@e-perl-NOAA, maybe you're already working on this, but I think the section on growth could use an update.
The it starts (latex on line https://github.com/nmfs-ost/ss3-doc/blob/main/9control.tex#L473) with the description of the von Bertalanffy growth function (which is the most commonly used option and worthy of emphasis), but is confusing if you want to know what other options are available.
Describe the solution you'd like
I think the growth section would benefit from a list of all available growth options and their required number of parameters, such as that for selectivity beginning at https://github.com/nmfs-ost/ss3-doc/blob/main/9control.tex#L1817.
The subsections within growth may also need some revision as they are currently a mix of descriptions of different growth options and the features within each option (e.g. "8.5.2.6 Mean size-at-maximum age" (which applies to multiple options) the sections for "8.5.2.5 Richards growth function" and "8.5.2.7 Age-specific K").
The "Mean size-at-maximum age" section also could be revised to reflect information from the recent changes in nmfs-ost/ss3-source-code#747.
