In fsl_xcvr_runtime_suspend, we may return 0 for success even if regmap_update_bits failed. So fix it to return the error instead. Signed-off-by: Thai Phan <thai.phan@garmin.com>

[ Upstream commit 60f07e2 ] We use uprobe in aarch64_be, which we found the tracee task would exit due to SIGILL when we enable the uprobe trace. We can see the replace inst from uprobe is not correct in aarch big-endian. commit b4d37cdb77a0015f51fee083598fa227cc07aaf1 upstream. When deassigning a KVM_IRQFD, don't clobber the irqfd's copy of the IRQ's routing entry as doing so breaks kvm_arch_irq_bypass_del_producer() on x86 and arm64, which explicitly look for KVM_IRQ_ROUTING_MSI. Instead, to handle a concurrent routing update, verify that the irqfd is still active before consuming the routing information. As evidenced by the x86 and arm64 bugs, and another bug in kvm_arch_update_irqfd_routing() (see below), clobbering the entry type without notifying arch code is surprising and error prone. As a bonus, checking that the irqfd is active provides a convenient location for documenting _why_ KVM must not consume the routing entry for an irqfd that is in the process of being deassigned: once the irqfd is deleted from the list (which happens *before* the eventfd is detached), it will no longer receive updates via kvm_irq_routing_update(), and so KVM could deliver an event using stale routing information (relative to KVM_SET_GSI_ROUTING returning to userspace). As an even better bonus, explicitly checking for the irqfd being active fixes a similar bug to the one the clobbering is trying to prevent: if an irqfd is deactivated, and then its routing is changed, kvm_irq_routing_update() won't invoke kvm_arch_update_irqfd_routing() (because the irqfd isn't in the list). And so if the irqfd is in bypass mode, IRQs will continue to be posted using the old routing information. As for kvm_arch_irq_bypass_del_producer(), clobbering the routing type results in KVM incorrectly keeping the IRQ in bypass mode, which is especially problematic on AMD as KVM tracks IRQs that are being posted to a vCPU in a list whose lifetime is tied to the irqfd. Without the help of KASAN to detect use-after-free, the most common sympton on AMD is a NULL pointer deref in amd_iommu_update_ga() due to the memory for irqfd structure being re-allocated and zeroed, resulting in irqfd->irq_bypass_data being NULL when read by avic_update_iommu_vcpu_affinity(): BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000018 #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page PGD 40cf2b9067 P4D 40cf2b9067 PUD 408362a067 PMD 0 Oops: Oops: 0000 [#1] SMP CPU: 6 UID: 0 PID: 40383 Comm: vfio_irq_test Tainted: G U W O 6.19.0-smp--5dddc257e6b2-irqfd nxp-imx#31 NONE Tainted: [U]=USER, [W]=WARN, [O]=OOT_MODULE Hardware name: Google, Inc. Note, the worst of the breakage can be traced back to commit cb21073 ("KVM: Pass new routing entries and irqfd when updating IRTEs"), as before that commit KVM would pull the routing information from the per-VM routing table. But as above, similar bugs have existed since support for IRQ bypass was added. E.g. if a routing change finished before irq_shutdown() invoked kvm_arch_irq_bypass_del_producer(), VMX and SVM would see stale routing information and potentially leave the irqfd in bypass mode. Alternatively, x86 could be fixed by explicitly checking irq_bypass_vcpu instead of irq_entry.type in kvm_arch_irq_bypass_del_producer(), and arm64 could be modified to utilize irq_bypass_vcpu in a similar manner. But (a) that wouldn't fix the routing updates bug, and (b) fixing core code doesn't preclude x86 (or arm64) from adding such code as a sanity check (spoiler alert). …poll' Louis-Alexis Eyraud says: ==================== net: ethernet: mtk-star-emac: fix several issues on rx/tx poll This patchset fixes two issues with the mtk-star-emac driver. The first patch fixes spin lock recursion issues I've observed on the Mediatek Genio 350-EVK board using this driver when the Ethernet functionality is enabled on the board (requires a correct jumper and DIP switch configuration, as well as enabling the device in the devicetree). The issues can be easily reproduced with apt install or ssh commands especially and with the CONFIG_DEBUG_SPINLOCK parameter, when one occurs, there is backtrace similar to this: ``` BUG: spinlock recursion on CPU#0, swapper/0/0 lock: 0xffff00000db9cf20, .magic: dead4ead, .owner: swapper/0/0, .owner_cpu: 0 CPU: 0 UID: 0 PID: 0 Comm: swapper/0 Not tainted 6.15.0-rc2-next-20250417-00001-gf6a27738686c-dirty nxp-imx#28 PREEMPT Hardware name: MediaTek MT8365 Open Platform EVK (DT) Call trace: show_stack+0x18/0x24 (C) dump_stack_lvl+0x60/0x80 dump_stack+0x18/0x24 spin_dump+0x78/0x88 do_raw_spin_lock+0x11c/0x120 _raw_spin_lock+0x20/0x2c mtk_star_handle_irq+0xc0/0x22c [mtk_star_emac] __handle_irq_event_percpu+0x48/0x140 handle_irq_event+0x4c/0xb0 handle_fasteoi_irq+0xa0/0x1bc handle_irq_desc+0x34/0x58 generic_handle_domain_irq+0x1c/0x28 gic_handle_irq+0x4c/0x120 do_interrupt_handler+0x50/0x84 el1_interrupt+0x34/0x68 el1h_64_irq_handler+0x18/0x24 el1h_64_irq+0x6c/0x70 regmap_mmio_read32le+0xc/0x20 (P) _regmap_bus_reg_read+0x6c/0xac _regmap_read+0x60/0xdc regmap_read+0x4c/0x80 mtk_star_rx_poll+0x2f4/0x39c [mtk_star_emac] __napi_poll+0x38/0x188 net_rx_action+0x164/0x2c0 handle_softirqs+0x100/0x244 __do_softirq+0x14/0x20 ____do_softirq+0x10/0x20 call_on_irq_stack+0x24/0x64 do_softirq_own_stack+0x1c/0x40 __irq_exit_rcu+0xd4/0x10c irq_exit_rcu+0x10/0x1c el1_interrupt+0x38/0x68 el1h_64_irq_handler+0x18/0x24 el1h_64_irq+0x6c/0x70 cpuidle_enter_state+0xac/0x320 (P) cpuidle_enter+0x38/0x50 do_idle+0x1e4/0x260 cpu_startup_entry+0x34/0x3c rest_init+0xdc/0xe0 console_on_rootfs+0x0/0x6c __primary_switched+0x88/0x90 ``` The second patch is a cleanup patch to fix a inconsistency in the mtk_star_rx_poll function between the napi_complete_done api usage and its description in documentation. At this stage, the inode size is 0x24000, which is block aligned. Then fallocate happens, and since it's expanding the inode, it will call btrfs_truncate_block() to truncate any unaligned range. But since the inode size is already block aligned, btrfs_truncate_block() does nothing and exits. However remember the folio at 0x20000 has some range polluted already, although it will not be written back to disk, it still affects the page cache, resulting the later operation nxp-imx#28 to read out the polluted value. [FIX] Instead of early exit from btrfs_truncate_block() if the range is already block aligned, do extra filio zeroing if the fs block size is smaller than the page size and we're truncating beyond EOF. This is to address exactly the above case where memory mapped write can still leave some garbage beyond EOF. ACPICA commit 1c28da2242783579d59767617121035dafba18c3 This was originally done in NetBSD: NetBSD/src@b69d1ac and is the correct alternative to the smattering of `memcpy`s I previously contributed to this repository. This also sidesteps the newly strict checks added in UBSAN: llvm/llvm-project@7926744 