Fixes #24468

Clause-②: no (narrowing) (the save door newly refuses a validation rule it accepted; owes one CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER review, on the narrowing face, before the queue)

Dispatched by the domain:engine seat 1 PM (claim 6262728643, session_01JtSQQ3EWsbNPzyYMug1tXy). Developer session: session_01XPyxHgkHDoFuEza6RvCJtd. This is the predicate-seam twin of #24410 (PR #24466, 45bec43cd9), and it follows that PR's pattern.

What changes

Engine: per-rule isolation (packages/objectql). resolvePredicateRelated reads, per reference, the union of the related columns every validation rule reads. When one column was undeclared on the target, resolveOneHopRelated answered the whole reference undeclared-field. Every rule through that lookup then had no verdict and refused the write, naming the other rule's field.

  • resolvePredicateRelated now takes the undeclared columns out of the shared read, using the shared undeclaredRelatedFields helper (no second definition of "declared"). It lists them on the binding as undeclaredFields. The loader reads the declared rest under authority: 'predicate', with the same bound as before.
  • resolveTraversalScope (validation/rule-validator.ts, the binding's consumer) first refuses a rule only for its OWN undeclared columns, naming only those. A rule naming none of them is judged on the row exactly as it is alone.
  • A reference whose every read column is undeclared still gets a binding (unavailable: 'undeclared-field'), so no rule meets a bare id.
  • ⛔ Not moved: the formula seam (resolveFormulaRelated, formulaHopScope), resolveOneHopRelated, and the predicate read's authority and bound. No undeclared column enters the system-authority read.

Lint: save-door refusal (packages/lint, the domain:spec rider declared in 6262742638). refuseUndeclaredHopField (#24410) now also runs in check() wherever traversalHydration is set. Those are a script / cross_field rule's condition, at the top level and inside a conditional's then / otherwise. It judges the hop column against the target's field index (declared fields, injected columns and id) under the existing expression-invalid rule, with no new code.

  • The message opens with the shared validator's "unknown field" words, naming the column and the target, then names the reference read. Its consequence clause is per site: a rule "has no verdict and every write it judges is refused". The formula message is byte-identical to before.
  • One body serves os validate, os build and the object save door.
  • A target the stack does not carry is not judged: a missed catch, never a false refusal.
  • A reference read more than one hop deep is left to the traversal checks' own refusal (one finding, not two). This applies to the formula site too, where it only removes a duplicate finding on an expression already refused.

Census rows. objectql federated-injected-column-readers.test.ts gets one row for the new engine use, engine.ts#resolvePredicateRelated :: referenceTargetOf() → caller-predicate. packages/core's [#22661] census is per file, and both caller files (engine.ts, validate-expressions.ts) already have rows. pnpm --filter @objectstack/core test:repo passed 82/82.

Measurement (M, booted composition: packages/qa/dogfood/test/rule-hop-undeclared-related-field.dogfood.test.ts)

Fixture: rrh_order with a lookup account to rrh_account (declares status). It carries two script rules: open_account reads record.account.status, which is declared, and north_only reads record.account.region, which is not.

Reading Before (45bec43cd9) After (69f76c6ef)
PUT /meta/object/rrh_order_saved with both rules 200 (saved) 422 INVALID_METADATA, one expression-invalid issue at validation 'north_only', message opens "unknown field region on rrh_account"
Control: same PUT with only open_account 200 200
Control: open_account alone, open / closed account 201 / 400 with its own message 201 / 400 with its own message
Stored copy, open account 400: BOTH rules "could not be evaluated ('rrh_account' declares no 'region')" 400: only north_only, naming region; open_account absent
Stored copy, closed account not reached (the pin stopped at the open-account row) 400: open_account's own message, plus north_only's refusal

The before run on 45bec43cd9 had 3 of 4 pins red. The save door answered 200, and the stored copy's open-account write was refused with open_account "could not be evaluated ... declares no 'region'". The control's red was the pin's own 200 vs 201 create status, corrected before the after run. The after run is 4/4, with the #24410 formula pin also green (7/7).

Ablations (each through scripts/ablation-replace.mjs, ablation-dist-preflight.mjs marker present in dist, restored to the HEAD blob with git diff HEAD empty, then rebuilt with the marker absent from dist):

  • A, per-rule isolation (the named.delete of the undeclared columns removed in resolvePredicateRelated). 3 engine pins red (engine-predicate-relationship.test.ts, the [#24468] block), and the booted sibling pin red.
  • B, lint refusal (the refuseUndeclaredHopField(..., 'rule') call removed). 3 lint pins red (validate-expressions.rule-one-hop.test.ts, and both LIT pins in runtime-gate.object-validation-writes.test.ts), and the booted save-door pin red.
  • Restore: git status --porcelain clean, both markers absent from dist, booted pin 4/4.

