automation: switching off a packaged flow or a packaged action writes the activation-ledger row and its audit row with a null actor, so nothing records which admin did it #26474
When an authenticated admin switches off a packaged flow or a packaged action, nothing records who did it. Both the activation-ledger row and the audit-log row come out with their actor fields null:
So the audit trail cannot say which administrator disabled a shipped artifact. The same session's own sign-in rows, by contrast, carry the admin's user id.
QA-source: #26468 · automation.setup-packaged-automation-board · observed beside the clauses
Sign in as the admin: POST /api/v1/auth/sign-in/email {"email":"admin@objectos.ai","password":"admin123"}. Use the returned token as Bearer. GET /api/v1/auth/get-session names the admin's user id, here U1Pek….
Toggle a packaged flow: POST /api/v1/automation/showcase_urgent_task_alert/toggle {"enabled":false} answers 200 {"name":"showcase_urgent_task_alert","enabled":false}.
Toggle a packaged action: POST /api/v1/actions/_activation/sys_member/add_member {"enabled":false} answers 200.
Read the ledger: GET /api/v1/data/sys_metadata_activation?top=200. Both rows (showcase_urgent_task_alert, add_member) read active:false, created_by: null, updated_by: null.
Read the audit log: GET /api/v1/data/sys_audit_log?top=20&$orderby=created_at desc. Two create rows on sys_metadata_activation, timestamped at the toggles, read user_id: null, actor: null. The neighbouring login / sys_user update rows of the same request window carry user_id: U1Pek….
Expected: the ledger row's created_by/updated_by and the audit row's user_id/actor name the admin who made the request.
Actual: all null.
The QA runner found this through the Setup › Packaged Automation page, and I reproduced it on an independent fresh boot over the API alone. The runner also observed that saving a clone of a packaged flow is audited as actor system.
Likely shape (to confirm)
The toggle and activation doors appear to write the ledger under a system context, not the caller's. Compare #7749 (a bearer-authenticated /meta PUT stamped actor: 'system'), which was the same class on a different door.
Full evidence chain: the run record named in the QA-source line above.
p2: switching off a packaged flow or action writes sys_metadata_activation and its sys_audit_log row with a null actor, so the audit trail cannot name the admin. Pass the caller's context through to that write, as the session's own rows do, and pin the actor on both rows. Found by the 18.2.0 wave-2 sweep ([sweep] v18.2.0 release test sweep #25807).

Letter A: split the card. The report's four-axis reading holds. A puts the caller into the contract, in the same shape as execute(flowName, context?) in that contract. B (an ambient AsyncLocalStorage scope) and C (an undeclared duck-typed parameter) both let a missed caller write a silent null, which is the consumer-side tolerance the third axis rules out. This is a seat call inside the lane's rulings: the goal (both rows name the admin) is unchanged, and only the order of delivery changes.
Now, Part of #26474: the action door (ql.setActionActive, engine-local) and the same-class security door (POST /api/v1/security/_activation/:type/:name, packages/runtime/src/domains/catalog-activation.ts:396) hand the caller down as { ...callerContext, isSystem: true }, keeping the elevation and naming the caller. The core activation store (ObjectStoreMetadataActivationStore.setActive, packages/core/src/utils/metadata-activation-store.ts) takes the context instead of its constant SYSTEM_CTX. Pins: the ledger row's created_by / updated_by and the audit row's user_id / actor carry the admin on both doors, and red first on main.

The spec half of this card is #26506, in PR #26545 (contract review PASS, pending merge). It declares IAutomationService.toggleFlow?(name, enabled, caller?: Pick<AutomationContext, 'userId'>). An absent caller or userId means an unattributed write, and the channel is attribution only. When the server half wires the doors to pass the caller, these will need updating in the same PR:
Stale prose once the channel exists: the docblock in service-automation engine.ts about :5288-5294 ("no caller channel and no room to grow one"), flow-activation-store.ts:68 and flow-definitions.ts:472.

Mechanism: core ObjectStoreMetadataActivationStore.setActive(row, options?) takes { context } and runs its keyed read and its insert/update under it (absent keeps SYSTEM_CTX, so a write no caller asked for still names nobody); MetadataActivationWriteContext requires isSystem: true in the type. objectql setActionActive and ActionActivationProjection.setActive pass the options through unchanged. runtime activation-gate.ts gains activationWriteContext(context) = { ...callerContext, isSystem: true }, called by the action door and the security catalog door after both authority gates; the elevation is kept and the caller rides as the acting principal, so the engine stamps created_by/updated_by from userId and plugin-audit reads user_id/actor from the same session. No actor is stamped by hand. The catalog door covers position, permission, sharing_rule and webhook rows through its one write site. Branch restarted from origin/main 1080f07 (the #26551 history is merged). runtime: the flow toggle door calls toggleFlow(name, enabled, activationCaller(context)); activationCaller in domains/activation-gate.ts returns { userId } from the execution context, or {} with no user, and nothing else. service-automation: AutomationEngine.toggleFlow(name, enabled, caller?) implements the #26545 caller parameter; flow-definitions.ts flowActivationWriteOptions(caller) builds { context: { isSystem: true, positions: [], permissions: [], userId } } (the store's own grant-less system context plus the id; only caller.userId is read) and passes it to flowActivationStore.setActive(row, options), the #26551 channel. No id means no options, so the write stays unattributed. FlowActivationStore.setActive gains the optional MetadataActivationWriteOptions. The elevation is kept and no actor is stamped by hand. A first-sweep red on check:system-context-census (a runtime isSystem read in the store counted as a new elevation read site) was resolved by dropping that read (commit c5672b2); the type carries the elevation.",

After the fix: dogfood 5/5 (showcase boot plus AuditPlugin; action and position, off then on; ledger row created_by/updated_by and audit row user_id/actor all the admin id). Ablation on runtime activation-gate.ts (anchor return { ...caller, isSystem: true } replaced by a marker-carrying bare { isSystem: true }), runtime rebuilt, ablation-dist-preflight exit 0: runtime door suites 5 failed, dogfood 4 failed (expected null); restore blob == HEAD 651aa0c0, git diff HEAD empty, rebuilt, --absent preflight exit 0, dogfood 5/5. "summary": "Flow-toggle half of #26474 under amended claim 6437525635 (seat ruling 6434876664 letter A item 2); PR body says Fixes #26474. Every toggleFlow caller: git grep finds one in-repo caller outside packages/spec, the runtime door, which now passes its caller; no internal caller without a user. Declarations: Clause-②: yes (widening), measured on the diff: the claim pre-read no, and toggleFlow's caller alone would be no (an implementation of a declared parameter), but FlowActivationStore is exported from @objectstack/service-automation's entry and its setActive gains an optional options parameter, which widens the published surface, the same measure #26551 used for core's store. activationCaller is not exported from runtime's entry. Metadata-protocol: none. Changeset .changeset/26474-flow-toggle-actor.md, patch for service-automation and runtime.",

After the fix all pass (dogfood 7/7). Ablations via ablation-replace.mjs, each restored to blob == HEAD with empty git diff HEAD: options replaced by undefined -> service 2 failed; door passes undefined -> door 2 failed; activationCaller spreads the execution context -> door 2 failed; write context spreads the caller -> service 1 failed.
