service-settings: the storage, knowledge and AI manifests carry their ⚠ warnings inside description and help strings; move each into an info_banner row (bannerSeverity: warning), item 2 of objectui#12610 #23839
Land-after: objectstack-ai/objectui#12671 at objectstack's .objectui-sha (claim 6216295088).
Unblocked 2026-10-16T13:14Z by domain:services seat 2. #23855 landed in PR #23886 (dd11563f61), so the four warnings now move with their translations into settings.NAMESPACE.banners.BANNER_ID.{title,text}. The PR stays draft until the console reads that slot, so no locale loses its translated warning in between.
Filing gate ③: the objectstack half of objectstack-ai/objectui#12610 item 2 (filed by the epic PM from the 2026-10-16 Setup review, under the maintainer's 「全部立卡」). It was split by triage at that card's pm:retriage (domain:ui seat 3, 6210426632). Splitting "⚠" out of a server string in the console would be the consumer-side tolerance objectui AGENTS.md #0.1 refuses. ⛔ Not a claim.
Reader who acts: the domain:services seat (packages/services/service-settings).
What the admin reads (the walk on objectui 8415d9f11)
File Storage's subtitle: "… ⚠ Switching adapter does not migrate existing files — files uploaded under the previous adapter become unreachable through the new one."
Knowledge's subtitle: "⚠ Switching adapter does NOT migrate existing indices."
AI & Embedder's "Log full prompts" help text: "⚠ May leak PII".
They are produced in service-settings' storage.manifest.ts, knowledge.manifest.ts and ai.manifest.ts, and in src/translations/en.ts, as seat 3 located.
The structured home already exists
packages/spec/src/system/settings-manifest.zod.ts declares the info_banner specifier: bannerText (a markdown body) and bannerSeverity: 'info' | 'success' | 'warning' | 'error'. No spec change is needed.
The change
Each ⚠ sentence leaves its description / help string and becomes an info_banner row with bannerSeverity: 'warning', placed in the section it concerns.
The translations move with it, for every locale service-settings ships.
Pins: each of the three manifests carries the warning only as an info_banner, and no description or help string contains "⚠".
Grade and order
p2. It is admin-facing copy. No setting's key, value or save behaviour changes.

File surface (at origin/main3c080a65c8 or later; stop on a breach and explain it in the report): in packages/services/service-settings/src/, manifests/storage.manifest.ts, manifests/knowledge.manifest.ts and manifests/ai.manifest.ts with their three *.manifest.test.ts pins, the four locale bundles translations/{en,zh-CN,ja-JP,es-ES}.ts, and .changeset/23839-*.md. ⛔ Not packages/spec/**: info_banner with bannerSeverity: 'warning' is declared at settings-manifest.zod.ts:537-539. ⛔ Nothing in objectui.
Container & model: S, not mechanical (where each banner sits in its section, and whether a field's help text keeps a non-warning remainder, are judgments read against the served manifest) ⇒ M treatment, mode:subagent, model: opus (TIER_DEFAULT; dispatch-gates --tier --repo objectstack-ai/objectstack: "no path-derived mandate")
Clause-②: no — the info_banner specifier is already declared, and no setting's key, value, default or save behaviour changes. If the dev measures a change in the built declaration closure, it reports it.
Responsibility: service-settings (this lane): each manifest's warning reaches the admin as an info_banner row, not inside a description or help string | none: the console's settings renderer already draws info_banner (objectui SettingsField.tsx, at objectstack's .objectui-sha pin daeb77fc84) | objectui#12610 keeps items 1 and 4
Thread-read: none
Ruling-ref: none (triage's split 6210969329 on objectui#12610 is the filing; the maintainer's 「全部立卡」 is the epic PM's filing order).
Serial constraints cleared: no open PR touches packages/services/service-settings/** (all open PRs' file lists read at this write).
Measured at claim: the three manifests carry four ⚠ sentences in user-facing strings, not three. The fourth is the enforce_rls help in knowledge.manifest.ts ("⚠ Disabling skips the platform's unique safeguard…"). The card's own pin ("no description or help string contains ⚠") covers it.

