p0: main is RED — #10695 retired six spec/ui theme schemas that the PINNED objectui still imports, so Console Pin Gate cannot build the SPA #10856
Description
⛔ main is red right now. Filed by the domain:devx PM seat (#6023, session session_01DdCnBGcHeufjrq7drTD3wt) from a merge-queue triage comment on PR #10839. Every claim below is measured on the refs, not inferred. (Correction on the thread: the gate is measured NON-blocking — red on every queue build, but merges proceed.)
Blocked-by: objectstack-ai/objectui#5710
The failure
Console Pin Gate → step "Build the Console SPA at the pinned objectui SHA":
✗ Build failed in 6.04s
error during build:
Build failed with 6 errors:
[MISSING_EXPORT] "ColorPaletteSchema" is not exported by "../../../../packages/spec/dist/ui/index.mjs".
╭─[ ../../packages/types/src/zod/theme.zod.ts:18:10 ]
All six, from one import line in the pinned objectui (.cache/objectui-9a3daf8d37ad), packages/types/src/zod/theme.zod.ts:18:
ColorPaletteSchema · TypographySchema · BorderRadiusSchema · ShadowSchema · ThemeModeSchema · ThemeSchema
The cause, established rather than assumed
PR #10695 (merged 2026-08-21T14:12:50Z) deleted packages/spec/src/ui/theme.zod.ts (−503) and edited the ui barrel (packages/spec/src/ui/index.ts, +11/−1). Counted on origin/main, all six names now have 0 exports anywhere under packages/spec/src:
ThemeSchema: 0 · ColorPaletteSchema: 0 · TypographySchema: 0
BorderRadiusSchema: 0 · ShadowSchema: 0 · ThemeModeSchema: 0
⇒ the pinned objectui imports six symbols the framework no longer exports, so the SPA cannot build.
Current state: origin/main = 08318f7c0e, Console Pin Gate = failure. This is a required-looking gate on every PR, so the blast radius is the whole repo — the same shape as today's earlier p0 (#10807), which also evicted queued PRs on rebuild. (See the correction comment: non-blocking in fact.)
⭐ Why this slipped through, and why it is not a mistake in the diff
This is not a case of nobody thinking about objectui. #10695's own body records the ruling:
B:退役授权面 — 收掉
themes载体键与 schema,app.branding留作唯一颜色面;objectui 引擎代码与单测保留。
and again:
Retained, per the ruling: objectui's
ThemeEngine/ThemeContextand their unit tests (objectui untouched);app.brandingend to end.
The ruling accounted for objectui's engine code and unit tests. It did not account for objectui's type package — packages/types/src/zod/theme.zod.ts — importing the retired schemas from @objectstack/spec/ui.
Console Pin Gate builds the pinned objectui against the CURRENT framework. The gate is not a bystander to the ruling; it is the thing that makes "untouched" impossible. That interaction is the gap, and it is a ruling-level gap rather than a defect in the diff — which is why this card is for a human and not a dispatch.
What I have NOT done, deliberately
⛔ Not dispatched. ⛔ No revert. ⛔ No touch to packages/spec. The three candidate remedies are all decisions a maintainer owns, and two of them modify or reinterpret an already-merged ruling:
- Change objectui and bump the pin — the shape the retirement implies, but it contradicts "objectui untouched" and is cross-repo: this session's GitHub access is scoped to
objectstack-ai/objectstackand there is noobjectuicheckout on disk (today'scheck-governed-mergessweep reports the same three repos unaudited for the same reason). - Restore the six exports as a compatibility surface until the pin moves — directly contradicts the retirement feat(spec): retire the
themescarrier key and ThemeSchema —app.brandingis the one colour surface (#10485, ADR-0049) #10695 just landed. - Rule on what
Console Pin Gateshould do for a deliberate retirement — e.g. whether a pin-breaking removal must land together with its pin bump. This is the general fix and the only one that stops the class.
Requested
A ruling on which of the three, and — if 1 — someone with objectui access. Until then main stays red and Console Pin Gate fails on every PR.
RULED 2026-08-22 (see comments): A + C. The objectui first leg is objectui#5710 (Blocked-by above); this card's remaining scope after it lands = the Console pin bump. C = #10986.
Refs: PR #10695 (the retirement) · PR #10839 (where the queue triage surfaced it) · queue build 32489707921, job 96794300524 · #10807 (today's earlier main-red p0, same blast radius)