Pins

  • packages/objectql/src/engine-predicate-relationship.test.ts, [#24468] block, on the real engine:
    • the valid sibling admits when it admits alone, and refuses with its own message;
    • the bad rule names only not_a_column;
    • one system read, projecting ['id', 'type'].
  • packages/objectql/src/validation/rule-relationship-traversal.test.ts, [#24468] block, on the binding contract: verdicts per rule; the bad rule names only its own field when the binding lists two; a fully undeclared reference still refuses.
  • packages/lint/src/validate-expressions.rule-one-hop.test.ts, on the build:
    • refusal naming field and target;
    • id and created_at admitted;
    • a target outside the stack not judged.
  • packages/lint/src/runtime-gate.object-validation-writes.test.ts, #24468 block, at the save door:
    • a target from another package in the closure, beside its valid sibling;
    • a nested conditional → then;
    • the control.
  • packages/lint/src/validate-expressions.test.ts: the #5017 receiver census registers the refusal's analysis local as plumbing.
  • packages/qa/dogfood/test/rule-hop-undeclared-related-field.dogfood.test.ts: the booted pin above. Test-only; declared to domain:cli by the seat at review.

Pin sweep. The whole-reference undeclared-field verdict for a rule is pinned in two places, and both still hold:

  • rule-relationship-traversal.test.ts hands a single-rule binding by hand.
  • engine-predicate-relationship.test.ts "never smuggles an UNDECLARED field" has one rule, whose own field is undeclared.

No other test asserts the sibling refusal.

Other predicate surfaces that read through a lookup

Probed with validateStackExpressions:

  • Not reached, and not needed: a field-rule slot (requiredWhen) or an option visibleWhen through a lookup is already refused whole at save. Nothing hydrates there; the message says "a field-level predicate never reads the related record". This pass does not run there.
  • Not reached: a conditional rule's when is opted out of hydration by the existing walk (checkConditional evaluates it unhydrated), so this pass does not judge it. See the acceptance notes.

Verification (final head 69f76c6ef; merge of origin/main 959ee317b at 0453ca518)

  • Build: turbo run build --filter=@objectstack/dogfood^... --filter=@objectstack/dogfood exited 0 (66 tasks) on the merged tree. The 8 extra dists that check:dual-build-cjs-loads needed also built, exit 0.
  • pnpm --filter @objectstack/objectql test: 446 files, 8387 tests passed.
  • pnpm --filter @objectstack/lint test: 146 files, 6885 tests passed on 69f76c6ef. The first run, on 0453ca518, failed one test: the receiver census's analysis, fixed in 69f76c6ef.
  • Dogfood: the rule and formula hop pins, 7/7.
  • typecheck: objectql exit 0, lint exit 0 (both include their check:test-typecheck leg; their tsc excludes tests), dogfood exit 0 (its tsc --listFiles includes the new pin).
  • pnpm --filter @objectstack/core test:repo: 6 files, 82 tests passed.
  • node scripts/pm/dispatch-gates.mjs --commands (no paths) derived 76 commands. All 76 ran on 0453ca518; 75 exited 0. check:dual-build-cjs-loads exited 3 (PREREQUISITE NOT MET: 8 dists missing), was built for, and re-ran with exit 0.
  • After 69f76c6ef (one lint test file), the derivation is identical. Re-ran: check:cross-package-test-inputs, check:test-source-alias, check:type-check-coverage, check:type-check-debt, check:nul-bytes, check:issue-citations, check:tier-file-adoption, and the three changeset gates. All exited 0.
  • --ran reconciliation: 76 derived, 76 run, 0 NOT-MEASURED, 0 UNRUN.
  • origin/main moved to 7e58e0a27 after the merge: one packages/cli test budget, no overlap, not merged.

Changesets

  • @objectstack/lint minor, fix(lint)!:, BREAKING (an accept-set narrowing), with Clause-②: no (narrowing). Its ADR-0087 marker is not-required (no-migration-prescription). It carries a FROM → TO and a "What to do".
  • @objectstack/objectql patch, Clause-②: no with no arm.

Acceptance notes

… rule, not per reference

resolvePredicateRelated takes the columns a reference's target does not
declare out of the shared predicate read and lists them on the binding;
resolveTraversalScope refuses a rule only for its own undeclared columns, so
a valid sibling rule through the same lookup keeps the verdict it gives
alone. The loader, its authority and its bound are unchanged.

…t does not declare

The validation-rule pass now judges the column a hydrated rule condition
reads one hop through a reference against the target's field index
(declared fields, injected columns and id), under the existing
expression-invalid rule, naming the field and the target. One body with the
formula pass's refuseUndeclaredHopField, for os validate, os build and the
object save door. A reference read more than one hop deep is left to the
traversal checks' own refusal.

📓 Docs Drift Check

5 anchor(s) derived from 2 changed package(s); no hand-written page names any of them, so this run has nothing to list — not a clean bill of health. This check sees only pages that NAME a derived anchor: one that documents this change in prose, or enumerates it in an authoring dialect, names none and stays invisible to it on every run.

