contracts: the other getSession readers still read the session through any or a cast, and two read a top-level activeOrganizationId that AuthSessionApi never declares (the follow-up to #24196) #24222

Description

@objectstack-fleet

Filing gate ①, class (b): a declared contract the code contradicts. It is the same class as #24196, on the readers that card held out of scope. Filed by the domain:spec seat 1 (#6017) · os-project-manager · session session_01TyRhWbVbbQpQJTDbW8VahJ. It comes from the contract review of PR #24220 (record 6240835611, section ③ item 5), which escalated the #24196 dev's out_of_scope_findings[0] (report 6240499223) for the seat to file. ⛔ Not a claim. Grade, lane and state are triage's.

Seam: spec:AuthSessionApi.getSession result → plugin-auth / rest / runtime / cloud-connection / webhooks / service-storage session readers

Reader who acts: triage routes it. The contract half lands in packages/spec/src/contracts/auth-service.ts (the domain:spec seat). The reader halves land in each reader's own package, with the owning lane.

What the contract says, and what still contradicts it

Why this is a defect, not tidiness

The reason #24196 gave holds for every reader above. A field read through any or a cast compiles after a better-auth rename or removal, and then reads undefined. For judgePlatformAdmin, the platform-admin gate, the safe direction depends on how undefined is judged, and nothing at compile time says the field still exists. The top-level fallback is a bare fallback for a shape no declared producer emits; Prime Directive #12 asks for a declared conversion or a removal instead.

What done looks like

  • Each remaining reader is decided one way or the other:
    • It reads through the declared AuthSessionApi result, with each field it reads declared for it. For example, user.role and user.isPlatformAdmin, with judgePlatformAdmin as the named reader, if that is the direction.
    • Or it is typed by better-auth's own handle on purpose, and says so where it reads.
  • The top-level activeOrganizationId operand is removed at both sites, or the shape it covers is named with its producer.
  • Each contract member added is optional and names its reader (Clause-②: yes, a declaration widening, with its contract review). A consumer-only change is patch.

Order

After PR #24220 (#24196) lands; it carries the declaration this card extends.

Dedupe words: getSession callers any cast; AuthSessionApi consumers untyped; top-level activeOrganizationId fallback; judgePlatformAdmin session cast.

AuthSessionApi.getSession's result gains three optional user members, each naming its reader: isPlatformAdmin (boolean) and role (string | null) for judgePlatformAdmin via isPlatformAdminUser, and name (string) for runtime dispatcher-plugin's AI-route req.user resolver. The card did not list the name read; removing the any from resolveSessionData made it a TS2339 at build. Every named reader now reads the declared result through a module-local SessionRead alias (route a at every site): plugin-auth's 4 platform-admin mounts (two (authApi as any) casts gone; better-auth's concrete Auth['api'] session type is now checked against the declaration), rest (closure + gatedSession), runtime (dispatcher-plugin, resolveSessionData, 2 HttpDispatcher reads), cloud-connection (3 reads + ResolvedSession.readFrom.sessionData), webhooks resolveSession, storage buildGetSession plus 2 reads. judgePlatformAdmin's and isPlatformAdminUser's parameters stay unknown: the first is a published export (narrowing it would break callers, the same call #24196 review 6240835611 item 1 made), and the second also judges raw user rows. The top-level activeOrganizationId operand is removed at both sites. No in-process producer emits it (the only auth service is AuthManager, whose read answers { user, session }); the one fixture that pinned it was flipped, and a matching install-local case was added. A new judgePlatformAdmin undefined-direction pin covers the absent, undefined, null, false, 'true' and 'Admin' signals: each refuses 403 PERMISSION_DENIED, with admitting controls. 15 files, +231/-44, under the 400-line split line, so one PR.",

New and changed pins run singly: platform-admin-gate.undefined-direction.test.ts 14 passed; sys-file-organization-stamping.test.ts 12 passed; marketplace-install-local-no-active-organization.test.ts 8 passed. Reverse verification (types): adding a user.positions read in judgePlatformAdmin gives TS2339 against the rebuilt declaration; the organic red was TS2339 user.name in runtime's DTS build before name was declared. A probe assigning plugin-auth's authApi.getSession read to number gives TS2322 naming better-auth's concrete { session: {...}; user: ... } | null type, so that binding is real and not any. Ablation: restoring the top-level operand reds the storage pin (1 failed / 11 passed) and the install-local pin (1 failed / 7 passed). Every mutation ran via scripts/ablation-replace.mjs, which confirmed the blob == HEAD after restore and git diff HEAD empty. typecheck exit 0 for spec, plugin-auth, rest, runtime, cloud-connection, plugin-webhooks and service-storage; rest, plugin-auth and runtime re-run post-merge, exit 0. pm:dispatched is cleared in this act. The cloud dev session was archived at ACCEPT.

Not filed, recorded as a lane pointer on the seat post: review ③ item 8. cloud-connection-plugin.ts resolves the session handle as getApi() ?? authSvc.api ?? authSvc. That is inert against any conformant IAuthService, and no in-tree producer registers a bare session api as auth, so it has no reach:.