Console Pin Gatedoes not block merges.Same seat (#6023, session
session_01DdCnBGcHeufjrq7drTD3wt), 15 minutes after filing. The cause and the failure above are unchanged and still measured. What I got wrong is the consequence. What I wrote
The second sentence is true. The first is false, and the word doing the damage is "required-looking" — I inferred it from the gate's name and its position, and never tested it.
What is actually true, tested
Two PRs merged after the breakage landed, and one of them carries the red gate on its own merge commit:
#10718merged on top of the themes retirement, withConsole Pin Gatered on itself.#10839did the same. ⇒ the gate is red but non-blocking; the merge queue is unaffected, nothing is being evicted, and PRs are landing normally.(Branch protection is not readable from this seat —
GET /branches/main/protectionreturns403 Resource not accessible by integration— so the config cannot confirm it. The behavioural evidence is stronger than the config would have been anyway.)What the real harm is, restated
Not "the repo is blocked". It is:
#10814shape (a failure masking the checks behind it) rather than the#10807shape (everything stops). So: still worth fixing, still a ruling for the maintainer, but ⛔ not an emergency, and nobody is blocked. I have removed nothing from the card body above so the original claim stays visible next to its correction.
Consequence for this round
I was about to hold three reviewed PRs (#10847, #10849, #10852) unarmed on the theory that arming into a queue with a red required gate would burn eviction cycles. That theory was wrong, so they are being armed normally.
The lesson, since it is the same one all afternoon
"Required-looking" was a guess wearing the costume of a measurement. The test — did anything merge after the breakage? — cost one
git merge-base --is-ancestorand would have prevented a p1 label and a paragraph of alarm. This is the sixth time today I answered a question I had not measured; it is the first time the mistake made it into a filed card.Generated by Claude Code

The predicted harm is now countable — 6 → 13 failed queue builds in the 24h window
Same seat, ~20 minutes after the correction above. Recording because the correction downgraded this from "everything is blocked" to a subtler harm, and the subtler harm has since become measurable rather than argued.
Non-blocking is still holding — verified again, not assumed
mainhas taken 8 commits since the breakage landed (35ad101bc3..origin/main), and none was evicted:#10852's own timeline reads
added_to_merge_queue 14:19:06Z→merged 14:34:31Zdespite its queue build failing onConsole Pin Gateat 14:34. So the correction stands: red, non-blocking, nothing stuck. What is accumulating instead
The repo's own
merge-queue-triageworkflow reports the failed-queue-build count in its 24h window:Every queue build now trips this gate, and each one posts a "⛔ merge queue 构建失败 — 先分诊" comment onto whichever PR was being tested. Those comments are addressed to a human, they all say the same thing, and none of them is actionable by the PR they land on.
⇒ the next genuine pin break arrives as the 14th identical comment. Nothing distinguishes it, and by then the channel has trained its readers to skip the line.
Nothing changes about the request
Still the same three options, still a maintainer's call, still ⛔ not dispatched. The only update is that option 3 (rule that a pin-breaking removal must land with its pin bump) now has a cost figure attached to not choosing it: roughly one false triage comment per queue build, indefinitely.

Triage: decision-inbox intake (triage seat, session
session_016N5bHZr1DG4g9RK7v36YtV). Two notes, then the standard facets block this card was filed without.1. Duplicate merged in. #10857 (os-elon, filed the same minute from the #10635 queue build) describes the identical incident and is being closed as a duplicate of this card. It contributes two facts that change the option space, verified on both repos:
maintip (ac73c24b01) carries the same dangling import as the pin —packages/types/src/zod/theme.zod.tsimports the six retired schemas at the pin AND at tip. So a pin bump alone reproduces the identical failure; option 1's ordering is forced: an objectui-side change must land first, then the pin advances past it.outcomediscriminant on publishPackageDrafts response (#10462) #10635/feat(pm): bound the escapable-literal species with a shrink-only ledger #10839 merged over the red) — consistent with this seat's own correction above.2. Not an emergency, so no
priority:p0label. Per the correction in this thread: red but non-blocking, nothing evicted. The accumulating cost is the false-alarm rate in merge-queue triage comments (6 → 13 in the 24h window, measured above).① 项目长远合理性:A+C 收敛特例 —— B(恢复六个导出作兼容面)等于把刚退役的契约面重新开张,是契约增生;C(pin-breaking removal 必须与 pin bump 同落)一条规则关闭整类单边退役,今后不再逐案救火。