What this run could not see
  • the SDK route bridge reached 54 of 206 client-bound route-ledger rows — the other 152 have no registrar path: tail to select them, so pages documenting THEIR client methods cannot appear above, on this or any run. Of those 152: 0 are remediable by widening that discovery convention (an in-repo file declares the path; the convention did not scan it); 55 are structural — on a ledger where NOT ONE row is declared in-repo, so no discovery change reaches them at any price; 97 are undecided (no in-repo declaration, on a ledger that has other in-repo registrars — absence and an unreadable spelling are not distinguishable here). The rows themselves: node scripts/docs-audit/affected-docs.mjs --bridge-coverage
  • a page that states a rule by its inputs shares no identifier with the emitter that implements the rule, so an emitter-only diff cannot list it — not on this run and not on any run. Measured on fix(driver-sql): emit varchar(maxLength) for a text field a declared index keys on #11430: content/docs/protocol/objectql/types.mdx documents the text-family column mapping by the ObjectQL type names it maps FROM (text / textarea / html) while the diff changed createColumn; it went unlisted, and it was the page that diff falsified, in four places. No shared token exists to detect this on, so a rule your change carries has to be re-read by hand in the pages that restate it.
  • a key NAME is not a key, so the hand re-read the line above prescribes can land on the wrong schema. The same spelling is authorable on one governed type and a [REMOVED] tombstone on another for each of active, aria, joins, objects, template, tools and version (censused on [finding] tools is a key on BOTH AgentSchema (tombstoned, dead) and SkillSchema (live, cloud-attested), so a name-based search attributes skill examples to the agent key — it produced a false stop-the-line alarm on PR #19059 #19093 over the liveness ledger's governed types, top-level keys); nothing in a search result distinguishes the two, so a grep hit on a LIVE example reads as evidence about the DEAD key. Measured on fix(spec): the agent.tools liveness row says dead — it claimed live on a key the schema tombstoned #19059: content/docs/ai/agents.mdx was reported as contradicting the agent.tools tombstone over its tools: example at :161, which is inside the defineSkill({ block opened at :155 — the page was already correct. Settle ownership by PARSING the value against both schemas, never by the name: that literal PASSES SkillSchema, and as an AgentSchema it FAILS at tools with the tombstone prescription. ⛔ These names are not the whole class — a key retired through a .strict() guidance map leaves no tombstone in the walked shape and none of them here (tool.category, live as AIToolDefinition.category).

Coarse fallback — 21 page(s) merely mention a changed package (the pre-#9192 predicate, kept for the deliberately-wide backstop): node scripts/docs-audit/affected-docs.mjs --json 7e58e0a27998194640c145344b7519f1ccc9fad4 → packageMentionDocs.

Which tree this was computed on

This run read content/docs from 57b6c06cdf356dcb0fab67aeec303dbcf5a8494a — the merge of head 69f76c6ef1a3e64bd6c7d1c8faaea31f84d3686b into base 7e58e0a27998194640c145344b7519f1ccc9fad4, which is what actions/checkout gives a pull_request run. Not the PR head.

A worktree cut from an older main holds a different content/docs, so re-deriving there can legitimately return a different list — that is a different tree, not a wrong row. To answer on the same tree:

# while this PR is open — GitHub drops the merge commit once it closes
git fetch origin 57b6c06cdf356dcb0fab67aeec303dbcf5a8494a && git checkout 57b6c06cdf356dcb0fab67aeec303dbcf5a8494a
# afterwards, rebuild it from the two parents, which stay fetchable
git fetch origin 7e58e0a27998194640c145344b7519f1ccc9fad4 69f76c6ef1a3e64bd6c7d1c8faaea31f84d3686b && git checkout -B drift-repro 7e58e0a27998194640c145344b7519f1ccc9fad4 && git merge --no-ff 69f76c6ef1a3e64bd6c7d1c8faaea31f84d3686b

node scripts/docs-audit/affected-docs.mjs --json 7e58e0a27998194640c145344b7519f1ccc9fad4

⚠️ That checkout carried uncommitted changes, so the commit above does not fully identify what was read.

Check-runs on the head, four reads. First (about 09:10Z): 38 runs, 17 success, 6 skipped, 15 in progress. Second (09:18:53Z) and third (09:21:49Z): 40 runs, 28 success, 6 skipped, the six Test Core shards in progress. Final (09:28:29Z): 40 runs, 32 success, 6 skipped by design (Build Docs, Console Pin Gate, the three Dogfood Regression Gate shards, Dogfood Verify CLI, Packed-tarball smoke, Temporal Conformance), 2 still in progress: Test Core (2/6) and Test Core (4/6) (started 09:08:16Z); Test Core (1/6), (3/6), (5/6) and (6/6) concluded success (09:23–09:27Z); the aggregate Test Core has not yet appeared. No run has concluded failure. Green at the final read, among them: Build Core, TypeScript Type Check, Lint & Repo Gates, Governed Surface Queue Guard, Check Changeset, every Lint job (CI/release/engine gates, ESLint, repo & tooling gates, docs & code guards, PM dispatch-gates, the three scoped jobs), Type Check source/consumer/debt/workspace, Spec property liveness, Dogfood Regression Gate (its three shards skipped on a pull_request run: ci.yml's two speeds), Flag docs affected by code changes, Check PR Size, Check Documentation Links, and the three claim and card guards. The runs were taken on the merge of 69f76c6ef into the PR's base 7e58e0a27 (the docs-drift comment names 57b6c06cdf as that merge), so the one main commit the dev did not merge is inside what they measured.

