nix config

My nix config for macOS and NixOS.

The NixOS Desktop part is under construction.

Reference welcome, but my config is not intended to be used as a template for your own config. It is highly opinionated and tailored to my personal preferences and workflow.

Structure

  • ci/ - nix shims evaluated by CI
  • data/ - plain data shared across the config, including the pinned agent skill sources under data/skills/
  • environments/ - devenv examples for different languages and tools
  • modules/ - nix-darwin and NixOS modules
  • scripts/ - ci / proxy scripts
  • secrets/ - secrets, managed by agenix

Usage

devenv shell # to quick start a shell with all required tools, default shell is bash
# If you want customized shell, use this:
devenv shell --shell {bash, zsh, fish, nu}

just # list all available shortcut commands
just darwin # to build and apply nix-darwin config
just lint # to run every check CI runs

Agent skills

Skills are declarative, via agent-skills-nix.

  • data/skills/sources/*.nix — one manifest per upstream repo. The filename is the source name.
  • data/skills/sources.lock.json — the resolved revisions. Evaluation fails if it disagrees with the manifests.

Use just skills-update to update the skills lock file.

CI cache

This repo will use GitHub Actions to build and cache the packages which not yet cached in the substituters.

Most design is originally from Misaka13514/flake.

Currently I use Cachix, see https://mzwing.cachix.org.