"summary": "I stopped before writing code, at the stop the dispatch's assumption 2 names: no localisation path exists for info_banner text. The card says 'No spec change is needed' and also 'the translations move with it, for every locale'. Measured on objectstack origin/main 3c080a65c8, those two cannot both hold. (1) The settings translation contract (packages/spec/src/system/translation.zod.ts:1612-1670, platformSettingsShape) is a strictObject per namespace with only title, description, groups.ID.{title,description}, keys.KEY.{label,help,placeholder,options} and actions.ID.{label,confirmText,successMessage}. It has no slot for a banner's title or text. (2) The spec resolver family (packages/spec/src/system/i18n-resolver.ts, 12 exported resolveSettings* functions) has no banner resolver: zero 'banner' hits in the file. (3) The console at objectstack's .objectui-sha pin daeb77fc84 (and objectui main 07b0632) draws the banner from resolveLabel(spec.label) and the raw spec.bannerText (SettingsField.tsx:273-281). useSettingsLabel.ts has zero 'banner' hits, against 2 'fieldHelp' hits as the control. (4) The one shipped info_banner, feature_flags.beta_notice, has no copy in zh-CN, ja-JP or es-ES, so those admins read it in English today. Moving the four warnings anyway would delete 12 translated sentences (3 locales x 4), and settings-translation-coverage.test.ts would stay green because it never reads banners. So moving them needs a translation key shape that is not declared, and the dispatch forbids inventing one or editing packages/spec. The choice is in open_questions, with options analysed on the four axes. Assumption checks: 1 CONFIRMED. There are four sentences: storage.manifest.ts:17, knowledge.manifest.ts:45, knowledge.manifest.ts:118 and ai.manifest.ts:232. Each has 4 bundle copies: en.ts:225/316/353/389, zh-CN.ts:414/509/539/564, ja-JP.ts:349/462/499/535 and es-ES.ts:349/465/502/538. 2: the declaration is CONFIRMED (settings-manifest.zod.ts:537-539, and the bannerText refine at :594-600); the localisation path is FALSIFIED. Specifier.label is also required (I18nLabelSchema), so each banner also needs a title, and that title has no translation slot either. 3 CONFIRMED: variant = bannerSeverity === 'error' ? 'destructive' : 'default', drawn with an Info icon; Alert has only default and destructive variants. 4: remainders measured, not applied. storage keeps 'Backend used for attachments, exports, and user uploads.' knowledge keeps 'Vector-store backend for RAG / knowledge sources.' and also the sentence AFTER the warning, 'The embedder is configured separately under AI.', so this one is not a before-only remainder. enforce_rls keeps \"Re-check every hit against the caller's record-level permissions via IDataEngine.\" log_prompts keeps 'Include rendered prompts (not just metadata) in trace rows.' 5: NOT MEASURED, because there is no diff. Status conflict: the dispatch says to report 'blocked'. os-dev.md's stop rule for an undecided public-contract shape names 'needs_decision', and os-dev.md wins on conflict. Re-route as blocked if the PM prefers; the content is the same.",

"question": "How does an info_banner's title and text reach a non-English admin? #23839 needs this to move its four warnings with their translations. The settings translation contract declares no banner slot: three candidate spellings were each refused with unrecognized_keys. No resolver reads a banner slot, and the console renders bannerText raw. Who decides: a spec widening of PlatformTranslationDataSchema (Clause-② yes (widening)) plus an objectui reader, so it is beyond this card's file surface.",
"options": [
"A, declare the slot, contract-first, in sequence. (1) packages/spec declares settings.NS.banners.ID.{title,text}, strict and optional, in platformSettingsShape, plus resolveSettingsBannerTitle and resolveSettingsBannerText: minor, Clause-② yes (widening). (2) objectui useSettingsLabel gains bannerTitle/bannerText(id, fallback) and SettingsField reads them. The same objectui change can draw warning in an amber variant and render bannerText as markdown, folding in the renderer half of objectui#12610 item 2; then a pin bump. (3) #23839 is re-dispatched with Blocked-by on both. It adds four banners with ids, moves the 16 bundle strings under banners.ID, and extends settings-translation-coverage.test.ts to banners in both directions. That forces feature_flags.beta_notice to be translated as well. Cost: three PRs across two repos. Estimates: spec about 40-60 lines plus its regenerated surface artifacts; objectui about 40 lines plus tests; service-settings about 120 lines. Business need: measured pull. 4 warnings already ship translated in zh-CN/ja-JP/es-ES (12 non-English strings with readers), plus the live untranslated beta_notice: 5 banners in 3 locales. The parent card's walk re-checked in zh. Long-term: one declared translation home per translatable string. Specifier.id is already documented as the i18n lookup key (settings-manifest.zod.ts:394), and info_banner is the one text-bearing layout specifier without a translation slot. AI-error: a strict slot plus the extended coverage test makes a banner without locale copy fail loudly. Today an AI that writes a banners key is refused, which pushes it to B or back into description strings, the defect this card exists to remove. Startup scope: a small widening of an existing shape, with five consumers on day one. No new gate, because it extends an existing test. The tension is real: three PRs and a cross-repo sequence for a p2 copy card.",
"B, move now with English-only banners, following the feature_flags.beta_notice precedent. It meets the card's pins; settings-translation-coverage.test.ts stays green because it reads only title/description/groups/keys. Cost: one PR, about 60 lines. Business need: zh-CN/ja-JP/es-ES admins lose 12 localised warnings and read English, so the card's own translations clause fails. Long-term: the untranslatable set grows from 1 banner to 5, and the work is redone when A lands. AI-error: this is the silent shape. Every gate stays green while translations are deleted, and it sets the precedent that banners are English-only. Startup scope: cheapest now, but it is paid for twice.",
"C, no move. The warnings stay inside the localised description/help strings and #23839 closes as not planned; the console may not split them out, per objectui AGENTS.md #0.1. Cost: zero. Business need: the defect the parent reported stays, with the warning buried in the subtitle or help text. Long-term: no surface growth, but the warning-inside-help-text pattern stays as precedent. AI-error: neutral. Startup scope: no new surface."
],
"recommendation": "A, because it is the only option that keeps every measured reader: today 12 warnings are localised and 1 banner is not. It also fixes the producer contract rather than a consumer. B wins on cost but deletes translations behind green gates. C does nothing about the reported defect. Sequence: spec slot first, objectui reader (with the warning variant) second, #23839 third with Blocked-by on both. Re-dispatched, #23839's file surface is unchanged, plus the coverage test and feature_flags banner copy in three locales."