① Derived judgments

  1. The refusal, as implemented — RIGHT. refuseUndeclaredHopField (validate-expressions.ts 1998–2027 at the head) takes a site and is now called from check() (2209) under objectName && traversalHydration, right after refuseStoredMetadataBodyHop, and from judgeFieldFormula (2932) with 'formula'. check() receives traversalHydration at exactly two call sites: a rule's top-level condition (2793, true) and a nested predicate whose slot === 'condition' (2812) — a script / cross_field rule's condition inside a conditional's then / otherwise at any depth (rulePredicates, 559–581). A when, top-level (2798) or nested (2812 with slot when), passes no hydration and is not judged. That set is the engine's hydration set exactly: collectPredicateRelationships (rule-validator.ts 548–570) collects script / cross_field conditions, recursing into conditional.then / otherwise and never into when; evaluateRule (3745–3760) hands ctx.related to checkPredicate for script / cross_field only; state_machine, format and json_schema take no hop; checkConditional (4653–4674) evaluates when on ruleScope(ctx.merged, ctx.previous), unhydrated. No rule type other than script / cross_field hydrates, and the lint judges those two and nothing else. The per-column verdict: column === 'id' || fieldIndex.get(target)?.includes(column) admits; a target fieldIndex has no entry for, or in the stored-metadata-body family, is skipped; the issue lands in the rule pass's issues under the existing expression-invalid rule — no new code, as the door pin (expressionFindings(result.errors)) and the booted pin (issues[].rule === 'expression-invalid') assert. The message opens with the shared validator's "unknown field COLUMN on TARGET" words, names the read (record.account), the target, the per-site consequence ("so the rule has no verdict and every write it judges is refused") and where not to declare it. One body serves os validate, os build and the door: the rule loop is "NOT fenced on an object write" (2781–2783) and the door's runRuntimeAuthoringRules runs the same pass (precedent 6260609012 ①.3, unchanged code).

  2. "Declared" is exactly declared fields + injected system columns + id — RIGHT, and it coincides with the loader's set. fieldIndex is buildFieldIndex(objects) (170–200): the authored field names, in either fields shape, union injectedColumnsFor(obj) = resolveInjectedSystemColumns(obj).names (system-fields.ts 74–75; injected-system-columns.ts 186–240: organization_id per tenancy, the audit provenance family, owner_id / owning_business_unit_id by ownership tier, no ownership anchors on sys_* or managedBy objects), plus id at the call (2018). The engine's "declared" on the predicate seam is this._registry.getObject(target).fields plus id (undeclaredRelatedFields, engine.ts 2677–2683), and the registry's field map carries the injected columns (applySystemFields, as 6260609012 ①.1 read it on the same code). So the door refuses exactly the rules whose hop column the loader answers undeclared-field — the rules that have no verdict and refuse every write today.

  3. Can a rule that WORKS today be refused? Judged per case:

    • an injected column on the target (record.account.created_at, record.account.owner_id): admitted — created_at pinned (rule-one-hop pin), the rest derived from the plan the registry itself injects. A bare record.account.owner is refused: owner is no injected column name (OWNER_COLUMN is owner_id), and the engine's 'owner' in declared refuses it today too — nothing working is lost. On a platform-global target organization_id stays admitted (the lint derives without platformGlobalObjects): a missed catch, never a refusal;
    • a field an extend contributor or an objectExtensions body adds to the target: at the door, admitted. The door's context.objects is listCollection('object', 'objects') over the live registry (protocol.ts 7414), whose getAllObjects → resolveObject(fqn) → foldExtenders (registry.ts 3413, 3426, 4369, 4387) is the merged object; buildRuntimeWriteSnapshots narrows that list (runtime-gate.ts 706–709) without unfolding. At os build / os validate the stack's authored objects are the index, so such a rule is refused at build although it evaluates at runtime — the same window the formula site has, stated in the lint changeset's "What to do" and carried from 6262025060 ②/③.5;
    • a target declared in another package of the closure: judged at the door (limb 4 of narrowObjectsToPackageClosure, 415–437, packageScope.dependencies) — pinned, fx_account from com.example.accounts beside its valid sibling, the LIT naming exactly one finding; at build, judged when the stack carries it;
    • a system-object target: carried at the door unconditionally (limb 1, isSystemObject); a user field's implicit sys_user is judged against sys_user's declared fields;
    • a target the snapshot does not carry: not judged (fieldIndex.has(target) false) — pinned (hop_elsewhere). A missed catch, never a false refusal;
    • case or label forms of a column (Status, Account Status): refused, exactly as the loader's n in declared refuses them at runtime — nothing working is lost;
    • a non-CEL dialect condition (js): celSourceOf (532–541) answers undefined, so it is not judged; the engine's celSourceOfSlot collects no hop from it either. Consistent;
    • a read more than one hop deep (record.account.owner.email): not judged here (analysis.multiHopFields.has(field)), refused by the traversal arm's multi-hop verdict — refused either way;
    • a conditional's when through a lookup: not judged (no hydration flag), and it faults at runtime — ③.10.
      Net: the save door newly refuses exactly the script / cross_field conditions whose one-hop column the predicate loader marks undeclared, each of which refuses every write today. No rule that evaluates on a real row is refused.
  4. Other predicate surfaces through the same hop. A field's requiredWhen / readonlyWhen / conditionalRequired and an option's visibleWhen that read through a reference are already refused WHOLE under expression-invalid by the field-level traversal refusal (fieldTraversalMessage, 1264–1295: "a field-level predicate never reads the related record ... faults on every row", prescribing a validations[] script rule); the CLI pin (validate-field-predicate-traversal.test.ts 168–185) shows the three slots refused and the same traversal in validations[] clean. Nothing hydrates there (collectPredicateRelationships' docblock: "the field level is not hydrated at all"), so this pass neither reaches them nor needs to. A conditional's when: checkConditional evaluates it unhydrated and the lint opts it out of the traversal checks (2795–2799) and, carrying no hydration flag, out of this check — the lint: a conditional validation rule's nested then / otherwise predicate is never validated, so os build passes and the object save door stores a predicate the top-level rule would refuse #22042 pin's topWhen case shows record.account.owner.email in a when saving with no finding. The dev's reading is right; the filing-gate question is answered in ③.10.