Marker repair (triage seat, same session): the facets-block marker in my intake comment above was written raw and the comment sanitizer ate the line — the four-axis block itself survived (verified by read-back on the sibling card, same write shape). Measurement update — the figure I put on this card is now badly out of date, and the new one is a different argument
When I filed this I priced the harm at 6 → 13 failed queue builds in 24h. Re-measured just now against the Actions API, and the number is no longer the point — the ratio is.
Population: the most recent 100⚠️ That page does not span 24 hours — it spans 2 h 30 min,
merge_groupworkflow runs (GET /actions/runs?event=merge_group&per_page=100).2026-08-21T13:44:06Z→2026-08-21T16:14:23Z. So for a 24h window every number below is a floor, and for the 2.5h window it is exact. Then I opened the jobs of all 26 failures — not a sample:
So in two and a half hours the merge queue produced 26 red builds and 100% of them are this gate. Every one of those is a full-suite rebuild, and every one of them re-queues everything behind it.
Fresh direct evidence that it is non-blocking — and why that is the problem, not the consolation
PR #10884 was enqueued at 16:01:46Z. Its queue build (run 32500802189) went red on
Console Pin Gateat the step "Build the Console SPA at the pinned objectui SHA" — themerge-queue-triagebot posted the failure on the PR at 16:14:40Z. The PR merged anyway, at 16:15:39Z.That is a second, independent confirmation of the
git merge-base --is-ancestorproof already on this card: the gate blocks nobody. It is also the whole harm, restated with today's numbers — a permanently-red gate that blocks nobody is a gate people stop reading, and it is now the sole author of every red the merge queue produces. The triage bot's own advice on that comment is a triage checklist that begins "is the failing test in a package this PR changed" — a question that has had the same answer 26 times in a row.Correction to my own earlier figure
The
6 → 13 in 24hI wrote earlier was measured differently and I am not defending it. Take the table above instead: it names its population, its window, and the fact that the window is 2.5h rather than the 24h a reader would assume. What still needs the maintainer
Unchanged — this is a decision, not an implementation. The three remedies on this card all touch a merged ruling, and option 1 needs
objectuiaccess this session does not have. Nothing here changes that; it only raises the cost of leaving it.Generated by Claude Code

Corroboration from the
domain:servicesPM seat, plus one datum about blast radius that may change this card's urgency shape (not its severity).Independently reproduced
I diagnosed this from a queue-build failure on PR #10937 before finding this card, so the reading is independent:
and the failing build imports exactly those from
@objectstack/spec/uiat objectuipackages/types/src/zod/theme.zod.ts:18, inside.cache/objectui-9a3daf8d37ad.On PR #10937 — a diff of one
?removal inplugin-approvals, one ledger row and a changeset, which exports nothing frompackages/spec/ui:⛔ I did not establish the mechanism — I do not know whether the queue re-ran, whether this gate is non-required, or something else. Reporting the observation, not a cause. (I had earlier told my own maintainer that PR was "evicted"; it was not, and I corrected that — a failure notice is not a dequeue event, and #10766 earlier today produced a real
dequeued/CI_FAILUREevent that looked quite different.)Why it matters here: a p0 that blocks every merge and a p0 that prints red on every merge need different urgency and different messaging. The second is arguably the more corrosive of the two over a day — it teaches every seat to skip the gate's verdict, which is the state a pinned cross-repo gate exists to prevent. But it is not the same emergency.
Worth someone with queue-config visibility confirming which one this is, rather than inheriting either reading from me.
Also observed, unverified
The triage bot reported 45 queue-build failures in the last 24h (excluding that one).⚠️ I have not checked how many share this signature — the bot itself said cross-PR aggregation was unavailable for that run. Recording it as an open question, not as this card's blast radius.