On the dev's report 6211881537. Its stop is the one the dispatch named (assumption 2), and this seat re-checked it on origin/main:
translation.zod.ts and i18n-resolver.ts each hold 0 banner hits.
The shipped beta_notice banner (feature-flags.manifest.ts:19; the report spells the file feature_flags) has no copy in any locale bundle, English included.
The answer is A, by this seat, under SKILL.md's 〈升级与决策〉 (no escalation: once the existing norms are applied, the options do not genuinely diverge).
B is out: it deletes 12 translated warnings behind green gates. That breaks this card's own clause "the translations move with it, for every locale", and loud beats silent.
C is out: it leaves the reported defect in place.
A is what the declaration implies:settings-manifest.zod.ts:394 already documents Specifier.id as the i18n lookup key, and info_banner is the one text-bearing specifier without a translation slot. That is an implementation gap to fill, not a contract choice.
What is still open is not this lane's: the slot's spelling is spec work (Clause-②: yes (widening)), and the console's reader is objectui's.
pm:dispatched → pm:blocked, with Blocked-by: #23855 in the body.
The claim 6211668099 is released and the assignee cleared; nothing was written.
The dev's empty branch claude/issue-23839-settings-warning-banners sits at 3c080a65c8 with no commits. Its next claimant may reuse or replace it.
For the next dispatch, already measured (the report's assumption checks): four sentences, each with four bundle copies; the remainders to keep (knowledge keeps the sentence after its warning, too); and that Specifier.label is required on a banner, so each banner needs a translated title as well.
The report's two renderer findings (warning drawn in the default variant; bannerText rendered as plain text, though it is declared as markdown) go to objectui#12610's owner, which holds the console half.

This card's Blocked-by: #23855 target closed at 2026-10-16T12:56Z by PR #23886 (dd11563f61). What the move can now use:
The slot:settings.NAMESPACE.banners.BANNER_ID.{title,text} on PlatformTranslationDataSchema. BANNER_ID is the info_banner specifier's id, title translates its label, text translates its bannerText. The leaf spellings label / bannerText / description and the namespace spellings banner / notices / alerts are refused by name.
The readers:resolveSettingsBannerTitle and resolveSettingsBannerText in packages/spec/src/system/i18n-resolver.ts. They fall back through the locale chain to the manifest literal.

⚠ Land after: this PR stays draft until objectstack's .objectui-sha carries console settings: an info_banner row draws its manifest English in every locale. Read the new settings.NAMESPACE.banners.BANNER_ID.{title,text} slot (objectstack#23886) objectui#12671's banner reader (the pin is daeb77fc84 at this write). Landing before that would make zh-CN, ja-JP and es-ES admins read English: the 12 translated warnings they read today would move into a slot the console does not read yet. Same precedent as PR feat(plugin-approvals): the request page's Details tab ends with the request snapshot's raw JSON, gated on studio.access #23837 (held for a renderer at the pin). It is a landing gate, not a dispatch block, so the work proceeds now.

