and stays coherent. Holds.
  • packages/spec/src/system/translation.zod.ts. The two leaves join the one flowTextSlotTranslation() factory, so a translated toast is judged exactly as its source and as the screen and refusal leaves. The existing app-crm zh-CN toasts pass it. Holds.
  • Break attempts on the slot. The scope a hole reads is textTemplateScope(variables) (builtin/template.ts): the flow's declared variables, record / $record and the triggering record's own fields, previous, $runId, $flowName, $flowLabel, node outputs under their flat keys, and $error at a failure. grep of every variables.set( in the package shows no credential, user, tenant setting or environment value bound into the map; currency rides the engine's reserved channel, not a root. This is the same scope the refusing end node's message and a screen description already read, so the two new slots expose nothing a text slot could not already name. Cross-record data appears only where the author's own nodes bind it. The renderer emits plain text; the console hands the served string to the toast as text (no innerHTML in the touched files) and the API carries it as a JSON string, so there is no escaping gap.
  • Translated messages carrying slots. renderFlowTerminalMessage hands the slot to renderFlowTextSlot, which picks the translation in AutomationContext.locale through translatedFlowTemplate (service miss echoes the key and is read as no translation), renders it, and falls back to the authored template on a compile failure with a warning. The resume path uses the persisted context's locale. The service tests pin zh-CN success and failure, no locale, and a locale the bundle lacks. Holds.
  • Retry. retryExecution passes the dispatched definition's errorMessage template into each attempt and reports the last attempt's rendering, so the exhausted exit is filled from the run that failed last, under the definition the dispatch started with. Holds.
  • The one failure of the design against its tree: the contract this PR replaces is pinned end to end in @objectstack/verify, and the tree on this head does not pass its own suite there (① item 5). A narrowing that leaves the old contract's pin in place and red is not landable.

Must-fix. Re-write packages/verify/src/automation-trigger-terminal-messages.test.ts to the new contract so Test Core (5/8) is green on the landing head: the verbatim case must use a hostile string with no closed single-brace token (padding, quotes, &, > stay byte-identical), add the refusal of {amount} at registerFlow on the trigger path, and add a {{ amount }} hole rendering the trigger param on the wire. Update the file's docblock, which still cites flows.mdx's retired sentence. Then ① item 5 and the two red checks clear.

Should-fix. The doubled flow ... flow successMessage wording in the door diagnostics (③, last bullet).

…wire; name the flow-level slot once

The trigger-path pin asserted the old verbatim contract with a single-brace
token, which registerFlow now refuses. It now pins three cases on the wire: a
brace-free hostile string byte for byte, a filled double-brace hole, and the
single-brace spelling refused at registration. The two doors' diagnostics no
longer repeat the word flow for the flow-level slots.

席位核对 · delta for the FAIL 6561130776 · card #28054 · 2026-11-01T17:27Z

The new head is 5db38c6984, one commit over the reviewed cccbc85418 (6 files, +75 / −30). It is nothing but the record's must-fix and should-fix, plus one comment-only change:

  1. Must-fix (the Test Core (5/8) red). packages/verify/src/automation-trigger-terminal-messages.test.ts is rewritten to the new contract:
    • A hostile string with no brace token (' Items — "R&D" & 5 > 3, kept verbatim ') comes back byte-identical on both the 400 and the 200 wire answers.
    • A {{ amount }} hole renders the real trigger param on the wire (' 42 items — … ', other bytes unchanged).
    • Single-brace {amount} is refused at registerFlow on the trigger path, once for each key, and the refusal names {{ amount }}.
    • The docblock now states the new contract.
    • Root cause: the old case's first token was {amount}, so registration threw the PR's new refusal before the assertion ran. That was a pin of the semantic this PR flips, not a code defect. It reproduced locally as 1 failed / 3 passed on the old file.
  2. Should-fix (doubled "flow"). flow-registration-checks.ts now reads where from the slot label (flow successMessage: …), and validate-expressions.ts composes flow 'NAME' successMessage. Their pins in validate-expressions.test.ts and flow-terminal-message-template.test.ts move with them.
  3. Pin sweep. In i18n-resolver.ts, two FlowLike JSDoc lines said "served verbatim". They now say rendered. This is comment-only, and there is no generated drift. Every other successMessage: '…{' in the repo is action-level (feat(spec)!: an action's description, param helpText and outcomeMessages are {{ }} template slots; ${…} refused at publish #28463), a different schema.