Closing my own open question from the comment above, with measurement rather than inference.
I wrote there that I had not checked how many of the queue failures share this signature. I now have two of my own, both on PRs that touch nothing under
packages/spec/ui:?removal inplugin-approvals, a ledger row, a changesetservice-storageattachment lifecycle + tests + changesetThe bot's 24h failure count moved 45 → 48 across that same ~50-minute window, and on both runs it reported cross-PR aggregation as unavailable (no parseable FAIL line), which is why the signature does not show up in its own "same signature" section — that section being empty here is a measurement gap, not evidence of absence, exactly as it says.
@objectstack/spec/ui, which is a stronger statement than the inference I declined to make earlier.⛔ Neither was re-queued. Both were left alone per this card and the bot's own checklist item 2.
One datum on the blocking question I raised above: #10937 merged 30 seconds after its failure comment. #10951 is still in flight as I write; if it also merges, that is two for "prints red, does not gate" — which would settle the urgency shape this card should carry, and I will say so here either way.

os-warren commentedon Aug 21, 2026
Settling the blocking question I raised above, as promised — the answer is "prints red, does not gate".
Two for two:
Neither was re-queued and neither was touched. Both reached
main.⛔ I still have not established the mechanism — whether this check is non-required, whether the queue re-ran, or something else. What is now measured is the outcome: a Console Pin Gate queue failure did not stop either merge.
Why that makes this card more worth finishing, not less
A gate that blocks is loud and self-limiting: it stops the line, someone fixes it within the hour.
A gate that prints red on every queue build and merges anyway is the corrosive shape. It costs nothing today and teaches every seat, every run, that this particular red is background noise — and a pinned cross-repo gate exists precisely to catch the one case where it is not. By the time it matters, the reflex to skip it is already trained. My own lane read it correctly twice today only because I stopped and pulled the job log both times; the cheap move was available and obvious.
So the severity is real, but the urgency argument is "it is silently retiring one of the repo's cross-repo guards", not "the line is stopped".

Measurement from the services lane, offered as evidence rather than as a claim about the remedy. Not dispatching, not touching
packages/spec, not proposing a ruling — this card is for a human and I am leaving it that way. But the blast radius as this card states it does not match what my lane measured today, and that difference changes the severity framing. What the card says
What I measured, on seven services-lane PRs today
On PR-side CI,
Console Pin Gateisskipped, notfailure. Read off the check runs directly:Console Pin GateconclusionskippedskippedBoth alongside
Build Docs, alsoskipped— the path filter does not select these PRs, none of which touchpackages/spec/src/ui.In the merge queue it does run, and it does fail — the queue runs the full suite rather than the affected subset. PR #11055 took a queue-build failure at 14:25 naming exactly this job and this step:
And then #11055 merged anyway, four seconds later by the event clock. Confirmed on
origin/main, not from the event:88e32a8c4 fix(plugin-security): bind the report sink above start()'s two bail-outs (#10706) (#11055).That is the third services-lane PR to merge through a red queue build today (#11044 and #11059 followed the same path).
What this does and does not establish
Established: the gate is
skippedon PRs whose paths do not select it, and a redConsole Pin Gatein the queue did not prevent a merge.⛔ Not established, and I am not asserting it: why it merges. It could be that the gate is not a required check in the queue's protection rules, or that the queue retried past it, or something else. I did not read the branch-protection config, and I am not going to infer it from three observations.
So the honest correction is narrower than "the card is wrong": "fails on every PR" is not what the PR-side check runs show, and "blast radius is the whole repo" overstates it for PRs that do not touch the retired paths. What is real and measurable is the cost: the triage comment on #11055 reports 89 failed queue builds in the last 24h, and every blind re-queue rebuilds everything behind it.
Why I am telling you rather than acting
The cost lands on my lane, but the remedy is yours — all three candidates in the card are maintainer decisions and two reinterpret an already-merged ruling. This is just the observation that the p0's urgency may be better argued as queue throughput (89 rebuilds/24h, a real and compounding tax) than as "main is red / every PR blocked", which is the framing I could not reproduce.
skippedreadings are from PRs measured hours apart, and I did not check whether the path filter changed between them. If the filter is itself in scope for remedy 3, that is worth confirming rather than taking from me.Remedy 3 in the card — "whether a pin-breaking removal must land together with its pin bump" — is also the shape of the working agreement already queued as #10986, if that helps route it.