Each string keeps its measured non-warning remainder, knowledge's trailing embedder sentence included. In en, zh-CN, ja-JP and es-ES each warning sentence left the description/help copy and moved, without the glyph and not re-translated, to settings.NAMESPACE.banners.BANNER_ID.{title,text}, with a new title per banner per locale. feature_flags.beta_notice already had its id and gained copies in all four bundles. The en banner text mirrors the manifest literal (the en bundle's stated purpose), so for the two knowledge banners English admins now read the manifest's full sentence, where the old en copy had shortened ones. settings-translation-coverage.test.ts now covers banners in both directions and reports a banner with no id; it also sweeps every manifest and bundle description/help string for the glyph. The three manifest tests pin each banner's id, severity, section and position, and that the glyph is absent from the serialized manifest. Release: session_018VqJPGA1NDNSCZsnecsChP · the seat signs off at the maintainer's instruction ("当前任务处理完就下班"), and this card's land-after has not arrived · next: whichever domain:services seat sits next takes it up when the pin moves.
Released by domain:services seat 2 (#21118) · os-elon-musk · 2026-10-17T01:30Z.
By the maintainer's instruction, the signed-off session session_018VqJPGA1NDNSCZsnecsChP still carries this card to merge through PR #23958. When the Restart-when condition clears (.objectui-sha carries objectui a2f38ddf), it re-claims the card, brings the PR up to date, reviews it and lands it. A routine checks the condition every 6 hours (trig_01Mv8aKU4An7y6zyUN6SRuBP).
⛔ A successor seat does not pick this card while the seat post's stay-behind line names it.

Container & model: n/a: a landing, no build
Clause-②: no (the PR's own line)
Responsibility: n/a — not a defect card
Thread-read: 6228527860
Serial constraints cleared: no commit on origin/main touches packages/services/service-settings since the PR's base 7277c07f68 (75 commits, git log read now). This seat's other open PR, PR #24146, touches plugin-approvals only.
The restart condition holds. The Restart-when line was ".objectui-sha carries objectui a2f38ddf" (the info_banner reader, objectui#12671). At 2026-10-17T04:53Z, origin/main:.objectui-sha is 5e15928b46 (#24144), and git merge-base --is-ancestor a2f38ddf 5e15928b46 holds.
Landing: the PR is clean, and CI on its head is green (34 success, 6 roster skips). The seat marks it ready and enables auto-merge in this act. The merge queue re-runs CI on the merged result. If the queue rejects it, a dev is dispatched to bring it up to date.
Landed: PR #23958 (Fixes #23839) merged through the merge queue as 747c8e9c48. That commit is on origin/main (git merge-base --is-ancestor). Timeline: merged 2026-10-17T05:17Z. Review 6217207943; restart for landing 6229859940, once .objectui-sha carried objectui a2f38ddf.

What an admin sees: each of the four warnings is its own titled callout under the field it warns about, in the session's locale (en, zh-CN, ja-JP, es-ES), drawn in amber by the console at the pin 5e15928b46. Before, each was one more sentence of a subtitle or a toggle's help.

{ "issue": 23839, "status": "needs_decision", "branch": "claude/issue-23839-settings-warning-banners", "pr": null, "session": "session_018VqJPGA1NDNSCZsnecsChP", "premise_still_valid": false, "summary": "I stopped before writing code, at the stop the dispatch's assumption 2 names: no localisation path exists for info_banner text. Re-route as blocked if the PM prefers; the content is the same.", "tests": "No test ran: no code change. The evidence is one schema probe: tsx over the spec SOURCE (not dist), so no stale-dist risk. The settings translation contract declares no banner slot: three candidate spellings were each refused with unrecognized_keys. No resolver reads a banner slot, and the console renders bannerText raw. Who decides: a spec widening of PlatformTranslationDataSchema (Clause-② yes (widening)) plus an objectui reader, so it is beyond this card's file surface.", "options": [ "A, declare the slot, contract-first, in sequence. The tension is real: three PRs and a cross-repo sequence for a p2 copy card.", "B, move now with English-only banners, following the feature_flags.beta_notice precedent. Startup scope: cheapest now, but it is paid for twice.", "C, no move. Startup scope: no new surface." ], "recommendation": "A, because it is the only option that keeps every measured reader: today 12 warnings are localised and 1 banner is not. It also fixes the producer contract rather than a consumer. B wins on cost but deletes translations behind green gates. C does nothing about the reported defect. Sequence: spec slot first, objectui reader (with the warning variant) second, #23839 third with Blocked-by on both. service-settings (this lane): each manifest's ⚠ warning reaches the admin as an info_banner row with bannerSeverity warning, and its title and text are translated through the banners slot for every shipped locale | the console reads the slot: objectstack-ai/objectui#12671 (domain:ui, p2 pm:queue) | objectui#12610 keeps items 1 and 4, and the two renderer findings (warning drawn in the default variant; bannerText rendered as plain text)Thread-read:
6216126328Ruling-ref: none. The
needs_decisionanswer A6211952028(this seat, no escalation) is the route; the triage unlock scan6216126328is the queue state.Serial constraints cleared: none of the 16 open PRs touches
packages/services/service-settings/**(their file lists were read at this write).⚠ Land after: this PR stays draft until objectstack's
.objectui-shacarries console settings: aninfo_bannerrow draws its manifest English in every locale. Read the newsettings.NAMESPACE.banners.BANNER_ID.{title,text}slot (objectstack#23886) objectui#12671's banner reader (the pin isdaeb77fc84at this write). It is a landing gate, not a dispatch block, so the work proceeds now.Generated by Claude Code

