nickschuetz added a commit to nickschuetz/o3de-rpm that referenced this pull request Oct 7, 2026
development moved to qt-6.11.2-rev1 and pyside6-6.11.2-py3.10-rev1 in
o3de/o3de#20085. o3de-development build 11085600 is green on all four chroots
against them: lrelease is staged with a $ORIGIN runtime path, the shiboken6 /
libshiboken6 / libpyside6 rpaths needed no cleanup, check-rpaths passed, and
the wayland-devel BuildRequires still satisfies WaylandClient. Build-time
verification only. Moving the baselines re-arms the tripwire for the next bump
(Qt 6.12.0 is in review as o3de/3p-package-source#406).

Thanks for putting this together. Two small Linux suggestions while the build options are being reworked, both from testing 26.10 on Fedora:

  1. JPEG: could -qt-libjpeg go next to -qt-webp? In the qt-6.12.0-rev1-linux package from this PR's CI run, libqjpeg.so still links libjpeg.so.8 (as rev8 does), which Fedora does not ship, so Qt silently loses JPEG and .jpg textures fail in Asset Processor ([26.10 stabilization] Project manager background issue o3de#20213). The TIFF half is already fixed here: that package's libqtiff.so no longer needs an external libtiff.

  2. Platform/Linux/Qt_linux.cmake adds WaylandClient to the required components for every project, so configuring any project needs the Wayland dev packages installed. The engine only links Qt6::WaylandClient when PAL_TRAIT_LINUX_WINDOW_MANAGER_WAYLAND is on (Code/Editor/Platform/Linux/editor_lib_linux.cmake), so it could be requested as an optional component instead.

Happy to test a build of this on Fedora 44.