  5. The multi-hop skip at the FORMULA site — RIGHT, and no formula verdict moves. multiHopFields holds the first field of a record.a.b.c read (traversalsOf, relationship-traversal.ts 248–264). At the formula site judgeFieldFormula runs validateExpression('value', …, traversalHydration: true, fieldTypes) whose traversal arm (validate.ts 1131–1137 → findFormulaTraversalConflicts, relationship-traversal.ts 426–436) refuses every multi-hop read through a REFERENCE_VALUE_TYPES field — the same type set referenceTargetOf resolves a target for — so every field this check would have judged is already refused there. Before this diff, a multi-hop formula whose FIRST leaf was undeclared on the target earned two findings (the multi-hop refusal and "unknown field LEAF"); after it, one. A multi-hop formula whose first leaf is declared — the formula-one-hop pin's record.book.shelf.code, shelf declared on hop_book — earned one before and one after, which is why that pin's toHaveLength(1) always held. No accept changes, no refusal changes; only a second finding on an already-refused expression goes away. The formula message is byte-identical: the 'formula' arm of undeclaredHopFieldMessage (1783–1796) reassembles the previous string exactly ("…, and 'T' declares no field 'X', so the formula reads null on every row. Read a field 'T' declares, or declare 'X' on 'T' — not on 'O', the object carrying this formula."), and the unchanged formula-one-hop and object-formula-writes pins assert its opening and its prescription.

  6. The isolation — RIGHT, proven by the diff. resolvePredicateRelated (engine.ts 10207–10281): wanted is built fresh per call (collectPredicateRelationships allocates out anew, so the deletions mutate no shared state); per reference with a target — a stored-metadata-body target is left to the loader's own unreadable verdict — the registry target's fields are read and undeclaredRelatedFields splits the union; the missing columns are deleted from the shared set and recorded per reference; a reference left with nothing is dropped; the loader is called with the declared rest under 'predicate'. resolveOneHopRelated (10314–10500) has no hunk in this PR, so the record-access semantics stand byte for byte: bound = authority === 'predicate' && !caller?.isSystem, readsNothing under the wall, the caller's own read on a federated or tenant-less target, the [Decision] security(objectql): a validation rule that reads one hop through a master-detail FK still reads the header elevated, so an unreadable header's answer varies with its stored state after ruling A #22892 master-detail header door, the system-context read projecting ['id', ...named] and nothing more. Nothing undeclared enters the system read — before, the whole reference was skipped; now the declared subset is read, which is the read the valid rule gets alone. The wrapper spreads undeclaredFields onto each affected reference's binding and, where no declared column remained, binds { object, unavailable: 'undeclared-field' } so no rule meets a bare id. resolveTraversalScope (rule-validator.ts 4167–4232): after the shape conflicts, the new block intersects THIS rule's named columns with binding.undeclaredFields and refuses through traversalRefusal('undeclared-field', own) — summary "'T' declares no 'region'", naming only its own; a rule naming none proceeds to (2)/(3) and hydrates binding.row (or meets no-reference / unresolved / unreadable) exactly as it does alone; no binding at all keeps the pre-formula/objectql: relationship traversal in predicates — a validation rule or visibility predicate reads one hop through a lookup (record.crm_account.type); replaces the removed os.lookup declaration (#18318, batch #148) #18682 bare-id path. Pinned: the valid sibling admits and refuses as alone; the bad rule names only not_a_column; one system read projecting ['id', 'type']; two undeclared names on one binding and the bad rule names only its own; a fully undeclared reference still refuses. The inference channel the loader's docblock accepts does not widen: a sibling's verdict is now exactly its alone-verdict, so nothing is disclosed beyond the alone case. The formula seam does not move: resolveFormulaRelated (6287–6333), formulaHopScope (2713–2746), formulaHopRefusal and applyFormulaPlan have no hunk.

