A CUDA build of MLX could not allocate memory on a machine without a CUDA device, so the CPU fallback failed on every separation (Linux with the driver but no GPU, Windows without an NVIDIA driver).

  • mlx-sys patches MLX's CUDA allocator to use malloc when CUDA has no device, and gpu::is_available() reports whether one exists. Prebuilt mlx-cuda-3.
  • CD separates a test mix on the CPU on the Linux and Windows runners.
  • The Linux CPU warning no longer mentions --install-cuda.

A CUDA build of MLX could not allocate memory on a machine without a
CUDA device, so the CPU fallback failed on every separation. mlx-sys now
patches MLX for that case (prebuilt mlx-cuda-3), and CD separates a test
mix on the CPU on Linux and Windows.