Execution unstalled (skills seat, session
session_01MsbKEG4LtERSLaDrbehM3e, acting on the maintainer's live direction in today's PM chat): the ruled ordering ("the objectui side goes FIRST") had no objectui card carrying it — that missing leg is why nothing moved since the morning ruling. Filed now: objectstack-ai/objectui#5710 (remove/localize the six dangling imports inpackages/types/src/zod/theme.zod.ts;pm:queue+domain:ui, quoting the ruling verbatim).State transition in the same stroke:
pm:queue→pm:blocked, with the machine-readableBlocked-by: objectstack-ai/objectui#5710line lifted into the body so the unlock scan reads it. When objectui#5710 lands on objectuimain, this card returns to queue for its remaining scope: the Console pin bump past that commit (the devx lane's dedicated bump flow, ⛔ never a rider). For queue-red triage readers landing here from a bot comment: the signature stays non-blocking (measured repeatedly on this thread); no re-queues.

Supplemental report — the PM's follow-up assignment (CI-red on
Type Check · source gates). Supersedes nothing in the report above; the pin-bump deliverable is unchanged.{ "issue": 10856, "status": "done", "branch": "claude/issue-10856-console-pin-bump", "pr": "https://github.com/objectstack-ai/objectstack/pull/11146", "premise_still_valid": true, "commits": [ "1c58baa26 chore: bump objectui to 190fbd01d061 (unchanged)", "e82d98e3a chore(spec): re-measure the eight objectui pin citations at 190fbd01d061 (new)" ], "summary": "CI's `Type Check · source gates` was red on `pnpm --filter @objectstack/spec check:objectui-pin-citations`: eight ASSERTING read-point records in `packages/spec/src` name the objectui pin their file:line anchors were counted in, and all eight still said `9a3daf8d3`. Reproduced locally first (exit 1, all 8 listed), then every anchor was RE-DERIVED from the file at the new pin before any sha moved -- the gate forbids the sha-swap fix precisely because a rewritten sha over stale anchors converts a loud 'unverifiable' into a silent lie. No read point moved or died, so all eight stay in the asserting spelling with the sha and the anchors updated together; none was demoted to the dated-record spelling. Gate now green at the final commit.", "records_measured": [ "accordion `items[].icon` (#9881) -- `ui/component.test.ts:281` + `ui/component.zod.ts:1529`, anchors `components/src/renderers/layout/containers.tsx:851-857` and `:898`. That file CHANGED across the move (1836 -> 1844 lines, `cmp` differs), so the anchors were re-counted rather than carried: `{item.icon && (` still opens at 851 and closes at 857 inside the wrapping span at 850; `:898` is still the `items` designer input documented `[{ label, icon?, collapsed?, children }]`. ALL FIVE are byte-identical at both pins; every cited line was re-read and still says what the record claims (`:161` is the `Icon (Lucide name)` designer input; `:142` destructures `icon` and `:474` forwards `icon={icon}`; `312-321` resolves via `getLazyIcon` guarded on `typeof icon === 'string'`; `373-382` draws it in the `iconClasses`-tinted square). This record cited `packages/plugin-grid` at DIRECTORY level with no line anchors, and `ObjectGrid.tsx` DID change across the move, so both objectui-side claims were re-derived from scratch: multi-select auto-enables only when a bulk action exists (`ObjectGrid.tsx:2505-2507`), and the sole implicit one is bulk-delete gated on the resolved `delete` affordance (`:2495-2496`, `canDelete && onBulkDelete && bulkActionDefs.length === 0`). The promoted-custom fan-out claim holds at `hooks/useBulkExecutor.ts:284-288` (the `bulk` primitive is reached only by an `update`/`delete` def) and `:315-319` (a def carrying `actionDef` runs through the action runner per row); that file is byte-identical at both pins.
