A small Python utility that connects to your IMAP server, parses incoming mail, and shows a sticky desktop popup. Built for Foxmail users who keep missing Foxmail's 3-second toast notification — but it works with no mail client at all.
- Sticky popup with sender, recipients, subject, body preview, and attachment count.
- IMAP IDLE for sub-second push notifications; auto-falls back to polling.
- Working hours / DND — silent outside business hours, summary popup when the work day starts.
- VIP senders highlighted in red, override DND. Muted senders never pop.
- Foxmail integration — clicking Open Foxmail on the popup brings up the inbox.
- Stdlib only — no
pip install, no internet needed once the script is on the machine. - DPAPI-encrypted credentials with configurable expiry.
python foxmail_imap_notify.pyEnter account and password when prompted. Send yourself a test mail; the popup should appear within ~1 second.