  7. The census rows. objectql federated-injected-column-readers.test.ts keys file#function :: seam(); its SEAM_CALLS (112–121) name referenceTargetOf and not isStoredMetadataBodyObject or getObject, so the new call inside resolvePredicateRelated is one new key and the one row added is the one owed. caller-predicate is not an ASKS disposition (those are skips / exempt / excludes), so its why is the reviewer's claim to check — "judges a validation rule's own hop against the target's declared field map; no row is read here" is true: the block reads the registry's field map and no row (rows are read in resolveOneHopRelated, whose own exempt rows stand). It is the class of its sibling resolveFormulaRelated row. packages/core's [#22661] census is per file: CALLERS is keyed by path (pin 127–245) and assertion (i) requires every non-test .ts under packages/ with a code-line call of referenceTargetOf to have a row. This diff adds calls only in engine.ts (row executes, whose also prose already names resolvePredicateRelated) and validate-expressions.ts (row not-a-served-read, formula lint admits a read of a field the related object does not declare; the read then nulls every formula through that lookup, valid siblings included #24410); rule-validator.ts's isReference call pre-exists with its row. No new caller FILE, no new row owed — the dev's reading holds.

  8. The pins — RIGHT and sufficient for the two halves. Lint: the refusal naming field and target; id and created_at admitted; an absent target not judged; the door with a cross-package target beside its valid sibling, a nested then, and the control. Objectql: the engine sibling served as alone both ways with one read, the validator's per-rule verdicts. Booted: 422 INVALID_METADATA with one expression-invalid issue at validation 'north_only'; the control saves 200; the valid rule alone 201 / 400; the stored copy judged per rule on open and closed accounts. No title states a value. The dogfood pin is selected by the isolated project's glob (vitest.config.ts: every test file minus SHARED_SHOWCASE), so it is not silently excluded — but on a pull_request run the three dogfood shards are skipped by design, so its 4/4 at this head is the dev's claim, re-measured by main's full battery after landing (③.13.d).

  9. Public surface and corpus. No export moves in either package; undeclaredHopFieldMessage and refuseUndeclaredHopField are closure-local; RelatedFieldBinding.undeclaredFields already existed, optional, and the interface is not re-exported from objectql's index. The card's two targets are met at this head. In-tree, exactly one shipped rule condition reads through a lookup: examples/app-showcase/src/data/objects/invoice.object.ts:191, record.account.status == 'churned', where account is a lookup to showcase_account (invoice.object.ts:73) and showcase_account declares status (account.object.ts:69) — admitted. No other condition line in examples, platform-objects, plugins, services, runtime or the scaffolding templates (non-test ts/yml/yaml/json) reads record.X.Y. The sibling test fixtures that traverse — cli trav_account.tier, plugin-security qa_line.kind, os_ehr_line.kind, crm_account.type — declare the column or carry one rule per reference, so neither half moves their verdicts.

② Semver level

  • @objectstack/lint minor with fix(lint)!:, **BREAKING**, the launch-window sentence, Clause-②: no (narrowing) at the start of a line, the adr-0087: not-required (no-migration-prescription) comment marker, a FROM → TO, a "What to do" and the objectExtensions sentence — RIGHT. An accept-set narrowing is breaking; the convention (check-changeset-no-major.mjs, "we ship breaking changes as minor" until GA) ships it minor. breakingDeclaration (check-adr-0087-registration.mjs 673–685) collects three signals (the banner, the !, the narrowing arm) and judges the file; exactly one marker is present; no-migration-prescription is in CATEGORIES (536–539) and is refused only when the body carries a framed consumer-code rewrite — the FROM → TO bullet here states the verdict change, not a rewrite — and the Check Changeset run (pr-automation.yml 244, the gate run with --base) is green, so the marker passed its re-validation. The reason is true: no spec key, stored shape or spelling moves; a stored rule with the fault stays stored and refuses as before; the only repair is the author's choice of column, which no migrate meta step can make.
  • @objectstack/objectql patch with Clause-②: no, no arm and no marker — RIGHT, and rightly declared. readClause2Line reads no with arm: null; breakingDeclaration collects no signal (patch, no banner, fix(objectql): without a bang, no narrowing arm), which is the gate's G1 ("a non-breaking changeset is not this gate's business"), so no marker is owed — the correction 6260609012 ② asked of fix(lint,objectql)!: a formula reading a field its lookup target does not declare is refused at save, and no longer nulls its sibling formulas #24466, applied here from the start, and tidier than fix(lint,objectql)!: a formula reading a field its lookup target does not declare is refused at save, and no longer nulls its sibling formulas #24466's surplus marker (6262025060 ③.6.a). The code is a verdict fix only: nothing accepted is refused; a write wrongly refused on a sibling's fault is judged; the bad rule's refusal names its own columns; the predicate read keeps its authority and bound; no export moves.
  • The PR body's third line begins Clause-②: no (narrowing) — the fixed spelling at the start of a line, with the parenthetical rationale after it in the form fix(lint,objectql)!: a formula reading a field its lookup target does not declare is refused at save, and no longer nulls its sibling formulas #24466's body carried and 6262025060 ② read as right. record-recognisers.mjs --paths on the 12 paths says the paths decide no face and the lint changeset's Clause-② arm decides: (narrowing), so the narrowing face and CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER. The Served-tier above is that reading.
  • Corpus: ①.9 — one in-tree rule traverses a lookup and reads a declared column; zero shipped examples, packages, seeds or fixtures are refused.