Dev runs at 5db38c6984, each exit code recorded on its own:

Run Exit Result
verify 0 48 files / 403 tests
service-automation 0 252 files / 3214 tests
lint 0 184 files / 7722 tests
spec 0 785 files / 23209 tests
check:generated 0
typecheck (service-automation, lint) 0

Trap for the record: dispatch-gates did not derive packages/verify, which holds the wire pin of this contract.

Delta record. This is the same reviewer's delta review of the FAIL in comment 6561130776 on head cccbc8541838352a617988ba6c58a5e640d4a4b2. It is scoped to the interdiff from that head to 5db38c6984c22d07ce726fd1c0641b0bb1128fb2 plus the files the interdiff makes claims about. The full review's ①, ② and ④ judgments are carried forward where the delta does not touch them, and this record says where it does. Face unchanged: schema plus the declared narrowing. PR author is still objectstack-fleet[bot], so no login note is owed.

Interdiff

  • The compare API reports ahead_by: 1, behind_by: 0, total_commits: 1. The one commit is 5db38c6984 with the single parent cccbc85418. No merge of main came in, so no main hunk needs re-reading.
  • Six files, +75 / −30, exactly the lane note's list: packages/verify/src/automation-trigger-terminal-messages.test.ts (+63/−21), flow-registration-checks.ts (+4/−1), validate-expressions.ts (+2/−1), validate-expressions.test.ts (+1/−1), flow-terminal-message-template.test.ts (+3/−4), i18n-resolver.ts (+2/−2). No other file moved. The PR file list is now 37 files, the 36 of the full review plus the verify test.

① Derived judgments

  1. Must-fix closed in the tree. The verify test now pins the new contract on the wire, through the real dispatcher and the real engine, as before:
    • PLAIN_HOSTILE (two spaces of padding at each end, double quotes, an ampersand and a greater-than sign in the middle) has no brace token. The 400 answer carries it at error.details.errorMessage and the 200 answer at data.successMessage, both with toBe on the constant, plus the leading-padding and trailing-padding regexes. Byte identity is asserted, not a substring.
    • HOSTILE carries a {{ amount }} hole. The flow declares amount as an input variable (amountInput: true) and the trigger body supplies { amount: 42 }. Both wire answers are asserted equal to HOSTILE_RENDERED (' 42 items — … '), and the test spells out that {{ is gone, 42 items leads after the padding, and the trailing padding survives.
    • SINGLE_BRACE ({amount}) is refused at registerFlow, once per key. The pin asserts toThrow with the substring flow successMessage: A flow text slot reads (and the errorMessage twin), and a second toThrow on the {{ amount }} spelling. I read the row composer: refuse pushes • ${where}: ${message} and where is now slot.label, which is flow successMessage / flow errorMessage from FLOW_TEXT_SLOTS; the message leads with TEXT_SLOT_TEMPLATE_REFUSAL, whose first words are A flow text slot reads. The pin matches the code as written.
    • The docblock's old paragraph (Verbatim is contract too, citing the retired {var} NOT interpolated sentence of flows.mdx) is replaced by Rendered, and otherwise byte for byte (#28054), which states the three cases and the registration refusal. The acceptance criterion is now the shipped contract.
    • The no messages declared and the two plain-text cases are unchanged and still green by construction.
  2. Test Core (5/8) is green on the new head. Check-run Test Core (5/8) on 5db38c6984 is completed / success (run 41330201162, job 124918963349). The job log shows @objectstack/verify:test: ✓ src/automation-trigger-terminal-messages.test.ts (6 tests) and Test Files 48 passed (48) for the package. So the shard still runs the verify suite and the suite is green on this head. The aggregate Test Core is success.
  3. Check-runs on 5db38c6984 (65). 58 success, 7 skipped, nothing failure, nothing cancelled, nothing pending. The skips are the opt-in and matrix placeholders (18.x upgrade harness (opt-in), Packed-tarball smoke (opt-in), Dogfood Verify CLI, Dogfood Regression Gate matrix placeholder, Temporal Conformance, UI Published Artifacts, Schedule gate), the same set the full review read as skipped. Check Changeset, Governed Surface Queue Guard, Spec property liveness, Build Docs, Flag docs affected by code changes and every lint, type-check and UI shard are success. The commit-status API reports zero statuses. auto_merge is null and the PR is still draft, so no disarm is owed.
  4. Carried forward from the full review. ① items 1 to 4 and 7 stand, with one wording update to item 1: the diagnostics it quoted (flow errorMessage at errorMessage and flow 'NAME' flow successMessage) are now flow errorMessage and flow 'NAME' successMessage. The judgment that each door calls the one judge and the one compile is unchanged; neither hunk touches the judge, the compile, the slot list or the path a finding carries. ① item 5 (the red verify pin) closes here. ① item 6 (the old head's check-runs) is superseded by item 3 above.

