Walkthrough

PrepareDepsSources.cmake now looks for recipes in recipes/<name>/spec.cmake and returns an empty spec when the file is absent. The script accepts STATIC as a dependency mode and uses _bd_parse_source for source entries. Manifest collection now uses one fixed Windows-oriented configuration and includes both manifests once.

Priority: Normal

Severity of issue fixed: Medium

Merge Risk: Low · up to 7fa36

The dependency path fix itself looks sound. Offline builds with PipeWire enabled may still fail because the Meson archive is not prepared in the cache. An explicit Crashpad opt-in is also ignored by the prepare script. Both are narrow and easy to address, but they are worth fixing if offline preparation is a supported workflow.

Explanation

The description identifies the resolved issue and completes the required checklist. It does not include the optional unit test or AI tool details, and the template's short motivation section is omitted, but the description is otherwise complete.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Issue #35416 requires PrepareDepsSources.cmake to work with the current muse_deps layout. The failing call was include("${EXTDEPS_DIR}/${name}/${name}.cmake") in _pds_spec. At head, _pds_spec sets _spec to "${EXTDEPS_DIR}/recipes/${name}/spec.cmake", includes it only when it exists, and reads DEP_VERSION from that file. This matches the path change proposed in the issue. The issue's open question about a missing spec is handled by returning an empty spec path, which keeps the prior fallback. The issue sets no other acceptance criterion. Limit: the muse_deps tree was not inspected, so the recipes/<name>/spec.cmake layout is confirmed only by the issue text and the author's manual test. No automated test was added, and the issue does not require one.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

No eligible functions found in the changed files. Skipping docstring coverage check. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 0 functions across 0 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The PR includes changes that #35416 does not request and that the PR does not connect to the path fix: (1) require_dep now accepts STATIC and routes it to _pds_single, and the error text changes. (2) MUSE_MODULE_AUDIO_PIPEWIRE, MUSE_MODULE_DRAW_USE_FONTFACE_FT, MUSE_MODULE_DRAW_USE_FONTFACE_XT and MUSE_MODULE_DRAW_USE_QTTEXTDRAW are added to the manifest configuration. (3) MUSE_MODULE_DIAGNOSTICS_CRASHPAD_CLIENT changes from ON to OFF, and the commit message gives a size and clang-version reason. (4) _pds_manifest(FALSE) and _pds_manifest(TRUE) are replaced by one run with OS_IS_WIN fixed to TRUE. The non-Windows manifest pass is removed, so the non-Windows dependency set is no longer collected. (5) _pds_sources now calls _bd_parse_source instead of parsing the fields inline, and _bd_parse_source is not defined in the reviewed files. These changes alter the dependency set and build behavior. The issue only requires the spec path update.

Resolution

Remove the unrelated changes from this PR, or move them to separate PRs that reference their own requirements. Keep the _pds_spec path change, which resolves #35416. If the manifest restructuring is required to make the script run, state the failing path that requires it and restrict the change to that path. Restore the non-Windows manifest pass unless its removal is justified. Confirm that _bd_parse_source is defined in a file included by this script, or remove that call.

- Line 157: Update the MUSE_MODULE_DIAGNOSTICS_CRASHPAD_CLIENT assignment in the
prepare script so OFF remains the default only when the variable is undefined,
preserving any explicit value passed to cmake -P for the manifest.
- Line 154: Update the preparation flow gated by MUSE_MODULE_AUDIO_PIPEWIRE to
fetch the pinned Meson archive into downloads/meson using the existing
dependency-download mechanism, so offline PipeWire builds do not need to fetch
Meson during the build.

TODO: figure out how to manage this. Crashpad needs specific clang version,
that we host in muse_deps. But it needs over 1GB so it doesn't make sense to bundle it with sources.