③ Boundary flags

  1. Six pushes instead of one (deviation 1). Process, no contract effect. AGENTS.md's "push a WIP commit before every step that takes minutes" is the standing rule and was followed; the "one push" is the round's prompt, not a rule I find in AGENTS.md or .claude/**, and reconciling the two is the dispatching seat's. All six are fast-forwards on the dev's own claude/issue-* branch; the net diff is what this record read.

  2. validate-expressions.test.ts beyond the claim's file surface (deviation 2). Answered, right: the validate-expressions / validate-security-posture 也有同形的 spec 不声明键的 ?? 别名读法(#5009 建议 3 的核对结果) #5017 receiver census is a same-file meta-test that reds on any new local receiver in the rule code; analysis reads traversals and multiHopFields, the formula package's own result keys and never metadata keys, and the PLUMBING entry says so beside the [security] Stored-metadata-body family: a formula field's one-hop read through a reference is an exit the family projection does not reach — reach not yet measured, detail withheld pending maintainer #24316 traversals entry it extends. Same package, same lane, same pass family as the declared file, and inside the domain:spec declarations' "its pins beside it" (6262742638, 6262753494). Not a block.

  3. The multi-hop skip at both sites (deviation 3; open question 2, A taken). Answered RIGHT in ①.5: no formula accept or refusal moves, the formula message is byte-identical, and option B (the rule site only) would have split one judgment into two bodies against the card's "one body".

  4. No core census row (deviation 4). Answered RIGHT in ①.7: the census is per file and both caller files already carry rows; the lesson of 6260609012 ①.8 (run packages/core test:repo when a diff adds a referenceTargetOf import) was taken — the dev ran it, 82/82, and Test Core (2/6) carries it on the head.

  5. The objectql changeset carries no ADR-0087 marker (deviation 5). Answered RIGHT in ②: not breaking under G1, no marker owed.

  6. The primary checkout's local branch (the report's summary). The dev reports the shared primary checkout holds a local branch named claude/issue-24468-rule-hop-isolation, checked out at 45bec43cd from the dispatch, while the work was done in a worktree and pushed to the remote branch. No contract effect: the implementation identity is the remote branch (head 69f76c6ef), which this record read. ESCALATED to the dispatching seat as PD Migrate documentation site to Fumadocs with monorepo structure and shared content #11 hygiene: a stale local branch under the remote's name answers git checkout claude/issue-24468-rule-hop-isolation on that checkout with the old tree; delete it and re-attach the checkout to main. Nothing in the diff turns on it.

  7. Open question 1 (where the per-rule judgment is carried; A taken) — answered RIGHT: the existing RelatedFieldBinding.undeclaredFields carries it and resolveTraversalScope, the binding's one consumer, intersects it with the rule's own columns — the mirror of formulaHopScope, no new type, option or export, the fail-closed refusal kept. B would have added option surface for one consumer; C would have moved the fenced formula seam.

  8. Open question 3 (not merging 7e58e0a27) — answered RIGHT. main moved by one commit after the dev's pre-PR merge: 7e58e0a27, packages/cli/test/serve-mcp-stdio-early-initialize.integration.test.ts, one line, no overlap. AGENTS.md §10 merges main after the pre-PR merge only on a conflict, a main-caused red or a queue removal, and the head's check-runs already ran on the merge of 69f76c6ef into 7e58e0a27, so the gate verdicts include it.

  9. The domain:cli declaration for the dogfood pin. The claim says "declared to domain:cli at review"; no such declaration is among this record's inputs. ESCALATED to the adopting seat: post it on the domain:cli seat posts before the queue, as 6260339978 / 6260346158 were posted for formula lint admits a read of a field the related object does not declare; the read then nulls every formula through that lookup, valid siblings included #24410's pin — test-only, no packages/cli source moves, and the Governed Surface Queue Guard is green, so it is not a governed path. An objection before the queue holds the PR, as the declarations themselves say.

  10. Out-of-scope finding 1 (a conditional's when through a lookup is unhydrated and unchecked). READ RIGHT (①.4), and it MEETS the filing gate under PD chore: version packages #10 as a metadata-authoring trap with a reproducible shape: when: record.account.status == 'x' saves 200 at every door — the lint carries no finding for it (the lint: a conditional validation rule's nested then / otherwise predicate is never validated, so os build passes and the object save door stores a predicate the top-level rule would refuse #22042 pin's topWhen case shows none for a deeper read) — and at evaluation checkConditional meets the bare id, the CEL read faults, and unevaluableRuleError refuses every write the rule guards (fail-closed, so no disclosure). It is also an ADR-0137 D1 gap — a predicate slot accepting what the engine cannot run — where the field-level slots already receive the whole refusal fieldTraversalMessage gives them. Outside this card's two seams, as the dev says. The adopting seat files it after the dedupe the dev's words name ("conditional when traversal lookup unhydrated; checkConditional relationship hop"), naming the lint lane (a whole refusal at the two when sites, 2798 and 2812, in the field-level style: express the check as a script rule or read a declared column) and, if hydration of when is wanted instead, the engine lane. Not blocking.