② Semver level

Untouched by the delta. No changeset, baseline, ledger or schema shape moved; the interdiff is two test files, two diagnostics strings, one test re-pin and two JSDoc lines. Check Changeset and the ADR-0087 gate are green on the new head. The full review's ② stands as written.

③ Boundary flags

  • Should-fix closed. flow-registration-checks.ts now reads where from the slot label alone, so the row is flow successMessage: … and the at successMessage clause is gone. The comment says why the node slots keep their at config.… clause (the node label does not name the path; the flow label does). validate-expressions.ts composes flow 'NAME' ${slot.path}, so flow is said once. The node-slot rows (flow 'NAME' · node 'id' (type) … in lint, node 'id' (type) … at config.… in registration) are not touched.
  • Its pins moved with it. validate-expressions.test.ts now expects where to be flow 'enrol' ${key}. flow-terminal-message-template.test.ts now expects the registration refusal to contain • flow successMessage: ${refusal} and • flow errorMessage: ${compiled}, which is stricter than the two loose toContain calls it replaces (it pins the row shape, not two fragments). I searched the head patch of every PR file for the old doubled wording and the old at successMessage clause: none remains. Lint and the service-automation suites are green across Test Core.
  • Comment-only change widens nothing. The two FlowLike JSDoc lines in i18n-resolver.ts said served verbatim as AutomationResult.successMessage; they now say the value is a {{ }} template the engine renders. That brings the interface's prose in line with the AutomationResult contract the full review's ④ already judged. No type, export or exports map changes; Spec property liveness, Governed Surface Queue Guard and Build Docs are green, and no PR file still adds the words served verbatim.
  • Other touched lines. The three new comments in flow-registration-checks.ts and validate-expressions.ts explain the where shape. The verify test adds an optional amountInput flag to its boot helper. Nothing else is touched. No new refusal, no new acceptance, no widening.
  • The full review's other ③ flags (narrowing declaration, the three accepted deviations, the bare-$ advisory, independent_review: none run) stand. The lane note's remark that dispatch-gates did not derive packages/verify is a tooling gap outside this PR's contract; the full review already named why the pin went unseen.

④ Design judgment

Carried forward. The delta touches one hits file, packages/spec/src/system/i18n-resolver.ts, in two JSDoc lines only; the full review's bullet on that file (the key spellers, the export of FlowTerminalMessageKey, template over template in translateFlow) holds and its prose now matches. The door changes are to the where string a refusal carries, not to what is refused, so the slot module's design (one judge, one compile, one slot list) is as judged. The one design failure the full review named, a tree that did not pass its own @objectstack/verify suite, is cleared: the pin now states the new contract and is green on this head.

Must-fix. None.

Should-fix. None.