{ "issue": 23839, "status": "done", "branch": "claude/issue-23839-settings-warning-banners", "pr": "https://github.com/objectstack-ai/objectstack/pull/23958", "session": "session_018VqJPGA1NDNSCZsnecsChP", "premise_still_valid": true, "summary": "The four warnings (storage description, knowledge description, knowledge enforce_rls help, ai log_prompts help) are now info_banner rows with bannerSeverity 'warning', each with an id (storage/knowledge adapter_switch_warning, knowledge enforce_rls_warning, ai log_prompts_warning), a short label as its title and bannerText, placed in the section it concerns directly under the field it warns about. The PR is DRAFT and stays so for the land-after gate (objectui#12671's reader at .objectui-sha, now daeb77fc84), stated in the body's first section. Premise re-checked on 2ef46279cf: the slot and both resolvers exist (translation.zod.ts:1681-1691, i18n-resolver.ts:3683/3700), and the four sentences sat at the predecessor's lines.", "tests": "All at head c396797fd5, under os-verify-lock (VERDICT command-exit 0 each). (3) pnpm --filter @objectstack/service-settings typecheck (tsc --noEmit) exit 0; tsc --listFiles names 47 test files, the four edited ones among them. (4) One-off probe (tsx, not committed): PlatformTranslationDataSchema.safeParse gave success=true for en, zh-CN, ja-JP and es-ES. resolveSettingsBannerTitle/Text resolved 20 of 20 banner x locale pairs from the bundle (5 banners x 4 locales), with zero FELL-BACK. (5) Ablations through scripts/ablation-replace.mjs in WRAP mode, on the four edited test files (105 tests). No dist build was needed: the subject is src, imported by relative path. A1: renaming the zh-CN storage banner key to adapter_switch_warnin turned 2 tests red, 'zh-CN missing for storage: banner:adapter_switch_warning.title, banner:adapter_switch_warning.text' and 'zh-CN has undeclared settings copy: storage.banner:adapter_switch_warnin'. A2: putting the glyph back into the storage manifest description turned 2 red, the storage pin (serialized manifest contains the glyph) and the sweep ('warning glyph in manifest help strings: storage.description'). A3: log_prompts_warning set to bannerSeverity 'info' turned 1 red, ai pin 'expected [[log_prompts_warning, info]] to deeply equal ...'. A4: the glyph back into the ja-JP log_prompts help turned 1 red, 'ja-JP has the warning glyph in: ai.keys.log_prompts.help'. Every leg's tool evidence read 'ok mutation landed: anchor 1 to 0, blob changed' and the child exited 1. Every restore was 'blob == HEAD and git diff HEAD is empty', re-proven by hash for all 4 files after the run. (6) Declaration closure: the 7 edited source files were put back to BASE 2ef46279cf in the working tree only (7 files changed, 20 glyphs present), the package rebuilt, the files restored to HEAD (7/7 blob == HEAD, git diff HEAD empty) and rebuilt again. dist/index.d.ts and dist/index.d.cts are byte-identical between BASE and HEAD (md5 68d6b431c4c7fe099f1fe841af3ac690 both), so the Clause-② no declaration holds as measured. test:repo was not run locally and is declared to CI (Test Core).", "gates": "Local: node scripts/pm/dispatch-gates.mjs --commands --repo objectstack-ai/objectstack exited 0.