Before this change we see the following UBSAN stack trace in Fuchsia: #0 0x000021afcfdeca5e in If ti_csi2rx_start_dma() fails in ti_csi2rx_dma_callback(), the buffer is marked done with VB2_BUF_STATE_ERROR but is not removed from the DMA queue. This causes the same buffer to be retried in the next iteration, resulting in a double list_del() and eventual list corruption. Fix this by removing the buffer from the queue before calling vb2_buffer_done() on error. This resolves a crash due to list_del corruption: [ 37.811243] j721e-csi2rx 30102000.ticsi2rx: Failed to queue the next buffer for DMA [ 37.832187] slab kmalloc-2k start ffff00000255b000 pointer offset 1064 size 2048 [ 37.839761] list_del corruption. next->prev should be ffff00000255bc28, but was ffff00000255d428. Without the change `perf `hangs up on charaster devices. On my system
it's enough to run system-wide sampler for a few seconds to get the
hangup:
$ perf record -a -g --call-graph=dwarf
$ perf report
# hung
`strace` shows that hangup happens on reading on a character device
`/dev/dri/renderD128`
$ strace -y -f -p 2780484
strace: Process 2780484 attached
pread64(101</dev/dri/renderD128>, strace: Process 2780484 detached
It's call trace descends into `elfutils`:
$ gdb -p 2780484

The hangup happens because nothing in` perf` or `elfutils` checks if a
mapped file is easily readable.
The change conservatively skips all non-regular files.

The imx_sec_dsim_probe may be deferred (e.g. when uising ti,sn65dsi84). After a deferral, of_reset_control_array_get will fail because of the call in the previous imx_sec_dsim_probe. commit b4d37cdb77a0015f51fee083598fa227cc07aaf1 upstream. Without the help of KASAN to detect use-after-free, the most common sympton on AMD is a NULL pointer deref in amd_iommu_update_ga() due to the memory for irqfd structure being re-allocated and zeroed, resulting in irqfd->irq_bypass_data being NULL when read by avic_update_iommu_vcpu_affinity(): BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000018 #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page PGD 40cf2b9067 P4D 40cf2b9067 PUD 408362a067 PMD 0 Oops: Oops: 0000 [nxp-imx#1] SMP CPU: 6 UID: 0 PID: 40383 Comm: vfio_irq_test Tainted: G U W O 6.19.0-smp--5dddc257e6b2-irqfd nxp-imx#31 NONE Tainted: [U]=USER, [W]=WARN, [O]=OOT_MODULE Hardware name: Google, Inc. This avoids invalid wait context reported by the kernel due to the async handler taking BH spinlock: [ 805.726977] ============================= [ 805.726991] [ BUG: Invalid wait context ] [ 805.727006] 7.0.0-rc2-net-devq-031026+ nxp-imx#28 Tainted: G S OE [ 805.727026] ----------------------------- [ 805.727038] kworker/u261:0/572 is trying to lock: [ 805.727051] ff190da6a8dbb6a0 (&vport_config->mac_filter_list_lock){+...}-{3:3}, at: idpf_mac_filter_async_handler+0xe9/0x260 [idpf] [ 805.727099] other info that might help us debug this: [ 805.727111] context-{5:5} [ 805.727119] 3 locks held by kworker/u261:0/572: [ 805.727132] #0: ff190da6db3e6148 ((wq_completion)idpf-0000:83:00.0-mbx){+.+.}-{0:0}, at: process_one_work+0x4b5/0x730 [ 805.727163] nxp-imx#1: ff3c6f0a6131fe50 ((work_completion)(&(&adapter->mbx_task)->work)){+.+.}-{0:0}, at: process_one_work+0x1e5/0x730 [ 805.727191] nxp-imx#2: ff190da765190020 (&x->wait#34){+.+.}-{2:2}, at: idpf_recv_mb_msg+0xc8/0x710 [idpf] [ 805.727218] stack backtrace: ... …iled commit abe4a6d6f606113251868c2c4a06ba904bb41eed upstream. When retrieving the PEK CSR, don't attempt to copy the blob to userspace if the firmware command failed.