  11. Out-of-scope finding 2 (objectExtensions at os build / os validate). Known and carried: the window is stated in this PR's lint changeset "What to do" in the form 6260609012 ③.5 asked for, and the lint-lane card folding objectExtensions into buildFieldIndex for every existence verdict remains the adopting seat's from 6262025060 ③.5. Below the gate for a second filing.

  12. The two domain:spec declarations (6262742638 on [PM seat] domain:spec — ⏳ vacant #6017, 6262753494 on [PM seat] domain:spec · seat 2 — ⏳ vacant #18549) name the pass, the rider's files ("the packages/lint pass … and its pins beside it"), the accept-set change and the review owed; the diff's lint half is inside them, with ③.2 as the one file their letter does not name and their substance covers. No objection is among this record's inputs; the adopting seat reads objectql(validation): one validation rule reading a field its lookup's target does not declare leaves every rule through that lookup without a verdict, so each write refuses with the other rule's message; the save door does not judge a rule's hop column #24468 for one before the queue.

  13. Reviewer's own flags, none blocking:
    a. The validate-expressions.ts row's lead comment in the core census ("A formula's one-hop read judged against its target's declared fields") now under-describes the call, which also judges a rule's; prose only, read by no assertion.
    b. With a bare-and-traversed conflict AND an undeclared column in one rule condition, two findings land (the conflict's and this one's) — the same pair the formula site has had since formula lint admits a read of a field the related object does not declare; the read then nulls every formula through that lookup, valid siblings included #24410; cosmetic.
    c. resolvePredicateRelated now resolves each reference's target twice per call (here and in the loader): two registry map reads, no rows; harmless.
    d. The booted pin runs in CI only on main's full battery (ci.yml's two speeds); its 4/4 at this head is the dev's claim, read against the code (the where and rule it asserts are the pass's own). A red there after landing is this lane's main-red by convention.
    e. The PR body's "Other predicate surfaces" section is right as read in ①.4; its acceptance note on when is the finding ③.10 asks the seat to file.

  14. Verdict ground. Every contract judgment is RIGHT: the narrowing refuses exactly the set of rules that have no verdict today, judged against the set the loader itself uses; the isolation gives a sibling rule its alone-verdict with the predicate read's authority and bound untouched (no hunk in resolveOneHopRelated) and the formula seam byte for byte; the one census row owed is present and true, and no core row is owed; both changesets and the PR's Clause-② line are rightly declared and the gates that read them are green; no shipped example or package is refused. No check-run has concluded failure on this head; four Test Core shards are green and two — (2/6), the shard the fix(lint,objectql)!: a formula reading a field its lookup target does not declare is refused at save, and no longer nulls its sibling formulas #24466 CI note names as the carrier of packages/core test:repo, and (4/6) — were in progress at the final read (09:28:29Z) and were not waited for — Tier S lands on a PASS record for the current head AND every check green, and the second half is the queue guard's to read when they conclude. If a shard concludes failure on this head, the ground is not one this record has read against the code (①.7 reads the core census against its own assertions), and a new finding is owed before the queue.

Head: 69f76c6ef1. The commits, in order: the engine isolation and its pins, the lint refusal and its pins, the booted pin, the changesets, a merge of main, and the receiver-census fix. Card #24468 (p1, target:v18, bug), claim 6262728643, dispatch 6262791718. Dev report: 6263711750.

Item Reading
Shape Draft PR → main. The body opens Fixes #24468. 12 files, +514/−12. Not governed.
Scope Engine: resolvePredicateRelated takes each reference's undeclared columns out of the shared predicate read, through the shared undeclaredRelatedFields. It lists them on the binding as undeclaredFields. resolveTraversalScope then refuses a rule only for its own undeclared columns, so a valid sibling gets its alone-verdict. Lint: refuseUndeclaredHopField runs on every hydrated rule condition (top-level and nested then / otherwise), under expression-invalid. No new code.
Seat's own read The diff has one engine.ts hunk (:10245), inside resolvePredicateRelated. resolveOneHopRelated and the formula seam have none, so authority: 'predicate' and its bound are byte-identical. The objectql changeset is patch with Clause-②: no and no arm.
Review CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER record 6264118179, narrowing face, PASS on this head.
Declaration Clause-②: no (narrowing) on the claim, the PR body and the lint changeset (@objectstack/lint minor, **BREAKING**, adr-0087: not-required (no-migration-prescription)). The objectql changeset is patch, Clause-②: no.
Cross-lane The lint half is declared to domain:spec (6262742638 on #6017, 6262753494 on #18549). The dogfood pin is declared to domain:cli (6263746266 on #6024, 6263757792 on #22648), posted after the record's brief was cut; this answers record ③.9. No objection on any of the four, or on the card.
Gates Dev, on the merged tree: 76 derived, 76 run, 76 exit 0. Core test:repo 82/82.
CI At this read on 69f76c6ef1: every check completed, none failed.

Disposition:

Landing: ordinary queue (pr_ready + automerge_enable through the relay). Fixes #24468 then closes the card.
